Workbook is Corrupt

Hi,
I have been working on a BEx workbook that contains about 20 queries. I tried to open it and continue working on it, and I received an error message "Workbook is corrupt and could not be opened". I did not encounter any issues up until the moment I tried re-opening the workbook.
Does anyone know how I can analyse this error, or better yet get around it??
Thanks,
C

Hi
I had the same issue some time ago.
I had to create a new workbook. Now, to avoid this issue I always keep a copy of my workbook, you may have one in sap temp file.

We are having an issue with password protected workbooks that give the message "Workbook is Corrupted" when we try to refresh them on the BI Server.  Then we get a message that: "A CRITICAL PROGRAM ERROR HAS OCCURRED".
The workbooks are saved locally (on a user's Desktop, folder, etc).  Is there any reason why this would be happening?  Please let me know if you need more information?  We are on BI 7.0 and are using MS Office 2003.

  • This workbook is corrupt and cannot be loaded

    Hello All,
    I am on SAP GUI 7.20 (Patch Level 1) -- SAP BW 7.0 (Service Pack 19) -- BEx Analyzer 7.20 (Support Pack 2, Patch 1) -- Microsoft Excel 2010.
    1. I tried saving a new query that I had created in BEx Query Designer 7.20 (Support Pack 2, Patch 1) .......... into workbok in BEx Analyzer. So this is an abosultely new query and I opened it in Excel 2010 and then I tried saving it as a workbook.
    2. Then I log out off BEx and log back in. Then I go tried opening the new workbook that I had created and I get the error message " The workbook is corrupt and cannot be loaded". I tried saving other queries into workbooks and tried to open them.... but I am getting the same error for all of them.
    3. But strangely, already existing workbooks are opening fine.
Is there any logical explanation behind this issue? BTW, I saw Note# 1498919 and its related to my problem. In that note, it talks about problems when moving from Excel 2007 - 2010, but here I am already in 2010.
If anyone has faced this problem or has some suggestions .... please advise.

    Patrick,
I found a solution to the problem. Just as you, I'm running  "SAP GUI 7.20, Patch Level 7" and "BI Addon SP4, Patch 2 and are using Excel 2010.
You need to go to "Excel options" -> "save" the you have to choose "always save in this format" set it to "97-2003" and now it works. you can create and open your workbooks in Excel 2010. I know is not the best solution but it works and you can always reset your settings after using Excel for Analyzer.
I hope you can use my advise.

  • SAPGUI 7.20 / Excel 2010 - Workbook is corrupt and cannot be loaded

    Hi all:
    SAPGUI 7.20 SP 0
    Excel 2010
    BW 7.0
Queries run fine in Analyzer. No issues.
However, whenever we try to open a workbook saved in Excel 2007 we get this error "The workbook is corrupt and cannot be loaded".
These workbooks are executed fine from any PC with Excel 2007, same SAPGUI version (7.20 SP 0).
Furthermore, if we open a query and save a workbook (now in Excel 2010) we get the same error "The workbook is corrupt and cannot be loaded".
    Basically, we can't open workbooks.
Since the only difference in both scenarios is Excel (same SAPGUI) I checked in some Microsoft forums and read something about incompatibilities in the new Visual Basic coding in Excel 2010 compared to 2007.
Other than that, nothing else so far.
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Luis

  • Workbooks becoming corrupted using Windows 7, Office 2010, BEx 3.x, GUI 720

    Hi Experts.
I have just been upgraded from XP to Windows 7 and from Office 2003 to Office 2010.  I have installed SAP GUI 720 patch level 5  and I've patched the BEx 3.x  portion as well since we are still on BEx 3.x queries and workbooks.
I can execute queries and workbooks with no problems.  When I save a workbook, and then I try to reopen that workbook it's corrupt.  Excel doesn't even recognize the file format.  When I tell Excel to open it anyway, it's in machine language.
I ran the installation check for the Business Explorer and it found 54 RED errors.  I uninstalled and reinstalled again, but still have gotten the 54 RED errors.  Any ideas how to fix this?

    Dear Adam,
Unfortunately Excel 2010 has a lot of bugs.
The SAP is working on these issues but, it seems the issue lies over a Microsoft DLL.
Per my experience, I recommend you to use Excel 2003 or Excel 2007. They are working fine with BEx Analyzer.
    Kind regards,
    Rafael Lermann

  • Corrupt workbook when sent through email

    Hi,
I have setup a precalculation server on a Windows XPSP2 PC, installed Excel 2003SP3 and SAPGUI 640p24.
When calculating a workbook, it's created correctly (as I can open it on the client in the C:\Windows\temp folder), but the sent zip file with the workbook is corrupt.
The tracelog file shows the following entries at the end of the distribution:
    BExCompression.SupportsCompression: Compression NOT supported
File or assembly name vjslib, or one of its dependencies, was not found.
    BExConnect.Closed
When i display logs in transaction RSPRECADMIN I can see a lot entries with the following message:
DataTable iServerProperties  DataTable iVarTable) Boolean[] CopyBack)  String[] namedParameters)
    and also:
Unresolved exception occurred on the precalculation server
I don't find any obvious problems in the BexPreCalcLog.
I have setup everything according to to the u201CHow Tou2026Troubleshoot Information Broadcasting (BEx Workbooks)u201D pdf.
    Additional Info:

Thanks for your quick response WernerS.
I have verified and reinstalled both J# 2.0 and .NET 2.0
However, when trying to execute the workbook now, I can see that on the remotePC where the PreCalc server is installed, Excel uses up almost 80mb RAM before excel returns an error in a popup saying:

  • Precalculation corrupt Excel workbook

    Dear All,
I installed the precalculation service and untill I open the Excel workmap on my local PC, where I opend my email account and saved the workbook on my desktop, it works fine.
When opening the workbook I get the error in excel that the workbook is corrupt.....
Anyone had this problem earlier ?
    Best regards
    Marcel

    Hi Experts,
I would like to share you little bit regarding Precal Server 7.0.
1)Whenever you install precalserver, please take care of installation path as mentioned in SAP note..  1039616
The path of the precalculation service is the same as the path of the BI front
    end installation.
(Mostly this would be C:\Program files\SAP\BW\Frontend).
After installation checkout following files are installed in the location C:\Program files\SAP\BW\Frontend.
    BExPreCalcServerProgram.exe
    BExPreCalcServiceRestarter.exe
    BExPreCalcWindowsService.exe
    BExPrecServiceInstaller.exe
    BExPreCalcRfcServer.dll
    BExPreCalcInstance.dll
    sapbexp.xla
Issue: Sometimes it will throw error like.
Precalculation failed: E value cannot be null
    Parameter name:buffer
    cannot precalculate workbook wb_70_test2
Error occured during processing of framework
    class CL_RSRD_PRODUCER_EXCEL, type PROD
Solution: This issue is mostly related to not proper installation of precal server. To solve this issue, you have to
uninstall the precal server and restart the machine, and again install the precalserver as specfied in note
    1039616
2)Certain time in Windows service the SAP BW Precalculation service dispay start mode but eventhough it is not started
to solve this issue , again you have to restart your SAP BW Precalculation service.
3)Don't Create too many instance(Register) in RSPRECADMIN for your precal server.
4)Check your MIcrosoft Excel version and its support of precal server.(it is better to know the prerequisite of precalserver)
5)Sometimes if you precalculate older workbooks it will throw error. To avoid this upgrade your workbook by opening itin New version
of Excel analyzer and save it again. This will upgrade your workbook.
6)If you not properly saved your workbook, it will through error or you will receive corrupted workbook.
7)After installing your precalserver, check your precalserver staus(green), if it is not show in green, again goto
window serverices and start your precal server windows services.
8)Test your precalserver in RSPRECADMIN. Goto your precalserver(registered/instance that you created in RSPRECADMIN). Dobule click it
give a sample workbook and email-id.
9)As fas as i know precalserver is not working properly for workbook with variables and complex workbooks.Correct me if am wrong.
Check your precalserver in these scenarios.
if it is useful assign points.
    hope it helps

  • Excel 2010 Crashing on .xlsm enabled workbook

    Hi,
I have a workbook that I had been using for over a year with a very simple formatting macro in it.  As of about two weeks ago, adding new data to the spreadsheet causes Excel to crash, rendering the workbook as corrupt.  I have started fresh with
a new workbook and re-recorded the macro at least a dozen times, and it will run once - maybe twice - and then, when new data is put into the workbook, it crashes.  The weird thing is, I have anothe workbook that also has a simple formatting macro
in it and that one runs fine.  Both worksheets get the data from the same source, which is copied and pasted into the workbook with the macro.
    Any ideas?????
    Thanks!
    Nancy

    Hi,
Have you tried some general steps to troubleshoot this issue? For example, Repair Office. If not, please try this KB and check if they are helpful:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2758592/en-us
If this issue still exists, we need to collect the event log to do further troubleshoot.
Steps: Open Event Viewer to check whether there's any error about the Excel/Word crash issue.
Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter. In the Event Viewer, browse to Windows Logs -> Application, there may be some errors after the crash.
To protect your privacy, you may send the error logs to
[email protected], we will try to find the cause.

  • Workbook is not displaying the 2nd variable

    Hi experts,
I have a workbook with 4 queries, 2queries are having variable1 and another 2 queries are having variable 2.
when I run a workbook , pop up is displaying only variable1. Variable 2 is not displaying.
when I run queries individually variables are working. But while running workbook variable 2 is missing.
Till last month it was good. From this month Iam facing this problem.
    Suggest me your valuable points.
    Regards,
    Rajesh.

    hi Rajesh,
Sometimes the Workbooks get corrupted, just transport them once again to PROD or send that WB to the user and save it in  his Desktop and ask him to run it.
Also try to run the query individually and check.

  • ActiveX Excel Workbook Close won't save

I am using ActiveX with Excel and trying to save and close a workbook, but not close the application.
    My question is two fold:
First, I can't get a workbook to close when save is wired up to it and set as True. But, when save is set to False, the workbook closes fine (except it doesn't save obviously). I figured this could be related to the following sentence from MSDN
If there are changes to the workbook and the workbook appears in other open windows, this argument is ignored.
To verify this is not the case, I closed completely out of Excel and tried again. Still the same issue.
So, my next step was to try a workaround like using the saveas method, then I can close the workbook without saving after this (i.e. false constant wired up).
From MSDN: xlLocalSessionChanges = 2       The local user's changes are always accepted.
But, when I wire "2" to the conflict resolution variant for the saveas method, I still get a dialog popping up asking the user if it's ok to overwrite the file.
Has anyone run into this before? I have pasted useful links to MSDN below.

  • Out of line object 'DataSource' -- but when re-saving table properties, no issues

I've got a PowerPivot workbook that's connecting to an Oracle database, then calculating a few measures. When I "test the connnection" in PowerPivot, it's fine. When I go to "Table Properties" and re-save, it seems to pull the dataset
fine. But refreshing within Excel gives me,
We couldn't refresh the table 'AthleticGPABlahBlah' from the connection 'Student_PLSQLBlahBlah'. Here's the error message we got: Out of line object 'DataSource', referring to ID(s) 'c6427542-blahblah', has been specified but not used. The following
    system error occurred: Unspecified error
My data types seem right, and I don't have any big dates. Is my workbook just corrupt? I'd love to not re-do it, so any tips to getting this fixed would be great!

    Hi Hensen,
You mentioned that you don't have any big dates but do you have any dates that are too small? What happens when you use the Table Properties to restrict dates to all be on or after 1/1/2000, for example?

Renaming OS.DLL to OS.DLL.Old; Restarting application

I tried clean boot, too. That did not seem to fix the issue.
After many failed attempts repairing the issue, I finally figured out something that works.
Start Excel in Safe Mode ( run: excel \safemode)
Alt - F11 (opens VBA editor)

    Un-checked the following:
    OLE Automation
    Microsoft Office 15.0 Object Library

    Re-open workbook normal
I've not had the errors reappear. Thoughts are that the workbook was corrupted and the add-in was affected.
