Windows cannot connect to mac server

Hi,
I have problem with a clients windows laptop. It used to be able to connect to their companies mac server. But since he got back from a trip the laptop doesn't connect anymore. I can ping the server. And when I try to redo the network drive I'm promted to enter my credentials. But whatever I enter it doesn't work.
I already tried to use SERVERNAME\user.... and also checkt sercurity policies.

If it worked before but doesn't now something has changed either on the laptop or the Mac server. Do you have access to the Mac server? If not, either you or your client should contact the server's system administrator about the problem.

through motions from the Dashboard:
On the 'Devices' tab, right-click the appropriate client and select 'Restore files or folders for the computer'
'Restore Files of Folders' dialog pops up, asking me to 'Choose a backup' from the list of all the backups that have run
Select any one in the list - have tried numerous backups; automatic, manual, etc. same result every time
Brings up the dialog to 'Choose a volume', choose either C: or D: partitions of the same fixed drive - again, no difference which one I choose, the outcome is the same
'Opening the volume' dialog starts, with progress bar, runs to about 4% complete the pops up the dialog 'The restore process did not succeed'. Full error in the dialog, "The restore process did not succeed because your computer cannot connect to the
server. Make sure that the computer is connected to the networkm and then try again
If my computer cannot connect to the server - how can I get that far? How can I open the dashboard, select a client, select from a list of backups, select a volume to restore, etc. What is going on here?

We are planning to move to MAC operating systems, will use one of the mac as server. What is the possibility for Windows PCs to have access to Mac server?

in My office there is a win server 2003 R2 computer, i install a printer Epson L1100 in that computer, and it successfull, and i can print using that printer from that computer..
I already share this printer, but when i try to connect the printer from my laptop using OS Win 7 Home Premium.. it has error

Got a local password/username on your Win7 ? Create the same on the 2003R2 as you seem in workgroup
net user /add useraccountname mypassword
net localgroup users useraccountname /add (I think it's users the name, you can validate to be sure) or
net localgroup administrators useraccountname /add in worst case.
nb, or add the user guess in the printer share security

Why are sent emails from mac mail going to out box and message saying cannot connect to ATT server?

I receive emails via ATT to my mac mailbox. But when I send an email it goes to the out box and I get a message that it cannot connect to the server?
The genius bar said that APPLE and ATT were working on this, but very frustrating. Any suggestions?

Same is happening with me. Was having intermittent DSL service - called AT&T to rectify.
After the internet was back up and running, I could no longer send outgoing mail from my Mac Mail 5.3 application. I didn't change any settings or update any software, yet the IT person i was talking to (the same who corrected my internet issue) was saying it was a Mail problem.
I disagree considering it was working 1/2 hour before we started our conversation!
Any insight would be helpful.

I updated to mountain lion and now mail cannot connect to my server. It says check your user name and password are correct. Well they are, and were. Nothing has changed except the mac OS.
Has anyone else suffered this and knows a way around it? Too annoying to log into my mail every 15mins via a web page anymore.
Efforts tried to resolve this so far:
retyped user name and password, removed account and created a new account, restarted computer, software update, searched forums. so far all have proved unsuccessful.
I have also written to my mail provider and am waiting for feed back from them, but if anyone has any advice it would be gratefully received.

Many users upgrading to Mountain Lion have run into this problem, myself included. You likely have corrupted settings for your "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" for each of the failed Accounts. Open Mail>go to Mail's Preferences>Accounts>select an Account in the left column to work on>then set up your Outgoing Mail Server which will INCLUDE resetting up your Password, as its asking you to. Click on "SMTP Outgoing Mail Server" near the bottom of the Accounts window while your mail account is highlighted in the left hand column. When you click on SMTP... you will see a drop down box icon offered at the right side of the line. Click it and then select at the bottom of the the list "Edit SMTP Mail Server". Fill in the required settings for your ISP mail account using their recommended settings.

Cannot connect to a server

I have had this problem several time son different Macs running different versions of OS X. I have an eMac running 10.3.9 and the default user cannot connect to a server, a Windows 2003 server. The administrator user works fine, but not the default login user. In the past I would copy a home folder from a similar Mac and replace the home folder on the Mac that is gining me problems. I never have time to troubleshoot this down to the file that is preventing me from connecting. Has anyone else had this problem and found the folder or the file that is causing the problem?

Launch Terminal.app on the Mac OS X Server box and issue the following command:
+sudo changeip -checkhostname
That command should report no changes are required and valid DNS, and will show you the DNS host name for your server. If that command reports DNS errors, you'll need to address those.
Within the client, within Workgroup Manager, the host name you connect to the Mac OS X Server box using (either via the menus and the Connect... item, or via ⌘K) should be the DNS host name of the server box.
If you're using a NAT gateway here and are depending on ISP DNS services, then you don't have local DNS services on your network, and you'll have problems with security and authentication. (And the checkhostname will toss an error indicating DNS problems.)

Ok we need to know what laptop are you talking about before we can begin to diagnosis this problem? So what is your laptop P/N? So we can verify the wifi it has to begin to help.

We have installed BPC 7.0 in 2-server architecture.
First server is VM - Windows 2003 32 bit, it contains
- BPC
- Reporting Services
- Integration Services
Second server is physical. Windows 2003 64 bit, it contains
- SQL Server 2005
- OLAP Server 2005
We have installed also a separate client: admin and office tools.
During opening Excel 2007 (provider Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 is installed on first server) we got error:
InitCatalog:Cannot connect to the server 'XXXXX'. The server is either not started or too busy.
After clicking the OK button in the error message, I was further notified that Account dimension member cannot be downloaded and so on.
It looks like similar problem as in this thread: InitCatalog:Cannot connect to the server 'XXXXX'.
But it wasn;t solved.
We got also the same error during processing cubes/dimensions from BPC Administrator.
Can anybody help us solving this problem?

Cannot connect to abap server, please check your abap server connection

Installed new NW BPC 7.5 system on windows 2008 server but get the error as follows
when logon to BPC server:
"Cannot connect to abap server, please check your abap server connection".
"define system user group tab" is inactive in server manager also.
Server Diagnostic errors for SAP Server Connection:
Database Connection
Status Connection Error
as per note 1385864 but this note has not helped get past this status with installation.
User Type value is either set to Communication Data for all three users (BPC_ADMIN, BPC_SYSADMIN, BPC_USER).
and these accounts are not locked.
Any ideas for these errors?

"Your logon id (domain\user) does not have SystemAdmin rights; some functionality
is disabled."
This is caused by the fact that the user you are logged in as isn't in the UJA_SVR_DEFAULT table, the SYSADMIN field needs to have a value that contains your user id (i.e. DOMAIN\USER) . You can set this up with the UJA3_WRITE_SYS_USERS program.

Aidan, sounds like something went terribly wrong during your activation process. Do this, Clean the appset with the UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT program and make sure that everything is completely deleted. Make sure that there is a lot of memory available for the activation and try it again.
It should work.

Cannot connect to Mavericks server via AFP

Yesterday we had our server rebuilt. I have added a couple of users and a group with read/write access.
I can only connect to volumes via SMB://10.XXX.XXX.XX
When I try AFP://10.XXX.XXX.XX
I get the following error:
‘There was a problem connecting to the

Check the server name or IP address, and then try

system administrator.'
With SMB connection I am getting errors trying to copy files to the server.
The error is:
‘The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “e.g File” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36)’
Any ideas guys?

This next window is the point where I select activation by phone.
This final window shows that the "response code" is not returned. I get an
"Activation Number" instead.

Deploytool cannot connect to linux server

HELP !!!
I'm trying to deploy an application from a Windows 2K machine onto a linux server on a small home network, but deploytool cannot connect to the server.
When I try File->AddServer it says 'cannot connect... please contact your server admin...' However, it works if i try to deploy locally on either machine.
I'm running a Samba network with static addresses on Redhat 7.1, and also with J2sdkee1.3 on both machines(Linux and Win2K). The machines on the network all ping each other successfully using both ip addresses and machine names.
I will greatly appreciately any help. Thanx in advance

I have the J2SDKEE-1.3.1 installed on a linux RedHat 6.2 machine as well as a Win2K machine. The deploy tool can connect to localhost on either machine but when I try to deploy across the network the deploytool appears to connect and then sit there and do nothing. If I then stop the server the deploytool will issue an error and remove the server from the server list. Based on this it appears to be connecting to the linux machine. Also I see no significant network traffic while it is sitting there.
