WRT160Nv3 trouble connecting laptop using Vodafone secure remote acces

I have a WRT160Nv3 router installed at home. My home laptops, gameconsoles and iPhone could be connected thru Cicso Network Magic. To get my netgear WGPS606 printerserver connected, I had to disable my windows firewall, connect it with CNM and enable my firewall. This works fine now.
Yesterday I got a laptop from my boss. This laptop has Vodafone Secure Remote Access installed in order to connect to (home) networks or with a HSDPA-card. On my homenetwork I can't get a proper connection thru VSRA, Network Magic doesn't see the laptop as a new device so it can't regocnize the mac-adres. I can connect with the windows tool but then my connection is not secured and I can not use my laptop on the company network. I've tried disabling my firewall (as I did connecting the printerserver) but this didn't work.
Anybody any suggestions?

If your Wireless Network is Secured or its an Unsecured Wireless Network ? If you are able to connect to your Wireless Network using Windows Utility then its not the problem with the router. If your Computer has any other wireless Utility and if you are trying to connect to your wireless network using that Utility are you getting any error message while connecting to your wireless network?
While using VSRA  on your computer are you getting any error message?
If you need to know the MAC Address of your Computer then on your computer click on Start - RUN - CMD and click Ok... In the Command Prompt window type "ipconfig /all" and hit enter and under "Wireless Network Connections" you will find the MAC address of your Wireless Network Adapter.
So if you have enable the Wireless MAC Filter on your Router then you can Input that MAC on your Router and click on Save Settings.

I have a wag54gs installed and a wireless adaptor on main pc. Had trouble with security and could only use laptop wireless with security dissabled.  Ive had some help regarding security its all set up again and wireless is working on main pc.  Laptop however wont connect now on wireless, says aquiring address or limited /no connectivity but works fine if i attach the ethernet cable and use security.  Tried checking setting are the same but must be missing something., probably something simple.  Any help would be appreciate.

  • HT2497 Using Time Machine for home wifi just fine. Switched to cable modem from DSL.  Now having trouble connecting laptops to wifi. ISP says it is not their fault. Mac books won't connect on their own.

Changed from DSL to cable modem. Now Mac book pro won't connect to wifi - Time Machine?
One Mac ok, other not. Help?

Thanks. We have been using an existing Time Machine for wifi.  Cable modem replaced DSL router and was hooked up to Time Machine. What's odd is that 3 computers and iPad2 are connecting to home wifi just fine, using exact same network and password as before. My Mac book pro and an older iPad are not. IPhones are also connecting to home wifi just fine. I managed to get my Mac book pro hooked one time by copying ip address from a Mac that was working (entered manually) then turning that one off. That's not what I need.
The error message is "no ip address".

  • Unable to connect laptop using wireless Linksys router SES 36576

I have a Linksys wireless router (SES 36576) and a new HP laptop (Vista OS). Using my old laptop running XP, I was able to connect wirelessly. Linksys indicates that my signal is EXCELLENT; however, when I input the security key and it searches for the connection, it just flat-out will not connect. I don't know where to start because I've never had this problem before. Is my router compatible??
    Thanks for your help.

Hi, the number you have for your router does not match any model number for a Linksys router.  Wireless routers from linksys normally have their model numbers start with WBR

Router: D-Link WBR-2310 A1 FW:1.04, connected to Comcast High Speed Internet
Desktop, iMac: NM is on the Windows Partition, using Boot camp to access Windows, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM, Broadcom Wireless N Card, McAfee Personal Firewall 2009,

  • Trouble connecting laptop to WRT320N

    Hello All,
I decided to upgrade my router today to WRT320N. I connect to 2 wired computers, 3 wireless computers and an HP network printer on a home network. I have been able to get the wired machines and the printer going just fine with the Windows Vista and Linksys software. I have been unable to connect the laptops wirelessly. I have used the Network Magic program, the Vista Network program, and the HP Wireless asst without luck. I have tried using auto detect on the router, connecting directly from the computer to a wireless network and using the Network magic programs, incl manual connect and loading the settings on a USB device and trying that on the computer to be connected. I am at my wit's end! Any stepwise ideas out there about steps to take? I've restarted Comcast cable modem x2 and the router x4, and all the computers at least once. Thanks.

  • Trouble Connecting To *Certain* HTTPS (Secure) Sites

I hope I get all the relevant info in here b/c, as will become apparent in a moment, it's a bear for me to get on here if I have to log in.
The problems is this -- I can't get into *certain* secure sites.  I first noticed the problem a few weeks ago when I couldn't check out at Amazon, the log-in page would not come up.  Neither would any page on Amazon that is secure, i.e., requiring the entry of my password.  I can't even talk to customer service to tell them about the problem b/c I can't log in to ask my question!
The problem has grown.  Most recently I couldn't get into Bank Of America, now I can't get into gmail.  The real kick is I couldn't get in HERE!!  (But I *can* get into my bank account, I *can* get into Chase and I *can* get into Citi, no problems.)
The problem is occurring on both Safari and Firefox, so it's apparently not a browser issue.
My ISP is Hughesnet, the satellite ISP.  I suspect it's a Hughes issue, but they have been no help and refuse to acknowledge the problem is theirs.
Now, how did I get in here and why do I suspect Hughes?  Because I have a back-up dial-up ISP, Juno, and I got in here using Juno and have gotten into all of the other sites I just mentioned using Juno.  Only thing is, Juno takes eons.  I mean EONS.
As I said, I suspect Hughes.  But, I thought I'd come here and seek help from you guys, I've received excellent and much appreciated help here in the past.  I'm hoping that I'm wrong, that it's not a Hughes problem, and that someone here can suggest a way I can correct w/e is wrong with my settings (if, in fact, it is my settings).
Like I said, I Hope I got it all in.  I can easily come back to look at replies, but to log in to answer follow-up questions... LOL
Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm having this problem as well - and it is indeed very frustrating.  I think it started about two weeks ago (but I've been gone for 10 days during that period).  I couldn’t log in with my passwords to amazon.com, iTunes, or TD Bank.  All were https sites (but other https sites like apple.com worked – go figure)  It does seem to be a "site issue" with Hughes.
I spent hours talking with senior AppleCare IT folks and Hughes tech support over the weekend. The Hughes person "escalated" my issue to "the highest advanced tech support" at Hughes, and I got a call back today. They said they are starting to hear from other customers, and their Engineers are working on it.  They don't know when it will be fixed.
At least it does not appear to be a virus, which was my concern.  Hopefully Hughes will resolve this soon (but they are not exactly the best about customer service).  Still, I live in a rural area and the Hughes satellite is better than dial up.
Hope this helps (at least you know one other person can relate!)

  • Trouble connection Laptop with Router

Linkysys Cisco Wireless-N WRT160N, My connection is fine, My sons laptop will not show my router in his connections. At times it will, and then at times it won't. Most of the time when it shows, he can not connect. We both have Network Magic, when having Network Magic try to fix the connection it never works. I have added his laptop on my devices. He has no problem connection with his Xbox. just the laptop, I am at a loss of what to do. Thanks

I assume that you are loosing both your wired and your wireless connection at the same time.  Is that correct?
The most common cause for this is peer-to-peer (P2P) software.  If you are running P2P software, go into the program and reduce the number of connections that the program makes.
If this is not your problem, please give more details.  Also, please include your router model and version, ISP, the make and model of your modem, and how your system is set up.

  • Trouble Connecting Laptop to WRT54GS

this happens every time the power goes out. last time. i somehow managed to reconnect, but this time i have no idea what to do! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! i went into the connection properties and changed my IP address and located the network to put in the WEP key. it did nothing... what should i do?

    Hey there, ilumtli!
You says you've changed the IP Settings of your computer? You don't need to do that actually. I need to have your answers for these questions I have in mind.
    1. What is the version number of your router, you could find it at the bottom part of the device and it's usually located beside the model #; ex. WRT54GS v6. 2. Aside from this wireless computer of yours which is not working, do you have a computer which is physically connected to the router? If there is, is it able to get online?

  • [Forum FAQ] "Unable to connect to the server by using Windows PowerShell Remoting" error while installing RDS roles on Server 2012 R2

When you try to install RDS role on server 2012 R2 using standard deployment, this issue may occur (Figure 1).
“Unable to connect to the server by using Windows PowerShell remoting”.
Figure 1: Unable to connect to the server by using Windows PowerShell remoting
First of all, we need to verify the configurations as it suggested:
    1. The server must be available by using Windows PowerShell remotely.
    2. The server must be joined to a domain.
    3. The server must be running at least Windows Server 2012 R2.
    4. The currently logged on user must be a member of the local Administrators group on the server.
    5. Remote Desktop Services connections must be enabled by using Group Policy.
In addition, we need to check if the “Windows Remote Management “service is running and related firewall exceptions have been created for WinRM listener.
To enabling PowerShell remoting, we can run this PowerShell command as administrator (Figure 2).
    Enable-PSRemoting -Force
    Figure 2: Enable PowerShell Remoting
However, if issue persists, we need to check whether it has enough memory to work.
By default, remote shell allots only 150 MB of memory. If we have IIS or SharePoint App pool, 150 MB of memory is not sufficient to perform the remoting task. Therefore, we need to increase
the memory via the PowerShell command below:
    Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Shell\MaxMemoryPerShellMB 1000
Then, you need to restart the server and the issue should be resolved.
You can get more information regarding Remote Troubleshooting by below link:

i found another possible reason, this solution worked for me:
    http://oyvindnilsen.com/solution-for-powershell-remoting-error-it-cannot-determine-the-content-type-of-the-http-response-from-the-destination-computer/
I tried to set up powershell remoting on a server and kept getting this error:
Enter-PSSession : Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client cann
ot process the request. It cannot determine the content type of the HTTP response from the destination comput
er. The content type is absent or invalid. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help to
    pic.
After a bit of troubleshooting I discovered that the problem was that the authentication packets was to big (over 16k), this will cause WinRM to reject the request. The reason for authentication packets getting too big can be because the user is member of very
many security groups or in my case because of the SidHistory attribute.
The solution was to increase the MaxFieldLength and MaxRequestBytes keys in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\HTTP\Parameters
If the keys does not exists you can create them, be sure to use the DWORD type.
I sat MaxFieldLength to DEC value 40000 and MaxRequestBytes to DEC value 32768 and rebooted the server. Problem solved.

    Hello,
If your internet connection at home is working fine using a wired connection (using an ethernet cable) to the router and you're only having trouble connecting wirelessly, then I would recheck the network settings on your laptop:
    http://www22.verizon.com/support/residential/internet/fiosinternet/networking/setup/addwireless/1265...
The important part of this process is ensuring that you're selecting the right network name (SSID) for your home residential wifi network and entering the corresponding encryption key.
If you need additional help, please call Verizon's Technical Support department at 1-888- 553-1555.

  • Using USB flash drive to connect laptop

On previous versions of Network Magic, when adding a laptop to my wireless network, an option would appear for using a USB flash drive to transfer settings and/or password to the new machine.
After a few "upgrades" to NM, the option ONLY appears after I turn my security off.  If I leave my WEP security ON, the only option that appears is to "copy" the 32-digit password & enter it on the laptop.  However, I keep getting errors.
Is there a procedure to use a USB flash drive to connect a "new" laptop to my secured wireless network?
    Thank you.

    Hi thomas,
If this is your own New Laptop to your Network, and even after you supplied the password, the problem is the Network Lock is still on. You need to disable the Network Lock. Enter the password, installed Network Magic if the Laptop is your own. You need to stop tracking your Laptop as an intruder on your other copies of Network Magic.
Then you need to reenable the Network Lock from your Wired Computer. Use your other computer to activated the copy of Network Magic installed on the laptop.

  • Connecting laptop to WRT350N and wireless security

Hi, I have the following problem. I need to connect a laptop to WRT350N router. Everything works OK if I do NOT use wireless security. If I use PSK (WAP) then at the Preferred Network screen I set the settings to WAP/PSK and enter the shared key. However, this setting is overruled again and again. I can not save it. If I select my network from the networklist, many times the laptop doesn't even ask for the shared key. And if it does then it acts as if I have installed WEP on the router (which isn't the case!). I use Windows XP Home. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to solve it? Many thank, JFX

I have a second laptop connected to the router which works ok with both the non-secured and the WAP/PSK-secured environment. The one that is not working is a Sony Vaio with LAN-express AS 802.111g card for which I have the latest driver installed. For the WRT350N also the latest firmware installed (WRT350N v2 firmware 2.016) JFX
