Workflow customisation task 'Maintain Prefix Numbers'

Hi All,
In Workflow customisation,I have a red cross against the task ''Maintain Prefix Numbers".
Please can someone clarify if this config is actually mandatory (i.e. required to change from a red cross to a green tick) and what number ranges should be used?
OSS suggest sending a request over to them for this range.

The customisation task 'Maintain Prefix Numbers' is basically required for the number range assignment for   custom workflows created in the system.
This setting is mandatory along with the other settings like "Confirgure RFC desrtination','schedule background jobs' etc.However,sometimes when this setting is transported from one environment to another(e.g. dev box to qual box),although the request is transported correctly,in SWU3,a red  mark is seen  for  this setting instead of green tick.But still all  the activated workflows function properly as expected.

        If you are dealing with Workflows, and this is the first time you are using it, you should first execute the authomatic workflow customizing in transaction SWU3, which includes the creation of the number prefix.         This configuration must be performed in all clients, so you can choose Local Object to save it as a local object (Package: $TMP)

    Hi,
    I have a question related to EHSM system configuration.
    I have read in a configuration document that during Automatic Workflow Customisation the following setting is required to be done. In SWU3 T Code, Under Maintain Defination Environment, there is Maintain Prefix Number. Here as per the document , I need to give prefix number as 996 along with System ID and Client ID.
    I would like to understand what does this number 996 refers to and how it will help in workflow. Appriciate if someone can help me understand this. Also does it required to have tick mark ( green) for all the objects for incident management workflow to work properly ?

    Hi Sudarsan
    All the objects related to workflow (standard task, workflow tasks and others) are assigned a eight digit number. The prefix number is used for the first 3 digits and the rest five is automatically assigned by the system (starting with 00001).
    For example , workflow consists of 8 digits (00500001), first 3 digits 005 has to be maintained as Prefix number for workflows and  last 5 numbers(00001) should be automatically picked by system during work flow customization.

    I'm creating the prefix numbers for Workflow and Organizational Management, but in the form the "New" button is disabled. Is this because there is no Organizational Structure defined yet? or any other suggestion?

    Hi Steve,
    Are you using OOW4 to maintain the prefix? This transaction opens in Display mode by default. In the top left of the screen there is the Display <-> Change button. Click this and the Create button will be available.
    If you do not have the Display <-> Change button then it is most likely an authorisation issue. Run transaction /nSU53 after opening OOW4 and it should list what authorisations have failed.

  • Some Users cannot Open Workflow Approval Task

    We have a SPD workflow published to our production site and it includes a 'Start Approval Process' task which involves a number of users (determined by a lookup to another list) this worked brilliantly until we republished the workflow with some minor changes,
    none of which were to this particular approval task. Now we are seeing some strange behaviours. When some users click the task to approve they are seeing 'This from cannot be opened in a browser, To open this form use Microsoft Infopath'. Now strangely it's
    only certain users, if you're a site collection admin you never have this error. So if a user previously had the error and i then add them to the site collection administrators list the error goes away and they can complete the task.
    Obviously not a solution! giving users full control permissions on the task list or task item doesnt fix the error either. The same workflow on our UAT works without any issues. The task forms in SPD have not been customised either. Its a SP2010 Standard
    farm with no infopath services obviously. Bizarrely there are some users with only Contribute rights to the task list who can open approve tasks, so it's looking like a permissions issue to me but I'm at a loss to find a fix. I've tried totally removing
    the worklows and republishing, regenerating the .xsn task forms in SPD by deleting them and republishing, removing and re-adding the task related content types to site, Changing the Approval Task settings 'only allow users to edit their tasks...' to false
    and then back to true, the works, but to no avail.
    Anybody any ideas?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that Some Users cannot Open Workflow Approval Task.
    I recommend that you can create a new list and workflow to check whether it works.
    Then use the user who get the error to open task.
    If he can open the task in the brower, the issue is related to the older list.
    Then you can use the new created list and assgin the task.

  • Configure the work flow-maintain prefix number

    Dear friends
    I am trying to configure the work flow using SWU3, to maintain prefix number, systems asking for the prefix number, which number I have to give, what is the criterion for defining this number
    For development the prefix number is 999
    For production which number I have to maintain,

    The Prefix number doesn't get transported to production.
    What i meant is when you create a workflow in Dev the 1st 3 digits would be 999XXXXX.
    So when you transport the workflow from Dev to Prod, the workflow which you created moves into Prod.
    As far as i understand, prefix number is required to maintain in Dev to create custom workflow templates. But in Prod, no one is going to create workflow from scratch and hence Prefix maintanence in Prod is not required.
    Try out this in Quality or any other test system apart from you Dev if you can.
    1) Transport the workflow from Dev to Quality.
    2) Dont maintain the prefix in quality system.
    3) check if the workflow is working or not in quality.

    Dear Richard Antony,
    The Versioning in the Workflow is very important its some what simmilar to the version on any SAP Objets like Tables, Program etc.
    Here Suppose any change comes in working workflow, then in stead of directly change them you can create a version of them and them modify it. So that you can reverst back to that version if required.
    Like wise there is lots of importance of versioning Workflow.
    The Active Plan version is also important to establish at SWU3. As all the Workflow is using Organization management which is very depended on the Active Plan version. so based on which Plan version you want to use you can Provide in SWU3 to tell Workflow system to use this.

    Actually we are trying to use the same bapi from se37, we are passing all the details which is required to process the bapi_goodmvt_create. But still the bapi returning the same error what sangeeta got in the above. Can you please guide me how to achieve this.
    how the values has to pass to the Serial Number?

  • Movements of a material which maintains serial numbers

    Hi experts,
    Need to track the movements of a material which maintains serial numbers. Need to get data such as PO number, PO line item,  Material code, GR number, GRN date, serial number of the item, Goods Issue note, issue date and the text feild.
    pls note that the requirement is need to fulfill in a single report,
    eg: For the material XYZ we have raised a po namely ABC123
    the most important thing in this report is to get the GRN, Serial number and the goods issue note
    with the use of ITOB table i can get the serial number and with the use of MSEG can get the GRN
    problem is with the issue note
    ichecked with IQ 09 T code and using the history tab i can get the movement of that serial number
    but when you check the table which maintain data for the movement of serial number, they are maintained in structure and not in a table,
    therefore how can i get the required information
    pls assist to solve this, thanks in advance

    What do you think about the idea of reorganizing Help according to procurement workflows?
    What exactly are the fundamental workflows and tasks you execute frequently toward the accomplishment of procurement goals?
    Take a look at the Table of Contents/navigation bar toward the left side of the SAP Sourcing Help page. Currently, its top-level topics are Getting Started, Workbench, Spend and Compliance, etc. If you could rename those top-level topics with the names of fundamental procurement workflows, what would you name them?
    Going down a level, what are the fundamental tasks you must execute within any of the fundamental procurement workflows mentioned above?
    Any input you'd give on these questions will help us improve how Help is organized and written as we go forward. It will be greatly appreciated.

  • Upgrade from 4.6 to ECC 6.0 -- can we upload customisation tasks

    Hi,
    Presently we have two SAP instances.
    One in 4.6 version and another in 4.0B now we are consolidating these two instances into a single SAP instance into version 6.0.
    Here my problem is can we upload the customisation taks into the new version.
    Let me not confuse you, please have a look at the example
    In 4.6version instance  we have 250 House bank accounts & in 4.0b 600 house bank accounts.
    In the new upgraded system, which is a combination of these two, literally we have to manually create 850 house bank accounts.
    I know that this data will be residing in table T012K.
    Is there any way that i can download this task and upload in the ECC 6.0 version with some uploading tools like LSMW / BDC.....
    This is one of the customisation task which is involved apart from that there are many....
    Can any one suggest if there is a way around, in order to evade in not creating them manually.

    The problem you will face is, that the table structures and dependent tables are different on source and target system. You may be able to download them using LSMW, modify the download and "upload" to the ERP 6.0 system but I doubt, that you will be able to do that without having a in-depth look on all objects you want to transfer.
    What you could do is downloading the data (for each object) of both systems into an excel file, adjust them (merge them) and then create an LSMW to upload. However, this will be a lot of work.
    It would be much easier, if you would copy both systems to a separate system, upgrade both to ERP 6.0 and then, having the same structure on both systems, merge them.

  • Error when associating workflow with Task Content Type

    Using SharePoint Designer 2010, I have created a simple workflow that sends an email out when a tasks due date has past.  I created this as a Global Workflow and then tried to "Associated to Content Type", selecting "Task".  I am then taken
    to... COMPANY PORTAL--> Site Settings--> Site Content Types--> Task--> Add a Workflow. When I try to associate the new "Global" workflow and select OK I get the following error...
    Error
    Workflows may not be associated with content types whose base is on 'WorkflowTask'.
    I have looked up the error but find no real explination of what it means.  And I have associated global workflows with custom content types and never had this issue. 
    So what's going on?

    I understand that when you bind the workflow to Tasks content type, there is an error. I can reproduce this error. This is because we cannot add a reusable workflow to a workflow tasks content type. When you add the reusable workflow to the Tasks content
    type, you must have checked the ‘Add this workflow to all content types that inherit from this content type’. In this way, the workflow will be added to all the Tasks content type and workflowtasks content type. There will an error. After you close the error
    message, the workflow is added to the Tasks content type.
    The workaround is the check No to ‘Add this workflow to all content types that inherit from this content type’.

  • Error msg VH 777 "Pricing/Euro: Attention: Euro Customising not maintained

    While running CO-PA Valuation (KEPM) we are getting error message
    VH 777 (Pricing/euro:Attention: EURO Customising not maintained).
    When we have done the previous valuation in Dec 2006, we have not
    encountered this kind of error.
    In the error message, the procedure has asked for note 91481 & 135661.
    We have downloaded these notes, however as per system checked, this
    cannot be implemented.
    Our current version is 4.6C with package 47.

    Hi experts,
    I am trying to put an SAP icon in the Workflow standard task description. But it is not appearing.
    Also, is there any way to change the color and font of the text entered in the the description of the standard task?
    To put an icon, i am following the steps mentioned below:-
    then I am choosing a particular Icon, and its corresponding code comes in the editor, <718> in this case.
    But the output does not show any Icon.

    Task has been transported from develpment client to another client for integration testing.
    in the shopping cart advice product has been created by the employee.
    then it goes to advisor for the approval
    This has been done by the workflow.
    It is implemented in both dutch and english.
    English - it is working fine.
    Dutch - the task is not defined.(the code is missing)
    after transporting , we did changes in the task created for implementing this approval description.
    It was working fine in both dutch and english.
    But the corrections in the code are there....
    only in the output After transported to another client dutch part approval description is not correct some part of it are missing
    Is the problem related to the transport or with the modifications of task defined ??
    Can anyone suggest me how to solve this problem.
