Wrong sorting of events

I have several Events called ! Event 1 and ! Event 2 and so on...
(That these are on top when sorting via names).
No problem with iPhoto 09, but iPhoto 11 has wrong sorting, even when i sort it via names.
Some ! Event x are in the beginning, then some "normal" names without ! are in and then again some with ! ....

  • How to sort photo events by date and avoid having duplicated photos on iPhone 6+

How to sort photo events bby date and avoid having duplicated photos. Before the sorting by date worked perfectly by specifying "sort events by date ascending" in iPhoto from my Mac. Now the sorting from iPhoto has no more effect on the iPhones. And photos are often duplicated when synchronisin. Before these problems didn't happen. How to do?

You can not  --  neither automatically or manually - you should never be in the masters folder and there is never a need to be - iPhoto is a SQLite database and it's database structure is determined by it (and changes from time to time) - use the supported access methods (direct access to the photo files is not supported and never has been) - either using iPhoto or using the media browser in the lower left hand corner of every open/attach/iupload window
It is CRITICAL that you NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library using the finder or any program other than iPhoto

  • Problems with iPhoto sort of events.

In PC talk, I often nest folders within folders to better differentiate my images.  The lowest level of folder becomes an iPhoto event.  After loading into iPhoto, a sort of events includes all events independent of the next layer of folders not the events in the first folder then the events in the second folder.
How can I get iPhoto to pay attention to this nesting of folders within folders?

Create "folders" via the File ➙ New Folder menu.  Folders can contain other folders, albums, slideshows, books, cards, etc.  Albums can only contain photos.  Therefore you can generate something like this:

  • Smart Folder sorted by event titles

I have two smart albums which have very similar criterias. The only difference is that one includes pictures from overseas whereas the other doesn't.
However, viewing the two smart albums is a different experience altogether. The Overseas Smart Album doesn't sort the pictures in any way, whereas the other one sorts it by event title.
Both smart albums have the same preference for 'viewing': 'Sort by' is 'date, and the 'Event titles' can't be selected.
I would really like to view the smart album sorted by event titles. How do I do it? Why can I do it for one but not for the other?
Help appreciated! I have already tried lots of different options!

  • Wrong date on photos sorted by event title

I've modified the dates on some imported photos instructing iPhoto to modify the original as well.  The program successfully changes each photo's date and time.  But when I view my list of photos by event title the dates (for that particular event) don't display as having been modified.  Instead, the date of the event is the date that I was attempting to change.  When I open up the event to view the date of the photo it displays as the modified date which is exactly what I want.  It's only displays the incorrect date on the view by event title screen.  This just started happening to me after updating iPhoto to ver 9.1.3.  Is there a fix for this?

that has been reported - a work around is to flag the photos in the event and create a new event from flagged photos - it will be fine

  • "View- Sort Photos- By Title" produces WRONG sorting order!

    Hello,
I have a set of pictures named Scan 1.jpg, Scan 2.jpg, Scan 3.jpg, etc... up to Scan 102.jpg
They all belong to the same "Event" in iPhoto.
When I am inside that Event, I need them to be sorted by their name (Scan 1, Scan 2, Scan 3, etc).
So I choose the option: View->Sort Photos->By Title
However, that shows pictures in the wrong order, as follows: Scan 1, Scan 10, Scan 100, Scan 101, Scan 102, Scan 11, Scan 12, Scan 13, etc, Scan 19, Scan 2, Scan 20, Scan 21, Scan 21, etc... The logic is clear but it is wrong!
Finder recognizes the correct order of files, named in such way, so why doesn't iPhoto?!
Please suggest if you have any solutions OTHER than renaming the original files to Scan 001, Scan 002, etc. I assume that would work, but I really would hate to spend time on renaming. There must be an easier way. I am surprised that iPhoto makes this mistake in the first place - I remember coming across this issue during Windows Explorer times. When I switched to Mac it was a pleasant surprise that Finder understands in such situations that the order should be 1, 2 3, 4, 5 etc and not 1, 10, 100, 11, 110, 111, 12, etc. What a disappointment to bump into that bug in iPhoto! I hope there is a solution. Please advise!
    Thanks everyone in advance.

That's been an issue with several apps for a while. You can batch rename the titles in iPhoto using the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to Text menu option with the check box checked to add a sequential number to each photo.
You can always revert back to the original file name using the same menu option.

  • ICal time zone correct in month view, but wrong for individual events

I have my timezone set correctly to Pacific everywhere I know of (iCal upper right corner, iCloud account, computer, iPhone).
When I create an event (e.g. typing "6:30pm Work out" into a new event block), it shows up correctly (e.g. places itself at 6:30pm in monthly/weekly view).
However, when I click the event, in the details box it has the wrong timezone set (e.g. says that it's at 1:30am GMT).
This doesn't impact how things look in my calendar view, or how they sync to my iPhone and my Google calendars, all of that is fine.
What it DOES impact is that if I need to change the time, I have to go in and switch a bunch of things in invariably clumsy ways (e.g. change it to 7:30pm... oops, now it's tomorrow, switch its timezone to Pacific... shoot, now it's 9:30am, change back to 7:30pm...)
It's just annoying, and shouldn't be happening. Anyone know what is going on, and how to fix it? I've deleted the calendar cache, but it didn't help.

  • Wrong sort order for rapid sequences of images

When I have a sequence of shots taken at high speed, i.e. a number of them have the same timestamp, being taken within the same second, I find that LR displays some of them out of order. For instance, I have a sequence of 5 frames all with timestamp 9/4/07 2:17:32pm and the file names show up in this order - 1740, 1742, 1741, 1743, 1744 (these are the file names assigned by the camera)
The frames show in this order with any of the sort order options selected except, of course, File Name, and in that one instance they display in the correct order.
Is there a way I can specify in LR that I want to sort in Capture Time order then within that in file name order? This would give me the result I want. The reason I don't want to simply use file name order is that with images from different cameras with differing file naming conventions, or with file names I may have applied, that would not give me correct time sequence as shot. I want to see a whole day's images in correct time sequence regardless of file name.
If there is not a way to specify this in LR, should I add this to the Feature Request list?

Capture Time and Import Order do the same thing.
Additional information - I see the same wrong sequence is presented in the import dialog when I try to import the same photos again (they happen to still be on the card). So, I think it is initially caused by the order that the camera lays down the photos in the file structure on the card, or in the way that Windows reads them off the disk. (I have a Canon EOS 30D, SanDisk CF card, using a card reader rather than plugging the camera to the PC.)
If I use the import dialog's renaming process (in my test I chose filename - sequence) and apply a sequence number to the images the sequence number ends up wrong. So LR is importing the photos in the wrong order (may not be LR's fault?)
So, this modifies the definition of the problem and of the feature request. No longer is it simply the sort order displayed in the library; it needs to be addressed at import time as well.
Here is my attempt to redefine the feature request:
    - when importing images that are taken in rapid sequence (multiple shots within the same second) LR should allow for sorting the images by camera-derived file name to correct out-of-sequence delivery from the card/camera. This sort order, when selected, should re-arrange the preview thumbnails so the photographer can verify the images will be imported in the correct order.

  • Sorting of Events/Faces

    Hi All,
Here is my problem. I have all my events and faces synced to my iPhone (it's a replacement).
On my old iPhone when I went into photos the faces where listed after all the events. It now seems to be the other way round. This is mightly frustrating and has made me chose to remove all the faces from my iPhone (which isn't something I want to do)
Is there anyway to control the sorting option of this? I would like all the faces to be listed after my events, as I sort all my events by month taken, so my most recent pictures are always as the top of my photo list. I don't want to have to scroll through over 100 faces (yes I know... it's alot. I have almost 10,000 images on the iphone now!) to get to my events.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks,
    James

  • Thunar wrong sort order

Today after installing arch on my laptop i noticed that the sort order of my files and folders in thunar are wrong. I made a little test folder:
The order of the folders in the test folder don't change when I change the sort order but in other folders the sort order is reversed but the folders and files are not sorted.
Has someone the same Problem or a fix for it?

I don't really care if they are going to complain about it or not. My goal is to make them pay attention to this bug, because I think it is nicely forgotten.
This is open source, bro. You can't make anybody do anything, but you might encourage some admin to ban you if you willfully break rules. If you can't break open the source and fix the problem yourself (which is surely the most speedy solution!), you're better off following community procedures and being as helpful as possible. Otherwise you'll just be excluded and ignored.

  • IPhoto '11 -- manual sort of event photos is not available

    Hi,
When viewing an Event, for some reason, I am unable to drag and drop to sort the photos. View > Sort Photos shows Manually and Reset Manual Sort are grayed out.
I am able to do a manual sort of the Events themselves in the Events window, but when I open an Event and view the photos in that Event, I can't reorder them. I am reading the Help file, and I can't see why this isn't working.
Doing a manual sort in an Album works by dragging and dropping.
    Thanks for any help.
    John

That's correct. The manual sort applies only to the Events themselves, not their photos. Within an Event photos can be sorted by Date, Keyword, Title or Rating. Not manually. Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
If you want to sort the contents of an Event manually drag the Event into the Album section of the left hand pane to create an Album of that event. Then you can use a manual sort.

  • Sort all events in iphoto9

    Hi,
I have around 100+ events with thousands of pictures and would like to sort them. I would like to just have 20-30 events with the best pics from the many. Dump all the other pics in a single big event. How do I do this? I am not able to duplicate pics among events. Please let me know the best way to organize to import to Windows too. Btw, when I import to Windows, all the data on the photo, I mean event names, etc are not retained. How do I work around this?
    Thanks.

Thanks a lot for the inputs. But this is what I would like to do. Re-arrange the events
Generally the best way to operate is to leave events as the default simple organization and do your real organizing using albums, folders and keywords
and delete all unnecessary pictures (have 10,000+ pics)... thus organize events with few of the best pics.
Star ratings are the quickest and easiest way to select your best photos - you can delete low quality photos or hide them
I have backed up my system using TM. So, if I backup again, will the backup re-write everything in iphoto on my EHD?
Time Machine does a continual (hourly) backup and at anytime you can go back to any desired date/time - TM does not overwrite anything until it runs out of space and then starts eliminating the oldest information
Sorry for being so confusing... Aim is to have all these 10,000+ pics on my EHD and the best few pics (around 200-300) on my system... how I do achieve this?
I have no idea what you mean - do you have two iPhoto libraries that have different numbers of photos?
    2. About windows : If I connect my EHD to windows, this is what happens. All the package contents of iphoto are displayed.
As noted above iPhoto has NO cross platform capabilities - you can not use it in any way form windows except to export photos and use the exported ones - And the iPhoto library MUST be on a drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) - the PC can not read this format unless you have some special software so if you can use your EHD on both systems you probably are going to have problems with iPhoto on the Mac
The organization is lost. How do I copy the photos the same way they are organized in mac to windows?
As noted by TD - export them
I mean, if I have events named as A, B, C, and few albums as X,Y,Z.. how do I get the same organized set in windows?
Export each event into a folder with the event name

  • I can not sort My events in iPhoto on ipad

  • How to catching Clear-Sort button event?

Does any one know how to catch the event when user click the Clear-ALL-Sort button? I would like to do somthing in Java by catching this event.
    thanks in advance.
    John

I'm not really sure what you mean.
LIke, I want to use the three event listener functions like a global or static function for all of the buttons which I think I've done for the most part.
However, I'm having an issue with the current state of the button. Like...
    1 - on
    2 - off
    3 - off
    4 - off
    1 - off
    2 - on
    3 - off
    4 - off
    1 - off
    2 - off
    3 - on
    4 - off
    1 - off
    2 - off
    3 - off
    4 - on
Really redundant right? So I want to beable to pass something through the event listener functions somehow so I only have to right the listener section once instead of 4 times.
Know what I mean? If I was in an external document class structure I could just re-create my own event listener class to pass aonther property/parameter. But I don't know what I can do within AS3 internally in the Flash movie to do this.
Just seems likes there should be a relatively simple way to do this, but I'm not sure how many errors I'd have to wade through or if it's even possible.

  • IPhoto PIctures No Longer Sorted By Event

My AppleTV used to let me view Photos and select from 20 different sub-folders to play a particular event of pictures. (For example, in Photos, I'd see a sub-folder for 2005 Vacation which I could click on and view a slide show of just those pictures.) Now, I no longer can see any sub-folders so I have no control over what pictures I want to view. In iTunes, I have selected the option to View All Photos but manually selecting particular sub-folders doesn't help either.

I'm not sure what you mean by sub-folders, if you mean albums in nested folders then to my knowledge this has never been possible. AFAIK you have only been able to view albums, and since the latest software you have also been able to sync events.
