Wrong Xorg resolution+wicd error.

Hey fellas.
I'm kidna new in arch. I got my system up and running with kde 4.3
but yet I'm having a few issues.
1. The system doesn't detect the correct screen resolution. it's a 1280x800 screen toshiba laptop with intel X4500mhd.
I've tried tweaking xorg.conf. it didn't help much so I'm attaching xorg.conf
the system sets the resolution by default to 1024x768.
2. I configured wicd to start automatically with kde (was this the right way to do it? just adding it to the startup applications?) but yet, everytime the X starts the system asks me for a root password for wicd. even after i enter it the X throws a message that it can't connect to wicd's D-bus. how can these issues be solved?
Thanks!

Wow.
you people are fast.
Ashren - your solution solved the resolution problem. many thanks. I was sure that the intel driver is built in the kernel therefore no need to d/l it manually.
ludovico - I didn't know that wicd is a daemon. thought it just an application. so as you said I added it to rc.conf and now everything works great.
can you guys plz direct me to some good documentation? I hate asking stupid questions.
thanks!

a similar problem was reported at https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=667877
i really don't know what they are talking about with using 'nomodset' and i'm not even sure that it applies to my situation
hope thats enough info to get started on solving this problem

played around with the .xinitrc file for a while after i got home from work and was able to get fluxbox running.  i would say problem solved, but i guess there wasn't really  a problem after all, just lack of reading.
don't know how i overlooked the wiki documentation on .xinitrc found at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinitrc

Sorry, something went wrong --- I got an error message after a new webapp was built and a new site collection was created.
    This in SharePoint 2013 Farm.
    What should I do?
1- I did a DisableLoopBack and set the value to "1".
For hostname do I have to do : 111.111.111.111 (sample) and serversp2013?
P.S. I fixed this issue once, long time ago and I forgot how it ... be done.

    Hi,
For troubleshooting your issue, please take steps as below:

My iPhone is in recovery mode, But once it's done with the process a tab comes up saying there was something wrong restoring it (1015) error. Any suggestions of how I could fix this?

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.
    In other words:
The backup to which you're trying to restore was created with a lower or previos version of iOS than the one installed on your iPhone during the recovery.  If this is the case then you'll be unable to restore your phone with that backup and you'll have to set your iPhone up as new.  Or,
Your iPhone was/is jailbroken.  If this is the case, there is nothing anyone here or at Apple can do for you.

  • "Wrong process return code" Error which using OS Command

    Hi,
I want to execute a shell script in unix which calls a sed script and input to the script is an xml file. I am using OS Command tool to call the script which fails with "Wrong process return code" error. I ran the command directly on UNIX box and works fine but fails when executed through a package in ODI.
The command I am passing in OS Command window is as follows:
    /test/callSed.sh emp.xml
I also tried ODIOSCommand but getting the same error. The shell script has execute privileges for all users. Is there any other property to be set up for running shell scipts through ODI?
    Appreciate you response.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Thanks for a quick response.
I tried both the commands you sent. "sh ./test/callSed.sh emp.xml" threw Wrong process return code error and "./test/callSed.sh emp.xml" threw the following error:
java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "./test/callSed.sh": java.io.IOException: error=2, No such file or directory

  • Resolution to error - Unable to update Database Statistics

OK, If there's one thing i hate most about SAP, its the dreaded installation, I am always so paranoid, as to something will definitely go wrong,
Lately i realized that it aint my mind , but the damn installation itself is pretty damn stupid. Why cant SAP leave the installation packaging to professionals like installshield...
Unfortunately SAP doesnt think of it as a better idea, so until then lets try to resolve as many errors as possible thru these forums..
Here's one error resolution ,i am pretty sure, many are checking for..
Use the following procedure to resolve error
<b>Warning - "loading of sql client library oci.dll failed"
Error - Unable to update Database Statistics, Check BRCONNECT.log</b>
The problem seems to be with the SAP Patch Collection InstallMaster disc Material No.(<b>51032143_13</b>).
To resolve the problem, here's what needs to be done,
1)Install DB Instance as usual. Then after the installation errors out due to loading of sql
    client library oci.dll ..
2)I unsar the downloaded DBATOOLS.sar (Thanks for the Link Andreaz!!!)
log into sapnet (eg. service.sap.com) with your user-id/pwd:
-> downloads -> support packages and patches -> entry by application group -> additional
components -> sap kernel -> now chose either 32 or 64 bit; either unicode or non-unicode ->
sap kernel 6.40 -> windows server -> oracle -> download the package DBATOOLS Package for
Oracle 9.2.x ... brconnect is part of that package...
3)Copy the files in the Unsar'd package, as follows
         overwrite br*.exe to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run
         overwrite initSID.sap to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run &
    S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
         overwrite libsbt.dll to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run &
    S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
         overwrite sapdba_role.sql to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run &
    S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
    4) Retry the installation again & Guess what!! it works....
Warning-: I initially tried a shortcut by replacing DBATOOLS.sar on the installmaster disc, rather than following above steps, but that doesnt seem to work, the installation fails as as soon as Tablespace creation starts. So the shortcut aint a good one..

Well, it looks like you resolved your problem yourself.
you can send feedback to SAP directly instead of posting this here in a forum.

  • [SOLVED] Xorg resolution problems GTS 250 Nvidia

I have been using ubuntu for the last 3 days and i have no option to use anything but that because it is the only distro that accepts my t.v. resolution. i want to use arch as i have read alot about it but if i cannot get my resoution to work i cannot.
I have tried to use my xorg, conf file from ubuntu but with no luck. I don't know where to turn so i thought i would try my luck here. I have a Nvidia GTS 250 Graphics card and a Hitachi 42pd5200 plasma tv.

Going into nvidia-settings only displays 4:3 resolutions as options.
I have widened the horiz and vert refresh rates and it gives me a broader spectum of resolutions but they are all still 4:3. i have now reverted back to the default xorg file (the one i have provided) the log is also for the same xorg.conf.
I have also tried to add lines to the xorg.conf to ignore EDID as mentioned in the xorg wiki page

I have a LCD with bad EDID and had to use the ignore EDID stuff from the wiki, too.  Then it wouldn't give me all the resolutions I wanted. After increasing the verbosity that nvidia logged in the xorg log, I saw that because it was not pulling resolutions from the EDID, it was falling back to some lists of modes that nvidia had and xorg had, but this was not sufficient for what I wanted.
Sorta like how your log says "No valid modes for "1360x768_60_0+0+0"; removing" - you may tell it to try to use that resolution, but it doesn't have the modeline to do it.
So what I did was to give it the modelines I wanted and I think this will work for you too. Use an online modeline generator for you to get modelines to put into your xorg.conf.  So you need to give xorg a modeline named "1360x768_60_0" for it to use.

  • Wrong screen resolution

I know, this is a common problem, but after hours of googling and browsing Wiki and Forums I haven't fixed it. So...
I'm running the latest Arch + KDE on my new laptop, which has AMD graphics card and the display native resolution is 1366x768. But the system can't recognize it, so it runs at "default" configuration (1024*768) and I am not able to change it. It is a bit annoying, but I think I have tried almost everything. I have the open source ATI drivers installed. I have also MODULES="radeon" setting in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf.
First thing I tried was adding the resolution using xrandr. I did the --addmode and --newmode, but --output gave me this error : xrandr: Configure crtc 0 failed and after reboot, the added resolution disappeared from xrandr list, leaving "1024x768" as the only option.
I think I have some problems with the drivers than. What should I do to get them working properly ? Or is there any interference with VESA ? Even with the MODULES="radeon" setting ? Also, when I plug in an external 24" (1920x1080) monitor, still recognized just as "default" with 1024x768. I'm stuck. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

OK, installed succesfully. Now at least I get an output of lsmod | grep fglrx.

  • Xorg: Fatal server error, no screens found

Hi, I just installed Arch Linux 2010 fresh. And after my installation completed, I installed Xorg using pacman -Syu xorg-server and pacman -Syu xorg-xinit.
But when I run startx it gives me a fatal error that goes something like...
Fatal server error: no screens found
    xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X Server: connection refused
    xinit: server error
Take a look at this screenshot, to get the full picture..

  • Unable to access OWA or ECP. - "Something went wrong" or "500 unexpected error"

Our environment consist of 3 client access servers with 8 mailbox servers.  I recently installed windows updates on all of the servers.  Now when a user tries to access OWA it fails and says "Something went wrong" when I try to access
ECP I receive "500 unexpected error"
I have tried building a new CAS and mailbox servers with the default settings but it still fails.  I did not install the latest Windows updates on the new servers.  I tried creating new databases with new users and it also fails.

I opened a case with Microsoft.  After 3 days and over 15 hours on the phone they were able to resolve the problem.  They had to use ADSI edit to remove the canary data for the domain.
I tried rebuilding the virtual directories, building a new CAS server, a new mailbox server and a new server with both roles installed.  I created a new database and new users in that database and used the new CAS server but the problem continued which
led us to believe it was something being obtained from Active Directory.  We finally figured out the problem was in the properties of an object in ADSI.
You have to open the ADSI editor on the primary domain controller (start-->administrative tools-->ADSI edit), go to CN=Services --> CN=Microsoft Exchange --> CN=<Your Site Name>  Right click CN=Client Access and click properties.
Scroll down to msExchCanaryData0.  You have to click edit and copy the data from Data0, Data1 and Data2 (you may have more or less) to a notepad file.  Then erase the data from those settings.  Now log onto the CAS server and open IIS management.
Go to application pools and  right click MSExchangeOWAAppPool and click Recycling.  Then restart all of the mailbox servers.
It's a great idea to take a system state backup before performing these steps as editing ADSI data is risky.

  • How do I modify an Illy .eps to get rid of IDs 'effective resolution' preflight error?

    Hi there
We are running CS5.5 here, and have had an Illustrator .eps file supplied to us which is causing problems in InDesign, bring up the 'Effective resolution' error in the custom preflight (which we have set to 300pdi min.), and ID reports an effective resolution of 250dpi. The image is not scaled in ID – it's 100%. We get this a lot, and would like to totally stamp this out and find out what is going on here.
The Illustrator file has no raster images in it, either embedded or linked. There are raster effects like drop shadow and inner glow.
I opened the illy eps, selected all, and went to Effect>Document Raster Settings, and changed the resolution from 'High (300ppi)' to 'Other', and set it at 1200ppi. I also went to Edit>Transparency Flattener Presets, and made a copy of the 'High' setting, and changed the 'Gradient and Mesh' resolution to also 1200dpi. Complete overkill. I saved the .eps (and tried 'save as' .eps, ensuring again that the correct transparency setting was used).
However, the resulting images STILL displayed the pre-flight error in inDesign.
    What am I missing? HELP!!

Just did a test on this, and the Illustrator (for some reason) changed this in the .eps
    To this in the .ai.
Can't use that. Gotta go with .eps.
I tried selecting all, and going to 'Object>Flatten transparency', but it just made the .eps look like the .ai. And the problem still persisted anyway...
Is it safe just to ignore this ID warning? is it going to bounce back from the printers if I dont resolve it?

  • Wrong image resolution for TIF file

Under OSX 10.6.2, the image resolution using Preview application is wrong for FAX MultiPages TIFF files.
If I open up a file with this resolution:
    Image size: 1728 x 1081 pixels
    Image DPI: 204 x 98 pixels/inch
    Color Model: Gray.
The image always show up all squeezed vertically which tells me the Preview application is not processing the DPI properly. When using the size menu from tools, it assumes the resolution is the same for vertical and horizontal which is wrong.
I'm unable to use the Preview application to read FAX TIFF files with the standard FAX resolution.
How do I open up a trouble ticket with Apple developers to fix this issue? I believe it's a software design issue assuming that all TIFF files use the same resolution for both horizontal and vertical DPI. The Preview application should be able to handle different DPI for horizontal and vertical resolution.
We're a small business and we are running the whole office with Mac Minis and iMac with a Mac Mini Server of course. We love it, but we have this annoying bug which I don't have any way to fix it.
    Thank you,
    Stephan Monette
    Unlimitel Inc.

Here's a sample of the tif file from our fax machine you can download:
    http://www.hmnet.net/warp2/fax-standard.tif
Download the file on your desktop and try opening it. You will see the square at the bottom will look like a rectangle. With the right resolution, it should look like a square, not a rectangle.
If I open the file with Windows picture and fax viewer, the resolution is fine and the square looks like a square. But the same file on Windows with Quicktime fails to open and it complains about a corrupted file.
On my MAC, the file opens with Preview, but the resolution is wrong.
Maybe the FAX server is not formatting the TIFF file properly, but we can't fix that since there's no more support for it. But the Windows app is able to open it up with the right resolution. So maybe it's just some code change to do in the Preview app.
    Thanks,
    Stephan Monette
