Wireless connection to my Laptop (Windows 8) and my HP 5520

My HP 5520 all in one printer is having problems connecting wirelessly  (it may be since I had BT Infinity router installed) I get message unable to connect to printer, but when I check the printer window says printer is connected to the correct IP address,If I switch printer off & back on again all is fine for a while until I have a break from printing of half hour or more when I get the same message,I can also restore it by using the wireless set up proceedure & pressing the button on the router, but again it seems to lose contact after a break of half hour or so,I have been on to  Know How team as printer is under guarantee but they dont seem able to help  ????

Hi Mick25,
I have seen the IPV6 cause interference before, often times turning this feature off will resolve the issue.
On the front screen of the printer please touch the Wireless icon. There are 4 icons across the top, the Wireless is the second one from the left. In the Wireless Menu, arrow down to Advanced Settings. I would like to turn off the IPV6, arrow down to IPV6 and select OFF.
If this does not resolve the issue, you may consider setting a static IP. Use the following link for instructions written by PrintDoc.
Please let me know if one of these solutions resolves the issue. I will gladly follow up if you require further assistance.
Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.

  • WRT54G v.5 will not stay connected to new laptop/Windows 7 Premium

WRT54G v.5 will not stay connected to new laptop/Windows 7 Premium. It continuously runs through a cycle of detecting, connecting, losing connection; detecting, connecting, losing connection, etc. A the router runs through this cycle, basically acting as if I have disconnected then reconnected to power to reset it, it disrupts my Internet connection to both my wired iMac and other, wireless desktop upstairs. Paid for Linksys support today and through remote access he set up a new network on my desktop (iMac). After he finished, the problem still existed. When I told him the problem hadn't been fixed,  he told me just wait for an hour or so and it should work itself out. It, of course, did not work itself out. Any ideas out there?

Never mind-I seem to have fixed the problem with a simple firmware upgrade. Funny how the Linksys support technician didn't think to ask what version of the router I have or suggest that I should try upgrading the firmware first. He was, however, quite good at trying to upsell me to a new router instead of trying to help me fix the problem I was having. Makes me want to go buy Netgear next time, thank you very much!

I want to delete a few contacts, apps, pics etc from my iphone, but when I delete and connect to my laptop they sync and come back again. How can I delete those items and not get them back when I connect my iphone to my laptop?
Also where exactly on the laptop is teh data stored.
    Thank you!!

go to 'Edit' in the menu bar. Then choose 'Preferences'.
you'll see a pop-up and there's a tab called 'Devices' there. If you click that, you will be able to check a box that says 'prevent automatic syncing for iPods, iPads and iPhones' or something like that.
    Hope this helps
NB: if you don't even see the menu bar that has options like 'File, Edit, View, etc', first click the black/white square button on the top left of your screen, and then click 'show menu bar'. It should pop right up.
    Good luck

I had my schools iPad connected to my laptop on iTunes and then i looked at my iPad and i didnt have any of my apps. How do i get them back?

U must have synced with your library on your laptop thereby erasing the school apps , the only way to get them back on is by taking it back to school and get them to reinstall them back on using there library.

  • Fix for Airport Wireless Connection Problem stating Self-Assigned IP and not wanting to connect in Lion OSX.

Fix for Airport Wireless Connection Problem stating Self-Assigned IP and not wanting to connect in Lion OSX.
Bought my girlfriend the newest Macbook Pro 13" and began experiencing problems with my wifi the moment we got home. Her Macbook would not connect to our home Wi-Fi while my old Macbook Late 2008 running Snow Leopard connected without a problem. Airport would say that it had a Self-Assigned IP address (168.x.x.x). Did not realize it was a Lion problem until after using her Macbook Pro and becoming jealous of the new OSX, I upgraded. Soon after I was unable to go online. Luckily I had my iPad 2 and I began to scoure the net for help. Ran into allot of suggestions but it was not until I tried the following all together was I able to share the good new, from my Macbook. Hope this works:
First go to Preferences > Network and click on the cog next to the + and - on the sidebar and click Set Service Order
         - Move Wi-Fi to the top and click ok.
         - Set location to Automatic
         - Click Apply
         - Click Advanced
         - Click the "-" on the selected Wi-Fi router you wish to connect to
         - Click Apply
         - Click Lock to Prevent Further Changes
Go to your Mac's harddrive, (Macintosh)
         - Go to Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration >
         - Delete "com.apple.airport.preferences.plist" file
    Turn off your computer
         - push and hold Option+Command+R+P
         - turn on computer
         - when the grey screen turns on you will hear the OS X "ON" sound (for lack of a proper term) and it will momentarily restart.
         - you will once again hear the "ON" sound, let go of all keys.
         - this resets your PRAM
Go to Preferences > Network > Advanced > + sign
         - click Choose a Network
         - Select your network and enter password
Viola!!! I tried this on my Macbook Late 2008 and my girlfriends new Macbook Pro 2010

No you are clearly mistaken. The Self-Assigned IP address problem exists on many Macbook Pro models, including the current model, which I mentioned as being the original computer with the problem. While my 2008 Macbook is older it was working perfectly on Snow Leopard and didn't suffer issues until switching to Lion. So clearly the problem exists on the operating system and not so much the hardware.
I called Apple Support  and they had no fix for the problem and told me that this would hopefully be addressed in a subsequent update. It wasn't until I came accross the answer after trying many different methods that I got both of the Macbooks to connect to my router. Otherwise I wouldn't or could not have been surfing the internet for the last 4 months.
    Cheers.

  • HP C4780 won't print even though it's wireless connected to my laptop and home network.

Help! I just moved and am trying to set up my Photosmart C4780 to my AT&T 2Wire router (my last router was Netgear and I had no problems with installation/setup).  I installed the printer and it seems to be connected to my laptop (OS is Windows 7 32-bit)and network but it just won't print (excel, word, internet page, etc.). I've run the network configuration scan, wireless network report, print diagnostic, and hardware diagnostic. Everything checks out but the test page print will not print. When I try to print some from Word, it gives me a pop up error box saying "Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup." I don't know what else to try!
    Thanks in advance!

On my Dell Latitude D620, Windows XP 32 bit system and my 6510 printer wireless connection (Linksys EA4500) , everything works fine after the computer is booted.  After a period of time (usually overnight), I lose connection to the printer (the scanner icon with a red x is shown on my Windows task bar and I can't print.  Ran Windows Fix and the HP fix programs.  The only thing that solves it is to reboot the computer.  A second symptom is that my IE8 stops connecting to the internet at the same time (gives a 'waiting for' response that never changes).  Firefox still connects OK when this is happening.  So I suspect the problem isn't with the printer, but with my Windows set up.  It is a fresh XP SP3 install (hard drive crashed, but it happened before also).  I reset IE, checked my proxy, no malware, happens with or without firewalls and security programs.
Hoping that someone else has run into this problem.  Been all over Google, and the IE doesn't work / Firefox works is fairly common, but none of the fixes helps.

If you want you can reload Firefox 4.0 or the last "old" version is 3.6.16 and is available here:
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Just reinstall your choice of FF. The bookmarks are in a different directory and are NOT overwritten. Some of the Add-ons that worked in 3.6 DO NOT work with 4.0, pay attention and head any warnings when you start 4.0.
I had to disable extensions: Flashblock and WOT
Firefox SafeMode? - A troubleshooting mode.
1.You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the Shft key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut to open it again.

  • How to secure wireless connection with additional laptop and ipod touch.

    Hello,
We are new to Mac and struggling with internet security.
We have a wireless internet dongle that connects into a USB port and some days our ipod touch can connect other days it cant, I am never prompted for a password to connect.  This morning we were setting up a new laptop for our daughter and it found our wireless network and informed us it was unsecured. So we assume anyone within range is utilising our wireless connection.
If I turn on firewalls it shuts off everything, if we look at airport we get even more confused.
Is there a simple way to resolve this so our internet connection is for our house only and new devises that try to connect need to enter a password.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Wireless Connection Problems for Home Hub 3 and Vi...

We have upgraded from BT Home Hub 2 to version 3 and had a BT man (engineer) visit to set it up. He did so with no problems on our PC (wired, runnning XP) and installed all relevant software on the PC and this is connected which so far has been fast (enough - as expected) and reliable. Once the 'main' computer in the house was connected we then tried to connect other things to the internet using this BT Hub 3.
However when attempting to connect our family laptop (running Vista) we hit trouble. Initially I tried to use the icon in the tray (bottom right of the screen) by clicking on connect to a network, then selecting our hub, then inputting the wireless key and going through the menus correctly. It would only connect 'locally' and not recognise the hub. It says identifying then says unidentified (public network BT Hub 3) and only 'local' access which I then change to private network. With my preivious internet I was able to set it up as Home network - now I can only choose between public or private BUT NOT Home, Work or Public.
So I then tried the BT disc that comes with the hub into the laptop. I go through the menus - it asks is the broadband light steady blue? Yes. Click next to continue wireless set up. So I press continue. It then asks for the wireless network/SSID BTHub3- numbers and letters and the wireless key. So I put that in correctly (double checking) and click next. It then says Connecting to your Hub which then gets ticked but then the checking wireless key doesn't tick - it crosses, and says failed. It asks me to check I typed the numbers and letters correctly (I am sure of that) and It goes to Manuel set up. Where I select my hub and again type in the wireless key and click next. But the same thing happens - connecting to your hub gets ticked but checking wireless key fails.
I then get a message that says i should do a wired set up, which I can do and works but on the laptop wired solutions is just not satisfactory - laptops need wireless connectivity. Is this a problem with my laptop, Vista or the hub/modem or a combination.
I also have been able to connect other things to the internet such as a netbook (running Windows 7) and a games console. Please comment if anthing needs explaining or more detail. Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

John46: I uninstalled the Hub programmes you said to. I then tried to connect to a network (wirelessly - accessed either by going to Start - Connect to or from the icon in the tray (bottom right). I selected my hub and clicked connect. It does its thing and says 'successfully connected to...' I close that and go onto Network and Sharing Center and it shows its trying to identify the network and wait a few seconds it then shows 'unidentified network (public network)...' and that I have only got local access and so cannot surf the web.
As I mentioned in my earlier post:
With my previous Internet I was able to set it up as Home network - now I can only choose between public or private BUT not got the choice between Home, Work or Public.
    Hope I've explained myself.

  • Cisco 1811W stopped allowing wireless connection of domain laptops

I have a Cisco 1811W that after several years in service suddenly stopped allowing any wireless connection to laptops on the domain. It allows hard wired connections and devices that are just using the wireless hot spot like iPads and Iphones but not devices on the domain. These same laptops connect wirelessly without issue at our other facilities which use the same hardware.

It was a two fold problem.  There is another stronger Wi-Fi signal that exists at the facility from another entity on a different domain that the two laptops were trying to associate to in lieu of the network signal from our 1811.  This could only be seen while watching the Intel wireless Proset app NOT the Windows wireless management app.  Then by deleting all other old Wi-Fi networks listed in the Intel Proset app except ours it connected.  Also set devices to never connect to the other signal.  This was not an issue when I brought the laptop to another faciIity without a competing Wi-Fi signal becuase they would connect using the strongest and ONLY Wi-Fi network signal which was ours.
