Windows will not install under Mavericks

I am trying to install W7, again, under Mavericks and I cannot do so. Every thing seem to be installed but at start, I get a message that "BOOTMGR is missing, press ctl+alt+delete to restart", but the keyboard (wired and working) will not function so I can do nothing. I have tried more than once. I am trying to install W7 Home Premium and it is a legit disc. I installed the same disc under SN and all was fine.

Are you using Boot Camp, if so then please re-post in the Boot Camp forum. If you are using a virtualization app (Parallels, Fusion, etc) please post in that forum.
These are the best methods for installed Windows, this is a general iMac forum while there are a few people that post here that know MS Windows most are OS X oriented.
Good luck.

  • HT5022 Airport Utility 5.6 will not install under Mountain Lion

I have older Base Station Extreme and Airport Express models that need to be looked after; however, the fix to install Airport Utility 5.6 under Lion will not work under Mountain Lion. The installer complains that "the version of Mac OS X on this volume is not supported". So...suggestions?

That is correct. AirPort Utility 5.6 for OS X Lion will NOT install under OS X Mountain Lion. If you had it already installed, and then upgraded, it would have worked just fine.
One option, is to use Pacifist to extract the utility directly from the .dmg file.

  • Deskjet 3050 J610 will not install on Mavericks or new Router

I have had a deskjet 3050 J610 for a couple years and it has worked fine with our MacBook Pro (with the exception of updates) .  We recently restored our MacBook and added Mavericks.  We also have a new netgear modem/router.  We can not connect the printer to our network or to the laptop wirelessly.  Here is what has happened so far after spending hours attempting everything we could find online with no sucess......
-I can print from the Mac with a USB cable connected to printer
-I've restored the printers default settings
-Printed the HP Network Configuration Page and it shows our Network
It says my HP printer cannot find the access point.
Everything passed except network name found....this failed
    Network status-Offline
embedded web server-http://0.0.0.0      I can't even get to the webpage
    network name (SSID)-HPJ610a.0798A0
    ip address-not applicable
The blue light for wireless flashes on printer.
When I go to Wireless Menu it says wireless radio is on.
My next option is Settings, Under Settings I have Disable, WPS and Defaults.
Under WPS I get Push Button or PIN......neither worked.
Printer DOES NOT have a wireless setup wizard!
I have checked for updates on the Mac and do not have any (Original CD not compatible with Mavericks).  When I go to System Preferences-Print/Scan, it shows the printer as disabled.  I tryed downloading software & drivers from HP's website, but when I go to my Applications menu, there is not an HP folder/icon.
    PLEASE HELP!!

    Hi,
Currently a full feature software is not available for your products for Mavericks, however there are some other workarounds to connect the printer to your network.
Please follow these steps to create a temporary ad-hoc connection and then set the wireless connection through the printer's EWS page:
On the printer click on Wireless, then select Reset Wireless.
Turn the printer Off and back On.
If the wireless light is not blicking, click the wireless button and turn the Wireless Radio On.
From your Mac click the Wireless icon and then on Join Other Networks.
Click on Show network and connect to the printer SSID which includes J610 as part of its name.
Note: Allow 1-2 minutes to fully establish the temporary connection.
Open Safary, then click the Bonjour menu and select the listed Deskjet 3050.
Note: if there is no Bonjour option at the top menu, click Safary > Preferences > Advanced and check both of the Include Bonjour options at that screen. click OK and the Bonjour menu will appear.
Go to Network / Wireless and follow the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect the printer to your home network.
On your Mac click the WiFi icon and reconnect the Mac to your home network.
Now both your Mac and the printer are connected to your network, go to Printers & Scanners and add the printer by clicking the plus sign.

  • A program designed for windows will not install

I have been trying install the latest version of the Roche Accu-Chek Compass software on my new MacBook with Leopard, Bootcamp and the latest updated version of Windows XP all installed. The installation disk is OK (It installs on another PC OK. Accu-Chek support have been unable to help so far. I wonder if anyone else has had similar problems or can make any suggestions? The install wizard appears to start OK but then stops and a pop-up headed Install Error detected appears, saying "Install encountered an unexpected error please try again"
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have found a solution! Download and install VM Fusions then install Accu-Chek Compass - it then works like a dream. In fact I am delighted with VM Fusions it seems work in the way I had hoped that Bootcamp would. I have obtained the 30 day trial version from
    http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/
Hope this helps. ( I have no connection with VM Ware other than as a potential customer)

    Hi @leslie60 ,
I see that you are having issues installing the printer. After extracting the downloaded drivers, they disappear. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Something is preventing the setup program from recognizing files from this download.
I will provide you with some steps for editing the registry to resolve this issue in a Private Message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
Before doing any of the steps, back up the registry first. Back up the registry.
Please let me know the results.
    Have a nice day!

  • ICloud Control Panel for Windows will not install on Win 7 64-bit

I already installed iTunes 10.5 and I downloaded the iCloud Control Panel for Windows and when I tried installing it I got the following error message:
I cannot find a a 64-bit of iCloud (if that is what I need). The 64-bit iTunes installed ok. What am I doing wrong?

I don't know how to answer that question, Rob, or why I would be able to. Obviously people will have different configutrations. It really just points to the question I am asking. I can only assume Adobe hasn't tested it thoroighly enough and is not making any effort to find out why, which suggests to me they don't really care enough about their users to bother. This issue has been raised often enough and nothing has been done.

  • Windows will not install

I have a new iMac 2.4 ghz Core 2 Duo. My co-worker installed Windows directly on it without using boot camp. We fixed the mistake and setup Leopard OS X and created a GUID Partition table. Leopard now works great. next we used boot camp to partition the hard drive. After putting in the Windows XP CD and the computer restarts a flash black underscore remains on the screen and nothing else happens.
    Could someone please help?

Is your XP SP2 install disk slipstreamed? If so it may not work. Boot Camp is very fussy when it comes to this...
I have a suggestion, if you so happen to have any sort of Vista install or upgrade disk available. Put in the Vista disk, let it run, don't put in any serial or set it up. Then go back with your install disk and install XP over what you just did. Basically what you are trying to accomplish with this is setting up a bootable NTFS volume; once you have that you should be able to install whatever reasonable Win OS you wish. Yes, I realize I'm getting into shades of legal grey with this, but it works, and it will get you where you are going.

  • Windows Will Not Install on A21M.

    Hello All,
I have an A21m laptop which is having issues with Windows installation.
Two seperate Windows XP install cd's along with a Windows 2003 install cd fail to complete the install.
It always stops at the '34 minutes remaining...' portion of the Windows install for XP.
Anyone seen this issue before or have any clue as to what's happening here?
    Any help is much appreciated!

I was referring to the mini-PCI card which is in your laptop, and can be accessed from the bottom of the machine, by opening one of the 2 doors you have there-the other door covers RAM.
Remove the card and start the install over, and let's see what happens.
Good luck and let us know.
    Cheers,
    George

  • The latest itunes for windows will not install

I have an old PC running windows and I want to transfer my itunes songs to my ipad. I can't do this until I update iTunes but trying to update does nothing, either from iTunes or from the web page. I've tried rebooting the PC, still doesn't work. How do I get iTunes to update? Or, how do I transfer to the iPad without updating? The version of iTunes I have is older than 10.5, not sure where to find version #. Thanks!

Hi b noir, thanks for offering to help. i documented the whole process:
Itunes transfer from pc to ipad.
    1. Connect ipad to PC
    2. Pc recognizes ipad as a camera, gives me list of programs to launch, not sure if this has any relevance, no itunes on list, instead its kodak easyshare, ms doc wizard, ms camera sharing, ms word,mp navagator ex, omnipage, photoshop - I ignore this screen
    3. Launch itunes, get screen, "ipad requires v 10.5 or later' go to itunes.com. I click ok
    4. I get screen, still in itunes, "a new version (10.7) is available." I click download.
    5. That screen goes away but nothing happens. No download starts.
    6. Checked itunes folder on my hard drive, no sign that anything new has downloaded
    7. Launch safari, go to itunes.com, hit download button
    8. Nothing seems to be happening.
    9. I get "thank you for downloading itunes" screen.
    10. Still nothing new in itunes folder.
    11. Get AVG screen telling me to restart my pc to finish download process.
    12. During shutdown, I get screen,"the instruction at 0x100066dd referenced memory at 0x100066dd. The instruction could not be read." Gave me options to terminate program or debug. I did not choose either. No idea if this is relevant.
    13. PC rebooted anyway.
    14. Launched itunes
    15. Got same message as before - "ipad requires v 10.5 or later' go to itunes.com. I click ok
    16. Even though ipad is plugged in all this time, the screen that thinks the ipad is a camera does not come up this time.
    17. There is nothing to the left of the itunes interface that lists devices - this is where ipad would appear, right?
    18. Ipad appears on My Computer control panel
    19. My version of itunes is 10.3.1.55
    20. In itunes, i go to Help - Run Diagnostics - run all but Cd/Dvdtest
    21. Secure Link to Itunes store failed, everything before that is ok. I click Help. nothing happens. Store appears in itunes so I don't see why this would fail.
    22. Since help doesn't work, I move on in test. Two more fail screens: itunes helper not running, no ipad found. help brings up appropriate pages for both. Both recommend removing and reinstalling itunes.
    23. Device sync also fails.
If it would be quickest to delete and reinstall itunes, I am willing to do that. My music would not be deleted correct? What about playlists (not as important to me).
I also have all my music backed up to CD. It would be tedious to copy that all to ipad, but if there is a way to do it and no other option, I could do that.

  • Photoshop CS6 for windows will not install.

I have already copied the lesson files to my hard drive as the book instructs, however there is no autorun screen, or even a shortcut/icon that says Adobe Photoshop, the same applies for Adobe Bridge. What am I doing wrong? I need this for a college course and have already missed an assignment because I cannot get it to work. Please help?

    Products
Here is a link to the Student Store -- you should be eligible for a discount through your school. I don't see CS6 on there, so you may have to get the cloud instead to get the discount. (You can find out from the chat window that will show up if you stay on the page for a few minutes). If you just need Photoshop, the Photographers bundle is the best deal.

  • Itunes for windows will not install

SInce Christmas, I have tried installing iTunes for my Ipod shuffle. I have NIS and I've followed some instructions I found on a thread to add itunes and ipod into my programs and "permit all"- that usually freezes the computer. I wind up sending error reports to windows and cold booting the computor. I think I successfully installed both itunes and ipod into My Computer/Downloads. However- - neither via shortcut on my desktop or thru programs can I access itunes. The icon is there, and nothing happens. I am pretty sure it has to do wit NIS. In one instance I did try disabling the security and firewall features- but a lot of crap got onto my desktop. help!

    Kellie,
remind me, did you try an EWIDO scan? Sounds like a malware problem to me. Go download EWIDO, its free and the only program that I know of that is catching the particular variant of malware that is blocking iTunes. Its a nasty bug that started showing up in October or so.
    The website is www.ewido.net/en/
Use that scan about twice a week. It blows Mcafee and Norton out of the water.
    Good Luck.
PS I recommend picking up LsvaSoft's AdAware SE, its free and available for free downloads on their website. It scans and removes spyware. Use that twice a week as well to maintain a healthy PC.

  • Juniper networks VPN: Network Connect will not install under Snow Leopard

Created different thread based on the topics from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2130935.
With new install of Snow Leopard i get the following when trying to log into SSL VPN "Could not launch. Please restart the web browser and try again"
can not do the workarounds from the above thread since none of the directories exist. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I ran into this too (made matters worse by cleaning out the old juniper install). What I understand clearly now, which other discussions with all the happiness from people saying they fixed it seem to miss completely: Juniper only works if you installed it prior to upgrading 10.6. If you did not, you are possibly hosed.
Now, I was hosed, but I found a workaround. Find a stand-alone installer .dmg out there. As of a couple days ago it was there. I'm sure it still is. Google it. NetworkConnect.dmg.
It is version 6.0.0. It installs correctly. My company runs 6.4.0, which means the first time you open NetworkConnect after installing it prompts you to upgrade. The upgrade worked fine, so long as I was running as root.
Which brings me to my original problem which I've not seen anyone else complain about, which has me worried: after installing, NC only actually connects and functions when I run as root. I'm not talking about su - root or using sudo, I mean having to graphically switch users and log into the computer as the root user (after enabling it...using the scenableroot I think, something like that).
Has anyone else seen this behavior? I can launch Network Connect as my real user but it immediately fails with a software error. 'ncproxyd.error: Failed to gain root privileges'. Driving me batty.
