Wlst sh command line

hi there,
is it a known issue that the wlst.sh delivered with weblogic 10.3.0 (jdeveloper 11.1.1.0.2) is using a command like
java ... weblogic.WLST $*
to start the actual wlst/jython process, which makes it impossible to use wlst.sh with parameter names containing spaces, e.g. "wlst.sh script.py -o 'output file with spaces'"?
to me it would have seemed more appropriate to write "$@" (including the double quotes) instead of $*.
cheers,
Matt

In 10.3.2, the wlst.sh was changed to be
eval '"${JAVA_HOME}/bin/java"' ${JVM_ARGS} weblogic.WLST '"$@"'

  • WLST command line utility "storeUserConfig()"  is not working for 12c OHS

    Hi All,
    I am facing issue with WLST command line utility with "*storeUserConfig()*" command.
    I have installed Standalone OHS 12c (Not managed OHS with WLS), configure and start the Node Manager.
    I start the WLST command line utility from : <MW_HOME>/ohs/common/bin/wlst.sh
    I connect node manager with : nmConnect('weblogic', 'welcome1', nmType='plain', domainName='base_domain')
    wls:/offline> nmConnect('weblogic', 'welcome1', nmType='plain', domainName='base_domain')
    Connecting to Node Manager ...
    Successfully Connected to Node Manager.
    wls:/nm/base_domain> nmStart(serverName='ohs10', serverType='OHS')
    Starting server ohs10 ...
    Successfully started server ohs10 ...
    Now When I am running storeUserConfig(), it's giving me below error :
    wls:/nm/base_domain> storeUserConfig()
    Traceback (innermost last):
    File "<console>", line 1, in ?
    NameError: storeUserConfig
    I also try with storeUserConfig('/scratch/12cORC/security/myuserconfigfile.secure', '/scratch/12cORC/security/myuserkeyfile.secure') which also give same error.
    I am not able to recognize this error. What should I need to do to create the User config file ?
    Please suggest me the solution.
    I am referring this doc : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15586_01/web.1111/e13813/reference.htm#
    Thanks,
    Amit Nagar

    It's probably a little late for the original poster, but in case anybody else stumbles on this thread (like me today), I found a workable solution to this problem:
    For a Standalone HTTP Server there exists in $domain_home/bin a command startComponent.sh or (on Windows) startComponent.cmd. This accepts as parameter the ComponentName which will typically be ohs1 and as second parameter storeUserConfig. Documentation on this can be found here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1212/webtier/HSADM/getstart.htm#CHDJGIII (scroll down to
    4.3.2.3 Starting Oracle HTTP Server Instances from the Command Line).
    startComponent.sh ohs1 storeUserConfig
    Unfortunately this doesn't tell you where you'll find the config and key-File. However, on a second invocation I found that - at least on windows where I tested this - they get written into c:\users\<username>\.wlst so I'd expect them in the home directory on unix. After copying the files to a more common location, I was able to reference them the usual way (formatted for better readability):
    wls:/offline> nmConnect(userConfigFile='C:/app/Middleware/Oracle_Home/user_projects/domains/base_domain/nodemanager/security/nm-cfg-base_domain.props',
    userKeyFile='C:/app/Middleware/Oracle_Home/user_projects/domains/base_domain/nodemanager/security/nm-key-base_domain.props',
    host='localhost',
    port='5556',
    domainName='base_domain')
    Connecting to Node Manager ...
    Successfully Connected to Node Manager.

  • Oracle Http server 11g, change ports with command-line tool

    I have installed the WLS11g webtier's Oracle Http server 11g. I installed the OH 11g only.
    The OH is runing fine with ports: non-ssl 7779 and ssl 4444
    I want to change the ssl port to 443 such that we can have the url without showing the port as https://hostname.domain/
    I have looked up the documnet http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJIFHB for "managing port".
    it states "You can change the port numbers for some Oracle Fusion Middleware components, using Fusion Middleware Control, Oracle WebLogic Server Administration Console, or *the command line*."
    Because I only installed the OH, I have no the Fusion Middleware control , admin console available for making the port change. And I cannot find out how to the command line tool to make the change.
    I followed the steps in section 5.3.2.1 Enabling Oracle HTTP Server to Run as Root for Ports Set to Less Than 1024 (UNIX Only) http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJEEJH
    And I did edit ssl.conf for port change to 443 ---- this is not documented in the document. I think because Oracle wants you to use the console to make the change.
    OH is not working after I made the change.
    Does anyone know how to use the commend line tool for making the port changes for OH11g?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    if u want to achieve it using JMX then u can try :
    http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=613
    Using Command Line Option WLST you can do it in ONLINE Mode...like:
    Step1). Please run the ". ./setWLSEnv.sh" script to set the CLASSPATH & PATH in the shell prompt.
    <b><font color=red>NOTE:</font></b> Run the “setWLSEnv.sh” by adding two DOTs separated by a single space …..before the actual script like following : (use ‘cd’ command to move inside the <BEA_HOME>/wlserver_10.3/server/bin) then run the following command….
    *. ./setWLSEnv.sh*
    Note: the first DOT represents that set the Environment in the current Shell, AND the second ./ represents execute the script from the current directory.
    Step2). Now in the same Shell Prompt please run the WLST Utility like following:
    <b><font color=maroon>
    java weblogic.WLST
    wls:/offline> connect()
    Please enter your username [weblogic] : weblogic
    Please enter your password [weblogic] : weblogic
    Please enter your server URL [t3://localhost:7001] : t3://localhost:7001
    Connecting to t3://localhost:7001 with userid weblogic ...
    edit()
    startEdit()
    cd ('Servers/AdminServer')
    cmo.setListenPort(9999)
    save()
    activate()
    </font></b>
    Now you NEED NOT to restart your Server to reflact these Changes....
    The Above JMX Code is also able to do it in Runtime only on the Fly.
    Thanks

    Not all WLST installations are equivalent. Have a read of [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/adf/part10-085778.html]this, specifically the paragraph right after Figure 13 for something to try. Bottom line - the WLST that comes with the base WLS server install cannot do the MDS operations.

  • Web Application Status thru Command Line!

    Hi,
    How do i find the status of web application thru command line?
    I dont find a direct and easy way to get to know the status of a web application. In websphere it was straight forward. Any help from BEA team would be really appreciated
    Regards,
    C R baradwaj

    Hi Satya Ghattu,
    We have a requirement wherein we wanted to manage the start and stop of web application without using the weblogic server console.
    If I stop the web application from the console it shows the web application status as unavailable. I want to retrieve the status of the web application that is shown in the console from a command line utility or thru a java program.
    Any sample program or a command line utility will be very very helpful.
    Waiting for your earlier response. I understand from other source of information that WLST is the way to go. If I can get some source code for the same will be REALLY appreciated.
    Many Thanks in Advance,

  • Open and Close a command line exec via OpenG.lib in seperate VIs

    Hi,
    I'm aiming to perform tests on my UUT - over a command line based executable which established a USB connection, so - sendings commands and checking the return string.
    So far i'm reusing the pipeNight.vi which is shared in the following post.
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/How-to-pass-input-to-a-DOS-executable-that-is-running-in/m-p/1763182...
    However i wish expand from LabVIEW and utilise NI-TestStand sequence files to ramp up the test coverage and perform the tests automatically.
    The issue i've encountered - every time i call the pipeNight.vi from a TestStand sequence Step, the USB connection is build up and torn down.
    Although i'm not encountering any performance issues to date, i would ultimately like to open a session (i.e.establish the usb connection) - at the beginning of a sequence file, send a bunch or commands and check return strings, before closing the session at the end of the sequence file. This is surely a more effecient and elegant solution.
    Is it somehow possible to split the pipeNight.vi into several VIs to realise this objective?
    - Open
    - Write/Read
    - Close
    i'd appreciate and help or alternatice solutions on this!
    B.Regards
    Kech
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I had tried to explain in my initial post, that if i call the pipeNight.vi from a TestStand sequence file step, then establishes a USB connection and tears it done - for every command that i send/ respectively every sequence step that i run in TestStand. As i envisage multiple (several hundred) test steps, i woul like to improve effeciency by establishing the ESB connection once instead of multiple times.

  • Error while running a Discoverer Workbook with parameter from command line

    I am trying to run a discoverer report from command line and export the results in xls on to my local machine. I could do it fine for a simple workbook, but if I add a parameter(madatory) to the workbook and run it from command line specifying the parameter value I wanted to run the report for, I do not get any results. Here is the command line I am using.
    dis51usr.exe /connect user/password@database /apps_user /apps_responsibility "System Administrator" /eul EUL_US /open C:\Disco\Test.DIS /sheet Testsheet /parameter Period Jan-07 /export xls C:\Disco\X.xls /batch
    Parameter value is entered in correct format(Jan-07).
    When I removed /batch from this to see if I get any error, Discoverer Desktop opened up, logged in and gets terminated saying 'Oracle Discoverer Desktop has encountered a problem and need to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
    Did anybody come across this issue before?

    Hello,
    If you have a few minutes, Windows is also aborting for me:
    the differences are, my situation is:
    a) am running the command line from a .bat file
    b) am NOT running with parms, want the discoverer query to come up for the user
    c) am running a query from the database
    i am signing in as myself BUT running a query that was created by a generic user called SREG
    c) if i run the .bat file from Windows Explorer, the query opens fine
    d) if i execute the .bat file from within Microsoft Access using the shell command,
    the query opens and then aborts RIGHT BEFORE the parm screen would display
    e) btw, if i modify the .bat file, to run a query from MY database signon, then (d) - running .bat file
    from vb using SHELL command works
    Do you have a ideas as to why (d) does not work? I would be very grateful for your time, tx, sandra
    this is what i posted yesterday, tx: Re: Running Discoverer command line

  • Could not view data in the Em while in the command line query works

    Hi, all,
    I have met with this problem for several times.
    I have an Oracle 10.0.2.0 running on Redhat linux E3.
    After I insert or just input some data in a table. I could see the new data in the command line.
    SQL> select * from tablename;
    But I could not see the new data in the EM. If I export the table to, say, MS Access, the new data doesn't show. The data is there, but I have to wait for some time. (several mins to hours)
    Do you have any idea of it??
    Thank you very much!
    Qian

    Thank you for your reply.
    Why sometimes it doesn't show in other sessions, but sometimes it shows?
    Any way, I will perform commit to see....

  • GUI Applications unable to use command line tools

    Hi All-
    I've searched, but I can't find a thread about this one, so...
    On OS 10.4.5:
    Whenever I use a GUI app that wants to use a command line tool (e.g. curl, df, java), the app fails giving an error message to the effect of "unable to find curl" or the like. It is as if the GUI cannot find my unix $PATH.
    Examples:
    -- Eclipse refuses to launch, because it appears to use "java xxxxxxx" to launch.
    -- Automator fails to run certain Safari actions because they use curl to navigate web pages.
    -- Carbon Copy Cloner fails to launch, because it can't find a tool (df, IIRC) to read drive/volume info
    Possibly relevant details:
    -- I can use the tool in question from the command line, so they are present, and in my $PATH, but the GUI can't find them.
    -- I recently moved from an old G4 to a relatively new G5, and had issues migrating files, so I eventually just copied my entire home directory from the old machine to the new, replacing the freshly created one on the new machine. I feel like that missed something that tells the GUI where your $PATH is, or some other link between GUI and command line.
    -- I created a new user, and that user does not experience the same troubles. This adds to my suspicion that it is account/PATH related.
    Any help anyone can give it greatly appreciated.

    PM G5 dual 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Did you by any chance create an evironment.plist file? It is located in ~/.MacOSX/ If you don't know about it or don't know to look (.MacOSX is normally invisible), try this:
    In Finder.app, in the "Go" menu select "Go to Folder..." (shift-command-G), type ~/MacOSX in the text field and hit OK, the finder should then open a window or complain.
    If it opens a window and you find in it a file named environment.plist move that file to the desktop and try your applications. Do they work as advertized? Try again after logging in/out if things don't work. Do they work now?

  • Error Received When Trying To Create DSN From The Command Line

    All,
    Your help is greatly appreciated in advance. I am having trouble packaging Oracle 10G for a batch file deployment. Everything is done except for getting the DSN created which is causing me major problems. We am working with the Oracle 10G R2 10.2.0.1.0 Client on Windows XP Professional SP2. The Oracle database resides on a Windows 2000 Professional Server SP4 running Oracle 9i.
    Our Environment: I am creating two packages of the Oracle 10G client. The first is for a batch file distribution via LANDesk and the other package is for normal batch file install if someone from IT is installing this from a user's desk. Both scripts are really identical the only differences are how they are laid out. I only need help with the DSN creation as everything else is ready to go. I am going to focus on the Non-LANDesk batch file as once I fix this in one script the other one should also be fixed.
    The Problem: The batch script copies the neccesary files to the temporary directory. I then extract the setup files to the temp folder. I run a custom Oracle install using the RSP file from a recorded install. After the install is complete I copy the TNS Names file to the proper location. I then try to call a CMD file with the ODBC command seen below the main script.
    Script (May be easier to read if you download using link below):

    ODBC Script
    odbcconf.exe /a {CONFIGSYSDSN "Oracle in OraClient10g_home1" "DSN=CCR|Description=CCR_data|SERVER=BWB|Database=CCR"}
    As soon as the command is called I see the following error message appear.
    "CONFIGSYSDSN: Unable to create a data source for the 'Oracle in OraClient10g_home1' driver: Could not load the setup or translator library with error code -2147467259"
    The really strange thing though is that if I let the main part of the script run (Not the ODBC call) and then immediately manually start the ODBC call script it works just fine. So, I don't really understand why the script can't add it itself. Or, I can go the Administrator Tools>Data Sources (ODBC)>and then add it manually which also works. I have tried just pasting the command directly in the main script, therefore, bypassing the call feature but it doesn't make a difference.

    Has anyone ever seen this kind of issue before? Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this? Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.
    Thanks so much for your help in advance,
    Clif Bridegum

    All,
    I thought it may be related to spaces in the path in which the script was called from. I tried having the ODBC command script in another directory but the same thing happens. It will give me the "CONFIGSYSDSN: Unable to create a data source for the 'Oracle in OraClient10g_home1' driver: Could not load the setup or translator library with error code -2147467259". As soon as the script is done running I can manually double click the script and it adds the DSN fine.
    Thanks,

  • Single Sign On and Command line

    Hi!
    We have application without any logon form which executed from command line by BAT file:
    app.exe Username Password par1 par2 ...
    where par1, par2... is parameters of application
    So question is: can Oracle Single Sign On set user credentials to the command line? Can we use OSSO for application without logon form?
    Thank you.

    SSO is for web apps, you could try to use OID to perform the autentification of your application but you should change your application so it looks for the users in LDAP.
    Greetings.

  • Can't run JavaFX app as a jar file from command line

    I'm trying to build a JavaFX app from scratch (that is, by including the jar file from the JavaFX SDK rather than by using the special JavaFX project type from NetBeans). It runs fine in NetBeans. However, when I try to launch it as a jar file from the command line (using "java -jar dist\TestApp") I get the following. Has anybody seen this before, and if so how can I fix it?:

    Unsatisfied link means that Java is trying to access a native library, but it cannot be found. As to why this error is being thrown, here is my guess:
    If you open up one of the sample jars with a zip viewer, you will see that the Manifest file has the following entries:
    >
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    JavaFX-Version: 2.0
    implementation-vendor: Oracle
    implementation-title: BrickBreaker
    implementation-version: 1.0
    JavaFX-Application-Class: brickbreaker.Main
    Created-By: JavaFX Packager
    Main-Class: com/javafx/main/Main
    >
    In other words, a JavaFX project works a bit differently than a normal Java project. com/javafx/main/Main is used as the Main class and your "Main" class is called later.
    If you are trying to build this from a normal Java project, then com/javafx/main/Main will not be created and it will call your Main class right away. Thus, whatever setup is needed to run JavaFX will not occur.
