Wireless USB Adapters compatible with 10.8

Since updating to Mountain Lion 10..8.2 on my MBP 2008 - 8 gig Ram, the system will not start up when my USB wireless stick is attached. Once I remove it, the system starts up fine. Pop it back in and it shuts down. I can plug other devices including USB music Keyboard, iphone without any problems. Occasionally I can insert the usb stick and wireless actually works but it is intermittent.
I use the stick as the wireless hardware inside the MBP is damaged and have been using it like this for around a year on Snow Leopard without any problems. I also updated the drivers for my USB stick which is made by Realtek.
I repaired disk permissions and reinstalled Mountain Lion before posting this but the problem still persists.
Does anyone recommend any USB adapters that are compatible with 10.8??
Kind Regards

I personally own the first two, and they work perfectly with the AEBSn. All 4 use the same chipset, so I assume that the last two should work also.

  • Is wireless keyboard A1016 compatible with Windows 7?

Does anyone know if the apple wireless keyboard model A1016 is compatible with WIndows 7? I installed Windows 7 on my late-2006 imac. The bluetooth add a device feature finds the keyboard, but it doesn't add it. The blue circle of death just keeps on spinning like it is contemplating adding the device, but it never does, no matter how long I let it go. I was able to add the mouse pretty easily.

I am getting the blue circle of configuring device (the Apple Wireless (Bluetooth) A1016 keyboard)on my Mac-Mini after installing Windows 7 Ultimate and Boot Camp. Funny thing, it worked before running Boot Camp driver install from the Snow Leopard OS X install disc. On my previous install of Windows 7 beta, I made the note not to install Boot Camp...

  • What wireless router is compatible with Mac OS X 10.8.1?

I just purchased a new cisco Linksys wireless router that is not compatible with OS X 10.8.1.  Which routers ARE compatible, besides the Apple AirPorts?

Your Linksys router should be compatible, however the firmware might need updating once you get online.
Your router will have an IP address in the ranges 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.1.-
Connect your router to your Mac via Ethernet cable (They usually supply one with the router and don't worry which end goes where the Mac LAN socket is bi-directional)
Also connect your router to your telephone line - Its likely you have an ADSL service because if you have a cable service they provide a modem normally.
Now open your Web browser (Safari is the only one installed be default) . Type in the IP address and a Javascript control panel will launch
Enter the default password and username (They are on a label on the router )
Your now have the ability to set up your router.
Your will need the password and user name supplied to you by your ISP at a minimum.
Enter these and most modern routers automatically configure the basic networking setting.
You now need to go to the security setting and set this as WPA2 Personal (NOT Enterprise) or WPA2 with AES and TKIP which ever it refers to and create a pass-phase. WRITE it down
    You should be online.
Your router may need a firmware update LInksys units usually do but that is a different and long story for a separate thread.
Personal experiences with Linksys routers in the Mac evironment are not so good and they have tended to get hot lock up or fall over from time to time resulting a hard reboot being necessary.
To-date the very best and most stable performance has been with an Airport Extreme/Time capsule connected to a cable modem.
Regrettably you still need a separate modem to use this with ADSL services.
Shootist007 the fact that Apple use a separate full application (Actually two are available at the moment 5.6 for enterprice and 6.1 for home networking) gives direct control rather than relying on javascript and firmware errors.
    Its actually a better solution

  • Is a DKE-2 USB cable compatible with HP Pavillion ...

I tried to connect my Nokia 5300 using the DKE-2 USB cable but it just won't connect to my PC. I've tried checking it on My Computer but it doesn't show up on devices with removable storage. I just want to know if it is compatible with HP Pavillion.

    @lilac:
when you connect the phone to the pc, keep your eye on the phone.
On my 5300 the message is: "USB cable conncected, Select mode". Press Ok to acknowledge the message, and you are moved to a menu where you can choose
    - "Nokia mode" (= PC Suite compatible)
    - "Printing and media" (dunno myself what this is for... RTFM)
    - "Data Storage" (= Mass storage device, like an external hard disk)
You should go with "Nokia mode" if you want PC Suite to recognize the phone.
You should go with "Data Storage" if you just want to see the phone's memory card as a disk, and move files to/from as if it were a disk.

  • USB drives compatible with MAC and Win

Can anyone help me out. I need to encrypt my USB drive but such that it can be decrypted by both my Mac and a Windows machine.
    1) If I encrypt the USB drive using the MAC to create an encrypted disk image, will the Windows machine be able to access this disk image?
    2) Is there a decent USB drive on the market with encryption software compatible with both Mac and Windows machines?
Thanks for any help (and excuse my Mac ignorance !)

I have the same issue and ended up damaging my USB when Sandisk tried to format it so it can be used for MAC. Its very frustrating that all these big companies can't make MAC compatible software. What's more frustrating is that they advertise their product saying it works with WINDOWS n MAC but when you go check out the encryption software then its only windows compatible.

  • Usb wifi compatible with osx 10.8

Hi I need to buy a usb wifi adapter for my macbook pro 13' mid 2009. The airport card won't work anymore. It's not a problem with airport itself, it seems the problem has something to do with some sort of connection problem between the airport card, bluetooth, the webcam and the mother board, and to repair that connection would be expensive. Does anyone know of any usb wifi adapter which would work with osx 10.8? 150 or 300 MPS? Thank you.

Pages 5 is not compatible with OSX 10.8, or anything else much.
    Page '09 is compatible.

  • FireWire/USB hubs compatible with a Dual 2.0 GHZ G5

    Hello,
I have a IOGEAR 7 port Firewire - usb hub connected to my dual 2.0ghz G5. Often when I start my G5 there won't be any working firewire and/or usb port. Sometimes they work, but overall is a pain./ Sometimes repairing permissions or reseting the nvram or all helps solve the problem.
Anyway, I would assume that the Hub is having some issues with the Firewire power coming from the G5
I am trying to find a list of Firewire/USB Hubs which Apple officially have said are compatible with the G5.
Do you guys know any of those?
    Thank you

Q: Why start 2nd thread, even if one reply didn't fit or provide the options you wanted to hear?

I still think save and consider the next revision to the iMac line rather than throw more at your G5.
SATA drives that you can use now and in the future are likely to be safe investments.
People have used 3 x 10K VelociRaptors, along with cheaper but still fast WD Caviar 640GB as a great way to improve performance. SSDs are fast but probably for 1st gen G5 would require a PCI-X controller.

  • Is the USB Superdrive compatible with Windows?

    Hi all,
I have a Retina MacBook Pro and needed to install Windows today (using Paralells but I'm not sure this matters in this case).
I went to a Mac shop and was about to buy a USB Superdrive before the assistant assured me that Apple has totally locked down the firmware so it won't work with Windows.
I find this to be unlikely, considering OSX ships with Bootcamp with the intention of people running Windows it seems bizarre that Apple expect these folks to go without a CD drive.
Can anyone shed any light on this please?
    Thanks

Hmm, in that case I may need to consult with the Paralells guys as that is what I would be using in this instance. I wonder if it works with a straight up Windows machine.
    Thanks

  • Is USB 3 compatible with USB 2 peripherals?

Can USB 2 peripherals (hard drives, USB microphones, et al) be used with a MacBook Air that only has USB 3 jacks?

You are correct. However, if you daisy-chain a USB 2 device to a USB 3 device you may well find that both devices operate at the speed of the slower device. I don't know that they can run independently off the same port.
I've used a USB mic in the past, though not on a MBA.
