Lion server file sharing issue with windows API read/write ini file (GetPrivateProfileString)

Hello,
I try to config lion server as file server for a windows application we use at work. All other computers are windows 7 or XP, lion server is the only mac. I choose lion server because it's size, quality and personal love of apple products.
10.7.2 lion server's samba file sharing works almost perfectly with all my windows machines, I can copy, delete, modify any text files or office files without any issue, but the most important windows application for my business doesn't work with samba file sharing. After some digging, I found it is because windows program can't read or write INI file stored on lion share. Windows API GetPrivateProfileString always returns empty if the INI file is store on lion share.

I can open/edit the in file using any text editor without any problem. The only problem is with those windows APIs. ACL is turned on for my lion share and assigned "delete" rights to samba users.
I install samba3 on the same server; it works perfectly with windows API. My windows program also works. Looks like there is something wrong with lion server's sambax.
I'd prefer to use built-in samba even I have samba3 working. Built-in samba is very immature right now, but considered how young it is, I will give apple some time to make it mature.
Does anyone have same issue or knows how to fix it?

All the memory is fine. The server rarely if ever goes down when there are only around 10-12 users connected. When there are 20+ users connected and working heavily it goes down often. When I say working heavily, I mean they are transferring huge files to the SAN (100GB+), sometimes 5 at a time per user, and there are a bunch of others who are reading large video files at a minimum of 220MB/sec from the SAN.
Though this worked on Snow Leopard without any issues, Lion just doesn't seem to be able to handle it. The odd thing is, on Snow Leopard there was only a single 1GB ethernet connection to a NAS system, whereas with Lion we have a much more powerful machine with a 6-port 10GB ethernet card and a 4 lane 8GB fiber card to a true SAN. You would think that the newer scenario with Lion would handle far more users with ease.
So far, very disappointing with regards to Lion's file serving performance.

Write ini file not readable

Hi all,
I store configuration data in an ini file and give this file a custom extension.
If users open this file in a text editor I don't want it to be readable. Without encrypting the text how can I do this?
I cant seem to get the binary VIs to work. Maybe somebody could show me?

You haven't really defined how secure you want your data, but if you just want a simple way to hide the information from a casual user, this may work.
Obviously, if someone really wanted to, they could figure this out.

DignosticFile= setting in .ini file not working?

When editing Lookout.ini file in Lookout 6.1 and adding setting as follows:
[COM9]
DiagnosticFile=C:\com9.txt
or
[COM3]
DiagnosticFile=C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Lookout 6.1\com3.txt
No logs are created for the named COM port.
I know I used this feature sucessfully back in Lookout 4.5 and earlier, maybe even in Lookout 5.1.

You can configure this in Lookout. Go to Option->Serial ports, select COM9, check "Enable", input the diagnostic file path, "Accept".
Close Lookout, then open lookout.ini. You will see the following codes.
DiagnosticFileEnable=1
DiagnosticFile=c:\test.txt
DiagnosticAllHex=1
DiagnosticTimeStamp=1
DiagnosticTimeStampDateFormat=73
So, you need to add DiagnosticFileEnable=1 to make it active.
I'm not sure how it worked in Lookout 4.

Combining .part with .exe, by downloading an .exe file, doesnt work.

if i want do download an .exe file, combining .part with the .exe doesnt work because the .exe is opened in explorer.exe.
.exe cant be deleted, too.
I download the files to my desktop.
Every other filextension works perfectly.

Readers and Writers are for text. For binary data use InputStream and OutputStream.

Upgrade to 8.5 from 8.2 write ini file wipes ini

Hi I recently upgraded to labview 8.5 and when the code was converting everything seemed fine, but now everytime i run my simple VI to write to an ini file the inifile gets wiped! I cannot understand it.
The path on the fieldpoint cfp-2100 is c:\test.ini and it simply goes through a for loop to index all the ini names and values,
starts off by opening config data.vi, then goes into ta for loop and writes all the info, then jumps out and closes the config data.vi.
I'cant see why it still reads from the INI file fine at teh start of the program, but just this writing to the INI file throws a wobbler.

How to export/import prefs.js? Copying the file doesnt work

I want to export/import about:config changes. The paths is "Firefox/Profiles/i63866ho.default-1384517947097/prefs-js". I copied prefs.js, all the content of the folder "i63866ho.default-1384517947097" and "Profiles" folder also. Nothing worked. When I copied prefs.js it didnt do anything and comes back to the old/first prefs.js after restarting firefox. When I copy the folder it says it cannot be done.
Can someone help me?

I finally got the way, no need to change profiles.ini
I was as close as far from getting it. I was replacing Profiles folder when firefox was open. But firefox must be closed, I must copy all the content from the extrange named folder inside Profiles, replacing it for the content of the new one after restoring.
1. Set firefox with all changes on about:config, extensions, tabs, etc that I like, and then close it, cmd+q
2. Copy all content from the extrange folder in Profiles (something like niwxnm2h.default-1384723124135)
3. Open firefox and restore it, closing it again when it restarts.
4. Now, being firefox closed, replace the content from the new extrange folder by the old / copied.
5. Done, just start firefox.
So now I have two copies, with changes on about:config and with about:config and extensions.

Include File doesnt work with URLs

Hi guys,
Im using <jsp:include page="/topper.htm" flush="true"/> to include topper. Can i use the full URL ex <jsp:include page="http://www.hotelrooms2bid.com/topper.htm" flush="true"/>. Since the topper and footer will come from different Web Server, i have to use the full URL
the Full URK path is not working in this case.
pls help me.any inputs or ideas will be highly appreciated

You could use a servlet in your "path" attribute and have that servlet read and return the page from a different server; there are ways to do what you want, but <jsp:include> isn't one of them.

Import files doesnt work

At first I thought that after effects didnt support the . mts file. I converted the file and tried other files but no matter what the file it said "After Effects error: Can't import file "..............": unsupported filetype or extension

Reverse file Doesnt Work

After defining the file technology and connection details I tried to reverse the data from the file but nothing
happens and no error message is shown.The file is csv file and all the details were defined well.

How To Make mozilla.cfg, override.ini, all-companyname.js, Files To Work Once And For All For All Users

I'm currently trying to apply a fix to the firefox browser (version 23.0.1) on over 250 computers. Setting default webpages, disabling annoying prompts like the default browser and importing bookmarks, and erasing the history on shutdown, or startup. This is very easily done modifying the pref.js file, but I will not edit that file, it's out of the question. Another FF update will erase or overwrite all of my modifications.
I run a computer lab in the university that is locked down using a Net Support School console. You don't need to look that up. Basically all websites are restricted except the ones the ones I whitelist. The websites we use have extensive API's for JS, CSS, Java, PHP, etc... We utilize technology in order for students to use graphing calculators, video's, and taking module test from these white-listed websites, like Pearson, or Aleks. Now with that said, cookies, and stored profile history become a problem, and on some day's up to 25% of the students using the computers need their entire history deleted in order for a page to load. I think I fixed this problem permanently by whitelisting backend sites importing plugins, and API's etc, that I found from the developers console. Whatever. What I've learned from all of this is that Firefox can be very customizable utilizing the "...\Mozilla Firefox\mozilla.cfg" and the "...\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\prefs\all-companyname.js" (or custom.js) The problem, is no matter what I try I can't get these to work. Why is firefox making harder and harder for us to optimize it for massive deployments across a corporation and a university? I'm not going to do any fancy hacks to avoid the main issue. I've tried using, and not using, the automatic mozilla configurator. I've tried changing lockPref to pref. Nothing works. Not the override.ini, not the all-lmc.js, and not the mozilla.cfg. I've wasted hours reading through blogs of experts telling us to modify files that don't exist, or beating around the bush. I'm done researching. If you have the answer or want to help me figure this out just remember to keep it simple. Please. I ultimately want to package all the config files, with a how to, in a zip folder onto our shared drive. To have FF customized and ready to deploy to different departments across campus.

Thanks very much for your help, but I'm still overlooking something. I double checked to make sure that I did not have a hidden .txt file extention. I then decided to abandon the lock on preferences idea until I get it working. I converted my mozilla.cfg file back to plain text. I made sure I do not have an extra blank line at the end of each file. The syntax looks good, as far as I can tell. I'll copy and paste what I have so far. Did I have the file locations correct posted above? Also, if you feel i can delete some lines of text in my mozilla.cfg file I'll be happy to do so.

Labview ini file syntax

I have a ini file built into an application as a support file. When I did some changes on ini file, some change was reflected in executable file but some not. I suspect the syntax in ini file are not right so aren't recognized.
Besides, how ini file works? when I change the ini file, do I have to re-execute the application in order to getting the reflection in application? Or if the configuration is changed via the menu Tools->option in application, will they rewrite the ini file automatically? Do I have to stop the application in order to reading a changed ini file?
Where can I find a documentation about labview ini file as well as its syntax?

An .ini file is a standard file and is not something that is special to LabVIEW. LabVIEW itself uses an .ini file to store some application settings that you change via the Tools->Options menu. It is not wise to change this file yourself manually. You can create your own .ini files for your application. You can use the VIs in the Configration File VIs palette to read/write .ini files. This palette is a sub-palette from the File I/O palette.
As for its format, it's made up of sections and keys like this:

keyname=value
keyname=value
[Section2]
keyname=value
;this is a comment
If the value you're trying to save is a string you should use quotes.
What you store in the .ini file is up to you and how you use it is also up to you. You can access the keys on an as-needed basis, or you can read the keys in at the beginning of your program, store them someplace like a global variable and access them as needed. It's kind of dependent on the size and architecture of your application.

Xcode writting/reading file problem

file is clean, same thing with test2 variable.
in copied code opening mode is "w" but ive checked almost all options ofc including binary file modes (both doesnt work)
any suggestions?

} This is where you go wrong ... suppose you're reading, say 100 bytes instead of the maximum 1024;
you're still writing 1024 bytes instead of those 100 bytes; your 'bytcount' goes berzerk too. Have a
