WRP 400 cisco vs linksys

Are there any difference between Linksys WRP 400 and Cisco WRP 400?
We used to sell Linksys WRP 400 to our customers, because it had a well working Voip part.
But we had too many support issues with the router part, and thus we stopped selling the product.
Now I see that WRP 400 is still sold, now my question is has the stability of the product improved?
Secondly, is it stil possible to load cisco firmware into the old Linksys boxes, and will this improve stability?

Hi, the Cisco WRP400 and Linksys WRP400 are the same thing.
Cisco has simply renamed some Linksys products.
You can load the last 2.00.32 firmware. Some bugs were fixed and the stability was partially improved: in this firmware you can schedule a daily or weekly reload of voice module.
My suggestion is evaluate the last firmware on few customers for 2 or months.

  • Cisco or Linksys DSL router that will work with Windows XP Pro?

Any suggestions for a CISCO or LINKSYS DSL router to replace a Zyxel (Century Link) PK5001Z? System is Windows XP Pro, 20 wireless and wired devices connected (including 6 CISCO WVC210 IP cameras ). The Zyxel forwards as many ports as I want, but will only open a limited number of the ports. This limits my access thru the internet (local network sees all cameras). Zyxel support is unable to help.

Hi Edward, if you're looking for a modem/router combo device, Cisco offers the SRP500 series. However this product is EOS/EOL. The small business product line does not have any other DSL termination router aside the SRP series. If your goal is to use a DSL modem and then have a router, you may want to consider RV325 router as it is very feature rich and quite robust.

  • Cisco and Linksys products mixed environment

    Hello All,
Before I ask my question, I would like to know if it's OK to ask questions regarding both Cisco and Linksys products in this forum, or if this forum is just for Cisco OR Linksys? I just want to make sure before I ask my question.
The devices we are talking about are UC520, Catalyst Express 520 Switch, and 2 Linksys SRW224P Switches.
    Thank you!

Thanks for your response, I can now describe my problem....
We are using the UC520 as a PBX System, VPN Server, and what-have-you. On the expansion port, we connected the CE520 Switch, and we have many phones, and some other devices connected to it. Now, on ports 5 and 6 of the UC520, we connected the 2 Linksys Switches we've had for a couple of years now. Anyway, on these switches we have a few computers connected, but what I am having problems is 8 IP Cameras (PVC2300 also by Linksys). What we wanted to do was to create a new VLAN (2) on the UC520 to house these IP Cameras (all of which have static IP addresses in the subnet 192.168.0.1/24). We need the office manager's laptop to be able to see the cameras, but this laptop is in VLAN 1 (192.168.10.1/24). I opened up at  case with TAC and they helped me create the VLAN and all this, and now they said it should all be working OK, except it's not, and they said it has to do with the Linksys switches (which they can't provide support for). I am not a networking wizard, I consider myself a very basic IT guy when it comes to this, so I am not sure what I'm supposed to do on the switches to have them communicate correctly with the UC520 and VLAN 1 and 2. Right now, the computers connected to the Linksys Switches are actually in VLAN 1, and can access the IP Phones Web GUI, so I don't know why this new VLAN is not visible by the Data VLAN.
I hope I am clear, and if you have any questions I will be glad to answer them.
    Thanks for any help provided!!
Our topology is something like this:
CE520 on Expansion port ------ Mostly phones and a few computers
                   |
                   |
    Internet---UC520 ----- SRW224P Switch on UC520 port 5 ------ IP Cameras and a bunch of computer/network devices
                   |

SRW224P Switch on UC520 port 6 -------- IP Cameras and a couple of computers

  • Cisco 2960 / Linksys SRW2008P - Radius dynamic vlan authentication

    Hi all,
I am planning on purchasing a Linksys SRW2008P before I buy it I want to know if it has these features.
This is how my test lab is setup.
    Laptop -> Linksys SRW2008 -> Cisco 2960 -> Linksys WRVS4400N -> Internet
My Cisco 2960 is going act as the "Distribution Switch" in my Lab. It's main purpose is to implment Radius 802.1X dynamic VLAN(s)
The Linksys WRV2008 will act as an "Access Switch" the main features I would like to know is if it can support 802.1X dynamic VLAN(s) propagated from the Linksys 2960.
For exmple: I am going to setup all my VLAN's on the 2960 and I want them to replicate to my SRW 2008 (like VTP). Whoever plugs into a port on the SRW will be authenticated via RADIUS and RADIUS will authenticate the port and send the VLAN information.
I searched throughout the forms and from what I see is that Linksys switches do not support Dynamic VLAN(s) but I want to double check
The reason why I am doing this is because I want 802.1X authentication throughout my small office but the problem is some offices have 1 Port with 2 users and a printer. I want both users to authenticate via 802.1X and avoid trying to buy a 2960 8 port switch for 500$ just for 2 users.
If anybody has any suggestions or past experiences with a situation similiar to mine that would be great!
    Cheers

HI.  I have read a previous post that can confirm if Linksys switches support dynamic vlans.  Check out the link below.

  • Cisco or Linksys ATA with FXO & FSX

    Hi,
I use a Cisco router for my internet connection, it is capable of QOS therefore all I want is a Cisco/Linksys ATA with 3 ports, 1 FXS, 1 FXO and an ethernet... is there such a device?
I have looked into the Linksys SPA3102 but it has a router built in and I don't think you can hairpin on the ethernet port. The WAN and LAN ports on this device must also be on disparate subnets.
    Any advice?
    Thanks in advance!!

  • Firmware for wrp 400 voip router

the wps of this router cannot be disabled even though there is an option in the software to disable this.  I read somewhere in the forum that cisco is coming out with a firmware to disable the wps.  Please advise when this is coming in.
I disabled the wps in the software and enabled the manual configure.  But with my new laptop which has wps, keeps asking for password for the router.   I have already created a ssid and wpa personal tkip in my router but the laptop requires the WPS password of the cisco wrp400 router.
    any help is appreciated.

Best if you get in touch with the Cisco SBSC and rasie a ticket.  if a Beta Firmware is available then they can let you have it if it exists and resolves an issue for you.

  • Cisco E2500 (Linksys) configured as Bridge works then fails

I've set up the E2500 at one end of the house with a wire connection from my router at the other end of the house.  It's plugged into a LAN port.  After a system reset and configuration of SSID, password, etc., I set it to Bridge mode.   It works for awhile and gets DHCP from the main router (192.168.1.254)  then 5-10 minutes later the device reverts to using 192.168.1.1 as both router IP and DNS IP and stops working.  At that point, I can no longer access setup info using 192.168.1.1 as a URL.
What is causing this?  IP conflict?
There's not much to configure once Bridge mode is selected so I can't figure what's failing.

  • Linksys Switches/Routers that support CISCO IP SLA Responder feature

Hi there, I'm looking for a Linksys Switch or Router that does support Cisco IP SLA Responder, this allows for measuring one way delay, etc.
I'd appreciate if somebody can help me identifying a Linksys device supporting this.
    Thanks!
    From Cisco website:
"...Cisco IOS IP SLA Responder is a Cisco IOS Software component whose functionality is to respond to Cisco IOS IP SLA request packets....Some of the newer Linksys devices also support this feature...."

Cisco sold Linksys to Belkin quite a while ago. Linksys business products are typically for the SMB market.
For the SLA feature you are asking about I have used the Cisco 1921.

  • Cisco Network Assistant, and Linksys Switches?

    Hi all,
Given that Cisco owns Linksys, that CNA seems aimed at the small/medium business market, and that many of those businesses (like me) probably mix and match Linksys managed switches (like the SRW series) as leaf switches hanging off other higher end Cisco network gear, It seems to me that making CNA ccapable of discovering and managing those Linksys switches would make a lot of sense.
Is there any hope or plan for this in the future?
    -Kyle

I would like to see this as well.  I have nine Linksys SRW2024 units and it is a pain to go into each one seperately.  I am used to the Cisco Network Assistant and it would greatly help if they could talk to LinkSys smart switches.  Please!

I have bought Three of these products and all three do the same thing. I plug it in, run the setup and the setup never finishes, I can leave it up for hours and it refuses to do ANYTHING. I have talked with Live Chat and have downloaded the drivers, tried to update them manually, tried to install them using the cisco connect setup software and it tells me it cannot install and that i need to call customer service. IVE DONE THAT ALREADY AND THEY TOLD ME TO BUY ANOTHER ONE. I will refuse to buy another cisco product if we cant figure this out.
Device manager wants to install it as a (Disk Drive) and NOTHING ELSE. I have manually installed the drivers for the product but it tells me the hardware doesnt respond. and if i try to update them manuall it says the drivers i am trying to install aren't for the product i am installing them for and it closes out. WHAT THE HECK IS THE PROBLEM WITH THIS THING!? Why does it continue to want to be a usb thumb drive when it's supposed to be a network adapter?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!

  • Cisco UCCX 9.0.2.10000-71 - Demo License Issues

    Hello Cisco Support,
I have installed Cisco Unified Contact Express 9.0.2.10000-71 on a Cisco UCS C220 M3 Server and have used the demo license that comes with the ISO Image on the server. After install, I have used the Premium Demo License. I have integrated UCCX 9.0 with CUCM 8.6(2) SU2.
I can say that everything worked fine until I wanted to test the Cisco Agent Desktop (CAD), Cisco Supervisor Desktop (CSD) and Cisco Agent IP Phone Service.
I am pretty much sure that the configuration on either the CUCM, UCCX is set up correctly but I might miss something.
When I tried to fire up the CAD or CSD, I am getting the following error message: "A licensing error has occurred. Please try again in five minutes. If the problem persists, please see your log files or System Administrator for details". then followed by License Server is down.
I have also setup Agent IP Phone Service on the CUCM and each time I select the Service on the IP Phone, an error stating that could not connect to the IP Phone Agent Service.
Below is the information for my setup:

For dynamic content like the Inbound ports in use and Outbound ports available and in use please check using the Cisco Unified CCX Administration.
     Command successful.
Could you please help me out figure out what could be the cause of me failing to log onto the CAD/CSD and also IP Phone Agent Service?
    Warm regards,
    JK.

    Hello Aman,
    Thanks for the link.
How do I go about turning off the the SYN Flood Detection Mode state in Option 2 on the UCCX Server.
Option 2: Turn off SYN Flood detection mode. Risk: Leaves the server open to SYN Flood.
I have checked and my Windows XP SP3 computer where Cisco Agent Desktop is installed has Windows Firewall set to off at the moment.
    Warm regards,

  • Cisco 1120AP and Toshiba IK-WB11A Wireless Cam

I have a network of Cisco 1120 series AP's. I am attempting to connect a Toshiba IK-WB11A wireless surveillance camera to one of the AP's that I have wiped clean clean clean.
I have a 128bit wep key defined. I can associate with a client pc (hate the idea of wep only - but this is a test). The Toshiba will not associate and encrypt.
I called Toshiba support. Their suggestion was to dump the Cisco gear (yeah, right) and go with something like Linksys.
So after several hours of futzing around, I went and dropped $69 on a Linksys WRTG54G AP unit...
DANG! the Toshiba associated right away!
So my question is - has anyone been able to find a way to get the Cisco AP to show what the real error is in the WEP keys like wep keys hash checksum errors during negotitation or something?
Better yet, if we could get a "hey dummy" notice.
What bothers me is my client pc will connect to Cisco or Linksys using the same wep key. The camera will not.
    Any recommendations are welcome.
    Chris

    Hello -
    Here's what I have found.
    1) The toshiba camera does not scan for channel settings. If you set it for 11, then the AP must be at 11.
    2) You must set not only authentication open but must have authentication shared enable. This debug snipped clued me in on it:
    *Mar 1 13:46:17.809: dot11_mgmt: add a new station 0006.f409.48e3

So now that I have auth open and auth shared enable I can see that I get a WEP session...
