Windows Server 2012 R2 ISO download incorrect in Evaluation center.

I've tried to download the ISO 3 times (the 4th is in progress now)
The first time I tried I got an Akamai error. Then after trying again, the download completed without error.
However the directory didn't contain an ISO it had 7 files:
SC2012_R2_SCOM.EXE
SC2012_R2_SCAC.EXE
SC2012_R2_SCCM_SCEP.EXE
SC2012_R2_SCDPM_EVAL.ZIP
SC2012_R2_SCO.EXE
SC2012_R2_SCSM.EXE
SC2012_R2_SCVMM.EXE
They all appear to be for System Center, not Windows Server 2012 R2.
I was very careful to specify Windows Server 2012 R2, (especially after the 3rd time)
The download bar in the upper left says "Windows Server 2012..." I can't see what's after the ...
Anyone have any idea what's going on?
Thanks,

Hi,
Please follow the steps below to download it.
1. Open
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2012-r2
2. Expand Windows Server 2012 R2 and choose ISO/VHD. Then, click Register to continue.
3. Complete the two forms.
4. When you reach the Akamai page, you can choose “download the installer” or “If you cannot complete the installation, Click here”
5. If you choose “Click here”, then you choose “OK” on the next page and get the download link.
Best Regards.

  • Where do I download a Windows Server 2012 R2 .iso from, for use with Hyper-v?

    Hello,
Where do I download a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard .iso from, for use with Hyper-v?
The only official download I can find is the evaluation version from here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2012-r2
Is it recommended to use the evaluation version and then license it to make it a full version, or is there a better official download?
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Brian,
I don't personally have an MSDN subscription.
So using the evaluation versions is ok?
With a Windows Server 2012 R2 license, you can have two
    Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual
machines, so I assume I can turn evaluation version VMs into full fledged servers?
    Thanks
    Paul
How did you acquire a Server 2012 R2 license without any installation media? Can you get the installation media from the same source? How did you install 2012 R2 on the host?

  • Server 2012 R2 ISO download is larger than DVD, how do I install on a new physical server?

I have downloaded Server 2012 R2 (not the trial version) and the size of the ISO is 5.2Gb.  I get 'disc image file is too large' error when trying to create image on DVD.  How do I install 2012 R2 on a new physical server?

Does your server have an out-of-band management console?  Those can generally mount virtual media that is simply a file residing on the machine you are using to connect to the console.
Another option is to use USB -

  • Installing Windows Server 2012 in Order to Use SharePoint Server and Develop in VS2012

    Hi.
I need to install SharePoint Server so that I can work with SP Designer and have full options for development using VS2012.  Apparently, I also need to Install Windows Server 2012.  I would like to install and configure WS2012 in a virtual environment
using the Hyper-V tools that come with Windows 8 Pro.  I'm a newbie when it comes to WS2012, and want to make sure I don't end up reformatting my Windows 8 hard drive or causing a similar event that would put me in a rubber room.
I downloaded the WS2012 image file, but am unsure how to proceed.  Can anyone give me some help as to how to get started?
    Thanks.
    Bugless

    Hi,
If you have enabled the Hyper-V role on Windows 8 then you can create Windows Server 2012 VM's.  As Server 2012 has the Hyper-V tools build in by default there is no need to install them.
So enable the Hyper-V role on Windows, Create a new VM in Hyper-V management console and connect the cd/dvd drive in the VM properties to the Windows Server 2012 setup ISO file. Start the VM and the Server 2012 setup. (during creating a VM you can also
connect the cd/dvd drive to an ISO file)
You might want to give to the Server 2012 VM 2 vCPU's and 2GB+ memory for performance. Also have a look the memory specs for VS2012 to see how much memory you should give to the VM.

  • Create ISO of Windows Server 2012 R2 Physical Server - NOT VM

I have a windows server 2012 R2 installed on a physical server. I have windows patches and other firmware upgrades on it. I would like to create a gold image in the form of ISO, so that i can use this ISO and build my other servers. I have read many many
blogs but none of them have clear steps. I know there are tons of ways to do this for VM, but this is for a physical machine. I have used sysprep, completely messed up my server, i am used there is no warning or anything listed on technet for using this software.
If anyone has able to do this successfully please let me know. Please don't send me instructions for VM, this is not a VM, it is a physical server. Thanks in advance.

Okay, it's been a while since I worked with MDT and my memory was bad.  The best thing to do is to download MDT (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40796
for the 2013 version) and its documentation.  One of the documents is a Quick Start Guide.  It gives you step-by-step instructions on how to do what you are asking.  It doesn't make sense to replicate all that content in a forum when there is
    already a published document.
Then, if you have problems with performing the tasks, come back to this forum and ask specific questions about the issues you are encountering.
Note, the documentation assumes working with Windows 8.1, but it also says it supports it for Windows Server.

Thanks Tim. I started working on it, i do have few questions:
    i) Why do i need 3 machines as per the document "Quick Start Guide for Lite Touch Installation.docx"? I am not quite following here, can i just do it on 2 servers, 1 which will capture the image and server 2 will be used to build using captured image.
ii) I was able to get till Step 41. (page 17 from doc 'Quick Start Guide for Lite Touch Installation.docx'), i do see the ISO created, but it is only 300 MB? My original ISO was 4 gb. I don't think i can just copy the 300 MB iso and build another machine, i
am lost here, any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Download Windows Server 2012 (not R2) evaluation copy

    Hi,
If I try to download the windows server  2012 (not R2) evaluation copy from http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/evalcenter/hh670538.aspx, I always get a  Windows 8 ISO (9200.16384.WIN8_RTM.120725-1247_X64FRE_SERVER_EVAL_DE-DE-HRM_SSS_X64FREE_DE-DE_DV5.ISO)
Thats not that what I'm looking for. :-(
I need to do some compatibility checking for server 2012, therefore I need the ISO image to install on a server.

    Micha

    Hi Micha,
I checked the download link and the ISO file name. It should be OK. As Tim mentioned, would you please
let us confirm whether you had installed via this ISO file? After installation, did you find it was a Windows 8, not Windows Server 2012? Just a confirmation. Thanks for your understanding.
    In addition, if
you use the link (English version) as Farhad suggested, will encounter the same issue?

  • Downloaded Evaluation Version of Windows Server 2012 Standard- install is asking for product key

I downloaded the evaluation version of Windows server 2012 standard from the Microsoft TechNet site.
When I try to install server 2012 as a new virtual, I'm prompted for the product key for server 2012.
I do not have the key. How do I get the key? Or, why is this happening on a evaluation version?
Does anyone out there have the key for Windows server 2012 standard evaluation version, or know where I can get it?
    Thank you.

  • Download the Evaluation: Windows Server 2012 R2 product key

Where do you obtain the product key information?
for the .iso download version to be functional

    Hi Marz,
You can download Win2012 R2 from mentioned link
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/products/windows-server-2012-r2/default.aspx#fbid=kyb2VoUOHw-
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/firehose/archive/2013/06/25/system-center-2012-r2-now-available-for-download.aspx
and key is provided in mentioned link
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj612867.aspx
I have already downloaded it and checked it, it is working fine without issue.
If you have installed Evaulation version and unable to use KMS key then Try mentioned link, it is very helpful

    http://workinghardinit.wordpress.com/tag/windows-server-2012-r2/
    Steps are
    1. check Current Edition
    DISM /online /Get-CurrentEdition
    2. Check Target Edition
    DISM /online /Get-TargetEditions
    3.
    DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:D2N9P-3P6X9-2R39C-7RTCD-MDVJX /AcceptEula
    or
    DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerDatacenter /ProductKey:W3GGN-FT8W3-Y4M27-J84CP-Q3VJ9 /AcceptEula
Now you can install the new Windows 2012 R2 KMS key. If you run in to any issues here, restarting the KMS Service can help (("net stop sppsvc" and "net start sppsvc") . Try that first.

  • Download Updates for Windows Server 2012 R2 Security Baseline..every time I open SCM

Each and every time I open SCM, I am prompted to download the Windows Server 2012 R2 Security Baseline 1.0 Fr, August 15 2004...   Doesn't matter if I've installed it before or not.
Anyone else seeing this problem?  Does anyone know why this is happening or how I can get it to stop?   I tried uninstalling SCM and reinstalling, but the problem continues.
SCM is installed on a Windows 7 virtual machine, if that is relevant.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 "The password is incorrect. Try again."

    Hi,
I tried to login to my Windows Server 2012 R2 and I got this message "The password is incorrect. Try again." Although the username and password are absolutely correct.
    Any thoughts. Thanks.

    Hi,
I have been investigating this behavior for a while, I am wondering that have you migrated your domain from 2003 to 2012 recently?
Because I can reproduce this issue by migrating a Windows Server 2003 domain to Windows Server 2012 domain, after the Domain Controller changes its password.
Here are some similar threads below about this issue, which got me testing this behavior in the first place:

I am still trying to figure out how and why this issue happens, and consulting with some experts. I will keep you posted once I have progress.

  • Windows server 2012 RDP Session - Default Start Menu Layout Downloaded Apps Not Displayed

    Hi,
Hopefully someone can help me to resolve a problem that's holding me back a little regarding the start menu for all users that connect to remote desktop sessions on Windows Server 2012.
I would like all users to have the same default application set upon login. Using a temporary user called 'Start Menu' I created the exact layout that I require all users to have. I installed the tile apps from the store with the 'Start Menu' user.
I then used the PowerShell command:
    PS C:\> Export-StartLayout -Path "C:\Layouts\Marketing.xml"-As XML
This then gave me the following XML file:
    <launcher version="2"><view name="Start"><group><tile AppID="AccuWeather.AccuWeatherforWindows8_8zz2pj9h1h1d8!App" size="wide310x150" FencePost="0"/><tile AppID="Microsoft.BingNews_8wekyb3d8bbwe!AppexNews"

Using GPO I then applied this layout to all users. However when I login as any other users I only actually get the OneDrive app and none of the others.
Can someone please point me in the right direction. The store can not be run as administrator and the 'Start Menu' user had administrator rights when the apps were added from the store.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
You can check the GPO setting “pin Apps to Start when installed” which will pin the new program to start and other setting “Start Screen Layout” which will lets you specify the Start screen layout for users and prevents them from changing
its configuration. You can find this setting under below mention path.
    <Computer Configuration> | <User Configuration> \Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar
In addition please check beneath article.
