Windows Update stuck on downloading 0%

Hi! Does anyone know what this error Message means?
I have an old update I can't seem to download, even if the server has been installed recently with other updates. The update exists in the SCCM console, and exists on at least one of our Windows Update packages, which in turn are Distributed correctly

I found directories and files in these folders, I've searched through all my distribution Points:
 Directory of D:\SCCMContentLib\DataLib

2014-03-06  03:12             5.120 bd5a51ba-2106-46f1-bc87-347294901fdf.tar
If I search for the "bd5a51ba-2106-46f1-bc87-347294901fdf" update I can't find anything in the console, if I search for "8cd56b72-8791-4fbb-bb86-97d41afcb588" I find the update I am looking for. Why are there two updates with two codes but the same name?
I get it from this log on the Client: UpdatesStore.log:

  • Windows Update stuck on downloading on Server 2012

    Hi,
Using VMWare Workstation 9, I created new virtual machine where I installed Windows Server 2012 Standard edition from MDSN disk en_windows_server_2012_x64_dvd_915478.iso  In the Server 2012 virtual machine, when I go to check for updates it says
there are important updates available so I click on Install Updates.  It then just gets stuck on downloading updates for hours and nothing ever happens.  Stuck at 0 KB total, 0% complete.  I am able to access web pages using Internet Explorer
with no problem so the machine does appear to have connectivity to the Internet.  If I go to help, click on "What can I do if I'm having problems installing updates?" and click on "Tab or click to open the Windows Update troubleshooter"
it says "Windows Online Troubleshooting Service is not enabled for this version of Windows."  Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks,
    Greg

I had a similar problem with a guest Windows 2012 R2 running on a Hyper-V host. I went to the network adapter in device manager in the guest and I disabled the "Large Send Offload Version 2 (IPv4)" option. Why? Well, this was also an issue previously when
guesting Windows 2008 where the symptom was an error 80072ee2 when retrieving updates. See this post
http://blog.ronnypot.nl/?p=310 for details. Anyway, I tried this and it worked for me. Hung before the change, worked after.

  • Certain Windows updates will not download on any PC on our network

    Hi,
We've had a problem that seemed to develop a couple of months ago in that certain Windows updates will not download to any PC on our network, most notably IE11 and .NET 3.5.1 updates. Most others will download and install with no problem at all.
I have tried running the Windows Update Fixit, I have tried deleting the /Windows/SoftwareDistribution folder, I have tried the System Update Readiness Tool, I have added the various Windows Update server URLs to our firewall whitelist, I have
tried a clean boot, but to no avail. Downloading and installing the affected KB patches manually works fine though.
When I connect any of our PCs directly to an external router the updates download and install fine. It's only when connected to our network (which comprises a Peplink WAN load balancer, Cyberoam CR25iNG security device, Windows 2003 domain controller
& Arista 10Gig switch) that the problem exists.
Most updates download successfully but others only get to a certain percentage downloaded, most commonly 45%, although I'm not sure if that's a meaningful figure.
For example, the most recent batch of updates all download and install fine except for KB2982378, KB2894844, KB2972211 & KB2973112. Is there something those updates have in common that something on our network could be blocking?
I'm really unsure where to try looking next, so if anyone has any suggestions they would be very welcome please.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi  Matt,
When you connect  to an external router directly, does your network location change to private or still domain network?
I suspect this is related to some firewall setting, even related to your network security device.
Please check or upload the WindowsUpdate.log ( %windir%\Windowsupdate.log), we can find some information about downloading phase.

  • SINGLE SCCM UPDATE STUCK AT DOWNLOADING 0% COMPLETE

I'm posting this because while there are multiple threads on the Internet about all patches on a client stuck at "downloading 0% complete", there's very little on when only one patch is stuck there network-wide. This was the "Windows Malicious
Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows Server 2013, 2012 R2 x64 Edition - September 2014  (KB890830)". On this network it would not download on any machine. Other versions of the Sept 2014 version of 890830 did install, so it was clearly
something specific to this version of that update. After awhile, I decided to try something that worked for me: Delete the deployment that applies to the machine in question, update distribution points from the package in question, run Machine Policy on the
box in question, wait til the update clears off the Software Center screen, and then run Machine Policy and Software Updates Deployment on the Actions tab. Then the patch installed fine. Hope this helps someone else!

I just figured this out while typing this. One of the suggested threads that appeared when I was typing lead me to the answer for my case. The IIS App Pool for DPs was using an account that did not have rights to particular folder. Some security setting
pushed by the security server changed something. I changed to App Pool to an account that had the needed rights, restarted IIS, and the downloads started working. Maybe this will fix my secondary DP problem too.

  • Windows Update doesn't download updates

I have new hardware/software with Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials. After initial setup of hardware/software I tried to get windows update before proceeding to the dashboard and going through all the wizards. I have 60 found updates but it won't download
any of them, even if I only select one of them to install. It just sits at 0% download. I can reach the internet just find. I also verified that both the BITS and Windows Update services are running. Any ideas of things to look at or try would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Please refer to Milos’s suggestion and check if help us to find more clues.

I have 60 found updates but it won't download any of them, even if I only select one of them to install. It just sits at 0% download.
Just addition. Did you select one update and directly download from Microsoft website, then check if you can
install that update on your server?
    Meanwhile, please run
sfc /scannow command to scan all protected system files and use the inbox
Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool, then check if can help you.
If any update, please feel free to let us know.
    Hope this helps.

  • Windows Updates stuck for weeks in Software Center

    Hi,
Microsoft updates getting stuck at downloading and shows "Waiting to install" status for many weeks. Client machine shows only " Machine policy and User policy" cycles in Control panel. Found the SCCM client is unhealthy and followed
the below steps to cleanup and install SCCM client freshly:
    * open command prompt as "Run as Admiistrator" and run ccmcleanup.exe
    * then run ccmsetup.exe
    * Open "Configuration Manager" under control panel and check the Actions tab. It shows only "Machine policy retrieval & evaluaition cycle" and "User policy retrieval & evaluation cycle"
Please guide on how to fix this issue
    Regards, Lorin Davis

If you are missing that many actions under the Actions tab, the client is probably not installed correctly.  Also, you may want to manually remove the SCCM client and start over if you've run the cleaner against it. This link will show you what needs
to be removed.  Then, you can do a fresh install of the client.
    http://eskonr.com/2013/01/sccm-configmgr-how-to-remove-client-manually-without-ccmsetup-exe/
Have a look at your CAS.log, EXECMgr.log, and WUAHandler.log.  You will probably find that the system cannot contact the source of the updates.  (Usually a boundary issue)

  • Windows updates fail to download and install again and again

    Good Afternoon
I have recently bought this sat pro lap top on the package was both windows vista home premium. I also decided to change ispn at the same time. The provider also gives Norton Firewall Virus Intrusion etc etc.
Microsoft would not validate my system but after 2 hours on the phone with them and a system restore they agreed I had purchased valid stuff and fixed it.
Now it seems windows updates icon appears ask me do I want to download and install.
I do but each time it fails there are about 11 things that fail none install. I rang Microsoft today they did one or tow things but say it the PC Toshiba fault.
Any one please had this happen to them and have got the solution(s) ???
Please take into consideration my pc knowledge can be written on the back of a postage stamp. Keep it like me simple.
    Thanks

Did you try turning off the Firewall or uninstall Norton? Norton may be blocking the Internet Connection.
If the ISP uses a Proxy Server, you need to enter the proxy in Internet Explorer's Connection Settings.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 1334us won't start after windows update, stuck in Error Recovery

My computer is an HP Pavilion dv6 1334us with 32bit-windows 7. The computer did automatic updates and when it started up said there was another one avaliable through WIndows Updater. I installed the update and it said the computer needed to restart for the update to take effect. I choose to restart and the computer wouldn't boot back up, it boots to the 'Windows Error Recovery' screen where my options are 'Launch Startup Repair (recommended)' and 'Start Windows Normally'. When I select the repair, it says it loads windows files, then goes back to the error recovery screen. When I choose to start normally, it freezes the second it trys to start, flashes a blue screen and then returns to the Error Recovery page again.

  • Security updates stuck at downloading (0% complete)

    Hi.
I have a server that I am trying to get the updates to install through software center. I have verified that the correct boundary is created and that the packages are at the DP. In software center all the updates just say downloading (0% complete). I read
about checking IIS and I verified that all the correct settings are in place. I have checked the ContentTransferManager.log file it just states that CTM job {E376AB38-8BAE-41CC-8CDD-6C29A7AF3C37} entered phase CCM_DOWNLOADSTATUS_DOWNLOADING_DATA
Does anyone know what else I can check?
    Thank you.

Does that CTM job belong to the download of your updates? Other client log files that you could check are
LocationServices and CAS. For a list of all the log files, see:

  • MSI GE60, Windows 8: Windows Update stuck at 0KB downloaded and disk at 100%

So I'm having 2 problems with this laptop.
First my disk is most of the time at 100% active time which results in a lag and maybe it will damage the HDD. Here's a pic: http://i.imgur.com/c5tAx8N.png
On the other hand I think this problem is a common Windows 8 bug which can be solved just by updating, but turns out I can't. When I try to update this is what happens: http://i.imgur.com/qPB3HHm.png It says that it's downloading but it gets stuck at 0% and 0KB downloaded. I left it opened for more than an hour and it didn't download a thing. I've tried to run the troubleshooter and in repaired some problems and said something about problems downloading not fixed.
How can I solve this issue? I've tried resetting the laptop but the problem is there from the beginning.

I had the same problem also. I was updating the windows 8 thing and looked for a update and there it was. I accepted and I was stuck for like 15 minutes on 0kb download and my disk was on 100% and lagging ofc. after the 15mins it glitched to 98% done and downloaded like 150mb of crap. apparently if the disk is in use then the windows 8 is downloading the update but its just not showing up. wait a bit and see make sure you have a good connection or else it takes FOREVER. if you already had these disk problems, try to check if a regular windows defrag, maintaencne crap is running. these are automatic and only YOU can turn them off. I hate them and I make my own maintence and defrag.

  • Adobe Community Help Application Updates - Stuck in download process

I read in the forums where people have had problems with the initialization of the download freezing, but my problem is that when I download the local updates... The download itself freezes. When I try to update everything at once, it hangs up every time, so I went to: Adobe Help -> Preferences -> Manually update my locally stored Help content. It lets me download almost all of the files one by one, but by the last couple of them, they start to freeze up. I read in the forums to throw away the application icon and then dump the chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1 folder from library -> preferences and empty my trash (I'm on a MAC... BTW). Then re-install the app from the website. It works until I get to the last couple of downloads... Then they freeze again. This is very frustrating. Is there another way to resolve this issue? I really would like my workflow back. Happy New Year! =)

The uninstall then re-install and download the files one by one thing worked, finally! It only took me two days to update a program that should've taken an hour... MAX! I hope this information helps out the next person that runs into this problem.

  • Windows 8.1 hangs in Windows Update trying to get driver

We have added a Surface Pro 3 running 64 bit Win 8.1 to our home network.  Our desktop running XP has an HP LaserJet 1200 printer attached via USB and it is shared. Our notebook running XP has no problem printing to the LaseJet 1200. On the Surface when trying to add the printer Win 8.1 finds the LaserJet 1200 and invokes Windows Update, presumably to download a 64 bit driver for the printer. Windows Update hangs, that is runs and does not stop. We've let it run for nearly an hour before ending it. I've looked at the HP site for drivers and it seems to imply that Windows Update is the correct way to get th driver we need. Is there another way to do this?

  • Start up slow after a windows update

I feel a little slow in windows start up in my notebook after a windows update, I have downloaded an install an update about 800mb but all components have not been installed successfully, again after one day back there was another update and it has installed successfully in complete.
Is updating windows affect to slow down the PC performance?
    Seek your expert advices?
    Tnx.

You have probably installed too many updates. Windows Update puts many files on the computer to update files. Follow these steps to remove some leftover files.
    1. Click Start.
    2. Search for "Disk Cleanup".
    3. Open Disk Cleanup
    4. Let it search for Windows Update Files. (I don't remember what the actual name is)
    5. Have it clean those files.
    You're done!

  • Vista won't load after Windows Update; HD failure message on Presario A945US

Long story short: Had issues with Windows Update (would not download/install properly), then one day last week, system restarted and now Windows will not load. Safe mode, normal mode, recovery mode all do not work - they just result in a black or blue screen with a visible cursor. To make matters worse, booted in startup check mode and performed a hard drive test which resulted in the following message: "failed - replace hard disk 1 (warranty TD - error code 10008).
    OS:  Vista Home Premium
    Notebook:  Compaq Presario A945US

Here is the output for the following commands
Sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0
    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0
    diskutil list
    diskutil cs list

  • Using FF 6.0.2 on Windows 7 64bit has anyone else noticed slow FF windows updates unless pointer was over a FF window and moving?

I've noticed FF 6.0.2 windows update faster and downloads stay active when the mouse pointer is over a FF window and moving. I've "played" with the download window. When I allow the pointer to just sit, the download usually stops. When I move the pointer, the download resumes. This is verified by the lights on the cable modem showing changes in internet activity.
The same appears true in cases like the FF help search. Type a question and hit return and screen stalls. Move the mouse and the screen refreshes.

    Hello,
I am not very familiar wth Microsoft Security Essentials, but believe that it just makes use of the existing Windows Firewall which is present with the operating system.
To me it is odd that the guest OS reports 192.168.1.254 as the IP address for its gateway and DHCP server yet it cannot access them when pinged.  Let's try pinging from host to guest (and vice-versa)  and see what happens:
From the host OS at 192.168.1.78, try pinging the guest OS at 192.168.1.75.
Then, from the guest OS at 192.168.1.75, trying ping the host OS at 192.168.1.78.
Is each operating system able to ping each other?
