Working with word bookmarks

hi ,
I have a word file ( all office versions) , which has bookmarks in it .
I open it from my application , take data from DW , and  fill each of those bookmarks by its name
I want  to scan the file and find all those bookmarks names before i do that ,
anyone knows how ?
thanks
Moshe

Moshe,
Try this code:
ii_count=oleword.ActiveDocument.Bookmarks.Count
for ii_bookmarks =1 to ii_count
ls_bookmark=oleword.ActiveDocument.bookmarks[ii_bookmarks].name
next
Thanks,

  • What is the best way to work with Word documents in The InDesign CS4???

    I work in Microsoft Word 2007 and all my documents have *.doc format.
    What is the best way to work with Word documents in InDesign CS4???
    David Blatner says to avoid copying and pasting text from Word instead of placing it (Ctrl+D).
    How about pasting RTF or Text Document???
    I want to make book's layout in ID CS4 and its main feature is that there is the left page with text and the right - with graphics.
    So, as I understand to place the text on each page I must create for example 70 Word documents and place each item on 70 left pages???
    It loks like wasting time. I sthere another way of making such layout???  What kind????

    It's best to place any text.
    You can have all of your text in one file and use auto-flow to add threaded text frames and pages as required (Hold down the Shift key when you click the loaded text cursor), but it's a little non-standard to have the thread only on one side of the spread from the auto-flow perspective, so you'll have to set up properly.
    This is one case where a master text frame will work to your advantage. On your master page spread, add a text frame to the left page, but not to the right (or at least not threaded to one on the right -- for some other project you might actually want two independent text threads). Hold the loaded cursor over a frame on the left side of a document page and auto-flow. ID will add new spreads as necessary, but only put the text on the left side.

  • Acrobat 9 is not working with Word 2010: why?

    I cannot get Acrobat 9 to make a PDF document from Word documents made with Word 2010, either by 'Creat from file' in Acrobat or by using Acrobat PDF Maker in Word. This has happened before when I first used Word 2001, but a later version of Acrobat solved that problem. Is the same sort of thing happening with Office 2010? If not, what can I do.

    print to the Adobe PDF printer if all else fails
    Thank you for that; it's nice to know that Acrobat will eventually work with Word 14, though not yet. I've tried printing with the Adobe PDF printer, and it doesn't use the proper fonts either, so I'd be better saving as a PDF document from Word. But perhaps I'll get better results with saving to PS first.
    Meanwhile, I'll treat Adobe's claim that with Acrobat 9 you can make PDF from any document with a large pinch of salt.

  • RoboHelp for Word installed from RoboHelp 10 won't work with Word 2010

    I have a Help project created in RoboHelp for Word 8.  I recently upgraded from Word 2007 to Word 2010 and discovered that RH8 for Word won't work with Word 2010.  So I purchased RoboHelp 10 and have installed RoboHelp for Word from it.  Alas, RH for Word STILL won't work with Word 2010.  When I try to open my project, I get this message:
    Before I bought RH10, I live-chatted with an Adobe sales person who assured me it was compatible with Word 2010.
    BTW, I tried to roll back to Word 2007, but I was getting weird behavior running Word, so I have reinstalled Word 2010 and want to stay there.
    Any ideas?

    I have just installed Rh10 for Word on a new machine and initially I got this message.
    I wonder if you have followed those instuctions? I changed the setting to Enable All.
    The other possibility is what do you have set for the default version? If it is 2007 and that no longer exists on your machine, then Rh will not be able to proceed. The dropdown should show 2010

  • Has it gotten easier to work with Word?

    Hi!
    I'm thinking about buying iWorks '08 but I don't know if I should wait until Office 2008 hits the stores. I have used Pages, but switched to Office 2004 because every time I got a .doc file I had to open it (if Pages could) save it as a Pages file if I needed to work on it and export it again when it was ready to be send back. This is not very smart if you share documents a lot which I do.
    So what I want to know is, can I in Pages '08 open a .doc/.docx and save it as that? I will I have to go through the annoying import - save - export thing again?
    Thanks

    Rune,
    Sorry to say that Pages 3 isn't any more adept at working with Word docs as previous versions of Pages were. You'll still have to export the file, rather than just saving it.

  • Best way to work with Word documents?

    Hi! New Mac user, bought a Mac Pro, tired of Windows many faults. I work a lot with texts, documents, and I'm used to Word. And working with colleagues in a Word world..
    What is the experience of compatibility? Is iWork functioning good enough for receiving, changing/editing and returning documents, or should one have Windows installed in parallell, with the original Word programme? And same question about presentations - PowerPoint versus/interchangeable with Keynote?

    OpenOffice 3.1
    Virtual environment for Windows, but I wouldn't touch Parallels. Fusion or Sun's VB.

  • Best way to work with Word documents on Mac?

    Just bought a Mac Pro, tired of the faults of MS/Windows. BUT I work a lot with Word documents, and have to keep doing so to interact with colleagues, I understand there are two possible ways - either install on my Mac also a Windows, and work in original Words, or use iWork.
    What is the experience - is iWork fully compatible with Words? Interface problems when sending/editing back and forth? Grateful for opinions and tips!

    I too was worried about Word docs when I transitioned over to Pages. I have not found any Word document so far that Pages could not open, that said, most of the time you will get a notice saying that some errors have occurred in the process. Most of these seem to be related to fonts, but if you have tables and spreadsheet segments, they can come out looking scrambled in Pages.
    I can't comment on the export of Word docs and how they open on PCs but I do know that the PDF exporter from Pages is great (so far).
    In fact Pages is great all around for simplicity, ease of use and dependability.
    iWork: <$100
    Office: >$350
    No Contest IMHO

  • CF9 working with Word documents???

    Hi, everyone.
    Yet one more question on top of the one's I've started.
    CF9: can it EASILY work with .doc(x) files??  I need to grab all content from Word files (including meta info and whatnot), insert into a CF variable/object, make minor changes, and then resave it as a .doc(x) file.
    How difficult would this be?
    Thank you,
    ^_^

    Okay.. didn't find what I was looking for on Ben's site (all I could find was the POI for Excel), but I did find something on Raymond's site.  getAllTheTexts.  But I'm not sure this will do what I need it to do.  I'll give it a shot and report back.

  • Has anyone successfully gotten Endnote X5 to work with Word 2011 on OS 10.7.5?

    I just get the error in Word that Word can't fire the event.  The Endnote toolbar does not show up in Word.

    Endnote sys that X5 is not compatible with Mountain Lion due to a "bug" in the OS and suggests buying their "new" Endnote X6. They also offered two workarounds so far that have not worked saying that it is Apples responsibility to fix this "bug". Their support replied to me as follows:
    Thank you for contacting Thomson Reuters Technical Support.
    EndNote X5 is not officially compatible with Mac 10.8. The issue that you face is due to a known bug in Mac 10.8.2 update for Apple's Mountain Lion operating system.
    If you would like to read a technical description of this underlying bug within Apple's 10.8.2 operating system update, the following blog post outlines the issue:
    http://brian-webster.tumblr.com/post/32830692042/a-workaround-for-aesendmessage- hanging-on-os-x-10-8-2
    For more information on EndNote’ compatibility please refer to the following link:
    http://help.thomson.com/default.asp?portalid=TSCINT&article=113230
    In order to work around this issue until the underlying problem is addressed by Apple, please follow the steps given below:
    1. Open your Activity Monitor. Activity Monitor is found inside a folder called "Utilities", which is inside your "Applications" folder.
    2. With the Activity Monitor running, choose "All Processes" from the "Show" drop-down and then sort the display by the "Process Name" column by clicking the column's label.
    3. After sorting this list by Process Name, look for a process called 'appleeventsd'. If you are able to find the appleeventsd process, highlight this entry and click "Quit Process".
    4. When you are prompted to confirm this action, press "Force Quit".
    5. Once appleeventsd has been reset by the Force Quit selection, switch back to EndNote to see if you're still experiencing slowness.
    6. Also try inserting citations in Word and see if you are getting any error message.
    As you mentioned, EndNote X6.0.2 update was released to address this issue. Since you have EndNote X5 you will not be able to install this patch for a permanent fix on this. And since you already own a previous version of EndNote, you will be entitled for an upgrade version of EndNote X6. These upgrade versions are priced lesser than the full versions. For EndNote X4 and X5 users, they will be entitled for a 30% discount on this upgrade price considering this bug. If you wish to avail this offer, please visit:http://endnote.com/buy/online and use the coupon code: techup.
    Please visit the following Knowledge Base article for more information:
    http://help.thomson.com/default.asp?portalid=TSC&article=123873
    If you wish to use EndNote X5 and if the tools are still missing in Word, please make sure that the Visual basic component for Microsoft Word 2011 is installed. Visual Basic is required for the use of EndNote X5 with Word 2011. If it is not installed, run a custom installation of Office 2011, selecting Visual Basic for Applications. This component of Office is mandatory for Cite While You Write tools to work.
    If the issue continues, it possible that the issue can happen if the Word documents Gallery is set to open. Please check to make sure this option is not checked in Word.
    1) In Word, go to the Word menu / Preferences / General.
    2) Uncheck the option labeled Open Word Documents Gallery when application opens.
    3) Press OK.
    4) Quit Word by going to Word menu / Quit Word.
    5) Open EndNote with your library.
    6) Open Word.
    This will get the EndNote toolbar appearing in Word. If the issue continues, it is possible that the EndNote Cite While You Write add-ins might be disabled in Word. Please follow the below steps to re-enable the tools as follows:
    a. Open a Word document.
    b. Go to "Tools > Templates and Add-Ins".
    c. You should see the below EndNote files listed under "Global Templates and Add-ins"
    EndNote CWYW Commands.dot
    EndNote CWYW Word 2011.bundle
    d. If any of these file(s) are unchecked, check it, and click OK.
    If the above files are not listed in "Global Templates and Add-ins", then I would recommend you to follow the steps given to check the Word Startup folder and set that in the Customizer:
    1. In Word, click the Word menu next to the apple and choose Preferences.
    2. Click File Locations.
    3. Click on Startup and then click Modify.
    4. Browse to Applications---Microsoft Office 2011---Office---Startup---Word. Click Choose. (Please note: For non English version of Word, the name of the Startup folder may be different. Please choose your closest language equivalent in this location).
    5. Click OK on the Preferences window.
    6. Close Word.
    7. Open EndNote and your library.
    8. Click on the EndNote menu next to the apple.
    9. Choose Customizer.
    10. Check the option for Cite While You Write. Click Next.
    11. Click Next and the process should complete----click “Done”.
    If the tools are still not present in the Tools menu of Word, please close Word then copy and paste the EndNote CWYW Word 2011.bundle file into your Word startup folder:
    Bundle file: Applications | EndNote X5 | Cite While You Write | EndNote CWYW Word 2011.bundle
    Word startup folder: Applications | Microsoft Office 2011 | Office | Startup | Word
    Close and reopen Word. Please check whether the EndNote tools appear in Word and that you are able to click on them.
    Once again I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. Please check if this helps in resolving your issue and kindly let me know if you need any further assistance.
    Based on the solution provided above, this case will be closed and no further action is required on your part. However, if this does not resolve your issue, please reply to this email and your case will be immediately reopened for additional support.

  • Robohelp 9 not working with Word 2010 on Windows 7

    I have installed Robohelp 9 on my Windows 7 machine that has MS Office 2010 already installed on it.
    I have installed the Robohelp 9.0.2 update. I start Robohelp 9 for Word and create a new Winhelp 4 project.
    I give it a name and click Finish. I get an error message that says "Robohelp can not open docx files in the current word version"
    I click OK and it launches the template in word and gives me a macro error that saya "Compile error in hidden module AutoOpen. This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, architecture of this application"
    When I close the Word document, I get an error about hidden module AutoClose. It's like there is something wrong with the template.
    NOTE: I previously had Robohelp 8 installed, but uninstalled and made sure that every occurence of robohelp.dot was gone.
    Shouldn't Robohelp 9 be creating a .dotx for Office 2010?
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks for any help,
    George

    Hi George,
    I note the line in your original post :-
    "NOTE: I previously had Robohelp 8 installed, but uninstalled and made sure that every occurence of robohelp.dot was gone."
    I think that is your problem.  You have deleted the Robohelp.DOT from the templates directory.  Although you are using Office 2010 or 2007  Robohelp still insists on using an Office 2003 or earlier format template in *.DOT format.  You need to have a Robohelp.dOT template for the program to work.  May I syggest a re-install, leave the robohelp.DOT in place as it is instaled and see what happens ?
    I posted an issue  A couple of weeks ago questioning why Robohelp does not use DOTX or DOTM format templates as per Office 2010 and Peter Grainge has asked adobe on my behalf... yet to see a reply.
    My issue related to potemntial incosistency in bult output (Corruption) and question whether that was caused bt the different formats of the template ie:- a 2003 format templat in documents saved in 2010 or 2007 format. As others have stated in the past word starts up in 'Compatribility' mode when using the *.DOT format template that I have found may be linked to some output and build issues ?
    Good luck.

  • Working with Word Documents in Oracle8iDB

    Hi, i'm trying to develop an application that save the text that I handle in Word Format and then save this file to my database. I already readed the documentation and tried some examples but I can't make it work. My Table name is TEXT with the following structure:
    ID NUMBER(8)
    DOCUMENT BLOB
    Anybody that can help me with the code to insert a Word document in the document field??
    Thanks
    Leo

    If what you want to do is to save your document as Word format and then store it in your database, there are two ways to do it.
    1. Use internet File System
    When you save your Word file, simply save it using internet File System. This might be the easiest way.
    2. Use SQL*Loader
    Read http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/products/intermedia/htdocs/avi_bulk_loading.html for more details.

  • Import tabular data not working with Word file

    The File-->Import-->Tabular Data feature works fine
    with a text file, but only puts in table tags
    (<table></table>) when I use a Word file (same data
    with same delimiter in both files).
    Any idea what's going on?

    You will not be able to use Import Tabular Data with a *.doc
    file - how
    would DW know what to import when you give it the entire
    document? You
    would need to use either a plain text file, as you have found
    out, or save a
    new document containing only the table, and import that.

  • Working with word arrays in a game

    In my spelling game, I have arrays of words that is added to a text field one at a time (through a loop). They are also split into letters so that the player can click on a corresponding letter tile to copy the word. The active letter would be 100% visible (alpha setting )and the other letters would be set to 80%.
    Splitting each word works well it you just want the entire word broken into individual letters, BUT I want my game to be phonics based - so sometimes the sound in a word will have more than one letter e.g. for the word "elephant" the array would be: activeWord:Array = ["e","l","e","ph","a","nt"] and there would of cause be letter tiles with the sound -ph- and -nt- on them to click on too.
    I guess this is where arrays within arrays gets the job done? I have 10 words per level and 30 levels. I will break each word into it's sounds and hardcode each word like I did elephant above.
    How do I rewrite the loop below to accomodate the 10 word loop within a level. After each level I want a score to appear with the option to click next for the next level.
    public var  wordsL1:Array = ["elephant","has","of","off","on","not","got","in","is","it"];
                    private var tf:TextField;
                    public var letterArray:LetterArray;
                    public var tileTimer = new Timer(500,384);
                    // ***constructor code
                    public function WordArray(_tf:TextField)
                        tf = _tf;
                        nextWordF();
                        //**Run letter Tiles Start**//
                        letterArray = new LetterArray();
                        addChild(letterArray);
                        tileTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, gameLoop);
                        tileTimer.start();
                        public function gameLoop(timerEvent:TimerEvent):void
                            trace("Tile Timer Started");
                            letterArray.gameLoop();
                        //**end**//
                    function nextWordF():void
                        if(wordsL1.length>0)
                            activeWordF();
                            populateMyWordBox();
                        else
                                //quiz is complete
                        private function activeWordF():void
                            activeWordArray = wordsL1.shift().split("");
                             // this array needs to be passed to the class that checks which letters are clicked (or used in this class if that's where the clicked letters are handled) so the clicked letters                               can be compared to activeWordArray's elements.
                            // when the clicked letters are completed for this word, call nextWordF().

    There's always a better way to do things but ultimately it comes down to if what you're doing works for your audience. If it does, the majority would say you did it correct. After you did it correctly you can spend time optimizing it however you like. If you get down to those specific questions be sure to provide a sample and some code that you think needs optimization and I'm sure we'll be able to help. You're welcome and good luck!

  • How can I work with Word users?

    Hi. Used to love love my old Apple. Then had to go to PC for work. Now I've got a new iMac and it is terrible. Main issue: I need to edit a person's word file, then send it back. How can I save it without it turning into Pages.

    Meantime, I exported my Pages file to Word and emailed it to client. Client received a Word file that was the ugly original file, with all my work not there. I went back to the Pages file, saved again then exported. Still the ugly original. So I changed the name of the Pages file and exported as Word. Text still the ugly original. I went to 'All my Files' and deleted the ugly original. Still Pages converted to Word and gave me the ugly one. What is going on?
    PS, I've looked at Office for iMac. What version would you recommend? Also, where does it tell me what sort of iMac I have - PPS or what? It's not on the paperwork. I bought it from Dick Smith about 6 weeks ago.
