Workflow in document library doesn't function properly on uploaded documents

I have a document library with a few different content types. When documents are added to the library either via new or upload I want to run a workflow that numbers the documents (so contracts have a contract number & change orders have an order number).
The counters are in a separate list - one item for each counter, a last number and a calculated next number.
So for contract numbers the workflow gets the nextnumber for the counter and enters it into the contract number field of the current item before sending it back to the counter as last number.
The workflow is set to start on item creation and works just fine with new documents. However, it doesn't work on uploaded documents. In order to discern between the different content types I've set a field condition to recognize if the workflow should run.
When uploading documents the workflow runs before the field is set and therefore doesn't set the contract number.
I tried just setting a 5 min "wait" at the start of the workflow, but then the document fails to save.

Any ideas on how to get the workflow to run properly in order to update the contract number?

According to your post, my understanding is that you had a workflow in document library didn’t work properly.
I hadcreated a list called Counter1, created a library called
New&Upload, modified the view of the list, made it display the
ID of the list.
I created a simple workflow as below, selected “Start workflow automatically when an item is created”, it worked well without any issue no matter
Upload or New a document.
You can create a new workflow with a new library, then check whether it works.
You can also check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
You can check the ULS log by the methods here:

I have a folder named FS0 on my sharepoint 2013 site. The folder is the first level folder under
Default Document library (Shared Documents). When I search for FS0 on the sharepoint site, the search result give a link to home.aspx and not the folder. If I search for any folder that is a second level folder in the library, I get a search result that takes
me inside the folder on clicking it. In my case, I search for a folder named FS1 which directly under FS0. The search result takes me inside FS1 in this case. How can I make the search result display proper links for root level folders also?<o:p></o:p>

Hi Pranava,
I couldn't reproduce this issue, when I create root folder FS0 in "Shared Documents" and start a full crawl, I click the FS0 link from search results page, it will open the FS0 folder as well as folder under FS0.
Please right-click the FS0 name hyperlink (e.g. mine is http://sp/Shared%20Documents/FS0) and paste in IE browser see if it could be accessed successfully.
Also test if other Shared Documents have this issue in other site collection or web applications, if not, run a full crawl may do a trick (please reset search index if only full crawl still doesn't work).

My downloads-window doesn't function properly anymore. It just stays white whenever I am downloading something. Only after downloading the same file once or twice more, it shows the progress of my download. The window in the taskbar -that should progressively turn green- doesn't show anything at all anymore. How can I fix this?

Note that there should only be a prefs.js file (Windows hides the .js file extension) and not a numbered prefs-##.js file.<br />
The presence of a numbered file indicates there there has been a problem with creating/updating prefs.js at some time and you can remove the numbered prefs-1.js file.<br />
If the main prefs.js doesn't have a current time stamp then you will have to delete that file as well and redo all customization settings in Options.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

IMessage doesn't function properly after iOS 8 update

Looked everywhere for somebody with a similar problem but only came to find issues with group messaging, so here is my issue:
I have an iPhone 5C, 16GB with the brand new iOS 8 update.
Before iOS 8, I was able to use all the features of my phone to their full potential, including iMessage.
After about 2 days of having iOS 8, an issue presented itself, I couldn't iMessage only a handful of my friends.
Oddly enough, my iMessage has been acting slow, but still functioning for everyone else while the handful of friends I mentioned before cannot receive or message me using iMessage.
To clarify what happens:
When I click on my Messages app on my iPhone I use the above top-right plus sign to create a new conversation.
When I begin to type in their contact, I notice their name is gray. If this isn't an issue already, when I click on their name to create a new conversation, despite it being gray, it shows green instead of the official iMessage blue, which is the only way I can contact them.
I'd also like to point out that it does not matter whether I am connected to WiFi or using my AT&T Cellular data, iMessage just fails to function properly.
If it helps, the two people I have noticed this issue with have iPhone 4's running the latest iOS 7 firmware. I have been able to message another friend with an iPhone 4, which is a reason I think their phones aren't the issue.

I've had lots of problems with sending some messages as text messages and then other times as iMessages even though I have data and am signed into iCloud and am sending to another iPhone. Group messages are definitely problems with everyone having iPhones. It seems like it usually involves someone who hasn't updated to iOS8 yet. But it doesn't always mess up. It seems random for me and my friends and family who are having these same issues.

Thunderbold with Macbook pro 13 some programs doesn't function properly

I have a macbook pro 13 early 2011 that I connect to my thunderbold 27 display. The problem I have is that some programs don't function properly. For instance, in the doxy pro software I can't select any of the options under(over) the send menu option. I see the menu and everything, but when I hold the mouse over one of the options it doesn't become highlighted. If I try to move the application over to the laptop display by draging it I can't "release', i.e. it sticks to the mouse pointer The only way to get out of the situation is to kill the software. This is not the only software that acts funny, Eclipse IDE is also affected.

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Access MySite Document Library of User Who has shared a document.

I am just confused as we are facing the issue from past two days, We have SharePoint 2013 on premise and are using Mysite Application. Suppose there are two users A and B.
If A share a document from his personal document folder to B. B recieves email notification that a document is shared and he can edit or view documents depending on the permission.
But if B visit the A Mysite and try to access his document library he gets access denied. As per OOTB behavior B should see Shared with everyone folder and the document which has been shared with him.
Please help me to resolve the above issue.

I have done a test in my SharePoint on premise. B can see shared with everyone folder of A and documents which is been shared with B from my site.
For resolving your issue, you need to check whether the feature ‘Limited-access user permission lockdown mode’ is active. if it is activated, you need to deactivate it.
Open your site with an administrator account->Click Site Settings->Click Site Collection features under Site Collection Administration->Scroll to Limited-access user permission lockdown mode, check whether it is active. If yes, please deactivate
it.

Document library Permission - users/group can add/upload/modify but same time not to see other documents

Hi,
I have a question regarding SharePoint document library permission. I am using SharePoint 2013.
I have 3 SharePoint groups (SP-Group-NL, SP-Group-US & SP-Group-BR).
I have given the contribute access to all 3 groups in the document library, so that people can with in these group can upload/add/modify document inside it.
Now I want that people from specific group can only view those document which they uploaded and not all.
Note - (a) I don't want to use audience targeting. (b) I don't want to right any code.

Per my understanding, you might want users in a specific group can view only the documents uploaded by themselves.
In the OOTB list view settings, we can set filter on a list view to only display the documents created by the current user:
However, if you want this filter only apply to users in a specific group, Audience Targeting or custom code would be required as there is no such OOTB feature in SharePoint
list can meet this requirement.
With Audience Targeting, a possible solution is that, we can add two list view web parts into one page, set Audience Targeting on one of them to display only when
the current user is in the specific group, then modify the view settings to apply filter on this list view web part to make it only display the documents created by current user.

Bluetooth doesn't function properly?

Bluetooth dosen't function on my iPhone 4s. It is seeking, but is unable to find my MacBook. Bluetooth symbol doesn't show om display. Any fix lut there?

It is working fine. This is not a feature of iphone. Never has been.
Bluetooth is supported for stereo speakers/headsets, handsfree telephone devices/headsets, some peer-to-peer apps from the app store, some keyboards, and internet tethering where provided by the carrier.
Other than this it will not connect to a computer/device/phone.

HP Officejet Ppro 8630 e-all-in-one 2nd Tray doesn't function properly.

I originally purchased this printer (today in fact) because it seemed better to have one machine instead of three in the office and I also required the 2nd tray. After getting it back to the office, setting it up, going through everything, I found out that the 2nd tray is essentially useless. Previous (and hopefully future) models of this line, came with a dual driver that allowed the trays to function seperate from each other. This current model uses the second tray essestially as storage. You can not automatically print from one tray or the other. You can only have a default tray and/or a locked tray. I would definately NOT recommend this product to anyone that requires seperate printing capability..

The second tray will only support plain paper yes, but the first tray can be used for plain paper, photo paper, envelopes and cards. You can dictate which tray you want to print to when you select a print job. Image source: Specifications page. You could load the first tray with one paper type and print to it when you want to print on that particular paper type. I found the following information in the user guide; Working with trays When using more than one tray, you can make use of the tray features provided and change the settings to achieve a better experience. By default, the printer draws paper from Tray 1. If Tray 1 is empty and Tray 2 is installed and contains paper, the printer will draw paper from Tray 2. You can change the behaviors using the following features:● Default Tray: Set the default tray from which the printer draws paper first.●Tray Lock: Lock a tray to prevent it from accidental use; for example, when you have loaded special paper (such as letterhead or preprinted paper). I recently upgraded to 4.o, then reinstalled 3.6.17 (then upgraded to 3.6.18) & have since encountered many problems. Facebook doesn't function properly, and I cannot watch video on the NYT website. Please help!

I cannot make any comments on Facebook & I cannot view video on the NY Times website. On some other websites I cannot scroll through slideshows. This seems to be strictly a Firefox issue: none of these problems occur on Safari or Chrome.
I'm on a Mac OS 10.6.8. Everything worked before this change. To rectify, per instruction, I have cleared history, cookies & cache; updated Adobe flash; started in Safe Mode & tested all extensions; upgraded and tested all plug-ins and add-ons; created and tested new profile. I do NOT want to upgrade to 4.0 or 5.o. I've spent weeks trying to repair this to no avail; (it shouldn't be this hard. I've been a Firefox user since its inception, but Chrome is looking like my only alternative.) Can anyone please help?

In my case it seems that Firefox just doesn't "see" (or can't find?) the coupon printer application anymore after the FF update. (and yes, my add-ons are enabled - to answer the tech support people's first question).
For me, the coupon printer doesn't even show up in my Firefox "Add-Ons" list anymore. Is that what people typically see when they're saying the coupon printer "doesn't work" with FF? The coupon printer was visible on the add-ons list before my FF update, and now it's totally Gone! It seems that Firefox just doesn't "see" (or can't find?) the coupon printer application anymore since the FF update.
When I'm on the coupons.com site and I click "print coupons", it tells me I haven't installed the application. But it Is installed on my computer, I can see it in my folders, and it works on IE, so it's definitely there.
BTW - I have uninstalled/reinstalled the coupon printer application. I have tried all the suggestions on the Mozilla help/forum sites, as well as the Coupons.com web site. I have closed and re-started Firefox after the installation. I have also shut down and restarted my pc after installation. I tried installing the application with Firefox open, and tried it again with Firefox closed. I've even cleared out all my cookies/history associated with Coupons.com.
... I can't think of anything else to try, except for the "solution" of using IE for coupons.
If it Really is a problem on the Coupon.com end of things, do you think it's worth it if we bombard the coupons.com support team with messages saying they need to fix the problem? (or just a waste of time?) ;(

Updated my iphone 3gs to the ios4.3.5. Now the mail application doesn't function properly. App doesn't sync mail from server - deleting mail hardly works now. When the phone downloads messages from the mail server, it bounces/flashes between accounts too

I recently upgraded to Lion and then updated my iphone to iOS 4.3.5. Now my mail app on the phone seems all messed up. When I check mail, it pulls down mail from the server but I have to go into each individual account to make that happen but even then the view automatically bounces from one mail account to another but never to the Microsoft Exchange server. It also doesn't let me delete mail

I have wasted much time trying different combinations to have push and gmail "send mail as". I guess I have tried so much because it seems like a no brainer.
If you set up as exchange you can at least add in the extra comma and address, but it disappears when you go to send an email.
very frustrating indeed. my solution is to use the gmail app for notifications of new email.

Drupal's Admin menu doesn't function properly with FF 34.0.5

I'm developing a website using Drupal and now the Admin menu at the top of the page is not displaying sub-menus correctly. They aren't missing but just transparent so you can't see them. The admin menu was working perfectly before the upgrade to 34.0.5 and works in Chrome/Safari. It's too bad I can't send you a screenshot.

My wireless mouse scroll doesn't function properly in Thunderbird?

Scroll wheel must be moved 2-3 times before it "'grabs" and scrolls at all, but then not precisely. This is the case both in the Inbox window as well as the message window.

This forum is not the place to fix mouse issues. It is only for Thunderbird questions, how to's etc.
However, before you decide to get another mouse, I would check your Mouse properties first.
When you use your mouse, it sends message to computer on what to do.
If your mouse is not working correctly, see if it needs 'tweaking' of settings to improve performance.
You access this via the 'Control Panel' > 'Mouse'
There shoud be a 'Wheel' tab
Check settings to see if you can improve things.

Back button doesn't function properly

If I'm on, say, page 3 of a forum and I read a post, if I hit the Back button in my browser it takes me back to page 1 rather than page 3. Super-unfriendly and annoying behavior... does this happen to anyone else?
(Why Adobe didn't just use known-great forum software like phpBB I'll never know...)

Found a way to get around the problem with the Back button.
Say I want to read a few posts on page 2 of a forum; I read the first post, then click on the 'Up to Discussions in ...' once. This will modify the URL in the address bar to http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments?view=discussions&start=30
After this I can use the Back button from every topic on that page, and it will always go to the same page 2 (start=30). Of course the same will work on every subsequent page.
