Workflow transition time

Hi
Workflow transition time does not work.
I created a simple workflow transition Yes--No 1 min, no transition the status of the workflow YES

You have a workflow with 2 states 'state 1' and 'state 2' AND you have added a 'transition after time' for 1 minute from 'state 1' to 'state 2'. Then, when you create an entry which has this workflow associated, it enters 'state 1'. After a minute, it does not transition automatically into 'state 2'?
If the above is true, I'd be happy to take a look at your workflow process definition. You can export it and attach with your reply.

  • Can't set Transition times. iMove does it's own thing random times.

When I try to enter a transition time between clips it may actually change but not to what I had entered. If it changes at all, it tends to be to a random number.  I have the preferances set at 3:00  but even this does nothing, the default remains at 0:05 which is vertually no transition.
Can anyone enlighten me?     What am I doing wrong ?    Has any else had this problem ?

  • QT slideshow with non-uniform transition times?

I am creating a QT file which is composed of only still images, using "Import Image Sequence…". But I need the transition times from one slide to the next to be set individually, so one might stay for 10 seconds, another for 1. Is there any way to do this?
I have a rough reference movie which shows the images, at low resolution. The only way I have found is to select the duration of each image in the rough movie, copy the corresponding image from the high res movie, and "Add to Selection & Scale…".
Assuming this is the only way, what is the best way to compress the resultant movie to get good compression? I have Sorenson Squeeze.

You've figured out how to do it: import the images into an image sequence, then import them a frame at a time, add scaled, to your final timeline, then compress the whole thing.
For compression, I can't tell you what codec to use. But the trick is that you should NOT specify a frame rate for the export, because you want the frame rate to be 0 FPS while the images are displaying.
Of course the problem with this method is that you will end up with another video track for each slide. To avoid that, use another method:
Sources: Movie A is an audio track (or whatever sets your final length). Movie B is an image sequence imported at any frame rate. Movie C is a new movie which you are building into your final sequence.
    a) Select the section of Movie A for the next photo
    b) Copy, then create a new movie (we'll call it Movie D)
    c) Paste the selection into Movie D and Select All
    d) Select a photo from Movie B and copy
    e) Add Scaled to Movie D
    f) Select All of Movie D and copy
    g) Paste into the end of Movie C
    h) Close Movie D without saving
    i) IF NOT (last photo added) THEN (a)
    j) Save movie C as a reference movie, then compress it.
Doing that, you will end up building a movie one photo at a time, and it will end up with only one video track. It's less complicated than it looks.

  • Build/Transition times off when exported to Quicktime

I have four Keynote presentations I have built, each of which has several Quicktime movies placed on multiple slides (not the same movie multiple times). I then have Keynote text and shape objects "interacting" with the movies as they play. In Keynote, I have set my build and transition times to perfectly match the content of the Quicktime movies.
Example: I have a movie that was captured from my screen wherein I select various menu items. In Keynote, as the various menu items are selected in the movie, I have Keynote text and arrows pointing to the relevant areas of the movies. "Click File...", "...then Save As..." etc. Looks great when presented in Keynote.
When exported to Quicktime (full size, high quality, Sorensen Video 3) the timing gets worse as the movie progresses, to the point that at the end some of my timings are off by almost 10 seconds or more!
Any ideas why this happens? The export to Quicktime is happing on a dual-processor 2.7GHz G5 with 4GB RAM... should be more than adequate!

Cheers for that, Kyn. Funny, I spent about two hours reading through page-by-page all the forum topics to see what issues people were coming acorss BEFORE I posted. Don't know how I missed this one though! Guess I should try searching next time.

  • Varying the Slide Transition Time Interval in Slide Show with Music

I have this old iPhoto 4.0.3 version in my PowerBook. Is it possible to create a slide show that's put to music? More importantly, can the transition from slide to slide be varied (e.g., one slide changes after 4 seconds; the next slide changes after 10 seconds; the slide after changes after 6 seconds, etc.) or am I limited to one consistent slide transition interval? Do I need to upgrade to a newer version of iPhoto? Or do I need to use an entirely different application to do varying slide transition time intervals?
    Thank you.
    Michael

No, you can't vary the time interval in the same slide show.
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD, but they all have one thing in common: they reduce the quality of the photos to that of a movie still frame and sometimes limit the number of photos you can use.
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico: http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie 6 as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!

  • How can I increase the transition time between songs on my IPOD?  I do not want a fade.

How can I increase transition time between songs on my IPOD?  I do not want a fade.

If Crossfade is OFF, the fadeout is actually part of the recording, so you won't be able to change how it fades.
If you want to make the silence (gap) between songs longer, there is only one setting I know of that relates to the gap between songs, and it is in iTunes.
Do a Get Info on a song in iTunes (File -> Get Info OR Cmd-I from keyboard) and go to the Options tab in the Info window.  There is a setting called Part of gapless album.  If that checkbox is checked, the songs are played with no gap.
I don't know of any other setting in iTunes or the iPod that makes the gap between songs longer.

  • A Theme's Slide Transition Time

Is there a way to modify a theme's transition time in Imovie or is this automatically set.
From what I have been looking at I can modify my clips time from 5 seconds to whatever. But when I click on the clip using one of themes transition slides I can't find how I would change that time.
    Thanks,
    Kathy

Not entirely sure what you are asking. I think you are phrasing transitions incorrectly here. A transition occurs in-between two clips, or you can say that it starts (fade-in) ends (fade-out) or joins (cross-dissolve) clips together.
Themes on the other hand, are themselves independent clips. Once you define the theme elements by specifying the text and using photos in the drop zones, they are rendered as a stand alone clip. You can not re-edit them the way you would use "edit photo settings" for kenburns on a photo.
But if I am reading your post correctly, you want to change the duration of a theme element such as Road Trip's Open or the Bumper element? Correct?
The easiest way to do this, IMHO, is to use the Fast/Slow/Reverse f/x in the video f/x section. You can then slow down or speed up the theme to your liking and thereby give it a longer or shorter duration. This can be tedious however, since all you have is a slider bar for faster and slower and no real way to determine the exact length until it actaully renders. But you can always use the revert to original option (or undo command before it finishes rendering) and try again...and again...and again...till it is the precise length you want.
    Hope that helps.

  • IMovie '11, Unable to change individual transition times

I have a simple little video and I'm using cross disolves between clips.  I'm using iMovie '11 and I'm unable to change an indiviual transition's dissolve time.  I can only change all of them at once using the project properties.  That's not what I want, I just want the ending time.
    Help!  Thanks,
    Rich

I never understand why "new improved" versions of software omit all the stuff that worked so well in the previous version.
I used to blame Micro$erf for consistently doing that, now Apple's doing it. They streamlined Final Cut and it lost a few key things. Now here's iMovie and you can't adjust transition times? ***? Come on you code monkeys, if the stuff that's already there ain't broke, LEAVE IT ALONE!
And of course the old iMovie won't work on Mavericks.
    Pull it together you guys.

  • New workflow first time with InDesign and FH

I thought I would share my experience using FreeHand in an
InDesign CS2 workflow for the first time,
first a little history: I have almost exclusively used trusty
old FreeHand for 95% of my layout work for the last 10 years up
till now, only tackling the crappy old dinosaur that is Quark when
the job size just got too big for Freehand,
one of my regular annual jobs is to produce a 52 page full
colour catalogue for a local company, too big for FH and a real
pain in Quark, so this year I took the plunge and bought the Adobe
CS2 Design Suite with the intention of only using InDesign CS2 for
long format jobs like this catalogue and sticking with FH for my
    regular work.
Sorry folks but I have to tell you, I won't be using Freehand
for any of my layout work from now on, InDesign CS2 is no less than
Awesome!! I finished the whole job in record time, and due to the
great tools, honestly a better design.
just being able to use native photoshop psd files with
transparency directly in Layout is fantastic, not to mention
selectable hide and show layers from within the psd, I could go on
and on about the features that blew me away but many of you already
know about them, (nested style sheets anyone!?)
needless to say from now on I will only be using FreeHand to
produce my vector logo's etc, however if this is the situation then
there's a good case for learning Illustrator as .ai files can also
    be used natively in InDesign.
I still think FreeHand is a great all rounder, but I have to
say I now feel more confident that I could live without it if
that's the way the cookie crumbles!

Same experience for me and my coworkers. We use ID everyday
    and made a
smooth transition from Quark. Illustrator, on the other hand,
    is just
baffling and I wonder if that's a legacy of it being a much
    older
program. Photoshop, in some ways, has some difficult concepts
    to learn
but Adobe seems to have worked hard to make its tools easy to
    use
(reworking filters and layer styles for a couple of
    examples.) I wonder
if Illustrator just doesn't get the same kind of resources
    that
Photoshop and some of the other programs get.

  • How to avoid triggering of a workflow multiple times at the same time?

    Hello Workflow Gurus,
      This is the situation.
I have a Notify requisition creator workflow. This workflow is triggered only when a PO is completely released(this Po is created with respect to a purchase req). I have implemented multiple release strategy in my PO workflow. Meaning, if a PO is created for 5 million, 4 entries are created in the release strategy(P0, P2, P3 and P4). Some approvers have authorization to approve P0 and some have authorization to release P2 etc. Before an approver can release P4, P0, P2 and P3 shuould be approved first.
My problem is when a approver has auth to release both P3 and P4, and if he hits the SAVE button, it is completely released and  2 notify req workflows are being triggered. I use the release indicator = 'C' (completely released) to trigger thos notify req creator workflow. In this case both workflows are triggered at the same time and date. I somehow have to say if this is triggered at the same date and time, complete one workflow.
BTW, I am not using any user exit to trigger this. This notify req creator WF is triggering event is "RELEASED'. When pO is completely released, 'RELEASED' event gets triggered which caused the notify req creator WF trigger.
    How can I accomplish this?
    Thanks
    Rachana

    Hi Rachana,
Another way you could acheive this is to use start conditions for your workflow. You could specify that your workflow should get triggered only for release codes = XX or release strategy = XX, etc.. This way even after 1 stage of approval, when the approver clicks on SAVE, the release codes change and because there is start conditions in the workflow that would prevent another instance of the workflow from getting triggered.
For example, in your case, I presume PO, P1, P2, etc are your release codes.
You can have a start condition in your workflow wherein you specify that the workflow should get only triggered for release code = P2 [assuming release code P2 is always the 1st stage of approval]. So, once the approver for P2 has completed and Saved, since there is a start condition, there wouldnt be any other workflow instance started. By this way, any stages of approval wouldnt cause another workflow to initiate.
Hope this is what you have been looking for ?

  • How to use the SAP calendar in Workflow deadline time.

    Hi
I’m setting a deadline time (LatestEnd, LatestStart) as an expression for some tasks in several workflows, but there’s an issue when this time is reached on holiday or weekend because the deadline for the Workflow have to be moved to the next working day, does anybody knows how can I set it up without ABAP programming, just workflow tools or WF functions?.
I already made a function to make this calculation but I'd like to know if this can be done directly by SAP (workflow) standard.

  • How to change the transition time for a title in the new imovie

With the new update I have lost how to do a simple task.
I have titles in the lower left hand corner ine a video (pictured below). I would like for the titles to change seamlessly, without blinking after each new title appears. Sort of like a digital clock ticking. So say there's a video clip for each day in August, I want the date to change without blinking and re-appearing each time. This was easy in the past version of imovie. But I can't seem to find it in this version.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The red box indicates that I have attempted to merge the title into the title that comes after to see if it blends the transition, but it still blinks before showing the new title.
