WLAN disconnects after transferring 150Mb+ of data (smb/inet)

I keep getting some peculiar behavior from my
01:05.0 Ethernet controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR5212/AR5213 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)
card. I am able to connect to my WLAN fine, the signal is relatively strong (70%+) and the connection is stable. I am using wicd with the gnome applet, dhcpcd/netctl services are not set to run at startup. Wicd seems to be starting its own instance of dhcpcd though.
I can browse the net just fine, and I can also download files < 150Mb. However, if I try to copy a file bigger than that over smb or download one from the internet, the connection starts to stall after a minute, and then times out.
Journalctl output shows me connecting to the smb share and starting to copy a file, which goes fine for seven minutes, except it's getting progressively slower, until it drops the connection.

The first message of interest is "carrier lost". No details on why.
I see it saying "deauthenticated by local choice (reason 3)" at some point when it tries to reconnect, which is "The access point went offline, deauthenticating the client." according to this link. It did not though, I am monitoring the wireless log on my router and what I see there is the laptop disappearing, while the other clients stay in list.
This is not what always happens though, as I've also seen it state "reason 4" - "Client session timeout exceeded." I can also see the "bandwidth" parameter of the card decreasing over time from 54 to 5Mbps on the wireless log of my router.
There is also a "dhcpcd not running" message which I attempted to fix by starting the dhcpcd.service as mentioned on the wiki, but it didn't change anything. I have also tried switching to dhclient in the wicd applet, but that doesn't change the behavior.
It also does not matter how close to the AP I am - the timeout/disconnect happens even if I place the laptop near the router (100% signal). The behavior stays the same, good transfer speed which then seemingly decays over time.
I do have the nohwcrypt=1 in module options (ath5k.conf) and the module is loaded as such:
sudo modprobe -v ath5k
insmod /lib/modules/3.14.0-4-ARCH/kernel/net/wireless/cfg80211.ko.gz
insmod /lib/modules/3.14.0-4-ARCH/kernel/net/mac80211/mac80211.ko.gz
insmod /lib/modules/3.14.0-4-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath.ko.gz
insmod /lib/modules/3.14.0-4-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath5k/ath5k.ko.gz nohwcrypt=1
I added it in an attempt to fix the speed drop/disconnect, and it did seem to help with the speed at least. Disconnect still happens though.
Any idea what I could do to fix that? I've seen similar threads, but all of them seem to either get random disconnects or fail to connect to the WLAN right away. Do tell me if you need me to provide more information.

After transferring my iTunes data from my old to the new windowsPC following exactly the original apple instructions everything LOOKS allright when I start iTunes on my new PC. But when I click the song as usual, it doesn't start playing, although the little loudspeaker symbol on the left side appears. What went wrong, what can I do?

I’m using the AirTunes-Feature to stream my music form my computer to my amplifier. I’m working with a Lenovo (IBM) Thinkpad T61 with Windows XP SP2.
The streaming works well for about 20 minutes. After that my WLAN network-interface disconnects form the WLAN. I have to use the windows repair function to get iz restarted.
I’ve already disabled all energy-saving settings, updated the WLAN driver and disabled the firewall but the problem still remains. Maybe this problem isn’t really related to iTunes, but perhaps someone in this forum has an idea anyway...
Thanks a lot and best regards from Hamburg,
    Dirk

If it's every 20 minutes, that sounds like some kind of timer setting.
So look for any kind of setting that is 20 minutes?

after transfering data froAm my pc to mac using windows migration assist, where do the data go to on my mac please?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
By default, Migration Assistant creates a new user account where it puts all the transferred data. Just go to  > Log Out, and log in the new user that Migration Assistant has created, so you will be able to access to the transferred data.
If you want to merge the data into the first user account, use the Shared folder (it's in /Users/Shared) to put the transferred files there, and then, on the first user, go to the Shared folder and put all the data in the folders you want

  • 10gOAS RepCA into db disconnects after TS creation

    Hi,
Trying to use RepCA to install into my existing database. Have confirmed all the options, parameters, etc per install instructions.
Looking at Log, installer disconnects after successful tablespace creation. GUI indicates breakdown when it tries to connect as WKSYS.
Can't work around, since the RepCA drops the WK users and tablespaces before doing anything.
    NonRAC, NonRaw install on Win2K.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Scott Rappoport, OCP

  • All USB drives disconnect after upgrade and clean install of MAC OS X Mavericks

I first upgraded to Mavericks and noticed that my external USB dries would disconnect after MBP Retina Mid 2012 model was updated to Mavericks.  These worked fine in all versions of Mac OS X before upgrade.  So I did a clean install figured my machine would benifit from this anyway. This did NOT fix the problem.
Wouldn't be much of an issue but I use this macine as a media server with Plex and all the media is in one of the external USB 3.0 drives.  All drives are from Seagate, and have found no info there.  Guessing this is a bug that Apple needs to fix unless its a Seagate issue which I doubt.
My TEMP FIX while my machine is plugged in to the power adapter and drives.

If the tracks are recognized by your iPod (playable), search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your Mac.
If they're just on your iPod as data, then I'm not certain since I don't use a custom hierarchy, but you should be able to copy the folder back to your iTunes Music folder, turn off the "copy to iTunes library when adding to library" preference, and then use the Add To LIbrary command to get them recognized by iTunes. Again, though, I don't use a custom hierarchy, so you might want to ask that question as a new post, just to get additional opinions.
BTW, an iPod is not a reliable backup for your tracks. Too many situations can arise that would cause your iPod to need to be erased. I strongly recommend that you make backups, particularly of any tracks purchased from the iTunes Music Store or that would otherwise be difficult to replace, to CD, DVD, external hard drive, or other medium.

  • My wireless mouse disconnects after a long sleep, and only rebooting machine makes it come back.

My wireless mouse disconnects after a long sleep time, always overnight, and pushing buttons, replacing batteries, etc. doesn't wake it up again.  I have to reboot the machine, sometimes losing data, in order to make it work again.  I am kinda new to mac, so hopefully I am just missing something easy.

    Maybe something here will help:

  • Click ok to disconnect after syncing

This might be a stupid question but I recently restored my mini and after syncing I get the message "Click OK to disconnect" but I don't see any ok button on the computer screen. Does this mean click on the center button on ipod? I tried that and it didn't work. Also now, I can't manipulate the songs on my ipod when it is plugged into my computer. The songs are in a faded text. Help!

Where do you see this message? On the iPod itself?
I've seen "Ok to disconnect" but never with the word "click" in front of it.
The songs are in a faded text.
That means your iPod is set to auto sync with iTunes.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes version 7 or later, connect the iPod and when you see the summary screen, uncheck the box marked "enable disk use".
If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, right click on the iPod in the source list, select options and uncheck the same box.
In future your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

  • Satellite C660-108 WLAN disconnects on battery power

Have tried to post on an older theread but they are locked as resolved. Well mine isn't. Usual problem of WLAN being fine on mains adaptor but WLAN disconnects from internet intermittenetly on battery power. I have...
    - Adjusted the power save settings
    - Deleted the WLAN (Realtek 8188CE) driver
    - Installed a new driver from the Realtek site
    - Enabled the 802.11d which was disabled.
What have I missed? There's clearly a need for Toshiba to fix this problem with a proper patch.
    Thanks in anticipation..

Just in case you haven't solved this yet, the issue is detailed below.
    Workaround
Bind all SIP traffic to a single interface, ideally the voice vlan interface.
       voice service voip
           sip
             bind all source-interface gigabitEthernet 0/0
Cisco Mobile 8.1 integrated w/CME 8.6. On outgoing calls from Cisco mobile the call will connect, get 2 way audio and then disconnect after
    15-20 seconds.
The problem is that when the call connects the CME sends a 200 OK to the Cisco Mobile app. The Cisco Mobile app fails to send an ACK to CME, so CME keeps sending 200 OK messages until it times out and ends the call.
The problem is related to CME using a different source IP address for SIP traffic than what was used for the endpoint to register. The IP used as the source address under Voice Register Global is what the TCP connection is set up to for an outgoing call. However the CME uses the best address to source traffic from when it is not bound. As these devices are on the WiFi network (not the wired voice network), the CME uses a different address to source the SIP traffic for these calls than what is defined under the voice register pool. This causes an error in the Cisco Mobile App, which is why it fails to return the ACK.
We bound SIP traffic globally under Voice Service Voip to the same IP that was defined under the voice register global. After this the calls worked fine.

  • Nokia E7 WLAN disconnects regularly

Can Nokia PLEASE fix the E7 bug where it doesn't work properly with WPA2 encryption on Wi-fi routers? It's driving me mad.
I've tested everything (devices, routers) and the random disconnects ONLY happen on the E7 and on WPA2.
And yes, I have latest firmware on the E7, running Symbian Anna etc.

I got the same problems on my E7-00.  The wlan disconnects 1 minute without activity. When I manually connect the wlan and use internet connection the wlan are connected as long as I surf.  This occurred after the last system update on my nokia E7. Previously this worked normally.
A friend of mine uses a Nokia E7-00 and has not implemented the last upgrade.  His wlan are connected as long he is in the range of the known wlan.
This bug must be the responsibility of Nokia to fix.

  • WLAN disconnects serveral times

    Hi there,
since some months ago i have the problem, that my WLAN disconnects from the network without any action from my side?! Already checked a driver update, but i cannot find a newer one then November 2004 which is still installed. The following message appears in the windows event manager after the disconnect:
The system detected that network adapter \DEVICE\TCPIP_{467E7AC0-72A8-49D3-B290-7A66F008C581} was disconnected from the network, and the adapter's network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated drivers.
Can anybody please help to get the downloads working again? ;-)
    Thanks a lot,

    Hi,
you write nothing about which WLAN card is used in your notebook .... how should anybody know which WLAN card is used in your notebook (you write nothing .. no notebook model, no WLAN card vendor) :\
If a Intel 2200BG WLAN card is installed in your notebook, there's a new driver available which improve the signal quality or rather the disconnect's from Access points (known failure of the old driver). The Version number of the new Driver is V9.0.2.31 - you can download it here:
    http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/cs-010623.htm
For other WLAN cards please refer to the vendor site.

  • Wlan disconnects

    Hi,
When i'm in the house I connect to my wlan, but after a while it disconnects automatically.
Anyboddy who now how to make it stay on the wlan until I disconnect it manually ??
    Jobadk

I had the same issue like you in the first minutes when I got the N8. After playing with the settings and changing security in my router, I managed to make my N8 keep the connection. The irony now is that it never lets it go!!!!
It constantly reconnects to my router all day long. Be happy that your disconnects, mine doesn't

  • Blank login screen on the iPad keeps popping up and wifi disconnecting after 20 seconds

hi, we have an ipad running IOS 5 that keeps having a blank login screen on the iPad keeps popping up and wifi disconnecting after 20 seconds.
I am yet to find out why this is, any clues?  (note that both apple.com and facebook are blocked at the router, but nothing else)...

actually we cannot due to policy reasons... it appears through testing that the iPad is phoning home and sending private data to Apple regardless, it is also odd they placed these PRIVACY settings in About hidden away so that no-one knows they are there.
From the iPad homescreen, tap on Settings > General > About
Tap on "Diagnostics & Usage" > select "Don't Send"
So... anyone else know why if we block Apple, the iPad disconnects from the internet via Wifi?
