How do I send a doc internet mail?says to allow access to adobe but will not allow...it will not go thu gmail either.I have adobe reader 11..

I installed Acrobat 9 Standard on my Windows XP PC (3.02GHz HT CPU with 1GB RAM and 4.25GB free HD space) and it runs OK if I'm logged on as an Administrator. However, if I log on as a non-privileged user, I get the pop-up message "Please wait while Windows configures Adobe Acrobat 9" for EVERY action I take. That is, if I start an application such as Firefox, I get the message. If I right-click on a file in Explorer to copy it, I get the same message, etc., etc.
This was a clean installation - all previous Adobe products cleaned off the PC. This is a ridiculous situation. Anybody know what the problem is and how to get rid of it?

Hi Mike, try deselecting the Acrobat Display PDF in Browser option
Choose Edit > Preferences > Internet, deselect Display PDF in Browser, and click OK.
Or disable the Acrobat browser check preference by choosing Edit > Preferences > Internet and deselect Check Browser Settings When Starting Acrobat
The Acrobat Display PDF in Browser option displays any PDF document opened from the web inside the browser window. If this option isn't selected, PDF documents open in a separate Acrobat window. A corrupt registry setting causes the error to occur each time you start Acrobat.
When you start Acrobat, it checks your default web browser preferences for compatibility with Acrobat and this preference setting may become corrupt. A corrupt preference file causes the error to occur each time you start Acrobat. Turning off, then back on, "View PDF in browser" forces Acrobat to remove and re-create the applicable registry setting. When "View PDF in browser" is re-enabled, the corrupt registry key is written correctly.

Adobe Acrobat problems in Windows 7, any solution?

After a HD-crasch I reinstalled everything. But when I try to install Adobe Acrobat 11 or 9 problems accure. When the program is almost installed suddenly all my Desk top icons, Start menu icons and Quick start icons changes into Adobe icons all of them! When I try to use one of the orginal program icon only Adobe program opens up. I can not access any other programs. When I delete Adobe Acrobat all my icons returns to normal. What to do to have a normal installation of Adobe Acrobat?

How do I open a new window in Adobe Acrobat using the plugin sdk

I would like to create a new menu item that when clicked it will open a new window (e.g. winform). What I'd like to do is pull data from a server and interact with the user in that window. Basically show the user a list of PDF files to pull from the server. Once the user is done selecting which file to pull to have the file pulled from the server into the local drive and have it opened in Adobe Acrobat. The problem I'm having is that I don't know how to invoke a winform or something like it to place my lists of files and UI controls. I've looked at the samples in the SDK and don't see anything that deals with this particular issue. I'm a newbie so I'm sure I'm missing something here. I tried creating a new WinForm in a sample example and ran into errors and the form is not functioning. Any help is much appreciated.

This suggestion is very helpful. I like the idea of creating the new functionality in the language/environment of my choice and simply call it from the plugin. The only issue I have is that when I start the other gui app from within the plugin I don't know how to communicate with it. I would like to do these things with it:
1. For the spawned off app to be able to tell Adobe Acrobat to open a file in a certain location.
2. For the spawned off app to exit if Adobe Acrobat is closed.
3. Also if the spawned off app closes for the handles to it to be desposed of and cleaned up to avoid leaks.
Any ideas on the easiest approach to the above behaviors?

Windows 7, Adobe Acrobat and the HP DesignJet 5000 PS

We have users that connect to a networked DesignJet 5000 PS to print out design documents. One of our users was recently upgraded to Windows 7 and is now unable to print from Adobe Acrobat.
When the user attempts to print, the print dialog box appears. However, when she selects the printer from the dropdown box, Adobe hangs and then crashes. No error messages are displayed aside from the standard "This program has encountered a problem and must close."
Other programs can print to the printer. This issue only happens in Adobe, and only on the computer running Windows 7. I was unable to locate a Windows 7 driver, likely because the printer appears to be discontinued.
I have tried in both Adobe Acrobat 8 as well as 10, and both produce the same issue. Since the issue only occurs in Adobe, I cannot find fault with the printer itself. Please provide any assistance you can.

How can I link an image without leaving the existing window in adobe acrobat??

Hi everybody
I'm new using adobe acrobat, but I saw (once) that in a manual, they linked a image.
Just by passing the mouse over the linked word, the image appears "over" the pdf, without leaving the existing window
Is this still possible?? and How??

Have new laptop with Windows 8 - loaded my Adobe Acrobat XI Pro - needed a new licence - purchased from Adobe online. Cant download either by of the download options. Any ideas ???

Windows closes adobe acrobat xi during launch

Just installed Adobe Acrobat XI. It starts running, shows the splash screen, then up comes a windows error saying it is closing Acrobat XI.
Tried uninstalling, rebooting, cleaning, rebootting, re-installing. Same thing.
What else can I try to get a good install?

"Upgrading" from Adobe Acrobat for Windows to Adobe Acrobat for OS X (Mac)

I own Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard but no longer use it because I purchased a Mac. Can I "upgrade" to a Mac version of Adobe Acrobe Acrobat?

No upgrades from Acrobat 7 are available for anyone - they finished long ago, unfortunately. Only Acrobat 9 upwards are eligible.
You would simply need to purchase Acrobat XI (11) Pro for Mac.
(Note if anyone happens to have a recent version of Acrobat Standard and wants to upgrade to Acrobat Pro for Mac, this is called a "crossgrade" and only available by directly talking to Adobe customer service).

PDF damaged; Windows 7; Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

A very important pdf will not open. It opened previously, but now a window pops up stating, "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." I've already updated adobe pro. It still won't open. I scanned it in from a scanner connected to my company's server into my c drive. It is 19,102 kb. I have Windows 7. I'd rather not purchase anything to repair it. Is there any way to repair this pdf?

When Acrobat provides the alert you've describe there's nothing Acrobat can do.
There may be (for a fee) third-party "repair" shops (Bing-Google to locate).
Or, rescan. Make a working copy duplicate of the initially created PDF.

Windows 7 Adobe Air Problems linked to BBC iplayer

For the last month or so I've been having problems downloading BBCiplayer so I tried downloading Adobe AIR on its own and that was fine although iplayer still didn't work so I uninstalled AIR. Anyway today I thought I'd retry my luck and I attempted to download AIR again but time I'm getting this message: An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator.
I hope I've done this correctly but the log files are below. Please note that I've already tried to use the windows fixit program that's been linked in other threads but that hasn't worked either. Please help.

Could you please try to Microsoft Install and Uninstall Fix It and verify your issue. If you still come across that problem, please copy the entire log here and try the following solution.
Please try this solution:
Step 1. Download the “Windows Installer CleanUp Utility” tool here. Click the “DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS” button, and it will download automatically. The installer file name is “msicuu2.exe”.
Step 2. This tool was initially designed for win xp, in order to make sure it install and run well Win 7. You need to make a small configuration.
Right click on the msicuu2.exe installer file, go to Properties -> Compatibility -> check “Run this problem in compatibility mode for Windows XP (SP3)”. Here is a screen shot. And then run the installer and install the application.
Step 3. After installation, go to Start -> All Programs -> Find “Windows Install Clean Up” and click on the icon to launch the utility program.
You should see this window open:
Step 4. In the opened window, find a program named “Adobe AIR [x.x.x…]” as the version. Mine is AIR 3.0.0.3880. When you select on the item, and click the “Remove” button, the utility will remove the program completely. I suggest you to remove all Adobe AIR versions listed in the window.
Step 5. After a clear uninstallation, you can get the latest version of Adobe AIR here. Try to install it and it should be installed right away without any problem.
