Windows 8.1 pro 64bit shutdown problems!!!

hello:
I assembled a new computer with following hardware:
gigabyte x99 gaming g1.
intel 5960X
64gb ram
2 gigabyte gtx 980 gaming in SLI.
after setup windows 8.1 pro 64bit and after several restarts due to installation of MB drivers&software, graphic card drivers, windows update,....finally when trying to shut down windows, it gives the shut down screen then blank screen then loading desktop
again!!! sounds like log off and log on again!!! also when pressing power button on computer to shut down the same thing happens again!!!
I formatted the hard drive and reinstall windows 8.1 pro 64bit again, and without installing any drivers and updates, windows wont shutdown and the same scenario happens again!!!
I disabled the fast start-up option in power option in system in control panel and the computer shutdown this time!!! but the computer takes so long to start windows until hard drive lamp went off.
is there a solution to this!!!!

5. Enable The Shutdown Event Tracker  to consistently track the reason for system shutdowns
To do this in the Start Search type in:  gpedit.msc  and hit the Enter Key.
Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System. In the right pane locate
Display Shutdown Event Tracker  and enable it.
You must update all the drivers.

  • XB270H DRIVER in Windows 8.1 Pro 64Bit Not Digitally assigned Will Not Load

    The drivers available that ACER have released are not being recognised by my system because the closest driver Windows 8 64Bit is not Digitally Assigned. So the Windows 8.1 Pro 64Bit sees the monitor as a GenericPnP only and so far have had no response to when a driver that is digitally assigned by microsoft will be made available by ACER. Anyone else found similar issues with this model and driver. As we all know windows 8 is automatically updated to 8.1 and is mandatory and i would of assumed the driver would be recognised. I know i can run in test mode for the driver to work but then that means i must remain in test mode otherwise driver is removed by windows and goes back to the GenericPnP driver.

    Having an unsigned driver is unacceptable! Philips and Asus have their drivers digitally signed! So does BenQ! It is so easy to digitally sign a driver!
    The work around is to always boot up in Windows to ignore digitally unsigned drivers?
    The driver is also not loading on Windows 7 either. Unless you manually tell Windows to use the unsigned driver!
    Next time I buy a monitor, I am going to visit the website and see if the drivers for the monitor are digitally signed!
    Acer you definitely droppe the ball on this one! Oh and by the way, none of the drivers are digitally signed for the other Acewr g-sync monitors as well!

    I have two PC-s, one is with windows  7 home premium  and the other one with  windows 8.1 pro op system.  They are wired via ethernet/ home network. Till I had old Windows  XP instead of Windows 7, the two PC-s were connected,

  • Running Windows on MacBook Pro - running into problems

    I installed Windows XP on my MacBook Pro (Late 2008 model) and everything seems to be running fine. I installed all of my drivers with no problem. Windows is installed on a 31GB partition.
    I installed Windows for one reason and one reason only - to print W-2s at my job. There is a small program I need to install, and it comes on a disc that is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
    Whenever I go to install the program, I insert the disc into the drive and it just makes a noise like it is trying to load and then spits the disc back out.
    I thought maybe it was just this program, but it's not - it does it with any disc I try to put in.
    Is this a fixable problem? Can I even run PC discs on my Mac (with Windows)?
    I'm pretty new to this whole thing so any insight would be appreciated!

    Yes you can install Windows programs from a disk when you are booted into Windows.
    31GB partition for Windows is very small. Maybe there is not enough space in the Windows partition for the programs you are trying to install. How much free space is there in the Windows partition and how large are the programs? Remember that Windows needs some free space just to run, just as OSx needs free HD space for it to run.
    If you installed using Boot Camp Assistant, you should vist the Boot Camp forum where the Boot Camp gurus hang out. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • Windows 8.1 Pro SMB Sharing problem

    Hi,
    Would love some help.
    I have a file server that I recently upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.  Problem is, it broke my smb share to 2 Dune Media players and another PC running XBMC on the Openelec platform.  I have spent days scouring forums for information and tried
    every reg hack and security/sharing fix I found but to no avail.  I have since refreshed windows 8.1.  I did however just have a breakthrough.
    The problem is that the 3 devices above all worked great before the update, now I'm getting errors when ever I try to access a file on the smb share.  On my Windows 8.1 file server I have am running storage spaces with about 8 discs amounting to about
    16TB of storage, plus an SSD with the operating system. What I just discovered is that if I share a folder on the C drive, it can be scanned and accessed from any of the media players.  Therefore it's only the 'storage space' drive that won't authenticate
    an smb client.
    Thanks
    Allan Phillips

    Thanks Alex, I had tried that a few times.  Finally after 3 weeks I found the solution on the WD forum.  Solution is as below.
    Re: WD TV Live does not see shared windows USB drives that are connected via hub
    Options
    ‎01-24-2014 12:46 PM
    Well, nobody offered any opinion so far, but I was able to solve the mystery.
    It is all about the old IPRStackSize of the LanmanServer (Windows NT is greeting us again).
    I was taken off, because access seemed basically to work (at least with Windows machines).
    But the Windows 8.1 event log then told me very clearly : event 2011, irpstacksize not large enough, please increase.
    This event occurred whenever I tried to access the shared drives from my Android devices or especially from the WD TV Live. The only difference netween these 2 systems was that on the Android devices I could at
    least see the drives (but could not really open them), while the WD TV Live did not even boither to show me the drives.
    Now, I have no clue about the actual limits for the IRPStackSize in Windows 8.1 (the values changed from Windows version to Windows version). So I finally used the limit I found for older Windows systems :
    32 (x20).
    And it works now like a chram as it seems.
    By the way - I found stories about older Windows systems, where people increased the value to 20 (x14). So I tried that value first. With the result that I could not access any drive from other network units at
    all. So, the default value for this in Windows 8.1 must be even higher than that. I don;t know what it is, but 32 (x20) is obviously higher.
    Long story short : it is a Windows 8.1 (possibly already Windows 8) problem. And it can be solved by creating manually an entry in the Registry to add the IRPStackSize parameter with the higher value (as you know,
    when this parameter is missing, Windows uses a default value, which is obviously too small for drives connected to a hub and accessed by any kind of Linux systems.
    I still don't have a clue, why the access request by a Linux based system requires obviously more stack size than a request by a Windows machine. That is still something that makes me shake my head.
    Here a little procedure copied from Windows NT solutions :
    1. Run regedit.
    2. Navigate to the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
    3. In the right pane, double-click the IRPStackSize value.
    4. In the Value Data box, type a value that is larger than the value that is listed.
    If you created the IRPStackSize value using the procedure described in step 4, the default value is 15. It is recommended that you increase the value by 3. Therefore, if the previous value was 11, type 14, and
    then click OK.
    5. Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.
    If the problem persists after you complete the preceding procedure, try to increase the value of IRPStackSize even more. The maximum value for Windows 2000 is 50 (0x32 hex).
    NOTE: If the IRPStackSize value does not already exist, use the following procedure to create it:
    a.
    In the Parameters folder of the registry, right-click the right pane.
    b.
    Point to New, and then click DWord Value.
    c.
    Type IRPStackSize.
    IMPORTANT: Type "IRPStackSize" exactly as it is displayed because the value name is case-sensitive.

  • Pro Random Shutdown problem?

    So we bought a 15" Pro and it has this odd problem of just randomly shutting down. The battery has power in it and most of the time it is plugged into the wall anyway. Sometimes music is playing or I am even actily using teh laptop and then it just shutts down and I have to reboot. I know I will have to take it in for repairs and/or replacement, but I was wondering if anyone else has heard of or experienced this problem and have any idea what would cause such an issue?

    The problem you are describing could be a bad battery. You should check to see if your battery is part of the recall (https://support.apple.com/macbookpro15/batteryexchange/). If it is...there's your problem.
    If it's not, it still could be the battery, but you should try resetting the PMU first (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319). If that doesn't work, call AppleCare and ask for a replacement battery...
    Lots of folks on these boards have described similar experiences....try using the "Search Discussions" feature next time...

    Hi everyone,
    1. Error:
    When I open Microsoft Word 2013 I get the window “Microsoft Visual

    Compile error in hidden module: NotOE.
    This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of this application. Click “Help” for information on how correct this error.
    After I click OK the window is gone.
    2. Error:
    When I open a new blank document another window pops up : “Microsoft Word” … The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings.
    I click Ok and the word is working fine.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Mario

    Hi Mario,
    Please try to start Word 2013 in safe mode and see if issue persists: Press Win + R and type "winword.exe /safe" in the blank box, then press Enter.
    "Compile error in hidden module: NotOE" -
    I'm not sure what exactly "NotOE" is, but it usually indicate a third party add-in, you might want to have a check.
    Also, please browser to Word Startup folder and see if you have any similar .dot/.xla add-in template files. If yes, try to delete them, then verify result. The path of Word Startup folder can be found by going to FILE>Options>Advanced tab>click
    File Locations... button under General section.
    Hope this helps.

  • Clean installation of windows 8.1 pro on Thinkpad e550 activation problems.

    I have installed a SSD hard drive and need a clean instalations of windows for development using multiple platforms.
    My plan was to have a tri-boot on three partitions on a mbr formated drive.
    -Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit;
    -WIndows 8.1 Pro 32bit, and;
    -WIndows 7 Ultimate 64bit using downgrade rights.
    The following steps were used:
    1. Switching the hard drive and cloning the oem copy to the first partition;
    2. Activate windows getting the OEM key from the system (so I had no hardware changes);
    3.Use the anytime upgrade in the system properties to upgrade to pro;
    4.Clone the windows 7 OS from the old PC and place in on a partion;
    5.Download both install media for windows 8.1 Pro from MS Creating Install media;
    6. Create media as detailed here;
    7. Modify the install to allow entry of key after install as shown here because pro license and oem keys where not acepted during install;
    8.Went to BIOS. Turned on Legacy and disable secure boot;
    9.Install Windows 8.1 both versions, and;
    10. Repair boot to load all three OS.
    Good, Now I have all three OS installed all working. However, The pro product key will not activate the windows 8.1 pro and the oem key won't be acepted saying it is the wrong version of windows.
    So called MS activation line and they say i need to contact the OEM for activation and downgrade keys for 7 even though i paid for the upgrade through the MS store and the product was already activated once on the system.
    Questions:
    1. How can i activate the Windows 8.1 pro via Lenovo?
    2. How can I activate the Windows 7 copy under downgrade rights with Windows 8.1 pro?
    3. Am i missing something with the UEFI/BIOS? (Note:I need to use mbr not GPT format on the drive.)
    I have switch the UEFI mode/duel modes during install without success.

    What VC are you using?
    I use VMWare Player (free) and use it to create virtual clients as needed.  Typically the virtual clients are "clean installs" from ISOs.  VMWare has it so well mechanized that there's not much to it.
    It's pretty quick and easy to install Player and give it a try.  Another advantage to that approach is that there's only a single OS at the top level and backups can capture the whole mess w/out having to deal with 2 or 3 different OSs and their partitions.
