WS-C2960S in LMS 3.2

Hi,
Are there any update for managing the WS-C2960S by LMS 3.2?
Best regards,
Laura

Hi,
#show snmp sysobjectid type
Configured  value : use stack OID
Operational value : use stack OID
#show version
Switch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image
*    1 28    WS-C2960S-24PS-L   12.2(53)SE2           C2960S-UNIVERSALK9-M
     2 28    WS-C2960S-24PS-L   12.2(53)SE2           C2960S-UNIVERSALK9-M
In the LMS 3.2, the devices are recognized by the RME and CS, but not by DFM, what involves that alarms are not beeing generated. In LMS 3.1, this devices are not supported by any application.
Cheers,
Laura

  • Upgrade from LMS 3.0.1 to LMS 3.1 or 3.2 and problem with devices update

    Hello
How to upgrade from LMS 3.0 December 2007 update to LMS 3.1 or LMS 3.2. The problem is the large number of C2960S-24TS-L  switches that my organization has and cannot managed them..
I tried to upgrade devices through Software Center but always Ciscoworks informs me with the following message.
"Error while downloading package information from Cisco.com for the selected  products. See the log file for details".
Also i can not run EOL/EOS inventory report. The message is
" INVREP0102: Cisco.com user credentials are invalid. Enter correct credentials." I check my credentials and is right.
The server  has access to www through proxy without any restrictions.
In the past I've already updated devices through the software center. Also in the past i ve run EOS/EOL inventory reports.
The LMS 3.0 December 2007 has the following products

Has anyone knows what can be the problem??.
    Thanks

    Hi,
the problem to access cisco.com is because of a "bug". Its ID is CSCto46927.
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCto46927
    Symptom:
After the 16th of June 2011 LMS will no longer  be able to download Software and Device Package updates, or PSIRT and  End of Sale/Life information from CCO
    Conditions:
Hosted  services in Cisco.com that are being leveraged by LMS, for downloading  the latest Software and Device Package updates, as well as the PSIRT and  End of Sale/Life information are being migrated to a new framework and  the old services will be retired.
This will affect all LMS 3.x and 4.x versions.
Refer to https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-16806 for more information
    Workaround:
Users of LMS 3.2.1 , 4.0 should install the patch that can be downloaded from cisco.com
Users of earlier version will need to upgrade to LMS 3.2 and then install the LMS 3.2 SP1 patch set before installing the patch"
Because of that it is necessary to upgrade not only to 3.1 or 3.2, you need 3.2.1 to get the patch and then access to cisco.com again.
The question about the better way for updating I can't answer. I did a update to 3.1 and then to 3.2. But I think you will find the requirements for the updates in the notes for them.
But I can't find LMS 3.1 in the cisco download center. There is only 3.2 and 3.2.1 available for me.

  • C2960-48TT-L not shown on Campus 5.2.1

There are 25 C2960-48TT-L on the network. Under LMS 2.6 all them are shown on the map.
I have installed lms 3.2, new installation on new server and made all updates from CCO.
On the lms 3.2 (cm 5.2.1) some of them did not show up.
We noted that the ones not shown were running older IOS - 12.2.37SE1.
Three of them were updated to 12.2.46SE but after several data collection
they do not show up on campus.
I have already tried several things:
reseted ANI database, resetCasuser, removed from DCR, manually addind on CM, clear cdp table on the switches...
They are OK on all other applications: RME, DFM and CiscoView.
    The SNMP is V3 AuthNoPriv.
    Any help is appreciated

    I have attached the ani.log.
Meanwhile It was detected that all 2960 not shown on lms 3.2 were set up in cluster together
with 3750 stacked. After taking the three 2960 out of the mixed cluster they showed up
on campus. After upgrade to 12.2.46 SE for the remaining 2960 they will be taken out
of their mixed cluster and hope them all show up.
What still intriger me is that under lms 2.6 they all show in campus, even with 12.2.37SE1.

In the device, below are the rcp configurations
    ip rcmd rcp-enable
    ip rcmd remote-username cwuser
And also in the CS->Server->Admin->System Preferences, RCP user is configured as cwuser. Please advise, if I need to configure it some other settings.
Attached is the software deployment preferences.
    Question:
Although CiscoWorks can successfully do the Inventory  Collection and Sync Archive job of the same device.
Also as you can see  above CiscoWorks can do Software Repository job via TFTP. As TFTP is not  reliable, RCP is TCP protocol, I want to use RCP.
Please advise that why RCP is failing and how I  can correct the RCP issue.
    Thanks

This issue is resolved itself by rebooting the CiscoWorks Server.

Please find the attach the dcmaservice.log , i was not able to analyz it
    Please i appreciate some help.
    Regards,
    George

Without debugging, it's impossible to say exactly why things are failing.  However, based on the errors, I would double-check the DCR credentials for these devices and make absolutely sure you can connect to them using the DCR credentials from the LMS server.  You can confirm this by exporting the records for these devices from Common Services > Device and Credentials > Device Management.  If SSH should be the protocol that works, also try telneting to the device from the LMS server on TCP port 22.  You will get an SSH version string back.  Make sure it is one of 1.5, 1.99, or 2.0.
The timeout problem could be symptomatic of another bug.  Restarting ConfigMgmtServer (pdterm ConfigMgmtServer/pdexec ConfigMgmtServer) may help.  The fact that the job timeout resets to the default means there is a problem with your regdaemon.xml file.  If you post this file, I can fix it for you.

  • Dynamic User update issue on LMS 3.2

    Win2008 VM:

    2. CiscoView 6.1.9
    3. CiscoWorks Assistant 1.2.0
    4. CiscoWorks Common Services 3.3.0
    5. Device Fault Manager 3.2.0
    6. Integration Utility 1.9.0
    7. LMS Portal 1.2.0
    8. Resource Manager Essentials 4.3.1
    hello
Setup Dynamic Updates on LMS a few months back and tested ok with a WS-C2960-24PC-L running c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-52.SE. Dynamic Updates has now stopped working! no changes on LMS or on switch. i've attached a trace debug for MAC UHIC - i can see the mac address (sent by the 2960) ok but the process ends with "macuhic INFO MacUhicDBTransaction: No data in the MAC notification entry.getMacEventSize() is 0". i've also attached the mac notification config on the 2960.
previously i could configure the 2960 switch from LMS through the Device Trap Configuration page. now when i try this i get:
There are no ports to configure for the selected device(s).
Check whether you have selected any router(s).
any ideas on where i go from here?
    thanks
    andy
ps i've also rebooted server but issue persists

    hello
thanks for the response. i had found the following in the MACUHIC log:
2010/10/08 16:15:33 main macuhic INFO TrapListenerFilterImpl: FileNotFoundExcpetion was caught since NMSRoot\campus\etc\cwsi\portsData.xml and NMSRoot\campus\etc\cwsi\vlanData.xml file is not found
2010/10/08 16:15:33 main macuhic INFO TrapListenerFilterImpl: FileNotFoundException occured since Campus Data Collection has not run even once
2010/10/08 16:15:33 main macuhic INFO TrapListenerFilterImpl: NullPointerException occured since there are no XML files. XML file will be generated only at the completion of Data Collection
i checked NMSRoot\campus\etc\cwsi and these files didn't exist.
i reinitialized the ANI database and done a network discovery before running a full Data Collection. Data Collection finishes but the  vlanData.xml and portsData.xml still aren't created.
when i now try and run a manual UT acquisition i get the error:
Failed to start acquisition: Construction of XML data required for UT is in progress. Please try after some time.
there are 2 autonomous AP managed by LMS but i excluded them from the Data Collection - does this sound like bug CSCtd49439?
i've attached a pdshow output - the ani.log contains a lot of IP/naming which i'll have to edit
    cheers

  • LMS 4.2.2 - Inventory fails when hardwareplatform is changed ?

            Hi,
You all know the senario; A managed device, let's say a c2801 router is being replaced with newer platform, let's say a c3900e series router.
Might aswell be a C2960 being replace by a c3750x
I the goodolddays, with LMS3.2.1, you would get the "conflicting device" notice that the SNMP OID has changed on this managed device. you then need to press update and the device would then be managed once more.
How is tyhis done in LMS 4.2.2 ?
I seem to see more and more device in one of my installation, that DCR sees teh new OID and updates, but Inventory fails ...
I get more of this, and the error is just; Internalt error in the job-browser ...
I see Device Center info is wrong, but DCR info is right ...
What to do, and how do LMS handle this ?
Can I get notice around when a device has been changed ?
    regards
    Martin

    Dear Vinod,
Thank you so mush for your answers - I was starting to wonder If I am the only one seeing this ...
But I think not - I checked closely one of my other clients installations, and this infact does the same !
DCR Info is ok, but DeviceCenter info is wrong, and from the old device - also Inventorycollect fails.
I might have been unclear in my posts, but the JobBrowser say this after InvCol fails:
"RICS0001:Internal Error, unable to process the collected data from the device."
(I think many will find this issue if they look hard)
Also please finde the attached screenshot, after device search in upper right corner, hover mouse over crosshairs, to see the wrongly info ! (I have blurred client info)
(Please note that I see the exact same in more than one PrimeLMS4.2.2 installation)
I sure will try the Unmanage/Managed trick, but I really need to see this more clearly with in the LMS.
The Alias device I am aware of, but that is just not the same as the older "conflicting" device in LMS3.2.1
So were is Conflicting devices ?? The doc's say its gone in LMS4.2, but what has replaced that info ?
I kindda disagree your point of view in regards to old data. many clients need to have history tracking like features within the networks device, so just deleting device is not alway an option. So it does make sense to keep config arcihve etc in some cases.

    BR// Rajiv

    Hello,
When searching a documentation for LMS device support, it is better to search if exact SNMP sysObjectID is supported. You can execute following command on the LMS server to get the switch sysObjectID (find snmpwalk.exe file on your server, this is an example for default location):
    C:\Program Files\CSCOpx\objects\jt\bin>snmpwalk.exe -v2c -c 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2
(1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2  is the OID for sysObjectID variable.)
I'm not sure if there is a device package for the particular switches, but you can always try to search for updates via LMS Web GUI:
    Common Services
    > Software Center > Device Update
    and:
Common Services > Software Center > Software Update
If your LMS server has Internet access, and you have valid CCO user ID with privileges to download the software, you can download and install all minor updates and device packages... Everything offered for download when using previous Web GUI tools is free if you have paid Cisco SAS support and works with the same LMS license you already  have.
Do not forget to check for prerequisits (for example, sometimes is needed to install Mdf update for Common Services before installing some RME update...)
    Best regrads,
    Jasmina

  • LMS will not refresh after course is closed

    Hello,
I am hoping someone can give me insight into what might be causeing this problem.
I have a number of courses uploaded to both a staging site and a live site. We recently made a few changes to a course which I thought were quite minor and I uploaded the new scorm files to the LMS staging site for testing.
    The changes were:
the continue button on the Quiz Review slide has always had the text "exit" instead of "continue" but I recently changed the colour from grey to red.
the message that a user received when they pass the quiz is different
The old courses worked on both sites as follows:
If a course was started and a user quite part way through the course the LMS would say resume course when the user logged back in.
If the course was failed then the user would see retake on the LMS when they logged back in and could then retake the course.
If the user passed the course, it was moved from an "In Progress"  area on the LMS to a "Completed" area on the LMS automatically.
Since I made the relatively minor changes to the courses, they will no longer move unless you choose to refresh the page. All courses that have not been updated still work as they should which is what leads me to believe it is not a LMS issue but rather the scorm file issue.
I am using Captivate 7 and have recently updated all my Adobe products so I should have the most recent version of the software. I am wondering if something has changed with how Captivate creates Scorm files?
Also under Reporting/advanced LMS for the courses I have selected Send data on every slide and Set exit to normal after completion (these have always been the settings)
    Scorm files are SCORM 2004
Any input would be very much appreciated.

    Hi Rod,
I could be wrong but I don't think that is the issue.
The updated courses are only on the staging site as we do not transfered them until they are tested. Only those courses that have been recently updated are not working properly but I know that the correct course is being loaded as the button on the Quiz Review is now red. Yesterday I did a test on the live site and uploaded one of the updated courses to see if the problem persisted on the live site. Same problem was on the live site. When I removed this undated course and reverted back to the original the problem went away. It seems it is definitely an issue with the newly updated course.
The courses were oringinaly created using Captivate 6 but then saved in Cativate 7 months ago as I have been using it since if first came out. The original files that were working were created in Captivate 7.
    Thanks

  • LMS 4.0 not starting after upgrade

I am running LMS 4.0 on Windows 2008 Server, recently changed from eval copy to licensed (for 750 devices). It had been running and working for several months. The license application worked fine and it ran a couple days that way.
I then downloaded the CiscoWorks_LMS_4.0.x_WIN2K8_R2.exe patch so that I could upgrade the server OS to Windows Server 2008 R2. Per the instructions in the patch readme I first proceeded to upgrade my server to 2008 R2. Then I installed the patch (patch only).
After doing this (and restarting the server) CiscoWorks daemons will no longer start. I have confirmed my paging file size (swap) is set to start at 8192 MB (8 GB) as required. I tried manuallly starting (net start crmdmgtd) without sucess. I see the initial dmgt_start_lock lock file in C:\Program Files (x86)\CSCOpx\objects\dmgt\ready but none of the other process lock files ever pop in and out as they would normally and the processes (and thus CiscoWorks server) never start.
    Any suggestions?

The "patch" is as far as I know some sort of launcher for the installation setup.exe.
When I run the "patch" al I get is the question where my installer is, so I can install LMS.
I have not yet tried to run this on an existing LMS installation. Nor upgrading the OS on an LMS installation :-)
Does the "patch" have a different behavior when LMS is already installed?
If not, I suggest to use the cleansystem.exe in the CSCOpx\bin to remove the current install, reinstall use the patch to launch the installer and restore a backup
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • LMS application registration problem

    Hi,
I have a problem with the application registration of Campus Manager 5.2.1 under LMS 3.2.
Right now in the "Functional" tab of the LMS portal the "Campus Manager" view is empty.
In "Common Services" - "Server" - "Home Page Admin" - "Application Registration" Campus Manager is missing in the list of registered applications.
I can connect to the Campus Manager using the direct link http://<servername>:1741/campus/adminIntro.do.
The "CM" tab on the LMS portal page works.
I tried to register it this way:
In the CS Homepage Admin I click on "Register" - "Register from Templates" - "Next"
Then I get the list of templates. I select "Campus Manager" - "Next".
    I enter these values:
Server name: fully qualified name of the server
Server Display Name: hostname of the server
    Port: 1741
    Protocol: http
When I click on "Next" - "Finish" the Campus Manager is not added to the list of registered application and I get no error message.
Did I enter wrong values? Where can I find corresponding log/debug messages?

It sounds like the CMIC database may be corrupt.  There is a process to recover this, but it's somewhat complicated.  If you open a TAC service request, your engineer can walk you through the process.  This will clear out the CMIC database and reregister all applications.  That should sort you out.

  • Backup problem with LMS 3.0 on Solaris

    Hi All,
I'm encountering problems with LMS 3.0 when I try to do a backup. After you hit OK on the window that says "Do you want to backup now?", an error would pop up saying: "Enter a new directory name or ask the system administrator of the Ciscoworks Common Services server to make the directory accessible to user casuser", thus I cannot proceed with the backup process. When I do backup, my login privilege is admin. Even tried to do backup on the same partition as my CSCOpx directory but to no avail.
Appreciate your help on this guys. Our LMS 3.0 runs on Solaris platform. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Joe,
Thanks for your prompt response. By the way, what is a casuser? Is he also one of the user that can be found on the Local User Setup on Common Services? The scenario here is that, I am not the one who installed the Ciscoworks LMS 3.0 on the client side, so I am not aware on how they did the installation procedure for the application. I remember assigning casuser password during installation on our other clients that has LMS 3.0.
Will the write access on the backup directory for the casuser be done by the Solaris root administrator?
    Thanks for your help.

  • How do I use adaptive LMS filter with waveforms?

In the attached image file and VI, I am reading a .lvm file which contains abdominal ECG (AECG). AECG contains both maternal and fetal ECGs i.e. MECG and FECG respectively. I'm trying to input AECG and MECG to the LMS FIR filter so that I can get FECG as the error signal, e(n). In my VI, e(n) is coming out as a 16-Bit Double but I want it to come out as a waveform. How do I go about it?
NOTE: Since this forum doesn't allow uploading .lvm files, I have share in Google Drive here. You can use this file to run the attached VI.
    Attachments:
    AECG_NI.vi ‏38 KB

Step 1. Dont use the express VI. It makes assumptions about the data that don't appear to be valid.
    Mike...
PS: The lvm is just a text file. Change the file extension to txt and upload away.

  • Problems LMS-4.2 Installation on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1

    Hi all,
During the installation of the LMS-4.2,
It passed the "Initializing" and "Copying" stages,
but, in the "Configuring", it never finishes,
Anyone had have a similar problem?
the installer is for - LMS-4.2 and the OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1

Thanks for the update. Glad to know it has installed now.
There can be some port clashes and resource scarcity when other applications may be using it. Hence we recommend to have majorly LMS as the primary software on the server's.
Also, LMS is not supported in other languages installers or setups except English and Japanese.
There are a couple more things you can do/check prior to running the installation.
LMS generally need Naming convention to handle long names/path etc. By default C: has 8.3 Naming convention enabled. However if you installed on different drive (for eg E:), for which this may be disabled.
To check naming convention you can run the following command from Windows Command prompt:
                                       cmd>fsutil.exe 8dot3name query <Drive>
    Example:
    C:\Users\winlau>fsutil 8dot3name query C:
The volume state for Disable8dot3 is 0 (8dot3 name creation is enabled).
The registry state of NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation is 2, the default (Volume level setting).
Based on the above two settings, 8dot3 name creation is enabled on C:.
8dot3 needs to be enabled for all drives LMS will potentially use, including:
    Drive where TEMP/TMP is located
The drive LMS is installed to
The drive LMS backs up to
Drive used for a relocated RME Shadow directory or other nonstandard paths written to.
In some cases, altering the TEMP and TMP variables to be a short path (eg C:/temp or C:/tmp) may avoid the issue, but not always.
Hence, to be safe, it is best to enable 8dot3name creation globally, either via the registry or Windows CLI
    Sample command to enable globally:
      "fsutil 8dot3name set 0"
Sample command to enable on one volume:
      "fsutil 8dot3name set X: 0"
Note that this needs a reboot to take effect.  You should not disable 8dot3name creation which already has it enabled, especially the system volume (usually C:).
