Word document w/images in RGB pasted into InD CS5

Hi!
Working in InDesign CS5 some problem occured: I have received from 3rd party  doc in Word w/embedded images(a lot ((( and text, the images are RGB defined.
Now as printing preprocess(finally to PDF) I need to format/create whole document in Indesign CS5 but I got to have the images in CMYK instead of RGB while still
having text black, w/out CMYK profile - could anybody advice 'politically correct' approach to such problem ? ))
Thanx in advance!
cheers,
bcd

Images in InDesign are to be placed as RGB.
But I see other problems with your document. You should never embed images in InDesign, it is better to place and link them.
The other problem is, that Word provides you with a worse image as it could be, often, in most cases (it depends if the creator has imported the images via copy & past, which is not recommended or with the correct insert image command) Word saves the original used image inside the document. You can save your Word document as HTML file (there are several commands, use the most extended version) it will save the original image as separate file. In Bridge you can see resolution and size easily. Use the better image of each and place it in InDesign. If these images have no color profile, apply sRGB to them.
Conversion to a output color space, in your case CMYK, should not be done before PDF export, better later.

  • Import a word document composed in Arabic font (.ttf) into a .fla

    Hello Everyone;
I am developing an advance e-book in Flash. My client has composed about 500 books in arabic using Microsoft Word. My client wants search features in this book in which the user will type something in arabic & it will search the ebook text and give him results, so I cannot convert the text into vector or image I have to keep it as text. I want Import a word document composed in Arabic font (.ttf) into a .fla file without losing its formatting. Rightnow I am able to import the font using copy/paste from the word document into Flash, but it changes the font, but I fixed it by changing the text property from "classic text" to "TLF text" which fixed the font. Even though the copy/paste method works without formatting its not practical for my project because there are thousands of pages and copy/pasting them one by one frame by frame is time consuming & not practical.
I need a method or a third party software through which I can convert the word documents into fla or swf keep the font as text & very important without messing up the font and formatting.

3rd Party software that can be tested for free:
    print2flash
    wordflashpoint

  • Word document print preview shows entire pasted image, but prints only part of image

I just bought a new HP 8620.  When doing a copy and paste into Word, everything is shown in the print preview.  However, part of the image, usually the bottom, is not printed.

    Hi nedamirakl,
    Thank you for your response!
If you copy a photo, does it print the whole picture? Copy Text or Mixed Documents.
After some further searching, I would recommend to try the shrink to fit option in Word, Shrink to Fit in Word 2010 and Word 2013.
If that does not work, please try the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Re-install the software using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this helps, and have a nice day!

  • Importing Word Documents with Images

Hi, When I import word document in to Robohelp, it imports
the images also. Now, I have duplicate images in multiple topics.
How do I avoid duplicate images being imported? Is there anyway,
where I can collate and store all the images in a single folder,
instead of saving it in multiple folders?

You're right. One reason this plan never came to fruition is
because this doesn't take a lot of time.
When I first came aboard, I envisioned a lot of importing of
Word documents where each change was done to a Word doc (complete
with macros and useful AutoText) and then imported into RoboHelp.
Then, a global search would take care of the image problem. But
that isn't really our MO, so this never happened.
Although, it's a great way to create a new project. Author
your Word documents with meaningful characters to represent each
icon. Then when you import everything, just include the graphic
once and then do a global search.

  • Importing Microsoft Word document with images to InDesign CS5

    Hey,
I'm trying to import a MS Word document that contains inline images to InDesign CS5.
I tried File->Place with checking "Import Inline Graphics" but unfortunately it imports the document without the images, there are blank regions where the images are suppose to be.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Kathy

Yes, aligning image on its own paragraph works, I will skip wraping text inside paragraph, this can be done inside InDesign. Here is one part of Internet PDF books I am talking about, both are in Serbian http://issuu.com/bojan_zivkovic/docs/prikazivanje_slika_u_adobe_photoshop_elements - word + indesign, http://www.scribd.com/doc/49583823/Nau%C4%8Dite-Adobe-Photoshop   - indesign only
Basicaly I am writing tutorials then turn them into PDF books, for now.
Thank you, I never try to insert image on its own paragraph.

  • Dynamic Converter - convert Word Document with Image

    I have the following issue:
My word document contains an embedded image. the text flows around the picture on the right side.
After the conversion is the text in a separate paragraph below the picture ...
Is it possible to configure the dynamic converter so that the text flows around the picture like in the word document?
    Thanks for your help!

Now i have tried several times to format the output with different styles. I have changed the text color, text size and to align the picture.
    But the output didn't change.
There are no errors or warnings in the logfile.
An ibr is also running. It converts doc into pdf.
    For the dynamic converter:
    I have made a rule.
Then i have added a criteria for the field "format" with the value "application/msword".
Then i have selected a gui tepmlate and asigned the standard layout.
    No effect.
Any suggestions why the dynamic conversion didn't work?
    Thank you for your help!

  • I have a 6x9 Word document that I can't convert into a 6x9 PDF (even with the correct settings in place!)

I'm trying to prepare a Word document for CreateSpace.  In the Word document the page size is set at Custom, 6"x9".
When I go to print it as a PDF, I select "Custom" and set the parameters at 6"x9".
Then the resulting PDF is still on 8.5"x11", with only half the page (the right half) with text on it.

    Hi Peter,
Here's how I get custom pages in my PDFs:
In the print dialog, select the Adobe PDF Printer.
Click the "printer properties" link near the printer name.
In the Adobe PDF Document Properties dialog, click the "Adobe PDF Settings" tab.
The fourth setting on the list is "Adobe PDF Page Size".
Click the "Add..." button on the right.
In the Add Custom Paper Size dialog, type a Paper Name (such as "My 6 x 9" or "custom 6 x 9").
Enter the size in the Width and Height fields.
    Click Add/Modify.
Now, in the "Adobe PDF Page Size", select your custom page size from the list. The list is in alphabetical order.
    Click the "Print" button.
Your PDF should be in the custom size.
You can check this in the PDF properties (File > Properties).
    Regards,
    Charlene

  • Pasting into Photoshop CS5 + Auto Resize

We copy a lot of existing elements from illustrator files into existing Photoshop documents. The dimensions of the Illustrator files are much larger, so we've always pasted into Photoshop and it resizes to the smaller photoshop document.
When I paste into the existing Photoshop document in CS5, I need the image/object to resize to my Photoshop document, instead of pasting in at the actual/original size.
Is there something I can change in preferences? Or a way to do this?

Yes many Photoshop users that know they know how Photoshop Place and Paste work. Even when they do know. Their actual understanding may not comprend the whole story yet. For they have may not had to seen all the variations of Place and Paste and haven't given the subject deep thought.
A lot has to do with size.   Many users think about size differently for there are several sizes when it comes down to it..   When Photoshop documentation states size its best to think "Print Size" You know this has to do document resolution and the number of pixels in the document. It what make the physical print size    When images are Pasted and Placed into some other document Photoshop maintains the new layers  "physical print size"  If the two document do not have the same resolution the image going into the document will be scaled to the receiving document resolution it does not mater how your Photoshop preferences setting are set.  There will be scaling size change made.   The result may or may not fit within the receiving documents canvas.  In the case of place if what is being place in does not fit. What does not fit may be scaled to fit within the receiving document canvas size.  Place images are smart object layers and the object pixels are the original ones for the object.  All smart object layers have a single transform associated with them. This transform may or may not scale the original image.   Image that have the same resolution may just be scale to 100% and have not change in number of pixels.  When the object being place is larger the canvas size depending on the Photoshop's Preference Place object resize option the object may be resized to fit within canvas its print size will be different then the original object.  Its only when you have been puzzled by some Photoshop's Places and Paste operation that you deepen your though process and inveterate the subject thoroughly that you see the whole story
Target a placed in image smart object layer  and use the free transform shortcut key to see the current associated transform. Look in the option bar at its scale setting it may surprise you.
I will admit my knowledge was very faulty till I started scripting place and had to deal with how Photoshop did the operation. I had a lot of problems till I realized what was happening. I then realizes that I could scale the placed object to 100% get it back to its original pixels then transform these pixels to where I needed them to be and scaled to the size I needed.
As wrote I don't have AI. Since AI is an Adobe product  when you use copy in AI and paste in PS  I can beleive that Photoshop may well know that the clipboards contents were copied there from AI and Photoshop may give you options like to use paste or place.   I would think any resizing done to the clipboards pixels is done by Photoshop not AI.

  • Pasting text into InD CS5 crashes after upgrading to Mountain Lion

I upgraded my iMac to Mountain Lion over the weekend and since have problems with InDesign CS5 crashing when I paste text from one InD document to another.

In-place upgrades are always a crapshoot. Try trashing the prefs (see Replace Your Preferences), but most likely you'll have to reinstall ID at the very least. YOu may have to do a clean install on the OS as well.

  • Color Handling when saving Word document as PDF, containing CMYK TIFF image?

What is the proper procedure for creating PDFs from Word documents that contain a CMYK TIFF image? I have created a company logo by exporting an AI file with Pantone colors as a TIFF (with a CMYK color profile, since there is the intention of printing). Since it is a logo, color consistency is important and the utmost priority. I will be needing to insert this file into a Word document that will then be converted into a PDF.
I've read somewhere that Word automatically converts images to RGB, and also have come across potential problems of colors being changed in the final PDF through unmanaged color handling and conversions. I figured instead of running around in circles trying to find the best solution, I'd post on here. Is this procedure possible? What is the best way to do this without changing my original color profile or CMYK values of the logo being used?
This PDF has the intention of being placed online for offices to print/publish.
    Thanks!

Though actually, let's take a step back -- why do you want to use CMYK? Most offices won't be using PostScript printers, so the CMYK will be converted to RGB for printing. For publishing - do you know the required CMYK profile to use for all possible publishing scenarios? Properly tagged RGB is generally considered the way to deal with this in modern workflows not targeted at a specific press. But still probably not with Word!

  • Importing word documents - but losing all images which was in it

    Hi,
I am fairly new to Robohelp and recently got hold of Robohelp 8.
I have already written a Help File for my company's recent product, and the help file was in word 2007 with a lot of screenshots of icons, buttons and dialog boxes pasted in it.
On importing the word document to Robohelp, none of these images are being imported and I cannot see any of them in the project view.
I wanted to use the link to word document feature so that i do not have to keep re-importing the document for any changes made - however, because the images are not being imported, i now have to add them manually to the project.
1 - this is tiring and very time consuming
2 - the project files to which i add the pictures are no longer updated from the word document if any of the text changes as the project is preserving the changes i made to the file (which was only adding the image manually). Kind of defeat the purpose of link to the word document.
    HELP
I would really appreciate any help in
1 - How to import a word document containing images (screenshots, icons etc) without losing the images
2 - Keep the word document to update the project even after i add any images to the project manually.
    Thanks
    Nivekz

    Hi again
    Thanks for the clarification.
Okay, so really what you are doing is identical to clicking File > Import > Word Document, because all you are doing by choosing PDF is pre-selecting PDF as the listed file types. Once you change it to point to Word documents it's no different.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Large Word document imported into Pages with "Section Break Problems"

    Hi there,
I am importing a large Word document with many photos (>250 pages) into Pages. Now, the problem is that when using the "page thumbnail" window to the left it marks all my windows with a yellow border.
This means that I can't duplicate single pages - it will duplicate the whole stuff. Same thing for delete.
I can go to the last character of each page and insert a "section break". This creates single pages. But it seems a bit odd to me, and with >250 pages, this is quite some work too.
Any idea what I can do to solve quickly the issue?
    Thanks for any hints!

Sections are what they say they are natural breaks in the document.
Each section usually having headers footers and other basic content in common.
Effectively just like chapters in a book or specifically designed pages in a magazine or report.
If your text naturally flows from one page to the next then they should stick together.
If on the other hand you are treating them all like single leaves of paper to be shuffled around, then you need a section break at the end of each page.
3 ways you can quickly do this:
    1. There is a unique start to each page such as a return followed by a particular word. You can search on this combination replacing it with a section break followed by the word.
    2. You can make a short cut to do this from the keyboard
    3. You can copy a section break and paste it at the end of each preceding page.
    4. You can transfer by copying and pasting the content into a Layout mode document where every page is its own section.
As with most work, planning, organisation and thinking before you leap, pays off in the long run.
    Peter
