Workbook to be converted as webreport!

Hi Friends,
I've got one workbook, which contains five queries in the same page.
i would like this workbook to be excuted in the web, i'm workingon BI 7.0, SP10,
could anybody let me know the way of getting workbooks excuted in the web using WAD?

Publishing BW workbook in portal can be done in two ways.
1)Using RRMXP transaction
Publishing BW Workbooks into Portal
2)Using information broadcasting in portal and publishing into the KM folder
For information broadcasting - you have to install the precalculation server in the portal server.This is needed for precalculation of the workbook.After installing the precalculation server start the corresponding service.If you execute transaction "RSPRECADMIN" in BW, it shows the status of precalculation server, Whether it is running or not
After doing this. Assign the BEX role inthe portal to the user.Now from this screen you can broadcast the BW workbook

Hi,
BW Web Publisher Toolbar
The version of the toolbar that you use with the Web Publisher, depends on whether you store the Web templates on the BW server or the ITS server (see Determining Path and ITS Settings).
If you have chosen the ITS as the server, the toolbar has the following functions:
Symbol
Function
Create new ITS Web template
You use this function to create a new Web template.
Check out ITS Web Template
You use this function to check out an ITS Web template, and store it locally. Storing the ITS Web template locally, means that you are able to change it, by adding a new item, for example. You either overwrite the old ITS Web template, or create a new one. You have to store the new ITS template under a new name.
Check in ITS Web Template
The ITS Web template is checked in, and saved in the BW system.
Publish to ITS
The ITS Web template is stored on the ITS you select.
Display Web template in the Browser
The Web template that has been checked in and published on the ITS, is displayed in the Web Browser.
Copy HTML tag to clipboard
You use this function to save the item as an HTML tag on the clipboard.
Wizard
This function takes you to the Web Publisher Wizard.

If you have chosen BW as the server, the toolbar has the following functions:
The publish function is deactivated, because it is only used in conjunction with ITS Web templates. The other symbols have the same functions as described in the above table, but they refer instead to Web templates that are stored on the BW server.
Views
The saved query views that the Web reports are based on, are displayed in the Views field. You use the Switch Workbook button to get to the Open dialog, where you open queries in other workbooks.
Items
The items that are already available for the view you have chosen are displayed in the Items field.
Choose New Item to create a new item, and to specify the item type used (map, chart, table, navigation block, and so on).
Choose Change Attribute to determine the value of the highlighted attribute for the item you have chosen.
Choose Save item to save the item you have been editing.
Choose Delete item to delete the selected item.
Properties of the Current Item
In the Properties of the current item field, the attributes that correspond to the item type you have selected are displayed. Depending on the type of attribute, you activate or deactivate attributes by double-clicking on the relevant attribute, and you determine the value of the attribute with either a double-click, or by choosing the Change Attribute... function.
You can convert the spool to PDF using the program RSTXPDFT5 or
using the fun module CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF.
then you can mail it to others using the fun module
SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1.

Migration of bex 3.x queries and workbooks to Bex 7.1 queries and workbooks

Hi,
Migration of bex 3.x queries and workbooks to Bex 7.1 queries and workbooks.
For instance when you edit,open an 3.x query in 7.0 query designer it is automatically migrated.Would it be same if we open it in 7.1 query designer?Is it possible to migrate queries and workbooks without any fail or deletion or loss?

I will add to the already excellent suggestions made above that the migration from Bex 3.x to Bex 7.0 is VERY laborious. There are no automated tools.
All queries and workbooks must be identified (use this as an opportunity to get rid of unused objects)
Each query must be converted to BI 7 and repairs done as needed.
Each Workbook must be converted to BI 7 and repairs done as well. The "Automated" conversion tool that SAP provides (it's behind the scenes Visual Basic) presents problems with at least 50% of the workbooks, and so they have to be manually fussed with.
If you've used Visual Basic at all in your Workbooks, you'll have to change 'em all. The On Refresh event no longer exists.
And of course, test... test.. test.. and test.
And don't forget to retrain your users. The User interface is dramatically different.
Good luck ! We're 3 months in to a five month conversion project.

Long time WORKBOOK opening after technical system upgrade

Hi Gurus!
After BW technical upgrade (from 3.0B to 7.0) we have a problem with long time workbook opening (more than one minutes without refreshing workbook queries). After system upgrade we are still using BEx Analyzer 3.X version because our workbooks are not convert yet.

BexGetData over data elements that are not drilled down

Hi,
I create a query in the query designer open the same in the analyzer. I perform navigations on the same and convert the worksheet to formula.
Now the BexGetData formula contains references only to the items that have been drilled down in the rows or columns. Is it possible to reference the data elements in the free characteristics section (which have not been drilled down in the workbook before i convert to formula).
Basically I am trying to avoid having to retrieve a large amount of information if I need to build a formula based on many data elements.

Well you cannot as the BexGetData works with the Analysis grid and its cells which are displayed in the result areas (rows and columns) and doesnt refer to Free chars
PS-
To avoid formula errors being displayed when you open the workbook in formula mode, configure the data provider for the analysis grid such that the results are displayed offline. This allows you to display the data in your result set without the need to connect to the server.

I have one doubt, is there any possibility to the URL generated for the BW reports with out converting as webreport and then publishing to EP Portal and generating, i don't want all these things, i have several business content reports, i want those reports to be displayed in the internet explorer, but those are getting displayed, but the problem is that if i have to give those reports to my higher authorities, i want to give just URL without converting as webreport and then publishing to EP.

Hi,
Once workbooks are saved with the BEx Analyzer, they can no longer be used in the BEx Analyzer from SAP BW 3.x. An exception to this are the BW 3.x standard workbooks from SAP BW 3.x, which are converted automatically.
With the BEx Analyzer, objects (workbooks and queries) are converted when existing objects from SAP NetWeaver '04 or earlier SAP BW releases are opened in the BEx Analyzer.
Standard workbooks are automatically converted. Workbooks with customer-specific code enhancements are converted according to the most appropriate method. Manual adjustments may be necessary to ensure the workbooks perform correctly.
Reresh Workbook on Open,
When you open a workbook from the server, the query is automatically refreshed with values from the server. If not selected, if you open a workbook from your local file system, you must manually refresh the query after you open it to retrieve the latest results from the server.
If a workbook contains multiple queries that use the same variable, you are prompted to enter the variable values again for each query. To avoid this, select Display Same Variable Only Once.

Data Refresh does not work

I have set up the gateway and instance in Power BI Admin center and it is running. However, I encountered this status when testing the connection :

My workbook is a xlsx workbook that I converted from xlsm format. It contains Data Model connected to the SQL Server database.

How to convert a workbook into PDF and broadcast as Email attachment

Hello Gurus,
i have installed the ADS (Adobe Document services). I would like to broadcast workbooks as a pdf file to some user.
When i open the workbook and go to Broadcast --> Setup a broadcast setting for this workbook. The distribution type is
Broadcast E-mail; Broadcast E-mail (Bursting); Broadcast Portal; Broadcast Multichannel and Output Format only MS Workbook and Link to current Data. Here i miss the possibility as PDF.
Where can i set up that the workbook should be broadcast as PDF.
Any help appreciated.

i also read that with changing the format in Report designer then broadcasting via PDF. Is there no possibility for PDFs for MS Excel Workbooks? How does it work when opening the query in Report designer? What do i have to do there but it is no solution for us because in the workbooks we use GET BEX DATA formulas and just show parts of the analyisis grid. I need a proper solution how to use broadcaster converting workbooks into PDF an send them as email attachment

How can I convert an entire excel workbook to pdf? I have the box in the preferences for converting excel files marked to convert the entire workbook. I am using Abobe Acrobat 11 Statndard. This previously worked fine when I was using Adboe Acrobat 10 Statndard. Now in order to convert the entire workbook I have to open the excel file, Highlight all the workbook tabs and then save the file. Any ideas?

In Acrobat click Edit | Preferences | Convert to PDF: select Microsoft Office Excel, then click on Edit Settings. Make sure that 'Convert entire Excel workbook' is checked.

How can I use VBA to convert SharePoint workbooks from 97-2003 format to 2007+ format?

I want to convert a workbook that lives on SharePoint from the old 97-2003 file format to the newer one.
The two CheckIn lines fail with "Subscript out of range". The workbook gets checked out, and the SaveAs works. But, once the workbook is saved as another name, I can't check in either workbook using VBA. If I close out of the new file name, it
asks if I want to check it in, and works if I say yes. But, VBA won't do it.
The old workbook seems to be no longer known by Excel once the SaveAs occurs, so I have to go to the SharePoint server and manually discard the checkout.

I am uploading an Excel Workbook (xlsx format) to convert to a pdf and it has taken over an hour and it is still not uploading. I have even tried to restart it and that did not work.

I'm trying to upload an Excel Workbook (in xlsx format) to have it converted to a PDF file and that little circle has been spinning forever. I tried to restart the process but it did the same thing. So I tried to open up each individual worksheet of the workbook and save them individually. I "think" I got that to work, but when I go to the combine tab, I see the four pages that I have selected with spinning "thinking" circles on all of them. Please help. I have a client waiting for this proposal and I don't know what to do!

Are you on a slow Network Connection? I would recommend you to Clear the browser Cache and History and then try again or try using a different browser on a different Network Connection.

Excel has a 'text to numbers' function, I would use that.

Programatically convert Excel workbook sheet to an image (bmp or jpeg)

My client has a requirement for me to convert an Excel workbook sheet to an image of any kind, bmp, jpeg, ect. This is a batch Java 1.5 application and I have generated a spreadsheet using JExcelApi. Now I need to email the spreadsheet as an inline image ... the client does not want an attachment. I'm using the Spring framework Mail api to actually email it. This api requires inline content be an image. Therefore, I need a way to programatically convert Excel to an image.
I've done my homework and researched for many hours now, but have not come up with any solutions. I also looked at 3rd party tools googling thru pages and pages of converters, but they all seem to be GUI tools to manually do the conversion. Aspose.cells looked promising but it only supports .Net, for this functionality. Please suggest a 3rd party tool, or provide a code sample of how to do the conversion.
