  • Satellite X200 1AA - What is Toshiba x64 ACPI compliant?

I have a Satellite X200 1AA notebook with Windows Vista Premium SP1 and I received through Windows Update the following optional updating notification:
"TOSHIBA x64 ACPI-Compliant Value Added Logical and General Purpose Device".
What device is this? What does it do? Should I install it?

    Hello
When you check Microsoft updates you will see several optional updates for WLAN card, LAN card, Synaptics TouchPad and c64 ACPI....
I don't want to do any updates for these devices because all tested drivers are installed and this update can change something and maybe make some problems.
I have removed check mark in front of these update options. In my opinion you should do the same.
If notebook runs well (all listed components) you don't need such updates.

  • Portege R830-10U, Windows 8 updated, Toshiba Upgrade Assistant issue on PA

    Hello,
I've upgraded to Windows 8 through the Windows' website, as I didn't know about the Toshiba's upgrade tool.
I've run the ToshibaUpgradeAssistant.exe, downloaded on the dedicated page for my laptop, but I'm stuck to the PA number form. I've got a Portege R830-10U, Part No PT320E-XXXXXXXXXX. But when asked for this very PA number, the software doesn't recognize the PT320E (first 6 characters).
What do I do wrong? Does this software work with my laptop?
    Thanks for your help,
    Yvan.

    Hello Francesco,
Thanks for your answer, which pointed me to the good solution: waiting! Today I've just downloaded the new assistant from http://fr.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/windows8_drivers.jsp and no more asking for my computer series, it's automatic, and it seems to work.
    So thanks a lot.
However, Toshiba should have written a helpful error, instead of telling that the serie didn't match anything.
    Best regards,
    Yvan.

  • Windows Vista Update posts 64bit driver for Qosmio F30 32bit Vista

    Hello
Today I've noticed that Windows Vista update is posting the wrong update for one of Qosmio F30 drivers.
I have Windows Vista 32Bit but Windows Update post a 64bit version of the driver.
    see the screenshot [Here|http://imagefilehost.googlepages.com/f30Wrongupdate.jpg]
    Any idea?

    hmm... this is strange ?:|
The Toshiba x64 ACPI compliant driver means definitely a 64bit version!!!
I dont know why the Vista driver update notification reports an 64bit driver for a 32bit OS but usually the 64bit driver shouldn't be compatible with the 32bit OS.
However, the case seems to be clear dont install it if the driver is not designed for your OS.

The indicated update (HP - Other hardware, Printer - Null Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8620) is supplied by Microsoft was an optional update for the HP 8620. Installation fails, with 80070490 error. What can be done to get arround this error. Presumably the update is needed. I am a new HP 8620 user, and I am installing over my home wireless network. All other printing issues seem fine, without problem.
    Please advise.

  • How to update Toshiba WT310 to Windows 8.1?

    Hi,
How to update my new Toshiba Tablet to Win 8.1????
I cannot find anything in Windows shop Application

Well, according to this [Toshiba Windows 8.1 update supported model page|http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/jsp/checkWindows8_1Compatible.do?service=EU] , the Toshiba WT310 is Win 8.1 supported and there are definitely Win 8.1 drivers for this unit.
The Win 8.1 update should be available in Microsoft Store. In case does not appear in Store, you should update the Win 8 to the latest state and should try again to get the Win 8.1 update.

    Hi,
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again"
I've got the error (80071A91) that others have experiences while trying windows update and for the life of me I cannot get the updates to install.
Looking for the past 4 hours via Google, trying different recommended things and still no luck
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_update/unable-to-install-updates-getting-error-code/27a21977-f964-4376-bfab-2f29ea127c6a
    # SFC /scannow causes the "repair status message" and asks for reboot.
I've downloaded fix-it, tried booting into a system repair/restore disk using command line to run
    #sfc /scannow /offline....
using the dispart to LIST VOLUMES  (based on this http://mikemstech.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/how-to-perform-offline-system-integrity.html )
I've tried #fsutils resourse set autorevert=true (or something, can't find the exact post as I've rebooted so many times)
I've tried dismc.exe (or similar without success)
Basically I'm stuck with these updates (~10 of them) always sitting there downloading, installing every time I shut down the PC.
Running a system repair disk created in windows still does not allow #sfc /scannow....
My Last system restore was 04/08/14 and I cannot even restore the system to this point as the restore fails and asks to remove itself once I restart the system.

Been working and updating fine for the past 5-6 months.
I have the Optical drive setup as O: and a Daemon tools virtual drive as drive E:
While running DISKPART and using LIST VOLUME I see this:
currently the system seems to have lost all update history
Any information or help on this is appreciated. I don't want to reformat and reinstall, I don't really want to 'repair' and wipe my current software installation so I'm hoping there is a way.
Anyway I can get the 'pending state' removed.?
    Thanks in advance
    David

Hi, I've rebooted into Repair mode (Console), (because repair said windows is installed on E:) run dism.exe /image:E:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
This gave a message about small scratch space but did say something out a fix. Upon reboot into safemode with console I received the same message
    "C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.
There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete.  Restart Windows and run sfc again."
I then rebooted and tried SCF again, no luck... Same message, same updates still sitting there.

  • No sticker with license number Windows XP to Toshiba NB100

I lost sticker with license number Windows XP to Toshiba NB100. I have an invoice.
How can I retrieve licence number?
Authorized service refused to support this topic.

    Hi
You cannot retrieve the licence number.
First of all the sticker on the bottom of the unit was an OEM serial key. Such key cannot be used and would not work in connection with fresh installed Win XP system.
The point is that Toshiba image which was preinstalled on this notebook was already activated and this means that such key was useless.
I assume you did not create a Toshiba Recovery disk (or flash USB stick) in the past? Right?
Such disks would reinstall the Toshiba image containing activated Win XP system.
Well, usually its possible to order such disk [here|http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx] but I think this would not be possible anymore because of the notebook age.
Solution: you would need to purchase the Win XP with valid serial key.

  • Is it possible to update Toshiba tools automatically?

    Hi
Maybe I missed it, but I did not find any tool for automatic updating of a dozen or so programs that were preinstalled with the laptop. There are two problems with this:
    1. There is no easy way to check the version currently installed
    2. There are many programs
Maybe I am too lazy, under Fedora you just type "yum update" or something similar and every package that came with the system gets up-to-date. I am not demanding this for software I have installed on my own, firstly because I know what version I have installed and secondly, I know where to get updates.
But if you ship a ton of craplets with the system, it would be nice to make updating these as painless as possible.
    Cheers.

    Hello Julian
Just short comment: I am really wondering why you wrote about problems. I really do not see any problems with preinstalled software. Like you know Toshiba has designed many applications and those applications are there to help user with different operations and make notebook usage easier and much comfortable.
If we talk about Toshiba specific tools or utilities there is really no necessary to make any update. Important is the functionality. Update can be interesting for graphic card but not for tools and utilities. For every Toshiba designed tool or utility there is info about version and it is easy to find it.
You are right there are many of them but nobody force you to use all of them. If you do not like some of them they can be simply removed from the system.
At the end it would be very interesting to know which application, for example, should be updated.

  • Can't get Windows update to download updates for other MS products

    Hi,
Installed W7 Home Premium on a single system and for one or another reason I cannot get Windows Update to download updates for other Microsoft products. MS Office University 365, MS Visual Studio Pro 2013 and Microsoft Expression are also installed on this
    system.
I click on Find Out More in the Windows Update page and IE 11 opens. It first goes to http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/vistadefault.aspx?ln=en-au and then redirects to http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5
Here is a picture of the page:
As you can see there is no change settings button as described at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/change-windows-update-installation-notification#1TC=windows-7 .There is no way I can change settings so updates for other MS products are also downloaded.
Firefox is my default browser; even if I load the link in Firefox I get the same result.
    Thanks,
    Imran

Don't use a web browser to do that. Since Vista, WindowsUpdates are no longer performed in a web browser, it's in Control Panel. (that's why the
www.update.microsoft.com web page is telling you to check Start Menu")
The Change Settings button, appears in the Windows Update applet in Control Panel.
Click "Start", and in the search box, type in: Windows Update. Or, look on Start Menu. Or go to Control Panel/System&Security/WindowsUpdate.

  • Satellite C655-S5044 won't recognize TSST CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA device after windows 7 update

    Laptop: Toshiba Satellite C655-S5044; Windows 7 64-bit
DVD Drive - TSST CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA Device
After an automatic Windows update, the CD/DVD drive is no longer recognized.
Running troubleshoot on the PC yields:
Problem detected with TSST CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA Device Driver has been disabled
Checking for new drivers says I have the latest.
I tried running a microsoft fixit for DVD/CD drives - no problem found
I tried deinstalling the driver, then rebooting.  This yields a message:
Device Driver was not successfully installed please consult with your device manufacturer.
I tried the TSST website for Toshiba and that rerouted me here.
Searching the forums I have seen similar issues with other hardware/OS combinations but not exactly the same.
Additional Info from the device manager:
    Device Type:  DVD/CD-ROM Drive
    Manufacturer: (Standard CD-ROM drives)
    Location:  Location 0 (Channel 1, target 0, Lun 0)
I suspect that I have multiple device drivers on the computer for this device and the OS is installing one that doesn't work.
How can I get the correct current driver and install it?
Does anyone recognize this problem and have a fix?
    Thanks.

    Satellite C655-S5044
I didn't find that model anywhere.
Device Driver was not successfully installed please consult with your device manufacturer.
The driver is native to Windows. Sounds to me like a hardware malfunction.
    After an automatic Windows update,..
In a Microsoft forum, they would tell you to do a System Restore to before the Windows Update. If that fixed the problem, then apply the updates one at a time to identify the culprit.

  • CD/DVD completely disappears after Windows XP updates

I had this happen twice now, on my 3 year old Toshiba Satellite P35-s605.
The internal CD/DVD drive works fine, then all of a sudden, it completely disappears from the system. Discs do not play, and the drive does not show up in Explorer.
Likewise, it's the same with my external USB CD/DVD drive; it works fine, then it no longer shows up even though the USB "boing" indicates that the computer reads that a device has been connected.
The last time it happened, I reinstalled the original recovery disk. That seemed to correct the problem. It disappeared again after a Windows XP update (I have not yet added any software besides the OS).
Has anyone had this problem, and has anyone solved it?

I have never heard of a Windows Update causing that sort of problem. It sounds like hardware.
Have you ever tried this fix?

  • P505 Widnow 7 After Recovery, All Tosbiba HW driver report unsigned driver and no Window 7 Update

    Hello,
I just clean up the HD and use the recovery media that created after I get the system to recover my wife's Satellite P505-S8980 system due to some virus causing the system problems. I recover the system to a brand new harddisk with all the default options. Window 7 recovered successfully.
After the finial boot, the screen turn to lower resolutions and once login, I went to device manager report that the Video, Wifi, Ethernet and SD Card reader were all unsigned driver and do not able to start them. I then try to do F8 during reboot to bypass driver verification, window working just fine. But if I boot it normally, it will have problem with those drivers. I think also try to install newer driver from Support webstie, those driver have the same problem.
I was trying to do a Window update, it always fail to update. How can it be fixed? Both driver problem and Window 7 update. I guess this problem must be linked.

..use the recovery media that created after I get the system to recover
I would do the very same thing again, that is, restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. (You can do it from the hard disk directly. See p. 62 in the User's Guide.)
If the trouble occurs before making any changes, then there is almost certainly a hardware problem. To be sure,  you could reflash the BIOS.

Hi, fcullision.I have gone about performing the same tasks as you BUT I am only facing one small problem with the Password Utility; it is missing the ,dll file. However, UNLIKE you, I have performed all the updates AFTER installation of Windoww 10. Microsoft ran a compatibility check which indicated that everything about my system was 100% compatibile and I was ready for the update. Even so, the Toshiba Service Station NEVER has indicated there was a task that needed to be performed before (and now after the Windows 10 installation) or since installation. Therefore, I conclude that you CAN perform the necessary installations provided you have updated all required files so the conversion is smooth and flawless.Good luck!Bi-Ill
