Writing Import and FIle Format Plug-Ins for Photoshop CS1

Hi All,
I have written two plug-ins (Import and File Format) which work fine using CS2. Unfortunately we need to be able to have them work in CS1 too. I downed the "Adobe Photoshop CS SDK" but when when I looked at the API document ("Photoshop API Guide.pdf"), chapters 6 and 9 are missing and there is no sample code for these plug-in types.
Could anyone explain why this is?
How do I write these types of plug-in's for CS1?
Thanks for your Help
All the Best
Dave

I have published
GPL source code to many plugins all of which are compatible with Photoshop 3.0 through CS2, on Windows and Mac. Unless you are using CS2 specific features, the your Import and Format DLLs should already work with CS on Windows.
On the Mac, the executable format changed between CS and CS2, and you would need to build a PEF plugin for CS. MPW and CodeWarrior can do that; Xcode cannot.

  • How do I get Import and File Format Documentation

I requested access to the CS2 SDK spcifically requesting that I wanted to create an Import or File Format plug-in but the documentation and the sample code is missing for those kinds plug-in types. Where can I find the documentation that I need to develop these plug-ins? Thanks. Rich

You'll have to request that separately (or again). Contact your ASN rep and tell him/her that you need access to Format and Import info. You should be sent (pending approval) the "Advanced SDK" via e-mail.

  • File format plug-ins not working

I cannot get any of my file format plug-ins working with 5.1.  They were working fine with 5.0.  I am using some of the plug-ins here but none are working since I upgraded.

Is there anyway to check whether Photoshop has even recgonized these plug-ins?  There doesn't seem to be anyway to scroll in the about screen in photoshop to check there.

Thanks!  Ok, I'm getting "NO VERSION - 32-bit plug-in not supported in 64-bit" for those plug-ins.
    Is there any workaround?

I can't download the Adobe Edge Reflow. The file's downloading is successfull but the file doesn't go to my Creative Cloud so I can't install the programme. I have already install the Photoshop CC and the Reflow Plug-in for Photoshop.

    Hello
    1. I am running on Windows 8.1
    2. When running the installer file from https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/reflow I get the following choice
I click "OK" which doesn't do anything for me (CC is off).
I turn CC on and run the installer again. I get the following window that within few settings disappears:
Then - just for half a second it says "Launching Creative Cloud desktop" and then it brings CC to front, and that's all.
    RF still not there.
    3. I spoke ta support agent on the Adobe chat on Friday. He looked into my computer for an hour. Uninstalled After Effects (after failing to update it). For some reason all apps disappeared from the list. They then reappeared after he opened PS.
This morning After Effects is still showing up in my system and is operational.
    Weird.
    4. At the end the agent suggested maybe Firewall is the problem here. Trying that out now.

  • Installing Optional Plug-ins for Photoshop CS5

I have downloaded the Optional Plug-ins for Photoshop CS5 but when I double click on the zxp file I get a message:
"There is no application set to open the document “CS5 Optional Automate Plug-ins.zxp”.
I have tried selecting "choose application" in the same message window and navigating to Applications>Utilities>Adobe Installers but the only option there is greyed out.
I am using Mac OS 10.6.8.
    Any suggestions appreciated!

  • Microsoft HD Photo Plug-ins for Photoshop are Released

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hd_Photo
"HD Photo has been announced by Microsoft and the Joint Photographic Experts Group to be under consideration for a JPEG standard, tentatively titled JPEG XR.
"The HD Photo bitstream specification claims that "HD Photo offers image quality comparable to JPEG-2000 with computational and memory performance more closely comparable to JPEG", that it "delivers a lossy compressed image of better perceptive quality than JPEG at less than half the file size", and that "lossless compressed images are typically 2.5 times smaller than the original uncompressed data".

"HD Photo plug-ins for Adobe® Photoshop® CS2 and CS3 have been officially released for both Windows and OSX. They're available now from the Microsoft Download Center. [Links on this webpage]
"The Windows version is supported on Windows XP and Windows Vista, and works with Photoshop CS2 and CS3. While not officially supported, it will also work with limited features with older versions of Photoshop and with Photoshop Elements. The included README file has details.
For PSE6, I installed it to
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\HD Photo Plugin for Adobe Photoshop\
It works properly, as far as I can tell, for both Opening and Saving.
File size and processing speed seem consistent with the claims for the format.

Regular JPEG is capable of high definition (size) images.
The "HD" in "HD Photo" is a reference to the fact that the bit depth can
greatly exceed the 8-bit limitation of regular JPEG. That's primarily
of value in high-quality photo editing, and for archiving originals.

DVD player upconversion is no better than the upconversion built-in to
any decent HD TV; i.e., it's mostly just marketing hype.

I have a few Plug-ins for Photoshop CS, can I develop plug-ins for Photoshop Touch for Tablets?

  • Will 32 bits plug-ins for AE CS5 and  64 bits plug-ins for AE CS4 work ?

    Hi
I have a couple of queries  on plug-ins. Basically they are the same query
    a)      Will 32 bits plug –ins like Magic Bullet, Twixtor, Trapcodes, Boris etc work proplerly with  64 bits Adobe AE CS5 ?
    b)      Inversely, will 64 bits versions of plug –ins like Magic Bullet, Twixtor, Trapcodes, Boris etc work proplerly with  32 bits Adobe AE CS4 ?
Both the above on 64 bits computers.
    Thanks

    No and no.
    from "Plug-ins":
"Important: Because After Effects CS5 is a 64-bit application, only 64-bit plug-ins can run in After Effects CS5. Plug-ins created for previous, 32-bit versions of After Effects will not run in After Effects CS5. To inquire about availability of 64-bit versions of plug-ins, contact the plug-in vendor or provider."

  • Are photoshop file format plug-ins supported by the InDesign SDK?

If not, is it possible to read new file formats into InDesign? Thanks,
    Rob

I'm trying to import NITF image files. I already have a photoshop file format plugin that can read these images and was hoping that it could (somehow) be used to import images into InDesign as well. It appears as if this is definitely NOT possible.
My use case is that I'd like to read a NITF image into Photoshop. The images I deal with are typically single channel 16 bit images. I'd like to then use Photoshop to process the image (e.g., brighten certain parts of the histogram and/or crop the image). I'd then like an easy way to get the image into InDesign. My initial thought was to use a function that could just pass it over, but it appears as if that is not possible.
It looks like I'll either have to figure out if cutting/pasting is acceptable and, if not, save the image to disk and re-read it. Next I must find answers to these questions:
    a) Does the InDesign's SDK API provide the ability add to the list of supported image types that can be imported?
    b) Does InDesign's SDK API provide the ability to create new document save types?
    c) Does it make any sense to use a 16 bit/channel image in InDesign? I notice that it can read a 16 bit tiff file, but there doesn't appear to be any photoshop like controls to adjust the visible dynamic range.
Thank you all for your help!

  • Plug-ins for Photoshop Elements 8?

When I google for plug-ins, I get a bunch of plug-in sites, but will these work for PSE8?  Also, how do I intall the plug-ins?  Do I just have to move them to a different folder?  Sorry, I am new at this.

If you go to the following site you will get much of the information you need as well as some useful tools. Some of the downloads will also come will a plain text document with instructions on how to install plug-ins.

  • Possible to make plug-ins for Photoshop using Dreamweaver?

With the new cc 2014, I have been doing a little bit of research into how to structure a plugin for my workflow when I animate. I've been reviewing the cc 2014 sdk guide and I have been wondering if it is possible to use Dreamweaver cc 2014 a Photoshop cc 2014 extension for Photoshop since it's full support of html 5. In the guide it explains that almost anything you can do when making chromium extensions, you can do with Photoshop cc 2014 (or any other).
    Has anyone tried this?

Dreamweaver is web authoring software for creating HTML, CSS and other client-side and server-side code.
Photoshop is a totally separate graphics app for creating images, not code.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't see how you could use DW to build a PS plugin.

  • Minidv import and file format

I imported a minidv tape from camcorder. In the finder I see the files are .mov.  Should they be .dv? What's the best way to maintain original quality?
on the clip info it says under codec: DV/DVCPRO-NTSC , Linear PCM..
Note: Earlier today I imported another clip and that one shows also as .mov but under codec info it shows H.264. I guess I changed the settings (mayby transcoded at import).
Anyway, I really only want to do this once and the top priority is retaining best possible quality. I don't care if it takes up a lot of space. Happy to get another drive.
Finally, you guys keep all the events on a separate external drive? That seems reasonable to me. How about the projects? I'm not sure if they take up a lot of disc space as well. I was under the impression projects do not.
    Thanks

    Great!
    Thank you!
I already have some events and projects on the internal HDD. If I want to move it ALL to the external HDD is it still recommended to do that within FCP X (ather than moving the folders through the finder).
Also, if I import a lot of DV tapes (in full) is there any reason to also archive it for future needs. Seems that''s just a duplicate.
Finally, I am more familiar with iMovie 11 which really has all the editing capability I will need for my family videos. However, I'm trying out FCP X because of quality issues with minidv import in iMovie 11. I know this may seem strange to some, but is there a way to import minidv tapes to FCP X (o get the higher quality)and then work with those .mov files in the more familiar iMovie 11 or will I experience the same quality issues?
