Work manger: what happens to slowed down executions

Hi,
does anybody know of a deeper documentation of Weblogic's work manager?
I'm especially interested in how WL handles those requests for executions, that have to slow down in order to meet the scheduling guideline (let's say a fair-share strategy).
Does WL just defer some of the client requests? If so, when does the transaction start?
What happens, if the queue for waiting client requests is growing for a long time (does WL reject requests at some time - when)?.
The edocs (Understanding Work Managers, http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs100/config_wls/self_tuned.html#wp1063790) do not cover those questions.

Does WL just defer some of the client requests? If so, when does the transaction start?WebLogic will put request in execute queue and wait until execute thread available to start the request processing.
What happens, if the queue for waiting client requests is growing for a long time (does WL reject requests at some time - when)?.
Execute queue will start rejecting request only after it reaches threshold. Threshold can be configured using "Shared Capacity For Work Managers" parameter. Default value is 65536.

File dialog box slow down execution

Dear all,
I am using Labview 8.2.1 with Windows XP.
I have a program who's allow the user to select any file or folder thanks to File dialog box.
For a reason that i don't understand when this dialog box is displayed, other parrallel while loop time execution goes slow down.
Put on my LabView front panel File Path command without any code and press "Browse" file button as shown on joined picture_1 birng slow down execution of the while loop.
Does any body could explain why this problem appear ?
By switch off on LabView Tool parameter "Use native file dialogs" (picture_2). the problem disapear. Unfortunately this kind of old dialog box is not practical...
If any body have an idea it could help me.

Why does slowing down execution prevent OOM errors?

I've run into two different situations where OOM errors went away when I slowed down the code. Right now I have a single threaded application that reformats batches of images. If I change

to
Thread.sleep(300);
then the application throws OutOfMemoryErrors.
Does anyone have experience with this or ideas about how to solve it? I'm using the 1.4.2_03 VM with the default GC options.

To avoid OOM errors. The original code had no sleeps
and threw OOM errors. I added debug messages to
diagnose the problem and the OOM errors went away. I
replaced the debug messages with a single sleep to see
if it was a speed issue.I wouldn't expect to see this behavior in a single-threaded app. That's why I'm wondering if there isn't more going on.
It would also help to know what is happening afterevery nap.
After each nap, the thread reads data from a database,
reads a JPEG image from a file, translates the image
to TIFF format and writes the image and other data to
a file.When you call it 'the thread' it impies to me that it is separate from your application thread. Is it? Is there a GUI? What DB are you you using? What driver? Are you closing your DB connections? Are you closing your IO streams?

G5 Power Supply Popped - Still works but fan speeds up/slows down nonstop!

After applying a security update for Tiger 4.11 on my G5 1.6 a few hours later my machine made a bang/pop sound. It still powers up but once running it sounds like the machine is ramping up to speed and slowing down again. It does this continuously even when machine is running. Apple hardware test reports no problems but i'm concerned. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem (fans speeding up then slowing down). I have iStat installed so I was able to look at the rpm's of the fan (free widget btw). My CPU fans ranged from 2500 to 3200, oscilated all day long....up, down, up, down ...every few seconds. I noticed my CPU utilization was up, which was odd since my machine was somewhat idel. Looked at Activity monitor and saw my CPU's sometimes reached 90%. The application that was using the CPU's was the printmgr. Stopped the process and everything is ok. I know it is unrelated to the popping sound but you might ck the activity monitor to see what is going on.

Apple TV & Home Sharing Stopped Working Overnight --- What Happened?

Sunday night (September 15), I was able to stream video from my iTunes to my Apple TV via Home Sharing. I went home last night (September 16) and tried to watch a couple of videos. Apple TV told me I had to turn on Home Sharing, which was already on. I tried everything I could possibly think of, restarting, rebooting, everything on the technical articles, an I ultimately did a restore. Nothing. It's not working. I did absolutely nothing to alter the settings between Sunday and Monday. So what is the deal? Is anyone having similar problems?

Bailcam, I did a lot of searching in these forums and found a solution. I created a rule in my antivirus software which opened the ports Apple TV uses in iTunes. Then I shut down my computer and restarted. I opened up iTunes and turned Home Sharing on. I then turned off Home Sharing on Apple TV and restarted. Once it was back up, I turned Home sharing on and voila, Apple TV was accessing my Library once again. It's crazy that I had to go to these measures, but the darn thing is working again.

I lost my sound when firefox updated on my computer. Also said something like not compatible to AVG . Does this mean my security is no longer working? What happened to my sound from internet sites????

Sound doesn't work when on the internet. Only has happened since firefox updated on my computer Aug. 25-26 sometime. All of my sound divices work fine off the net.

Reset the SMC and PRAM each at least 2-3 times. I don't know where you got instructions for these resets so please navigate to Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets for correct instructions just in case.

What causes periodic slowing down ?- (cured with reboot)

Hello, all! I'm loving my older Mac mini, but noticed a strange phenomenon - it sometimes gets really slow, cured by rebooting. I used the Activity monitor, and when it is slow, 90% of the CPU power is used by "system" I noticed an application named Twainbridge was using a lot of power, quit that, and that sped things up a lot, but it still progresses to extremely slow. Any thoughts? I have removed some programs. Checking permissions and disk space is OK (24gig free) When it runs great, it's fast and wonderful, and when it's slow, restarting cures it. Any utilities/fixes? Thanks

It depends on the scanner and the software, but generally twainbridge only runs when it is called by the host software or connected hardware. A bit of trial and error might be in order in terms of simply leaving the scanner disconnected and checking to see if you suffer the performance issues. If not, then that should work just fine as a solution, though it suggests the software may not be entirely compatible with the version of MacOS.
It's also possible that the hardware or software vendors have newer drivers and/or software available which may behave a little better.
Also a possibility which has worked for some users with less than ideally compatible devices and software is to set up a separate account on the system to log in to and use just for those specific things, allowing the main account to remain unblemished by performance hits and potential stability issues.

Can't get a decent background to work, and what happened to the 9+ hours visibility on cal?

So, I use my ipad strictly for school. The new iOS7 has made it extremely difficult to select my own background and get it into view. I want to take a picture of my weekly schedule and make it my background, but the iOS7 is insisting on scaling my image. iOS7 has decided that I need to be slightly zoomed in to use my picture. Why can't I use the ipad screenshot of my schedule as my background?
Plus, isn't work from 8 to 5? Or at least 9 hours counting an hour lunch? If so, and assuming that people use their calendars to be productive, why is iCal now showing only 8.5 hours and forces you to scroll down to see the afternoon? Apple, you're claiming you rethought this wonderchild, but instead you've lost practicality! Please stop trying to look like an android tablet and be smarter than your competitors!

Spry will regard the first row as a header row, thus no problem.
The second and third rows will be used as data rows, but their structure is not the same. Hence this will confuse Spry and the data will be incorrectly reflected.

Here we have got the header row, thus no problem, but the repeated is going to be a problem. This will repeat the data collected from the data table in 'index2.html', data that we know that Spry has had a problem with.
In other words, the two widgets will not co-operate with each other. A table structure is too restrictive.
You may like to have a look at using Spry's Sliding Panel or using an Accordion instead of using a table.

I'm still confused!!! How does it work and what happens to...

I have spoken to peeps in apple store as well as apple support but its like talking to geekbots. I have a mess of a music collection on at least two devices and a hard drive. If I purchase iTunes Match what exactly happens?
Do I sign up on my m/mini then later log in from macbook and iT/Match will automatically find the additional songs that are on Macbook and upload them too increasing my overall collection?
How does it improve the rate to 256? Is that only when lstening to streamed music or does it upgrade the songs on my hard drive?
It feels like something that was thrown out there but not fully explained, no wonder I don't know a single person that has subscribed

Yes. Be sure and do one computer at a time and do not enable iTM on any iOS devices until both computers are finished with the initial scans.

If the song is "matched" then you delete the version that is your iTunes library, but not from the cloud, and download the matched file. Nothing is done automatically.

I just upgraded to the newest release, but now when I move/save a message, auto-completion to potential folders no longer works. What happened?

When I begin typing the letters for the destination folder, before it would show a list of the targets matching so far and I was able to click on one to select it. Now I just get a generic text entry box with no intermediate feedback. I do use the add-ons muttkeys and keyconfig, but I didn't think this would affect things.

I wonder if you had another add-on. I use [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/quick-folder-move/ Quick Folder Move] which does something similar to what you describe.

Songs in library will not play - (!) - worked yesterday - what happened? How can I fix?

"Original file cannot be found" error message when I click to play. I have my music on an external HD. It has been thus for the past 3 years. Something happened and when I "Get Info" the songs now have file://localhost:/C:/users/........... and not F:\Music\Hendrix.................. I am not sure why the iTunes decided to rename all 15,000 of the songs in my library with this new location but if I delete iTunes and download it and install it....all of my playlists will be gone. I know as I did this a year or so ago. I went to the Apple site and they say to move the XML folder to the desktop and delete the Library...then import the play list. I did this and it imported just 1,600 songs. So I junked that and recovered the library with the above file location issues....I am back where I started.
iTunes had no problem renaming all my songs in the playlist to the above file://localhost blah blah blah....there must be an equally easy way to select all the files and just tell iTunes they are on the F:\ drive. Yes???
Spent 5 hours trying to figure this out - not a techie - going slowly insane.

Assuming I've understood the problem correctly then the next salient question is does the folder:
C:\Users\Susan\Desktop\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\iTunes Media exist?
****not quite: here's the path - C:\Users\Susan\Desktop\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music ... in that folder are more folders with artist names from CDs I've burned, voice memos, compliations -- these all play.
There are also: iTunes Preferences, Library Genius, Library Extras, Album Artwork, Automatically Add to iTunes and Library -
Genius and Extras have the .itdb suffix, but Library with today's date is .itl ... but strangely, when I search for *.itl in Windows, this library does not come up. The others - LibraryBlank (the one in the Music, not Desktop folder), the one I copied over from my backup media, and the one I named Corrupt on June 14, do.
Would you also check that your library file, iTunes Library.itdb, is in the folder C:\Users\Susan\Desktop\iTunes ? You can check this is the active library by making sure that it has been modified today (assuming you've accessed iTunes).
****The only file on my system called iTunes Library.itdb is the iTunes application! Genius and Extras also have that suffix.
