Workitem in progress

Hi Expert,
I'm facing issue with one of the task where sometimes I click on the approval button to trigger the task. In the portal, there is no error prompt, and no error at R/3, but the task just hang, which means the workflow process stop at the task. There is no error at all.
Are there any report or program to make the task execute again?
Thanks.
Regards,
Henry

Hi,
In the portal, there is no error prompt, and no error at R/3, but the task just hang,
which means the workflow process stop at the task.
1) In the Workflow log it is showing INPROCESS right.
2) If yes, Check that Task
              a) Binding of the Task
              b) Method which you calling in the Task, Check the coding in the Method
3) Can you tell what message you getting in the workflow log.

  • Workflow runtime error because of terminating event

    Hi all,
In one of the workflow template, in one step, the Standard Task is having Terminating Event.
At the runtime, at the particular step, when it was in process, the terminating event is triggered. The step got completed,
But the workflow is not proceeding.
When I viewed the workflow log, In the perticular step after receiving the terminating event, the follwoing error is shown
" Workitem XXXXXX is locked by the user YYY(Enqueue error)".
The workitem number mentioned in the error is parent workitem number, not one of the particular step.
I know that there is a setting in SWU3 to schedule a job for errored out workitems. That job is already scheduled and it has tried two times and it stopped.
Now do I have to restart the workflow again or the issue can be resolved in the workitem in progress.
    Thanks,
    Sarayoodharan.K

the terminating event is triggered. The step got completed,

When I viewed the workflow log, In the perticular step after receiving the terminating event, the follwoing error is shown

Can you please let us know how you are trying to trigger the terminating event,I mean are you trying to trigger the terminating Programatically, then you might be using a FM to rasie the terminating event, by looking at the error it is clear that the event is triggered and the workitem got completed but the lock on the workitem is not released , you can release it by using the COMMIT WORK statement
You have to write the commit work statement after raising the even or make sure that someor the other way the commit work is executed, this is beacuse once the commit work statement is executed all Locks are released..

  • Workflow: Even if PO is released the log shows status as 'In Progress'

    Dear All,
I have created custom workflow for PO approval procedure. I have 3 step approval process and have specified same User ID as agent to all 3 levels. Now I am facing below issues in my workflow
    1) It is getting triggered twice, I have specified only one start condition as RELEASESTEPCREATED, why is this happening?
    2)  If I execute the workflow from SWBP for release, even after release of PO the step shows status as 'In Progress' in SWIA,   its not going to complete status. Hence not going to next step.
Please guide me on the above issues.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Aniket

If you are using standard Workflow WS20000075 on releasing the PO a notification workitem is ent to the Initiator which displays the PO. On executing this workitem the workflow instance get completed. This is a standard solution if you need to change it then copy it and customize it accordingly.

  • Workitem not getting deleted from SAP inbox

    Hi ,
I have a scenario in workflows , in which when a user creates a timesheet , a mail goes to approver , when the timesheet is approved the mail should get automatically deleted .
We have created a standard task for this purpose ( a copy of TS31000007)  .
The business Object is CATS , terminating event is COMPLETED , method is APPROVE . There is no triggereing event a FM is being used .
The standard task is copied in two test environments , from first system the mail gets automatically deleted , but from the second one it is not getting deleted .
Also the workflow log in SWEL doesnt show any rows in the second system .
In the first system , there are 4 steps  in the workflow log :
    Dialog work item created
    Background process started
    terminating event received
    work item processing complete
Though the workitem has deleted , but the status of the workflow is in Progress
while the second has only two steps in workflow log
    Dialog work item created
    Background process started
and the workflow status is "Ready"
I guess the terminating event in the second case is not getting received .
but ,I have  checked sweinst and found that the instance linkage is activated .
Also when the workitem is approved , it does not get delete , and if we try to re execute it again , the gives a msg " NO data found "
Can someone help me to find why the mail is stuck in the inbox and  correct this problem.
    Thanks
    Sheetal

Unless and until the Terminating event is triggered the workitem will not disappear. Check how the Event is getting triggered in other system. I feel it is getting triggered by standard means. Check whether there is proper settings in SWEHR3.
It means that you are not doing any special configuration for event triggering or coding. Please check what is missing in the system you are having problem.  Check SWU3 setting is fine or not.
<b>Please close thread when issue resolved</b>
    Thanks

  • You have too many sessions open. Please close one and execute the workitem.

    Hi all,
    I am new to Portal.
we have a SAP Inbox Iview that works fine, but the problem is when the user try to execute Purchase Requicition Approval, the error "You have too many sessions open. Please close one and execute the workitem." appears. What really bothers me is that the error appears as IE error message but the detail of the error looks like SAP.
    Your help will be appreciated.

That said, I would not be applying for any additional store cards if there is not a specific need for it. This is not the type of credit you want in your profile in the long run. With regard to closing them: I don't know how this will affect your UTIL as I am not aware of your other cards limits however there are many people that have closed these types of cards when they determined there was no use for them, they were not needed any more, they were not the type/quality of cards they wanted to have in the long run, and lastly the history of that card would remain on their report for 10 years. Some bare bones info and the affects of closing cards: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Closing-Credit-Cards/td-p/347190 All that said, while the above lists the math of it all, if you will, it does not speak to the aspect of quality. As you continue to grow, how do you want your profile to look to lenders? Do you want to have 10 low quality store cards won by the credit card trick with limits in the 1k range that you may never use and can't really use substantially anyway as your UTIL would go through the roof very quickly with a 1k limit or do you want a lower number of high quality cards with healthy limits that will continue to grow overtime if you show them the respect they deserve?

  • Most Service Requests are in a In Progress state??

I started looking through all our SR and about 80% of them are "In Progress". Some go back almost a year. Looks like the Completed and Closed links were greyed out so they just left them like that.
One user called me about today saying the Complete and Closed links were greyed out. I was able to force it to completion with the following PS command:
    cd    C:\program files\Microsoft System Center 2012\Service Manager\Powershell
    import-module .\System.Center.Service.Manager.psd1
    (get-scsmclass -name "System.WorkItem.ServiceRequest" | get-scsmclassinstance) | where {$_.ID -eq 'SR11157'} | %{ $_.Status = "Completed" ; $_ } | update-scsmclassinstance
What is the normal life cycle of a SR? I noticed on many of the SR's, the Activity tab is blank. Why would a SR stay in the "In Progress" state with the Completed and Close links greyed out. I checked the status on the workflows and did not see
    any errors.

all SRs should be created as new. The out of the box workflows will run and examine the activities.
if there are no activities, the status is set to Submitted, and the SR waits for an analyst to act upon it.
If there are activities, the status is set to In Progress, and the first activity is set to In Progress.
When an activity is added the SR workflows will again examine the SR. If the status is Submitted, and an activity was added, the SR will be set in progress, and the first activity will be set in progress
If the status is In Progress, and an activity was completed, the next activity will be set in progress. if it was the last activity was completed, the SR will be set completed.
If the status is In Progress, and an activity was Failed, the SR status will be set failed.
If the SR status is changed to Hold, then each activity will be set to hold.
an analyst can complete SRs that are in the Submitted status.
an analyst can close SRs that are in the completed status.

  • Update main workflow container from In-Progress Subworkflow

    Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to update a main workflow container element from a sub-workflow, while the sub-workflow is still running. (In-Progress)
I have tried using the FM SAP_WAPI_WRITE_CONTAINER in sub-workflow, but it returns an error saying "Cannot call WAPI interface 'SAP_WAPI_WRITE_CONTAINER' in this context".
I have also tried FM SWW_WI_CONTAINER_MODIFY, but it does not update at all.
I have also tried triggering an even in sub-workflow, which in turn triggers a class method, but it gives an errors saying "WF locked"
Please let me know if you have any other strategies.
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi,
what I can suggest you is try to create a program exit in the subworkflow  and in the program exit you can access the main workflow F wotkitem ID, by using thie main workflow workitem ID try to create the instance of the container. and from there in the program exit class you can set and get the values of the workflow container elements.
but here you have to make sure that you have to create the instance of the parent workitem ID  container, but  not the subworkflow workitem ID container.

  • Service Requests remain In Progress when all Activities are Completed

Hello Experts, we're periodically finding Service Requests remain In Progress, when all Activities within the SR are Completed.
Specifically this is happening when a RB Activity within the SR template has generated an Incident and attached it to the SR, and all of the Activities within the SR are Completed prior to the Incident being Closed.
Has anyone run into this situation?
Even if we had means to easily find this scenario in our system that would ease our pain -- is it possible to use PowerShell to return all Service Request's which are In Progress but have all child Activities marked as Completed?
    Thanks!

I've run into a couple of Service Request status issues. I'm convinced the SR status workflows are not as well designed as the other out of the box work item workflows. I've recently run into a problem with Service Requests failing to start (i.e. stuck forever
in New status) depending on how they were created, and Here's a similar script i used to address the SR's jumping to completed bug from early in 2012.
    import-module smlets
    #Variable Setups
    $SRCompleted = Get-SCSMEnumeration ServiceRequestStatusEnum.Completed$
    $SRCompletedID = $SRCompleted.id
    $SRInProgress = Get-SCSMEnumeration ServiceRequestStatusEnum.InProgress
    $ACCompleted = Get-SCSMEnumeration ActivityStatusEnum.Completed$
    $ACSkipped = Get-SCSMEnumeration ActivityStatusEnum.Skipped$
    $SRClass = Get-ScsmClass System.WorkItem.ServiceRequest$
    $ContainsActivity = get-scsmrelationshipclass System.WorkItemContainsActivity$
    $SRReset = $False
#Get SR in question (from workflow params)
    $SR = get-scsmobject -class $SRClass -filter "id -eq $ID"
    #Get all children relations.
    $ChildREls = Get-SCSMRelationshipObject -BySource $SR | ? {$_.relationshipid -eq $ContainsActivity.id -and $_.IsDeleted -eq $False}
#if there are children (don't reset SRs that don't have activities)
    if ($ChildRELs) {
    foreach ($childREL in $ChildRELs ){
    #Get Activity from child relation.
    $ChildAC = (get-scsmobject -Id $childREL.TargetObject.id)
    if (!($ChildAC.Status -eq $ACCompleted -or $ChildAC.Status -eq $ACSkipped -or $ChildAC.Skip -eq $True)) {
    $SRReset = $True
    if ($SRReset) { Set-SCSMObject $sr -Property Status -Value $SRInProgress }
the important part of that script is the bit where i'm walking each child and checking it's status. you could adapt this to your situation with some framing adjustments.

  • Regarding UWL workitems

    Hello Experts,
We have created Customer workflow in SRM system and was trying to approve the same via Enterprise Portal.
We have done all the required configurations and we are not getting the workitems waiting for approval in the UWL.
Unfortunately, tasks which are completed are visible in the Portal UWL.
When we tried previewing the standard UWL iView from Portal content we are able to see all the In Progress workitems.
The same is not visible in the UWL assigned to the Portal role.
We believe this should  be some sort of permission issue.
Any pointers in this regards is much appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Vivek

    Dear Santosh
Here's my answer to your questions
    1) For how many days workitems will be present in UWL if no action has been taken?
    90
    2) if we are having an option of increasing the no. of days where we can do it and what parameter we need to check?
    Check this post
    [UWL: Number of Items displayed;
    3) Any consequences if we are doing chages to the standard behaviour ?
Depends on what type of changes you're referring to. ;o)

  • UWL is not showing New and In Progress tasks

    Dear All,
We are facing a strange concern where the UWL is displaying all the below work items.
    Tasks forwarded to someone
    Tasks for Resubmission
    Completed Tasks
But not the New and In Progress tasks wherein the work items are already available in the user inbox.
The system details are SRM 7 with EHP 3 and the Netweaver portal is 7.30 SP 09
Please find the below screen shot for your reference.
And I would also like to update you that the below has already been tested.
1.) Check in SBWP - workflow inbox of the respective user wherein the work items are available already.
2.) In the SWI5 transaction code, the work items are in Ready status
3.) From Portal perspective, the webflow connector has been defined and it has got connected successfully.
4.) In the Webflow xml file, we are able to see the above highlighted task id which has already been defined.
With that, I am able to understand that if there is any action on the work item in SRM system, the same is getting replicated in UWL. Else it is not getting displayed in the UWL if there is no action been done on the work item.
Could you please check and advise if anyone has any other suggestions on the above. Thanks in advance for your help.
    Best Regards,
    Bharathi

    Dear Bharathi
I hope you are well and many thanks for using the SAP Discussion Forums .
Ok now based upon your scenario and the points you have highlighted there are a few important points to be highlighted.
Firstly we need to remember the concept through which the UWL Service functions and operates.
Ok with the UWL the normal behaviour follows the notion of the UWL Interface taking "5 Minutes"
for the tasks to actually load into the UWL upon intitial logon. The UWL works using two Pull operations. Firstly tasks are pulled from the backend into the UWL cache and they are pulled a second
time from the cache into the UWL User Interface. Due to this architecture there is an inherent delay in the automatic refreshes of the UWL. There is no way, in the current architecture that the UWL can refresh instantaneously. This is upon inital load as the cache must be built first upon logon so there will always be a delay. Real time refresh in the latest versions, is only when you complete a task.
Now with reference to your scenario you mentioned the following:
    Points of interest
    Tasks forwarded to someone
    Tasks for Resubmission
    Completed Tasks
"But not the New and In Progress tasks wherein the work items are already available in the user inbox."
Now from your analysis perspective you mentioned examining the following:
Checked in SBWP - workflow inbox of the respective user wherein the work items are available already.
In the SWI5 transaction code, the work items are in Ready status
From Portal perspective, the webflow connector has been defined and it has got connected successfully.
In the Webflow xml file, we are able to see the above highlighted task id which has already been defined.
Ok what I would you to do here is review and carefully cross reference your current UWL Destination Service Configuration setup as the smallest discrepancy (if any) can cause unpredictable and unexpected behaviour.
    - SAP Note: 1133821 - UWL Destination Service configuration
Check that after applying Note 1133821 the destination names and the UWL connector names exactly match, even considering case-sensitiveness. I mean if your portal system alias (=UWL connector name) is for example XYZCLNT100, then the rfc destination name should be exactly XYZCLNT100$WebFlowConnector. If that is not the case, please correct the rfc destination accordingly.
After you have checked/prepared the RFC destination for the future use please re-register that connector in the UWL config UI (Portal->System Administration->System Configuration->Universal Worklist) with which you would like to use this RFC destination.
Restart the UWL portal service as the followings: Portal -> System Administration -> Support -> Portal Runtime -> Application Console -> com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl -> Show -> in thecom.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.core.portal.UWLPortalService row press restart.
Re-create the connector in the config UI again and register the connector.
    Clear the UWL cache
Additionally kindly review the documentation below to ensure the optimal parameters are maintained for workitems being brought into the UWL.
KBA number: 1577547 UWL Performance Tips and Considerations
Also, you may want to take a look at our sizing guide that our colleagues colleagues in development support have written in relation to the UWL. You will find this if you go to: You can find the document under this path: www.service.sap.com/sizing > sizing guidelines ' SAP NetWeaver   > UWL Sizing guide
These are details that you need in order for the performance to be optimal in the Universal Worklist.  Please check through the documentation to see if your parameters are set accordingly and also that you have followed the information in this document.

SAP Note: 1886490 UWL does not show the most upto-date items after login
Kindly update me as per your findings.
I greatly appreciate your time and patience and I look forward to recieving your reply.

  • Leave request workitem in UWL status update issue

    Hello,
Once manager receives a workitem in their UWL for leave request, the status is NEW.
Now when manager click on that workitem..opens it and closes it without taking any action.
The status must change to "IN PROGRESS".
    This does not happen.
    Status remain as NEW.
We do not have any issue once Leave is approved or rejected. Workitem gets disappeared appropriately.
Please help me in resolving this issue.

    Hello Lukas,
    We are on EHP4.
And it uses Java based applications.
Now can you please check in you machine the very same scenario.
Instead of looking at the senders UWL, have a look at the managers UWL.
Where status is displayed as "New".
Open the workitem and close it withpout taking any action.
Then manually refresh your UWL and observe the status. Is it "New" or "In progress".
However we have just recieved a reply from SAP that it is a standard behaviour. And status would remain as New if no action is taken.
But still I am not convinced. As if you open that workitem from Backend Inbox. The status in UWL in portal changes to "In Progress" !
    Strange.

  • Runbook Activity stuck In Progress

    Greetings everyone,
I am currently fighting with a new Orchestrator 2012 R2 install with Service Manager 2012 R2.  Here is the current setup:
SCSM 2012 - Primary management servers with 3 secondary servers.  One of the secondaries is set just for Orchestrator
Orchestrator 2012:  3 Separate servers - Management Server, Runbook Server, and Web Server
The runbook books in question, run perfectly well from the Runbook Designer.  I created the runbook templates, applied to either a SR or IR template, and have the automate checkbox checked.  When I create the ticket through the SSP, the Runbook
Activity ticket says its in progress.  When I open up the associated RB workitem, it shows in the log that it has Successfully invoked the Runbook.  The problem is, the runbook does not start.
If I check the Orchestration Console and drill down to the runbook.  I can see the start time in there.  If I check the logs from the designer console, there is no reference to starting.
I verified the runbook is checked in.  Also, since i haven't found a good document on rights, I have the SCSM Workflow account, SCSM Service Account, Orch. Service Account, and connector account in the Orchestrator and SCSM Admin group.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Thank you Anders.  Stefan and your recommendations were spot on with the event log in the designer.  I didn't realize it, but my error selector was off on it.  There were multiple errors in there, all flagged when I attempted to launch the
    runbooks.  The error was:
Runbook 'RUNBOOK NAME' stopped: some of the Extensions are missing.
Which upon further research was the integration pack was missing from the runbook server.  When I stood this up in my lab, I had all pieces installed on one box and I didn't realize I skipped the RB server with the integration packs.
    Thank you both so much.

  • BWSP - Display Agent of Workflows in Progress

    Hi,
We are using the ITS service BWSP and we have a requirement to find who a workflow has been sent to when the workflow is in progress.  If an employee has sent submitted overtime for approval and workitem is awaiting approval, they want to know who the approval is sitting with so they can follow up with them.
In BWSP when you select Outbox > Started workflows and click on the workflow a screen is displayed showing a log of workflows steps with status and agent for each step.  Currently the Agent field is blank when the workflow is in progress and is only filled when the workflow has been completed, i.e., showing the person who did the approval.  In SBWP when you display this screen there is an Information link in the Agent field for workflows in progress which brings up a pop up window showing the Agent where the workflow currently resides.  Does anyone know if there is a way of outputting the Agent with whom the workflow is awaiting approval on BWSP service or if anyone else has had a similar requirement.
    Thanks,
