Workspace Provisioning

I recently upgraded my database from 10.0.2 to 10.0.3.
Since then I have been unable to create/provision new workspaces. I tracked it down to an error in the patch application process which I need to fix.
However, I am curious to know why the workspace provisioning process interacts with Oracle's Change Data Capture feature. Here's the Pl/SQL stack trace for the error

Varad,
It appears to be happening during dynamic execution of one of the following operations, when the sample application is being created and the objects used by the app are first cleaned up in case they already exist:
drop sequence demo_cust_seq
drop sequence demo_order_items_seq
drop sequence demo_ord_seq
drop sequence demo_prod_seq
drop sequence demo_users_seq
drop sequence demo_images_seq
delete from htmldb_application_files where id in ( <the images for the demo app> )
drop table demo_order_items
drop table demo_product_info
drop table demo_states
drop table demo_orders
drop table demo_customers
drop table demo_users
drop table demo_images
drop table demo_page_hierarchy
drop function custom_hash

  • Help understanding Workspace Provisioning error

    Hello,
I am getting the following error trying to provision a new workspace (Apex 3.2.1/10g) using an existing schema:
ORA-20001: error 30th ORA-24344: success with compilation error
    Error provisioning APX8668250WS.
The workspace was not created. Nothing helpful that I could find in the alert log, or the Apache logs. Not sure where else to look... all of the APEX objects in the database appear to be valid. Any thoughts?
    Lori

That helped. This view gave me the following error: "identifier 'DBMS_OBFUSCATION_TOOLKIT' must be declared".
    Thank You for your help!

  • How to permit multiple workspaces to access the same schema?

    Hello,
When creating a new workspace (version 3.2), I am getting the following warnings:
"Warning: The requested schema already exists. Warning: The requested schema is already assigned to one or more workspaces. Please ensure that giving multiple workspaces access to the same schema is permitted by the security policies at your site before approving this request."
How do I "ensure that giving multiple workspaces access to the same schema is permitted"?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of doing so?
    Thanks,
    Gabor

The correct answer to it would have been: I use manual provisioning.I didn't ask a detailed enough question. What I am wondering is how you are set up to to workspace provisioning at your site. In apex_admin, if you navigate to Home>Manage Service>Instance Settings there is a radio group like:
    Provisioning Status:
0 Manual - An administrator manually creates each workspace
0 Request - Link displayed on login page enabling users to request workspaces
0 Email Verification - Workspace created after email address is verified by the user
The help text for this is:
    Provisioning Status:
Determines how the process of provisioning (or creating) a workspace works for your development instance. Options include:
        * Manual - An Application Express administrator manually creates new workspaces and notifies the Workspace administrator of the login information.
        * Request - Users request workspaces directly in a self-service fashion. Selecting this option displays a link on the Login page enabling users to request a workspace. When a user requests a workspace, each request is submitted to a queue for approval.
        * Email Verification - Works similar to Request except each user receives an initial email containing a link. Clicking this link validates the user's email address before the request is processed.
Note: To enable users to request a workspace using a link on the Login page, you must choose Request or Email Verification. If you select Manual, no link appears on the login page. How is yours set up?
As to the first original question (How do I "ensure that giving multiple workspaces access to the same schema is permitted"?), I still do not know.Whether it is permitted or not is a decision made by the apex site administrator who approves/declines workspace requests. Whether it ought to be permitted is a different question and is really same as your second question which involves issues you said you are now starting to understand better. So I think we've covered your original questions. If not, please elaborate.
As to the last subject (How did the hidden workspace get created and how do I get rid of id? What happens if I don't?), this happened at work, so I can only tell you more on Monday (luckily...). Until then, here is what I remember. The work space was created, which is proven by the fact that when I want to create a new workspace with the same name, I am getting an error, which says that a workspace with that name already exists. However, I cannot delete the workspace, since it show up nowhere. No hidden workspace got created. I'm pretty sure the request is just in the queue waiting to be approved/declined. In the meantime a workspace with the same name cannot be requested.
By the way, how do you quote some text here? I just put a '>' in the first character position before the text to quote. You can also use the " rich text icon above the text pane.

  • Workspace name already exists

I created a workspace called DEVELOPMENT using HTLM DB's ADMIN user. At a later date the DEVELOPMENT workspace was deleted. I now want to recreate the workspace with the same name and get an "workspace name already exists" error. Using the Manage Workspaces option there is no entry for DEVELOPMENT. So my query is how come I get the error when there is no longer any record of the original workspace?
    Many thanks for any assistance,
    Ian

    Ian,
The service maintains a list of workspace provisioning requests, by workspace name. Even after a service (workspace) has been terminated or deleted, the request is still in a table. Try to view all requests (using a status LOV) on one of those service request or change request admin pages. You can adjust the status of a request and there's also a way to remove the request. After it's removed you should be able to create a workspace with the old name.
If you can't find the right page to do this, let us know and I'll get you the exact navigation steps to it.

  • Create Workspace together with applications

    Hi
    The Background:
    ===============
I get the Users, Roles and Rights from the OID. In the OID I have no mapping which Rights has a Role an which Roles has a User, because it is an object oriented system, where a user can have differnt rights on thousands of objects.
Therefore the "Satellite-Systems" which uses the OID have to make the mapping Users, Roles, Rights themselves. I have 3 differnt tables replicated from the OID with these informations.
    The goal:
    =========
If somebody is requesting a Workspace he should have an application automatically generated with the tables, where the Workspace-Administrator can make the individual mapping Users, Roles, Rights. There should be predefined generated mappings and Authorization Schemes.
    My Suggestion:
    ==============
I would generate a Schema with the tables replicated by the OID. There should be views (automatically generated) for every Workspace which is generated by the HTML DB Administrator. I would create a Mapping-Application where the Workspace Administrators can map Users, Roles and Rights individually. I would make some predefined Role/Right-Mappings and Authorization Schemes. Then I would export these application, authorization schemes and tables with rows and somehow generate it in every Workspace when a User is requesting a new Workspace
    My Question:
    ============
How can I generate an ready built application, with tables and rows and authorization schemes for every requested Workspace? Ideally I can choose, if this application should be generated in the new Workspace.
    Regards, Juergen

    Juergen,
I certainly don't have the whole answer for you right now. But you might find it useful to start by creating an application that has no components except the authorization schemes based on your authorization tables. Then, for each new workspace, import this application into the workspace using a new application ID. Each application created in the workspace would be expected to copy and subscribe to all the authorization schemes in this "authorization scheme repository" application. The application developers would also have to attach the authorization schemes to the appropriate application components.
Taking this a step further, you could create another application in your initial workspace that would be a starter application for developers to install in their new workspaces using a new application ID during each installation. This application would have the basic structure and shared components for developers to start out with. Then they would copy/subscribe to all the authorization schemes of the already installed "authorization scheme repository" application in their workspace.
I know this does not extend new workspace provisioning to include the automation that you might find desirable, but it's a start. Please advise if I'm missing your intent.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Combined date sorting with anychart (mm.yyyy)

    Hi there
    [apex 4.2, Oracle 11g]
I have a table in which I extract the year and the month and both in combination (from a date type). This is needed to summarize for example the year in a chart.
I need the combination of month and year because people could do a query which switches through years. For expample: From 02.2012 to 03.2013.
My problem is I dont know how to tell anychart to sort the dates.
    I have already tried:
    to_number(to_char(testdate,'YYYY')) as Year,
    to_number(to_char(testdate,'YYYY'))||to_number(to_char(testdate,'MM')) as MonthyearApex now sorts:
    20121,201212,20122
I would like that apex realizes to order:
    1.2012,2.2012,3.2012 .........01.2013,02.2013.03.2013
The report itself has now four date relating collums:
    1) Date (Type Date)
    2) Year (Type Number)
    3) Month (Type Number)
    4) Monthyear (Type varchar)
    Hope you can help.

    Hi Thorsten,
You might find it useful to refer to the 'Sample Database Application', which gets installed in your workspace as part of a workspace provisioning. Edit the application, and view the chart series query for the 'Sales by Category/Month' chart on pg 5, where you'll see how the representation of the DATE information has been handled, which uses the following query:
    select null,
           to_char(o.order_timestamp, 'MON RRRR') label,
           sum (decode(p.category,'Accessories',oi.quantity * oi.unit_price,0)) "Accessories"
    from demo_product_info p, demo_order_items oi, demo_orders o
    where oi.product_id = p.product_id
    and o.order_id = oi.order_id
group by to_char(o.order_timestamp, 'MON RRRR'), to_char(o.order_timestamp, 'RRRR MM')
order by to_char(o.order_timestamp, 'RRRR MM')You may want to try something similar in your query. Try it out in SQL Developer or SQL Workshop first, to verify the order of results.
BTW is it safe to assume that your other open thread has now been answered: Re: Select x-axis into chart ?

    Hilary

  • Why doesn’t the MOD/PLSQL do this?

When using database authentication the users of my htmlDB applications all have an actual Oracle Database account. The passwords are set to “Expire” every X number of days and all that stuff.
When one of my users lets their password expire instead of asking them to change it like SQLPlus does it just given them a page not available error.
Any idea how to get around this, while continuing to use database authentication?

    Hi Marco,
Are you trying to mean that in OracleXe database authentication is available with HTMLDB means u can create any user have sysdba priveleges as HTMLDB admin and any database user to work with HTMLDB without having any workspace provision for the user ?

    Frank,
I received your email with this same question so I'll just respond here. Our internet-facing hosted site apex.oracle.com allows you to request a workspace and, after the request is approved and the workspace provisioned, to develop applications there. If you already have an application that you need some help with, you can import/install it into your workspace on apex.oracle.com. This makes it easy to demonstrate problems to others who might be able to help.
Sometimes it will be necessary for you to create developer accounts in your workspace in order for others to use your Application Builder. You can post usernames/passwords here or you can convey those privately to those offering their services. In either case, you'd want to remove or disable those accounts as soon as the problem is resolved. For problems that I ask to see demonstrated on apex.oracle.com, it is not necessary for you to create an account for me. I can do that as our group runs the site. I just need to know your workspace name and application ID.

  • Role Access : SS Provision Report vs Workspace Security Extract

Is this normal, we are using EPM 11.1.2 Classic Metadata.
I Setup a user 123049, provisioned him HFM access to "Reserved" only.
I also add the same user to a native group called FM_Loc_Reviewer which has provision access to 7 Roles: Approve JE ,Consolidate,Create JE, Load Excel Data, Post JE, Reviewer 1 and Save System Report on Server.
When i extract security from workspace it has user, 123049 showing up with the combined provision of his id and the group he belongs to. Is this a te way it is suppose to be? In HFM 4.02 it would only show his access

  • Drop First Schema Provisioned from workspace

    Hi,
I have htmldb 1.6 (will upgrade soon :))
I am not able to delete the First Schema Provisioned.
I go in schema to workspace assignment and I do not see the delete button.
How can I change the First Schema Provisioned for a workspace ?
If I go in the Edit Workspace Information, I cannot select another swchema for the First Schema Provisioned. The list of values does not show the other schemas associated with the workspace.
    Thanks
    Francis.

    To answer my own questions...
    1. There are instance level settings for minimum (>= 100) and maximum application id. Judicious use of these settings along with the wwv_flow_utilities.minimum_free_flow API and manually deleting entries from apex_040200.wwv_flows_reserved until the packaged apps installer generates the desired id(s).
    2. This one appears to be hard-wired into APEX. Manually updating the first_schema_provisioned column in the apex_040200.wwv_flow_companies table to one of the other schemas associated with the workspace seems to do the trick. The installer picks this schema both as the parsing schema for the app as well as the schema to install all the supporting objects.
    Hope this helps someone else.

What I meant here is that the database structures were built in beta using datapump so tables for the demo application already existed when I first tried to provision the workspace. Since that first attempt I have dropped the demo tables and emptied the Recyclebin but I'm still getting the same error.
