Work in process / Service orders

Hi everybody,
Reading the concepts of the use of WIP, is mentioned that it can be applied also in services:
I have been working with PM/CS, and the cycle ends with the billing of the sales document that is generated from the service order, but i have problems applying the settelment rule, because i only use one G/L account and Financial area teold me that i must be work with 2 G/L accounts, one for the service in process and the other when the service finishes.
By the other hand, also they mentioned that i have to determine the sales cost from the settlement of the general order.
Can somebody help me?

Hi, Anali
WIP menas as you know Work in Progress, used to post the cost before the Cost Obect is closed.  There is a tool in SAP to analyze, configure, calculate and post  these costs to FI if desired....
The implementation is complicated, so I?d suggest to ask an expert or attend the standard training course Cost Object Controlling.
Kind regards

  • Several service cofirmations can be possible from one service order Item

    Dear Experts,
We create a service order with one service item and create a service confirmation via follow-up function.
After saving the service confirmation, the status of the service order Item is changed from "Released" into "Confirmed".
Even though the status of the service item is "Confirmed", we can create a new service confirmation
for the same item again and again until we set the status "Completed" in the service order header.
Is the system working as designed?
Could anyone advise how we can prevent the users from creating a new service confirmation
from the service item which has been already confirmed(the service order header status is still "Released")?
Any information would be highly appreciated.
    F.T.

    Hi Fumi
In standard process  , multiple confirmations are possible for a single service order. there are number of reasons for this
    1. Mutiple engg are working on single service order. and each engg post separate time and expenses in the confirmation
    2. in case of service order which cannot be completed  in a single day. and engg want to book the time daily
you can still restrict the user to create multiple confirmations  using code.

    Hi,
There is no diffrerence between service order and service order notification.
Its better if we can say - IW51 is for Service Order Notification
Generally when request is initiated by the customer or distributor to the retailer then the retailer will create a service order with the detail further process.
Regarding IW31 no proper idea. I have worked in SO notification only.

  • Service Order settlement to GL

    Hi,
I want to settle the service order created for customer under warranty to a - Warranty Claim GL.
I have maintained the settlement rule in the service order for Gl and have given the - Warranty Claim Gl also.
Settlement in KO88 is also happening with full amount being settled to the GL (Material + labour).
My query is since the material consumption is already shown as an expense do we need to settle the material part also to the GL.
What is correct method to process service order under warranty?
Also where i can default the settlement Rule for the service order?

    Hi,
What you said is correct because the Gl - Warranty Claim is only getting debit and credit for settlement.
How actually is the process for customer warranty done through service order.
The client wants to post cost incurred to service the machine to the GL - Warranty claim.
Since they cannot bill the customer.
what is the correct method of doing the service order under warranty.

  • Service Order and Sales Order Integration

    Hi All,
Through the requirement class settings in customizing, I have managed to generate a service order in the background upon creation of sales order.
To achieve this I have maintained the following settings:
    Order type = OR
    Sales document item category TAD
    - Item Cat TAD is linked to Requirements Type SERA (SD IMG->Determination Of Requirement Types Using Transaction)
-- Requirements Type SERA is linked to Requirements Class 203 (SD IMG->Define Requirements Types)
--- Requirements Class 203 is lined to order type SM01 (SD IMG->Define Requirements Classes)
I have also maintained my service material 'ZPBK001' in OISD screen. So, system allows me to create a sales order for this service material and service order is generated in the background.
However, my requirement is to not to generate service order in the background but just create a sales order. Then manually create a service order and also manually enter the sales order as an SDI settlement object in the service order.
So to achieve this, if I remove the service material from OISD screen, then system doesn't generates service order in the background but gives an Information (not an error or warning) message saying:
No entry for plant 1200, service object 01 ZPBK001 in table T399A
Its only an information message and when I tick it as ok then system gives another information mesage saying:
    Error when processing Service order
So the result is service order is not generated in the background which is fine as per my requirement because I can manually create a service order and then manually enter the sales order in the service order.
However, during the creation of sales order, is there a way that I dont get these information messages regarding service order not being generated in the background?

    Hi Pete,
Thank you for your reply. As per your suggestion I have removed the "Transfer of requirements" check from SD IMG->Define Requirements Classes. However, when I create a sales order, system still gives me the pop-up Information message saying:
No entry for plant 1200, service object 01 ZPBK001 in table T399A which is because I have not maintained service material in OISD screen.
Also, I get the information message as:
    Error when processing Service order
The first information message regarding service material is ok. However, is there a setting that I can maintain that I dont get the second message regarding error when processing service order?
I also checked item category details in VOV7, there is no settings for transfer of requirements in vov7

  • Service order costs

    Hello PS Experts,
I am new to PS and I am working on Open service order costs.
My requirement is  I have to pull all the costs on Project/WBS element summarized by Cost element. These costs should include the costs posted on order (which roll up to Project/WBS element because order is assigned to project/WBS element in Order master) and also costs posted on Project/WBS. Is there any table I can look for?
I looked at COSP but it has only primary costs and COSS which has only secondary costs.
I also looked at COEP but it has the line item costs posted on CO Object level, which means if you have costs posted to order, then COEP will have posted costs on order but not on projects.
    Any input is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Harish R

    Varshal,
    Thanks for the reply.
Can you tell me the difference between the tables COEP and RPSCO when it comes to costs on WBS elements?
I am looking for a table where I can get the WBS element, cost element and the actual costs associated with these two.
Also where I can see the list of all the open WBS elements for a particular Plant?
Appreciate your help in this regard.
    Thanks,

  • Req Assignment Tab page not coming for Service order

    Hi All,
I am working on simple service order SM01 type scenario. where in i am entering the operation & time for the same.
Now when i am going in to operation detail screen . I am not able to find out the requirement assignment tab page.
Strangely when i am using same reference object & creating the Maintenance order PM01 & doing the same as above it is showing the req assignment tab page.
    Regards,
    Amar

Hi , I have found out the solution for the same.
I have found that the external scheduling flag is
set for order type SM01 in customizing. Since this is set, requirement
assignment tab will not be populated as this will be taken care
    externally.
Remove the flag in below customising path.
Plant Maintenance and Customer Service--Maintenance and Service ProcessingMaintenance and Service Orders-Scheduling--External Scheduling--Define for Each Order Type
Once this flag is removed for order type SM01, this tab will appear
    for service orders.

  • Credit Memo Request w.r.t Service Orders

    Hi All
We want to create Credit Memo request (CMR ) as follow up w.r.t CRM Service Orders, as of now below process is available
Service order --> Confirmation --> Invoice --> CMR --> Credit Note.
can anyone helpe me in configuring the below process
Service order -->  CMR --> Credit Note.
    Best Regards
    Nagaraj G

    Hello Nagaraj
The service order posts the planned cost in the system. and your requirement is to reduce the planned costs from the system by creating credit memo request in the system.
As per the OSS message also this credit memo request will reduce the actual Cost/revenue not the planned cost/revenue.
What i believe is  if you want to reduce the plan cost/ revenue. You just reduce the value in the service order itself rather than creating the credit memo request.
Please let me know if i understood your scenario correctly below.
you created a service order and planned cost/revenue  is posted into the system and later you realized that this service are not actually performed and there is no service confirmation is posted in the system. but you want to remove planned cost also from the internal order.
So in this above case i would suggest you either change the value in the service order itself. or cancel your service order.

  • WIP work in process in PM/CS orders

    Dear,
WIP means work in process material..
WIP Calculation --- difference between the debits and credits of an order as at the period end when you calculate WIP.. in other words, it is the value of undelivered stock from an order. It is always calcualted in term of currency not in term of quantity.
When you need to display the value you can use transaction KKAY orKKAQ.
When you WIP calculation system will calculate the production cost incurred till that time w.r.t. different cost element(direct cost indiredt cost/material and activity) and updated to different accounts.
    Hope clear to you.

  • Function module to release a work permit attached to a service order.

    Hi,
We have a requirement of automating the process of work permit release attached to service order.
I am looking for a function module / BAPI for releasing the work permit attached to a service order by passing service order number and permit ID/Name.
If any of you have come accrose such one please share.
    Thanks
    Achuthanandan

    Hello Philip
The following function modules should be useful:
       - CY_PRIMARY_SELECTION            - Function module for selection of orders for the work center
       - CY_SECONDARY_SELECTION          - Check for additional criteria
       - CR_CAPACITY_AVAILABLE_PERIODS   - Reads the available capacity from work center
       - HR_PERSON_READ_TIME_INFO        - Reads the available capacity from person (modification)
       - CY_GET_PART_CAPACITY            - used only for the first period to read backlog
       - CY_LOAD_DISTRIBUTION            - Distribution key
Please observe that these are simple function modules, not BAPIs, That means, they were developed to be used on the SAP internal programs and they are not supported by SAP when used in custom programs.

  • Partiral delivery of sales items in a service order brings the order header to in process

    Hello Experts,
I am currently working on CRM 7.0, EHP 1.
I am creating a service order in CRM and the sales items in the order are replicated to a sales order in ECC. The header system and user status at this point is Released.
On creating a partial delivery for the sales items, the header of the service order is set to system status In Process. This doesnt allow creation of a confirmation because the header is no more released.
Is there a note to stop the system status change to in process ?
    Thanks &Regards,
    Itisha

    Hi Rohit,
It is ideally required to have both higher item and subitem in delivery. However the moment there is a sub item, the delivery quantity for higher level item becomes 0 and hence this will not affect the quantity to be delivered. Hence the presence of higher level item will not impact the delivery or PGI in anyway. You can check this.
Similarly for billing, you can check the Billing quantity field in copy control between delivery and invoice. The value has to be either G or H based on the scenario you want.
Having said all these things, I think just adding the customer entered material either in the customer material field in sales order (I think VBAP-MATWA) or in some other Z field will relieve you of this big complexity. So unless or otherwise your customer i adamant on this, you can think of a simpler solution than the multiple levels of items.

  • How to calculate work in process for maintenance order

how to calculate work in process for maintenance order i.e raw materials not used

    Hi,
Generally, when u create PR from maintenance order, account assignment category should be F. Cost of services first settles on the order when u create service entry sheet. Further it got settled onto settlement receiver given in order.
If you want to change the category from F to K for maintenance orders then follow the IMG menu path as given below.
Plant Maintenance and Customer Service > Maintenance and Service Processing > Maintenance and Service Orders  >
General Data > Define Account Assignment Cat. and Document Type for Purchase Requisitions

  • Problems while processing maintenance service orders - external(PM)

    Hi...........
i am Praveen, fresher to SAP R/3 - PM. I am facing some problems while processing maintenance orders - external service.( IDES )
I used control key PM 03 for external servicing. as per my knowledge it should create Purchase requisition for the external processing . but instead of that it gives following message.
" Relevancy to MRP is set at 3, since order is released or activated"
If i press help it tells that
" relevancy to material planning is currently set to 3, set it to 3"
So i searched lot for the setting but i could not find that setting anywhere.
If i press enter insted of help in the first problem it gives following message
" purchase requisition cannot be generated"
If i press help button it gives message that
" Due to setting, system is trying to generate purchase requisition but you haven't maintained service package for the activity/element. maintain service package for activity/element."
so i serached this setting too but i could not find this one too.
In tab - Activity type, it gives message that
" no activity types assigned to cost centre 4220 controlling area 1000 on Dt-month-year(current date)"
SO I checked with the settings of activity type in controlling , where i assigned activity type 1410 to all cost categories by selecting cost centre category ' * '. but still i am facing same problems.
So i am requesting all of my seniors that please help me out to overcome these problems.
these problems are badly effecting my daily practise on SAP R/3.
So once again i am requesting all of my seniors please help me out.
    Thanks and best regards,

    Hi praveen,
After entering PM03 control key  you need to enter the services package by clicking on the "external " button at the bottom of the screen .
    Here you enter the services.
You can see RES./PURC.REQ  value  indicator in ACT.DATA view .This value is defaulted to 3.
when you try to change it 2 you will get the same error. however you can change it to 1. (this implies the components in this order will not be available for materila planning).
you can change it to 1 and continue with creating a work order. if you want to change it to 2 you need to do a configuration setting.
