WRE54G Verison 1 setup problems and conflicts accessing Router

I have been working on trying to get this range expander to work in my network for two days now.  This forum has been very helpful, but I still can not get the device to work.  I created a static IP address on my PC and was able to access the unit and configure it with the same SSID and channel (6) as my router.  I have updated the firmware to the latest version.  I am running 128 bit WEP and have configured the router and the range expander to the same encryption code.  I have tried setting the IP address of the range expander to 192.168.1.240 and 192.168.1.140.  My router's IP Address is set to 192.168.1.1 and the IP address range for the router is set to 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.149.
However, each time I turn on both the router and the range expander, the wireless card on my PC stops working and I get the Limited or No Connection message.  What I am a doing wrong??? -  this has been much harder than it needs to be!

After three days, I finally got this device working!
So no one else has to go through the problems I encountered, here are the specific things you must do to get this working.  Order of steps is VERY important!
TURN OFF ALL WEP SECURITY ON THE ROUTER BEFORE STARTING!  Security settings were a big source of my problems.  Security has to be turned on in a specific sequence.  More on that later!
Go to Linksys.com and get the latest firmware for the router and save it to the PC you are configuring the range expander from.
When you initially begin to set up the range expander, you must turn off your router.  The range expander will show up on your available wireless networks as Linksysxxxxx where the xxxxx is a random sequence of numbers and letters.
Plug in the range expander
If you have version 1 of the range expander, you will not have the convenient Ethernet cable port  for initial configuration.  Everything will have to be done via wireless connections.
Set your wireless card to have a static IP address of 192.168.1.200 and set the default gateway to 192.168.1.240.  This can be done in Network Connections, Properties, TCP/IP properties.
Open your available networks and make sure you connect to the SSID of the range expander.
Once you are connected to the network of the range expander, open your browser and type 192.168.1.240.  The setup screen for the range expander should appear.
Leave the user name blank and enter "admin" for the password (Linksys default).
UPLOAD the latest firmware to the range expander FIRST!  I believe it was off of the help tab on the range expander setup screen.
Change the SSID to the same SSID used by your router.
Make sure that the communication channel on the router and the range expander are set to the same number.  I used channel 6.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL SECURITY DISABLED AT THIS POINT!
Save your changes before exiting!
Unplug the access point.
On your PC, delete any references to your network SSID from your preferred networks list.  If you were using WEP before, this can cause problems with your connection.  Go to Network Conncetions, select your Wireless card, then right click on properties, click on the Wireless Networks tab at the top of the screen and then clear any references to your SSID from the preferred networks list.
Change your wireless card back to the mode of obtaining an IP address automatically.  (Change back your TCP/IP settings on the preference for the wireless card.)
Plug in the router.  Wait 30 seconds and plug in the access point again.  You should have blue lights on the range expander and see the bottom light blinking.  You are communicating with the router!
View the available networks on your PC and connect to your SSID – make sure it connects in unsecured mode.
Test browsing to make sure your connection is working.
Since the router and the range expander both have the same SSID, you can now access either the router or the range expander setup screens from your browser. TO re-enable WEP you MUST ENABLE SECURITY ON THE RANGE EXPANDER FIRST AND THEN ENABLE SECURITY ON THE ROUTER!  THE ORDER THAT YOU TURN ON SECURITY IS VERY IMPORTANT!  In your browser type 192.168.1.240 and enter the setup for the range expander.  Enable WEP and enter your pass code to generate the setting key.  Save the changes.  Then unplug the range expander.
Enter 192.168.1.1 for your router and access the setup screen for the router.  Enable WEP and set the encryption key on the router to match the key on the range expander, save your changes!  MAKE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN THE HEXADECIMAL SECURITY CODE GENERATED BY THE SOFTWARE.  You will need it in step 26.
Turn off your router.  The range expander should also still be unplugged.
On your PC go to your network card preferences and remove any references to your SSID in the preferred networks listing again (see step 16).
TURN ON THE ROUTER FIRST!
Wait 30 seconds then plug in the range expander.
On your PC view available wireless networks.  Select the SSID of your network.  The computer will ask you to enter the Hexadecimal security code twice.  Once you are done the PC should connect to the network and you should be up and running!  The PC will remember the hexadecimal code for the future.
GOOD LUCK!

  • WRE54G wireless extender problem with WRT600N wireless router

My Vista laptops work fine with the WRT600N router but not with the WRE54G extender. On the other hand my XP laptop works fine with the wireless extender so I know that both router and extender are working. Linksys tech support told me that the WRE54G is not compatible with the WRT600N, which is simply not true. With my XP laptop the signal goes from poor (5-10 Mbps) without the extender to excellent (54 Mbps) with the extender. Also, the lower blue light on the extender blinks indicating data transmission. I can access the setup page of the extender only with the XP laptop and wired desktop computers but not the Vista laptops. I suspect there is a Vista network setting that is the problem. I've turned off the firewall but to no avail. I've also switched between mixed mode and G-only, which made no difference. Anybody have any suggestions?

I have a secure wireless network (WPA). Perhaps my 4-5 year old XP laptop is the only laptop on the planet that works with the WRE54G-WRT600N combination. But I can assure all the doubters that this laptop categorically works flawlessly when I would otherwise be out of range without an extender. Good luck to spalaw. Please let me know if you are get your WRT160n to work with the WRE54G, especially you're able to connect with a Vista laptop.
    Hi
I am Afraid and wont be surprised if ya all people are nt able to use a N series Router with a G series Range Expander !
the Reasons is simple - N series is not BackWard Compatible as u check out the sources around. (Back Ward Compatible means compatible with the previous versions for its wireless Band , e:g - G band and B band.)
as far as my experience is concerned regarding the Range Expanders , me and my bud wasted a whole Week Configuring a WRT350N and WRE54G v3 , and it worked somehow on the seventh day  for an hour and Lost the connection again! Dayumm !
and we tried setting up with the same expander with WRT54GS v7.2 , it worked like a charm.
Conclusion : " WRE54G is a g series 2.4 Ghz expander which will work fine with all g series router though may not work with N Serious routers."
and if you really wish to Use something which can actually Extend the range for ur N routers signals , Better go for WAP4400N !!!!!!
And if someone still wish to run around , wanna try some tweaks (which i dont preferr )!
for WRT600N , just enable 2.4ghz band . as Range expander doesnt support 5 Mhz.
Use Only standard Channels . e.g : 1,9,3,11 .(No Wide and stuff.)
Try using WEP encryption first . (cause thats how we made WRT350N worked for a while. sighs)
At last , Wish u Luck.

  • Remote Delta link setup problem with Bean / Access Service

    Hello,
I am trying to setup Remote Delta Link (RDL) between two portals. (Both portals same version - EP 7.0 EHP1 SP 05 - are in the same domain)
I already have the Remote Role Assignment working without any issues.
The following have been done successfully:
    1. Same user repository has been setup for both the portals
    2. Setup trust between producer and consumer (SSO working fine)
    3. Producer added and registered succesfully on consumer
    4. Permissions setup on producer and consumer
    4. pcd_service user with required UME actions setup
I am able to see all the remote content in the Consumer portal.
When I try to copy the remote content and paste it as local content, I am getting the following error:
Could not create remote delta link to object 'page id'. Could not connect to the remote portal. The remote portal may be down, there may be a network problem, or your connection settings to the remote portal may be configured incorrectly.
After increasing the log severity, I am able to see the following in Default Trace:
com.sap.portal.fpn.transport.Trying to lookup access service (P4-RMI) for connecting to producer 'ess_int' with information: com.sap.portal.fpn.remote.AccessServiceInformation@31c92207[connectionURL=hostname.mycompany.com:50004, shouldUseSSL=false, RemoteName=AccessService]
    com.sap.portal.fpn.transport.Unable to lookup access service (P4-RMI) with information: com.sap.portal.fpn.remote.AccessServiceInformation@31c92207[connectionURL=hostname.mycompany.com:50004, shouldUseSSL=false, RemoteName=AccessService]
    AbstractAdvancedOperation.handleDirOperationException
    [EXCEPTION]
com.sap.portal.pcm.admin.exceptions.DirOperationFailedException: Could not retrieve the bean / access service to connect with producer
Could not retrieve the bean / access service to connect with producer
Like you can see above, there is some bean / access service which is not retrieved successfully. I am not sure if this is a permission problem on the consumer.
I have checked that the P4 ports are configured correctly (standard - not changed) and I am able to telnet from producer to consumer (and vice versa) on the P4 port.
I am stuck at this point and am not able to find any information on this.
I would really appreciate if some one can point me in the right direction.
    Thank you for reading.
    - Raj

    Hi Raj,
Please check your config of the P4 port on the producer.  Is it really 50004 (check SystemInfo of the producer)?
I do think there's a problem with the P4 communication since RDL requires P4 connection.
Do you have load balanced consumer-producer connection? Please refer to this blog for further details

  • Setup problem and now can't see time capsule

On Friday, I used Airport utility to set up Time Capsule. There was a choice saying "do you want to add on to or replace and existing router?", to which I said yes. at the end of the setup, Airport asked "Do you want to replace the existing router now?" and I said no because I don't want to replace it yet. That seemed to confuse Time Capsule.
On Monday, I disconnected the existing router and I tried to hook Time Capsule up to the DSL modem. Time Capsule didn't recognize the internet and my computer wouldn't recognize TC. Time Capsule is now not connected to anything (I reinstalled the old router and it is working fine). My computer can't see it an neither can Airport Utility. I tried to rescan but nothing comes up. Does anyone know what is wrong and how I fix it?

The only way to tell is remove the drive and test it.
I would do a reset of the TC first. Just hold in the reset button for about 7sec and wait for it to reboot. A reset will not do anything to your files. Then try again to access. If no luck the drive is probably dead. Either replace the whole TC under warranty.. or if you have no warranty left/drive contains valuable info, open up the TC.. plenty of sites explain how to upgrade to a bigger drive. just follow them. Put the drive into a USB carrier and plug it in or even better use it directly on sata port.

  • E61i worldmate problems and default access point

I cannot get Worldmate to connect without error. Worldmate support tell me to ensure that the "device default access point" is correct. However, I have not been able to find a global default access point setting anywhere, including the help doc!
Once into worldmate, you can apparently change your access point, but the first time it looks for a global default. So I cant even get in!
My phone is working fine with GPRS and WLAN, as long as the application allows me to select the access point.
Perhaps this is a change between e61 and e61i?
    Anybody have the same problem?

Both WorldMate and GolfPro2 workd when I first installed them. Now when I try to open them nothing happens.
I redownloaded WorldMate and re-installed, then both worked. After shutting down, neither work again.
How do you resolve this? Is it based on the access point?
    Glenn
The exact same thing happens to me when I install other programs, like Nokia Maps or 3D pool. When I install them and reboot, both worldmate and the new installed program doesn't work. This doesn't happen with other programs that I've installed so far, like Gmail or google maps.

  • Initial setup problems and beginner code questions ...please help?

    Hi,
Two days ago i started playing around with Java but it has been one pitfall after another for me. I am a visually impaired user, the fun started when i wanted to install the JDK. I think i got EE 5.0 by mistake, but that doesnt even bother me that much. The installer somehow managed to totally elude the screenreader I was using and I needed sighted help to get the thing installed. I think something went wrong with the environment variables during that process because when I first tried compiling a snippet of code it couldn't find Javac. I had to enter:
    c:\sun\sdk\jdk\bin\javac.exe c:\saluton.java
to get anything done. I have been trying to learn java using a three-year old copy of teach yourself Java in 24 hours, which might explain my following questions. Here is the code snippet i got from the first chapter:
    class Saluton {
    public static void main(string[] arguments) {
// my first Java program goes here
    String greeting = "Saluton mondo!";
    System.out.println(greeting);
This code didn't compile, complaining about Cannot find symbol.
I took out another book, Learning Java, and i got the following code out of this:
    public class HelloJava {
    public static void main( String[] args ) {
    System.out.println("Hello, Java!");
This code did compile, but when i tried:
c:/sun/sdk/jdk/bin/java.exe HelloJava it said the class couldn't be found. I am assuming this has to do with the .class file not being in the folder where it should be, but again I don't know.
I got the JAB (java access bridge) but I had the feeling the info that came with it is rather outdated ...could someone give me some insight on this as well?
Thanks very much for any help you all can provide,
    Florian

    Hi,
Using your help I've been able to find the error in the saluton mondo program, the caps of the String in the main function declaration was wrong. I have set my Path to the right setting now, and javac and java behave as they should now which is good.
What about my question about the access bridge? How do i use it, exactly? (just telling me where that info can be found is enough really) I'm really confused by all the different .jar files and such ...
Also, once it is installed do i need to somehow ...activate it or reference it in my code to make my apps readable? I would like to see if my program did what I wanted it to do so yeah ...
    Thanks for any help,
    Florian

  • Imac G5 startup problems - and cannot access leopard install dvd

My imac G5 (3 years old) has been running fine - until the other day when I updated to the latest version of leopard using software update (dunno if this is related) - anyway the thing slowed down the next day - freezing/hanging/spinning coloured ball etc.
Then it wouldn't restart - took forever - I have discovered if you leave it 2 hours it gets to a blue screen, another hour or so it gets to login screen but everything hangs - unable to use it for anything!
I have tried to reinstall from DVD leopard BUT the dvd gets spat out of the drive when i C on boot - I also tried an older OS X install DVD but it also gets spat out! I can boot into unbuntu from a CD and the HD is fine and there - it seems the superdrive since the upgrade is only recognising CD's!!!!
Anyway I phoned Apple - unable to help - out of Warranty!
I cannot reinstall Leopard, cannot use imac and haev no idea where to go next (having already tried the old PRAM reset, verbose mode (showing I/O errors but going nowhere), safe mode not working, boot from DVD unable to work. The frustrating thing is I could install UBUNTU and erase HD and the system woudl work on this OS but I really want to get into OS X again!
    Any help.....please.....?

If you used Software Update, you installed the Delta (only the latest update)version, not the Combo, which basically re-installs 10.5 up to and including the latest update.
If you can see the iMac on your PB, do install the Combo and see if that helps. Often it will fix problems that occur when data has been corrupted in a previous update and the Delta, since it only updates one step, but doesn't go back and start from scratch, can't correct the problems, but the Combo can.

  • Access List and Conflict Resolution Problem!

My configuration for Allow and Deny is not allowing me to load images and CSS files through the gateway on a URLScraper channel.
I'm trying to figure out how to control access to resources using the Access List service, and I'm running into trouble. The Sun ONE Portal Server, Secure Remote Access 6.0 Administrator's Guide (Doc 816-6421-10) states:
    Setting the Conflict Resolution Level
You can set the priority level for the dynamic attributes. If a user inherits multiple attribute templates, say from an organization and a role assignment, and there is a template conflict between the attributes in the two templates, the template with the highest priority is inherited. There are seven settings available ranging from Highest to Lowest.
See the Administration Guide, iPlanet Directory Server Access Management Edition for more details on conflict resolution.
Unfortunately the referenced Adminstration Guide for DSAME contains exactly 0 occurances of the word "conflict" in its 136 pages, so that reference was less than helpful. Chapter 17 of that document (Doc 816-5620-10) describes URL Policy Agent Attributes, which sheds some light on what the URL Deny and URL Allow settings mean. The key sentence is, "An empty Deny list will allow only those resources that are allowed by the Allow list."
So, I've set up my Access List services as follows:
o URL Deny is blank on all Access Lists
o URL Allow set as follows
    ---- isp
------- http://portal.acme.com/portal/* (company name changed to protect the guilty!)
    ---- acme.com organization
    ------- Conflict Resolution: Highest
    ------- http://portal.acme.com/portal/* (same as above)
---- Acme Customers Role - shared role for all Acme customers
    ------- Conflict Resolution: Medium
    ------- http://www.acme.com/*
    ------- http://support.acme.com/*
    ------- http://support2.acme.com/*
---- RoadRunner role - specific role for a specific customer
    ------- Conflict Resolution: Medium
    ------- http://roadrunnerinfo.acme.com/*
The Desktop services in each of the above two roles includes channels from the hosts in the URL Allow lists.
The behavior I'm seeing with this configuration is that the desktop channels include information from the scraped HTML, and the URLs are rewritten for the included images and CSS files and such. However, the gateway is denying access to the images referenced by the rewritten URL. That is, an image with a URL of https://portal.acme.com/http://roadrunnerinfo.acme.com/images/green.gif shows up as a broken image on the desktop. Attempting to access the URL to the image directly results in an "Access to this resource is denied !! Contact your administrator" error message.
If I set the conflict resolution on the acme.corp organization to Medium (or anything lower than the two role conflict resolution levels) results in the same error message as soon as the customer logs in (no desktop rendered). The same error occurs if I set the conflict resolution in the two roles to Highest (same as the top level organization), again with no desktop rendered on login.
If I put all the above referenced URLs in the acme.com organization Access List service, then I am successfully able to fetch all the resources (images, CSS, etc.) in the URLScraper HTML. Likewise if I put "*" in that Access List. However, this is less than ideal, as it would potentially allow other customers to view data that isn't theirs (Wile E. Coyote user should not be able to get to Road Runner data, and vice versa, and neither one of them should get at Acme private information!).
So, what am I doing wrong? Also, does anyone have any leads on where I can read up on how Access Lists and conflict resolution are supposed to work, since Sun neglected to include a valid reference in the Administrator's Guide, Portal Server 6.0 SRA?
    Thanks!
    -matt

Did you ever get anywhere with this. My experiments seem to inidicate that you cannot successfully combine Access and Deny directives, across roles or organizational defaults and a role.

  • Routing and Remote Access Server 2012 r2 Help

Hi all, I just setup a new 2012 R2 server with DHCP, DNS and Routing and Remote Access. When a user logs in to the VPN the DHCP is assigning the wrong IP address. My DHCP Scope is 10.0.10.100 to 10.0.10.199 but it's setting it to 169.254.X.X.
    How do I fix this.

169.254.x.x are APIPA addresses which are allocated when the guest cannot see the DHCP server/allocator. Basically there is something wrong with your RRAS setup.
You should never run a remote access server on a DC. It will give you all sorts of name resolution problems. As soon as a client connects, the server acquires an additional IP for the VPN connection and the DC is multihomed. That has been a problem
since NT days and still is.

  • Problems with WVC80N and remote access (TZO issue?)

I apologize for this "duplicate entry".  I'm a newbie and I think I posted the below in a "Reply" to another Post.  I'm learning.
I have a vacation home in the Sierras.  I wanted a way to remotely check on the snow in the driveway.  I have a Linsys WRT610N router that has been working for a year now.  I recently purchased a WCV80N camera and installed it two weeks ago.  I have SBC(ATT?)DSL service.  PC runs Windows XP.  I also subcribed to a plan with TZO for the remote monitoring.
While I was at the location of the camera, everything worked fine.  When I left and tried to access the camera, most of the time I got the error message about the connection failing because it had "timed out".  I could access the camera at odd hours, late night, weekend, etc.
I called TZO several times to describe the problem and each time they said: "are you at the location of the camera"!!  Duh!!  The rote answer was that it must be my problem.  I'm back at the Sierra home and I've asked a friend to log in remotely.  He has the same problem nearly all the time.  While I am here at the camera location  I can access the camera from the internal IP 192.xxx address.  Access via the TZO MyLinksyscam.com log in is sporadic.
I checked the System log and there are multiple entries for: "UPnP: Internal Gateway UPnP discovery failure.  Then the following:  DDNS: No need to update IP address.  And this goes on every 15 minutes, then the UPnP failure message.
Bottom line:  Does this sound like "my problem" or TZO's???

Sounds like you have the same problems that I had, but the problem is definitely not with TZO, it's your Router. Your Ports might be different than mine but this is what they told me to do:
think you need to open the ports for the cameras.
    Follow these steps.
    1) open the setup page of the camera IP 192.168.1.99. Click on 'Options' in the side panel. You will find ' Alternate Web Access Port '. If it is disabled then enable it enter the ' Port Number ' - 1024. Save the settings.
    2) Open the setup page of the Camera IP 192.168.1.89. Click on 'Options' in the side panel. You will find ' Alternate Web Access Port '. If it is disabled then enable it enter the ' Port Number ' - 1025. Save the settings.
    3) Now open the setup page of the router. Go to Applications and gaming. Click on Single port forwarding. If you have any applications there then delete all the applications or uncheck ' Enable'.
Now Go to Port Range triggering sub tab. If you have any application there then delete all the applications or uncheck 'Enable'. Go to DMZ sub tab and if it is enabled then Disable it.
    4) Click on Port range Forwarding sub tab. In the application name type ' camera1' . In start and end port type 1024, protocol - both and enter the IP address 192.168.1.99.  Check the box enable.
In second application type the name ' camera2'. In the start and end port enter 1025, Protocol - both and enter the IP address 192.168.1.89. Check the box enable. Save the settings.
    See if that works.

setup problem, windows xp, firefox upgrade to 4 and asked to reboot but did not progress. keeps asking to restart even if I try to remove

    Hi marsano,
Usually the only reason it will ask you to reboot is if there is a file that must be modified that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You should try running the Firefox program once as Administrator:
    * Right-click the icon and choose ''Run as Administrator''
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
    # Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/ Mozilla download page] and save the file to the desktop.
    # [[Uninstalling Firefox|Uninstall]] your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running the new installer.
    # Run installer
Remember that you don't want to remove personal data when uninstalling. That way you'll still have your personal information.
    Hopefully this helps!

My iPhone connects fine along with all of my other laptops etc. I have the router set with WPA-PSK [TKIP] security and an access list. I've confirmed the mac address is included on that list and that the password is correct. Under choses netwrok I select the network and it just goes into a spin. I have tried removing the password and the access list settings and it still will not complete the connection to the router thus no internet access. The routers firmware is also up to date. This thing worked fine before this update and I've already tried to restore from backup. Any ideas or is the wifi nic bad in this thing with the new apple firmware update? Any fix?

Thanks Bob, I don't know why but it all of a sudden worked a few days later. It's a mystery but at least problem solved.

  • Problems in Internet access in the middle being a modem and Linksys RV016

Good afternoon, I have another problem with Cisco Linksys RV016 Router, the router used to connect to ADSL Internet 3 links which these in turn give direct service to a server right now each of them, the idea is to connect the 3 modems LAN router and connect the server, this is no problem so far. The point is that here at my work people access to Remote Access Servers for Windows and VNC TightVNC or my servers with Linux (ask why not login at TeamViewer or LogMeIn, but it is another matter), the idea is to leave as they are, that everything is apparent and improve systems with load balancing (Router). The modem has ports open for remote access the 3389, are accessed without nigun problem, but when connecting the router and can not, I opened the same ports in Router and name and works.
Servers handle the no-ip.org for access and name resolution on DNS and so with that name assigned by the no-ip is where remote access from the Internet.
I do not know if you understand, but I hope someone help me with this.
In advance thank you very much and greetings.

Look, the first phase of my work to be done is to try a single server and it has Windows Server 2008, you explain:
    1. This ADSL modem connected directly to a single server (Windows).
    2. It is accessed without any problem by remotely from another network and / or from the Internet via remote access.
    3. The modem has port 3389 open to allow remote access from another network or Internet (up to here is my current scheme and there is no problem).
    4. Connect between the modem and Linksys RV016 router server.
    5. I open the same ports with the modem for remote access.
    6. If I have Internet server.
    7. Remote access is not working.
As time??? something can be done to solve this problem. The server as you mentioned earlier is running as a service no-ip.org for publication DNS name and not have to be constantly changing the IP by automatic changes made by the supplier (eg server name and for which so is taken from the internet: servidorwin.no-ip-org).
See if you explain me better.
    Thanks in advance and greetings.

  • IChat problem - is router the problem and can I do anything to solve it?

I am in Ireland at the moment visiting my family. We all have Macs - IBook G4, MacBook and mine is MacBook (new this August). I can use iChat (video etc) with my family back in the U.S. and with my brother-in-law who lives in Ireland. The problem is with a iBookG4, which my sister has. She has a Netopia router with Eircom (on DSL). We've been able to video conference with each other in the same house, but neither of us can do a video conference with anyone else, so we think that the problem is with the router. It is "Type 0X21" and has 12 VDC, 800mA - this is written on the backside of it. Not sure if that means anything, but I thought I would include it, just in case. Is there anything I can do via either computer to access the firewall(s) in the router that I could change? Or any other suggestions? I have already set the Quicktime speeds etc. like suggested in other forums. And as I can iChat very successfully from my brother-in-law's house, I guess the problem does not lie within my computer.
    Thanks - Geraldine

I was able to solve the problem. I contacted Eircom and the agent told me to set my firewall at "low" - and that helped for a while. I was able to video conference from my computer and my sister's. Then they both stopped working again. My husband did some research (not sure where) but he gave me some port numbers to add and that seemed to do the trick. Once in a while I cannot make a connection, but I think that is due to traffic on the DSL.
Just in case this might help some other Irish iChatter with Eircom and Netopia
here is what my husband found for me
Apple Menu ->System Preferences ->,from View Menu ->Sharing ->Firewall tab -> New ->Port ->Other ->Port Number (Range or Series Field) type in:
    5060, 5190, 5297, 5298, 5678
In the Description Field type in: iChat AV.
    Click OK.

  • Set value when a virtual, analog modem should answers in Server 2012 Routing and Remote Access

    Hi there,
I googled for hours on the following problem:
We have a Routing and Remote Access Server with an Dialogic Diva PRI card (30 lines). The card provides an analog, virtual modem pool. All this runs on Windows Server 2012 (without R2).
My problem is that the client will be connected after 3 or 4 rings on the line (I can not hear properly with our client device), but it should be connected after the first ring.
Under Server 2000 there was the possibility to set the value "NumberOfRings" in the registry and / or  set the modem to ATS0 = 1. Both ways do not work in Server 2012.
Can anyone tell me how it works under 2012?
    Thanks and regards
    Andre

I assume you followed Dialogic's instructions for configuring the device on Windows Server 2012.  It would most likely make more sense to contact Dialogic if you are having issues.  They support the product.  If it is not working according
to their configuration instructions, they are in the best position to be able to answer your questions.
