WLS 5.1 SP9 Hangs

I'm trying to troubleshoot a situation in which an WLS based application is
hanging on an HP system running UX 11.0. When the problem happens, the CPU
utilization on the box goes to 100% and the instance of WLS stops
responding. We had started the process and left running in the foreground
and tried generating a thread dump at the point of the hang with a kill -3
on the pid, but no data is produced. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
J

Hi.
What is the full version of your JDK?
If you haven't already done so you might want to look into tuning your HPUX
kernel as described in
http://edocs.bea.com/wls/platforms/hpux/index.html#hpux11
Does this occur randomly or regularly? Does this happen under high load? low
load? Is there any other way to characterize the circumstances for this hang?
Regards,
Michael

When will BEA support WLPS with either WLS 5.1 SP9 or WLS 6.x?

When will BEA support WLPS __3.2__ with either WLS 5.1 SP9 or WLS 6.x? The

Is there a planned availability date for WLS 5.1 SP9, specifically

After applying SP9, we are getting this exact message also. I see nothing
relevant in the "release" notes. It is interesting that you can start the
server up using the startWebLogic.cmd script. It is the wlserver.exe
    program that is choking.

  • WLS 5.1 sp9 and ACL exception! Urgent!

    Hi:
My applcation runs correctly on sp8.
Now even some of my jsp cannot run correctly with sp9. It also
compliants security exception. But strangely the first time WLS compiles
    the
jsp, it can run correctly, the data is shown in the browser. But once
    the
jsp is compiled, all subsequent call of this jsp will resort to

Funny, seems the reason is that WLS sp9 changes the steteful beans
security checking. Previously the checking seems to be when the home is
obtained, now the checking seems to be in the time only the method is
    called.

I got the same error when I installed SP7. I checked the log file cmd.exe.log under C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir and found that SDM server couldn't be started. So I opened SAPMMC (management console) and found that for some reason the central instance couldn't be started. So I manually started it from the console by right clicking the server. (This would start jcontrol.exe and start dispatcher, server and SDM.) After that, SDM could be connected and the installation continued. But I don't know why jcontrol.exe couldn't be started from the installation.
Check your cmd.exe.log and see whether you got the same error as I did.

  • Defeat denial of service attacks: New feature in WLS 5.1 SP9

              Hi all,
SP 9 for WLS 5.1 provides 2 new properties to prevent denial of service attacks
              (ISSUE 31269).
The properties are weblogic.httpd.maxPostSize and weblogic.httpd.maxPostTimeSecs.
However I miss more detailed information about the use of the properties, for
              example: Aer there default values
whcih are used when I don't set the properties? Is there a geberal recommendation
for values to which the properties could be set?
What is the unit for the properties (bytes or kbytes for maxPostSize)?
Has anybody used the new feature already?
              Thanks in advance
              Dieter

in WLS 6.0 I believe the default is -1, which means infinite post size and
secs. I don't think there's any recommended values for these. It all depends
on how large your post size may be.

  • Web as 640 sp9 hangs by step "deploy via SDM/J2EE"

    Hi,
I tried to install the sp9 for many times - very frustrating - can anyone help please ?
    Follwing products have been installed:
    1. webas 640, sp3
    2. webas 640, sp8
    3. ep6 sp3
    4. ep6 sp6
    5. But now it struggles - I have problems with applying the <b>patch 9 to webas</b> , the steps until to "deploy online" were sucessfull, but the step <b>"deploy via SDM/J2EE" has an error</b>. In the SAP MMC the process SDM was yellow, and stopped. The file callSdmViaSapinst.log shows:
<i>Nov 24, 2004 8:48:18 AM  Info: SDM operation mode successfully set to: Integrated
Nov 24, 2004 8:48:18 AM  Info: Initializing Network Manager (50017)
Nov 24, 2004 8:48:19 AM  Info: Checking if another SDM is running on port 50018
Nov 24, 2004 8:48:19 AM  Error: Could not start SDM - another Server may be running already.

So I stopped the SDM with <i>stopserver</i>, started it again with start <i>sdm jstartup "mode=standalone"</i>
and restarted sapinst - now it worked until the component com.sap.rprof.remoteProfile , now I have the message:
<i>ERROR: NOT updated. The Deploy Service returned the following error: For detailed information see the log file of the Deploy Service. Exception is:
com.sap.engine.services.rmi_p4.P4ConnectionException: Possible problem: no available running server node. Check your running servers.</i>
What now ? I stopped the server, restarted the sapinst from the beginning - the same result. Whats wrong ?
    Thanx a lot,
    Martin

I had this same SDM issue during an install. I simply stopped and started the instance. and then restarted the install.
However I would review the consiole logs and see why the server would not be running. If the server starts up and then dies it is probably something related to the java paramters. If you changed the paramters via configtool and you properly apply them, I would restart the instance and then kick of install again...
    This process worked for me.
    Hope this helps,
    John

Does anyone have an idea what can be done to fix this? This JSP compiles
              fine under Tomcat 3.2.
              Thanx!

  • PCK Update to SP9 hangs in SDM

hi there. i'm having trouble upgrading my PCK installation. the WEB AS update seemed to work just fine using SAPInst. Now that it comes to deploying the new AdapterFramework my SDM causes trouble.First time it hung during deployment of the AdapterFramework Core - several packages have been deployed but then it hung when deploying '*security.service'. after 20min i killed sdm and now i cannot get sdm to deploy this SAP-XIAFC-sca file at all since it always hangs/freezes in Step 2 of 4! Even when i restore my backup where no SDM-deployment at all has been done - still the same. any suggestions ? i'm stuck...

In past time, I had the same error. The problem was with memory parameters for SDM. Check memory parameters for SDM.

    Carlos

  • Wls 5.1 sp9 clustering (DNS Problem)

    Hi all,
I am trying to create a WLS cluster of 3 instances and the fourth one being
proxy. All four instances of WLS are on the same machine, and we use
default subnet mask so they are all in the same LAN.
The servers in the cluster have started properly and are communicating with
each other using a IPMulticast. No problem there.
However, when i request a JSP page giving the proxy servers
address(http://proxyIP:7001/Hello.jsp) , it is not able to forward it to any
of the clustered server instances. It is not even giving me a time out
error or page not found or anything. I am not sure if my DNS entries are
wrong or if there is any other problem or there is something that i missed.
Can some one verify this for me please.
DNS ENTRIES in HOSTS file are as follows :
              127.0.0.1 localhost
              192.200.1.251 server251.bozpivot.com
              192.200.1.252 server252.bozpivot.com
              192.200.1.253 server253.bozpivot.com
              mycluster 192.200.1.251
              mycluster 192.200.1.252
              mycluster 192.200.1.253
STACK Trace on proxy is as follows :
              Sun Jan 02 10:22:33 GMT+05:30 2000:<I> <ServletContext-General> *.jsp: init
              Sun Jan 02 10:22:33 GMT+05:30 2000:<E> <proxy> Please specify secure port in

    Thanks all,
I got it working, It was not a problem with my DNS entries. I forgot to
register my JSPServlet, and so all calls to JSP pages were getting into an
              non-ending loop.

  • Servlet redeploy with wls 5.1, sp9

    Hi,
the "reload servlet" command doesn't seem to work from the console in
wls 5.1: After pressing the corresponding button in the console, I get
              the message:
              <ServletContext-General> GatewayServlet: destroy
...but init(ServletConfig config) gets called only once: when the
servlet is first loaded. After the destroy() call, the servlet is still
able to process requests, but the init() method doesn't get called
              again...
              Any ideas?
