Workbook takes 15 minutes to return results - how to best invstigate this?
Hi,
Can any one offer any advice or provide steps on how best to investigate why a WB is taking over 15minutes to return the data from the report?
Basically when I select the workbook, a small window pops up saying "predicting..." and shows the elapsed time...
I have access to the back end also.

Hi Andrew,
As Kranthi mentioned before, better to turn Query predictor off that way you will find the diffeenece and also more efficient for end users, instead of waiting on calculating estimate it will run the query as soon as you click to the run the workbook. We recently disabled Query predictor and now reports running faster than before without taking estimate and everyone likes it :)
Since these pref.txt settings are global and you need to notifiy to everyone who are using Discoverer and ask ERP sys admin to disble by changing PREF.TXT file settings.
FYI.. these are steps you can forward to sysadmin.
Disable Query Prediction:
For Plus/Viewer:
Edit the <oracle_home>/discoverer/util/pref.txt on the middle-tier server and set QPPEnable=0
Execute the <oracle_home>/discoverer/util/applypreferences script (.sh or .bat)
For Desktop:
Edit the registry and set QPPEnable=0
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\ORACLE\Discoverer <version>\Database

The Maverick update on my 2009 Mac caused the command key to cause the current page to hide. It sometimes stays in the side but mostly, after a delay, will return to the screen with the action completed. Such commands as Print, Copy, Paste, all of the Command shortcuts do this.
It is impossible to focus on the work since it disappears, delays and then returns.
How can I change this to act like the usual commands and just make the action occur instantly on the page as it rests on the screen?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entries, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.) -

guitarist youngFor Instagram you can try and uninstall and reinstall the app and see if that fixes it. But if not you can try and resetting all settings, Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

"select count(*) from dba_jobs_running" takes 5 minutes to return
Hi,
I login as sys or system from sql*plus to run query "select count(*) from dba_jobs_running". This query takes about 5 minutes to run.
Querying other DBA_* views returns instantly, only this dba_jobs_running view is troubling.
I have 11 records in dba_jobs, and 18 records in v$lock as usual.
No error or warning in logfile, no trace file.
What's possibly wrong with the server?

Wifi connection does not last longer than 5 minutes at a time, how do I fix this?
I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) and after I upgraded my OS to Yosemite the wifi connectivity has been terrible. I have barely been able to maintain a proper wifi connection for longer that 5 minutes at a time.
I exactly have the same problem as this "Unable to check mark whole playlists to play since last update. ONly allows me to check one at a time. How do I fix?" I have a windows7. Please help.

Recently firefox started opening new tabs when I click on search results how do I get this to stop
When I use Google and I click on a search result it opens a new tab where it used to just take me to a new page in the tab I was using I was looking in the tabs tab in options and saw I could choose it to open in a new window but I don't see an option to open it in the current tab. This started happening out of nowhere.
Found a setting in Google that was telling it to open all result in a new Windows which I was guessing that Firefox was overriding and open it in a new tab like settings suggested unchecked the box in Google and now the behavior is back to normal.

I Backed up my fiancé's IPhone 4, forgot to sign out. I then plugged my IPhone 5, should have selected returning user under my name, but instead I selected new device and started backing up under my fiancé 's name, can some one instruct me how to plug my IPhone 5 & select it under my name
Restore the device from the backup created.
If no backup exists, there is nothing to recover. -

Firefox takes forever to open/startup. How can I fix this?
I am running Windows XP. All updates are current. IE opens up fast, but Firefox takes forever. Also, it is using way too much memory. Please advise.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

I purchased an IPad Mini for my mother-in-law. I used my Apple account since she didn't have one. I need to open an account for her and change the account on the IPad Mini from mine to hers. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this done? Thanks.
