X-FI Titanium Pro Various Issues

?Hello Everyone,
I have been having various issues with my new X-FI Titanium pro PCI-E card.
1. With new drivers, I get crackling & popping when ever there is high CPU/HD usage.
2. With the original drivers this goes away, however now I get very loud static after about hour of usage. This is sometimes resolved by switching console modes, but most of the time I have to re-boot.
My System:
Asus M4A79T
AMD Phenom X4 955
Saphire HD4890
8 gigs OCZ pc2800 ram
700 watt OCZ power supply
TB 7200RPM WD HD.
LG DVD RAM dri've.
Creative X-FI Titanium Pro.
I have been through every forum, and all over the internet looking for an answer. Can anyone provide me with some assistance before I scrap my new toy?
thanks in advance.

$ I would highly recommend an X-Fi Titanium, but only the Titanium. The PCI-x rendition of Creative's sound card lineup is easily the best piece of hardware they have ever released. As is fairly common in the PC industry any new piece of hardware can potentially cause a user problems but I'd have to say the Titanium is your best bet.
The problems you're having could possibly just be compatibility issues with your motherboard or a mix of other hardware in your PC. All you can do is try. Personally I am having no problems whatsoever using Creative's latest driver set with Windows 7 x64 and I play quite a few games. If, by chance, you play the game Sacred 2 you could very well have audio issues though but that's due to the game being extremely buggy. Sacred 2 aside everything I throw at my system and X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro works flawlessly. This is all just my own personal experience though. You can try and hope for the best and if it doesn't work out return the card (purchasing at a local retailer if available for a few bucks more might be worthwhile if you do need to return the product though to avoid shipping costs).

  • Various Issues After Update To Bootcamp 3.2 (MacBook Pro, WindowsXP)

    Hi all,
i'm experiencing various issues after i updated to Bootcamp 3.2.
I first was running Bootcamp 3.0 (everything worked just fine, except some nv4_disp.dll bluescreens). I updated to Bootcamp 3.1 and then to Bootcamp 3.2.
Everything seemed to be fine firstly, but now i noticed various issues:
    1. I can't access the Bootcamp control panel (crashes when i try to open it (applecontrolpanel.exe at Offset 0004703a)
    2. Everything USB doesn't seem to work (except external USB drives), like USB printer does not print, camera attached via USB does not import photos)
When i check the Driver-Manager i'm seeing multiple USB hubs, root hubs and host conrollers (4 root hubs, 2 openHCD usb host controller, 2 usb hubs...). When i try to configure the USB port the printer is connected to i also get an error ("not supported").
    3. When i try the extended display settings i'm getting an "NVIDIA display panel extension can't be displayed".
MacBook Pro 13inch, Windows XP MediaCenter Edition (SP3), NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.
    Thanks: Lars

Answered my own question, but want to post how I did it in case other users have the same problem.
I am assuming this issue appeared because I live in Canada. When I installed the Bootcamp 3.2 update, for some reason it changed my regional language of my system to French (Canada) - Canadian Multilingual (Apple)
To change it back I went in Windows XP to Control Panel, Regional and Language Options. Languages tab. Under Text services and input languages clicked Details.
Under settings tab changed Default Input Language from French (Canada) - Canadian Multilingual (Apple) to English (Canada) - US. Click apply.
Wait...it was working, but in the time it took me to type this it suddenly reverted and Im back to weird character mappings inspite of the language setting being changed.

  • Titanium Pro, single GPU, two monitors - SERIOUS static/popping issues

So here is my setup: Creative X-Fi Titanium Pro, Logitech Z-2300 speakers, Turtle Beach 5. headset (splitters between them to output audio to both), XFX GTX 285, DFI LanParty P45-T2RS mobo, Samsung 206BW monitor, and here's the new addition: Samsung 640 series 32" LCD television connected via DVI-to-HDMI cable. I have the audio out from the TV also spliced into the feed for the speakers.
Pretty much from day one with the new TV I've had issues with loud static, and random (left to right channel) popping sounds coming from the speakers and headphones, so it has to be coming from the sound card. It only seems to happen when I have the TV on as a second monitor. I first noticed it while trying to watch a movie in Windows Media Player on the TV, then it started being prevalent while playing Call of Duty 4 on the 20" monitor with the TV on with my Xfire, Ventrilo, and Firefox open. It seems like the extra duty the GPU is putting out interferes with the sound card or something. I've tried moving them both to a different slot but it didn't make any difference.
Does anyone know of anything else that could be causing this? Maybe a power issue? I've got a 650 watt PSU (Seasonic S2). I'm thinking I might just have to throw in the towel and junk my $30 sound card.... ugh.
p.s. I've also got an issue to where if I leave it in one audio mode (Entertainment or Game) for more than a couple hours the sound goes completely to s*** and I'm forced to switch modes and go back, forcing me to close any and all sound producing applications (iTunes, WMP, Firefox) otherwise they freeze. For example I like to play a playlist in iTunes as I go to sleep, but when I wake up and try to play something its completely garbled and staticky (loud too)[email protected]

  • Lumia 900 Various Issues

I recently purchased a white Lumia 900 this past weekend, and just wanted to go over some concerns/issues I've had with it thus far.  I was thinking about doing a return/replace with At&t, but it seems that the issues may vary.  I'm hoping many of these can be resolved with a software update.  Just FYI, I already ran the update that was released on 4/16 and have also reset the phone a few times since then.
    Display:
    1.  The display has a purple hue (most noticeable on gray backgrounds) when set to low brightness.  This is mostly an annoynace since my wife has the same phone and hers does not exhibit this behavior.  I'm hoping this is not a hardware issue as it displays fine above the low brightness setting.  Below is at least one thread of people having the same issue.
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599308
    2.  Screen response is slow.  It seems that that there is a delay between where my finger is and how the screen tracks my movements.  I'm hoping that can be adjusted to be similar to how the Lumia 800 responds as per this video.  The tracking starts at 3:45.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KBDZrqVW-8
    3.  Home screen scrolling is slower than other Windows Phones.  On my previous Dell Venue Pro, I could scroll through the home screen much faster.  From reading about the web, it seems that the Lumia 900 is set at a much slower pace, or that the inertia scrolling just isn't set.  I'm hoping that can either be changed or allow us to change the scroll speed.  The combination of the larger screen, the slower screen response, and the slower scrolling just makes the phone feel slower than it should be.
    http://forums.wpcentral.com/lumia-900-ace/190309.htm
    Sound/Notifications:
    1.  There is a large volume discrepancy between the speaker and the headphone jack.  I try to keep the volume at one setting (around 18) because that is most comfortable for me when listening with headphones, but switching back to the speaker, and it is just clearly too loud at that setting.  I'm hoping this can be changed with an update.
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1615986
    2.  Changing the volume while the screen is off is very inconsistent.  I have to press the volume rocker buttons several times before it makes the incremental change.  It seems others were having issues with the volume rocker not working at all prior to the 4/16 update, so I'm hoping this can be fixed further.
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1607937
    3.  Vibrate function seems to be making a rattling noise.  This one definitely seems to be a hardware issue, though what I have seems to be 'normal' for a Lumia 900.  It's not as bad as others I've seen on the web, where it would be extremely loud, but it is annoying nonetheless.  I'm just hoping a hardware fix can be put in place for the future.  It sounds similar to that of the Lumia 900 at the end of this video.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KBDZrqVW-8
    Camera:
    1.  The camera has issues with white balance and focus.  This is definitely a software issue, since 3rd party camera software are able to take great pictures just fine, such as SophieCam.  I'm hoping this can be addressed soon.
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605444
Despite these issues, I really do like the phone.  I hope many of these issues can be addressed soon via software updates.  We broke contract with our previous carrier to obtain these phones, and would really like to keep them, but not at their current state with these various issues.  I'm hoping Nokia will see these issues and provide quick and helpful support for them.

OK, so I've calmed down a bit and now realize some detailed explanation of the issue could help to identify it more than ranting.  So, here are the usage conditions and symptoms I noticed when I got into this battry drain, laggy, warm phone situation.
    1st time:
Where:  At work which is outside of Phoenix in a spotty reception area.  I had maybe 1-2bars of 4G showing
What: Drove to work using bluetooth audio all the way. When I got to work I was trying to download an App, but the download failed.  I tried again, and the download started, then just froze at 15%.  I cancelled the download and tried again.  It started to download and froze again at 15%.  I attributed this to the weak coverage (but since then I've been able to complete a download from the same location with the same service)
Then the battery seemed to drain as fast as I could charge it...literally.  I had the phone plugged into a USB charger and the state of charge barely changed after hours of charging.  I never thought to re-start.  I got home and my battery was basically dead after bluetooth audio all the way home (almost 1 hr).  I finally restarted and had no more issues.  Didn't really think anything of it...just thought my new phone had a **bleep** battery life
    2nd time (following day):
Where: At home with strong LTE coverage in Tempe
What:  Woke up, paired up with my portable bluetooth stereo at home.  Let the music play while I hung out in the pool for a few hours.  I was simultaneously taking pictures throughout the afternoon.  Battery charge quickly fell to about 25%.  I started to notice that when I would zoom into the pictures I had just taken, it would take about 15sec for the resolution to re-sharpen after zooming in.  About 20min later my battery critically low warning came on.  So, I plugged into my wall charger.  Can't remember at what point I re-started.
That was Saturday.  I had no issues and great battery life on Sunday.  No bluetooth audio usage.  Used Nokia Drive, the phone, internet, and various apps, but no BTA.
    3rd time:
Where:  Driving from Tempe to work, passing in and out of coverage along the way
What: Streamed Bluetooth audio the entire drive with a few phone calls mixed in.  Got to work and the phone was warm, but I assumed this was normal after an hour of usage.  Got into work and noticed it being laggy in general.  Turned off data and BT  Gave it a few minutes to recover and for the phone to cool off with no usage.  Phone didn't cool off and remained laggy, so I figured something was up.  I re-started, all issues disappeared, and phone cooled off.  It has been fine since.

  • X-Fi Titanium - any Win7 issues?

    X-Fi Titanium - any Win7 issues? Hello,
I'm tired of my old SB Audigy 2 ZS causing so much trouble because of inproper drivers.
I decided to buy a new sound card, my current favourite is Creative's X-Fi Titanium.
However it makes no sense to buy a new sound card when there is the possibility to encounter the same issues I already have. These issues are basically driver related.
I am using Windows 7 x64 and my computer has 8GB of memory installed. Audigy 2 has strong distortion and sound spikes in several cases, e.g. when I play computer games that causes heavy load on my system. Microphone port also sounds robotic after some computer uptime. I want a new sound card that just works without any trouble.
Can anyone confirm that X-Fi drivers are working fine?

  • Silencer with HS-980 and X-FI Titanium Pro

*Silencer with HS-980 and X-FI Titanium ProWHey guys and girls,
So I recently bought the Creative HS-980 Fatalty MKII headset in the hope to get better recording results on my PC because of the fans of the PC being loud. The headset comes equip with the ability to use Silencer.
After some fiddling (reinstalling drivers/programs etc) I did not get the required result. I don't hear any difference when enabling Silencer. Even the sound itself doesn't sound that right. So I guess something is wrong.
So does anyone know what I can try to resolve the issues to get the sound and Silencer to work? I do have the right soundcard (that being a X-FI Titanium Pro PCI-E). Also yes, I removed the stereo-to-mono jack before plugging it in.
Even the software itself is kinda weird because the Game-mode has the setting to use Silencer, but Entertainment-mode doesn't. Also missing the ability to use VoiceFX, though not sure this headset or soundcard supports it.
    Drivers: 2.7.0007
    Console launcher: 2.6.35
    OS: Win 7 64 bit
    Thanks for the assistance!

helped install the card in slot x6, interference gone. I think it's the same problem that the loss of sound with plug and unplug headphones on P67 motherboard. because it also helps to install card in the slot x6, but in this case, my video card operates in x8? mode. Please pass this information to creative Labs let them make a workable soundblaster x-fi Titanium card of the motherboards based on intel p67 chipset in x slots.

  • I upgraded my 3rd generation ipad to ios 6.0.1 and now am experiencing various issues.  Neither Pages or Numbers will open.  I just see a gray screen that says Pages or Numbers at the top and all of my documents are gone.

I upgraded my "new ipad" (the 3rd generation I think) to ios 6.0.1 and now am experiencing various issues.
1- Neither Pages or Numbers will open.  I just see a gray screen that says Pages or Numbers at the top and all of my documents are gone. The icon that allows me to create a new document also does not appear.  I went to icloud.com to see whether my documents still existed, which brings me to the 2nd problem.
2- It appears that all of my Pages documents are still on icloud, but all of my Numbers documents are gone.  There were only about 10, but I access 2 of them nearly every day, so this is a big issue for me.
I went into Settings and all of the icloud information is correct and it "Documents & Data" is on.  When I look at the storage, I see the Pages documents but not the Numbers ones.  The next thing I did was turn my ipad off and back on, but this didn't fix anything.  Since my Pages documents are still on icloud, I then tried to delete the Pages app from the ipad so that I could reinstall it, which resulted in the 3rd problem.
3- I cannot delete any apps.  I can get all of the icons to shake and the small x IS available, but everything freezes when I click it.  I can't do anything at that point except reset the ipad or wait until it eventually restarts itself.  I've tried this with Pages as well as multiple other apps, all with the same result.  I've also tried downloading a new app (which worked fine) and then deleting that one, but I got the same result.
3a- A small related issue to this that I am far less concerned about is that when the ipad restarts itself, it comes back on and the screen is really dark and I can barely make out what appears on the screen.  If I enter my password right away, it stays that way until I go into Settings - Brightness & Wallpaper and touch the brightness setting (although I'm not actually changing the setting because it already shows that the brightness is turned up a little over halfway).  If I don't enter my password right away and let it go completely dark, then click the home button, the brightness is fine.
So now I'm stuck.  My guess is that I will need to restore it, but wanted to check before I take that step.  Unfortunately, my laptop is on its deathbed so I haven't been synching my ipad to it and I fear my Numbers documents are gone forever.  I'd like to try everything I can to fix these issues before doing the restore in hopes that I can get the Numbers documents back.
Any suggestions for any or all of these problems?

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • Macbook Pro Wifi Issue

I incorrectly posted this in the wrong thread this morning.
I'm hopeful you might be able to help me diagnose a problem I'm having. I'll provide as much detail as possible.
I have a first generation MacBook Pro. As of this morning I was running 10.5.6 and up until this week was using a linksys router and a comcast cable modem.
I used to have a great wifi signal throughout the house (always full strength), and around 12-18 months ago noticed the signal would weaken. The best I would get would be minus the top bar on the signal, and usually only if I was directly above or next to the room with the router. There were no new phones or devices added that might adjust the signal. On the other side of the house, I would have no signal at all.
My wife has a nine year old ibook and has no issues connecting through wifi.
When I bring my laptop to her parents' house or to the Apple store, where they use Belkin on N or Airport Extreme, I get a full signal.
I've recently suffered a hard drive failure and had a replacement drive installed. The problem persists despite the software update.
Not knowing if it was a router issue or an airport card issue or a combination thereof, I went to the Genius Bar. The genius recommended I upgrade my router to Airport Extreme, and if that doesn't work to return it and he'd focus on the airport card or antenna. I could get the flat rate repair (no AppleCare at this point) for $320+ to repair the problem if Extreme didn't work.
I installed the Airport Extreme router and got a full signal in the basement, far side of the house, upstairs - everywhere. Until around 10pm. The signal died from the basement. If I walked into the room with the Airport Extreme router, I'd get a full signal. If I left the room, I'd get a partial signal. If I walked any distance (10-12 feet), the signal would die. I restarted both the modem and router with no change. I reinstalled the linksys router and got a depreciated connection. I restarted the Airport Extreme again and got a full signal throughout the night, morning, through restarts, and when I returned home from work.
Last evening after using youtube extensively it died again. Linksys would barely work if I switched back, and no matter how many times I restarted I couldn't get the signal to last outside of the area of the router. I left it in the basement overnight shut down, restarted this morning, and had a full signal.
I'm looking for any potential guesses as to what may be causing the problem. I don't want to replace the card if it's the antenna or sink too much cash into a machine if it's a heat related issue linked to Generation 1 syndrome.
During all of this the ten year old ibook works fine. I know a lot of macbook pros have issues with their wireless and don't want to sink in the cash if it's more complex than that. Any advice is much appreciated!

  • Can't install windondows 8.1 on my macbook pro - format issue

Can't install windondows 8.1 on my macbook pro - format issue
    Running latest version of Mavericks.
    Followed the exact bootcamp proceduce.
Have official window 8.1 version on cd.
All goes well until I have to format the 65Gb partition. Disk=0 and partition=4
Can't get over it. Altough I formatted it via a hint found on the internet with "dislpart" in NTFS. Wich also went weel and give the labelname "BOOTCAMP". But still no luck.
    I have two questions:
1/ How to start my mac again in normal mavericks mode?
2/ How can I overcome the windows installation issue?
Tried already a lot of hints found on the internet.

First, make a time machine backup. You will need to erase ands reformat your hard drive. I had the same issue. The issue is that you can't install Windows using bootcamp without having the hard drive formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Do this from disk utility or recovery mode (hold down command and r at startup). Then you have to restore the backup to the hard drive. Then make a usb installer drive with bootcamp and then partition and install. Here's a tip: after you install bootcamp and are in the Windows desktop, go into the installer drive and then go into the bootcamp or support folder, then find a installer that contains the Apple bootcamp drivers. Also, you will need to convert the disk to an iso file. TO MAKE THE USB DRIVE FROM A DISC, USE THIS LINK

  • Macbook pro shutdown issue

Macbook pro shutdown issue when I push the power button it immediately goes into sleep mode

    Hello Marrio22,
Thank you for the question.  With OS X Mavericks, the power button has new functionality:
OS X Mavericks updates the power button behavior on Mac computers.
Using the Power Button to Sleep & Wake
Tap the power button in Mavericks to put your Mac to sleep or to wake it up:
Tap the power button once to put your Mac to sleep.
Tap the power button again to wake your Mac.
Press the power button for less than a half a second to sleep or wake your Mac. This duration is similar to pressing the Space bar or Return key to wake your Mac. The power button works this way across all Macs using OS X Mavericks, including both notebook and desktop computers.
    Accessing the Shut Down Dialog
Press and hold the power button for 1.5 seconds, to bring up additional options:
Forcing the Mac to Turn Off
Hold down the power button for 5 seconds to force the computer to turn off. Important: You may lose unsaved documents if you force the computer to turn off this way. Use this method of turning off your Mac only if it has become unresponsive for an extended period of time. Normally you should shut down the computer by selecting Shut Down from the Apple menu, or from the shut down dialog pictured above.

    thanks
    NBK

    NBK,

  • How to make High Quality HD DVDs from iMovie11 Toast 10 Titanium Pro?

I was searching all over the net to find answers to a problem that I have with film making at home. I'm trying to become an Indie film maker on a small amount of money to start out, so to speak. I've asked Apple over and over for some help, but they say - we can't because we don't support third party solutions. I have iMovie 11 and iMovie HD 6. I use AVCHD 1080i camcorders and a GoPro HD Hero for time lapse shots. Toast 10 Titanium Pro and a external LaCie d2 Blu-ray Drive also external hard drives. I'm trying to make high quality HD dvd's and then Blu-ray disks later also for my ( high elevation mountain video) demos. Codec/compression - bit rate/data rate - key frame - sample rate and what software to use or not is all confusing me. I've tried and I'm still not making video that looks as good as it did when first imported into iMovie. Can anyone please help me out with this mater. Thank You Good Day

Good FAQ type information [is at this link|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2424451]
In general, import to iMovie in FULL, not LARGE.
Export from iMovie using the SHARE menu. Use the 1080P Preset. You can SHARE/iTUNES, SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER, SHARE/MOVIE..., or FILE/FINALIZE PROJECT. All will use the 1080P preset.
You can also SHARE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME, but I would not recommend it unless you know what you are doing.
Drag this file into TOAST 10 with BluRay plugin.
Check FILE/PROJECT PROPERTIES in TOAST to make sure you are burning at highest quality.

  • Mac Pro Display Issue

Mac Pro Display Issue - Unexpectedly Sleeps and Freezes
Just since a couple of days my Mac Pro desktop has been having display issues. Unexpectedly the screens go into sleep mode, it turns black and freezes, the computer doesnot respond to the keyboard or mouse.
At first I thought this was related to Chrome, and switched to Firefox, but the computer is still having the same issue. I have to shut down and restart each time it gets stuck.
I even went into preferences and changed the energy saver settings to "Never" allow display or harddrive to sleep. But this problem is stil happening.
Does anyone have the same problems? Or a solution?

I cleaned out my mac with compressed air, it was dusty, but the display flickering happened again.
So I followed your advice and installed:
    Temperature Monitor
    http://www.bresink.de/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html
Which showed that my memory module 1B and 2B were 70 - 75'C(160 -167'F). There was no reading for the graphic card so I couldn't tell if that was over heating.
    Then I installed:
    smc fan controller
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23049/smcfancontrol
and increased the memory_cpu fan speed which lowered the temperature of the ram to 60'C (143'F).
I even changed this ram's placement and put it in different slots. This ram was the same temperature in the new placements.
Also this is the kingston 2gb ram without heatsinks. Ive used it for 1.5 yrs, and this is the first time its giving me these problems.
Do you know how I can check if the graphic card is over heating? or is the problem just with the ram?
Thank you for all your help!

  • Trying to get sound from my X-FI Fatal1ty Titanium Pro. to Home Theatre via Optical Ca

Hi wondering if anyone has done this but I can't seem to get it to work. I have a X-Fi Fatalty Titanium Pro(w/o the Li've Dri've) on Vista 32-bit. Anywho it has the Optical I/O on the card itself and I am trying to hook this up to my Home Theater system. I have the optical already hooked up to the output on the card, and into my DVD input on my Yamaha receiver but am not getting any sound. So far that's all I have done, is there settings I am more than likely missing either in the Vista sound, creative console, etc....
Note:? I had this working before on my onboard sound and on XP, but since with the onboard I could only get some sounds playing through my home theater I decided to get this Fatalty Titanium card and the sound settings in Vista seems really vague not a lot of options.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andy

I have a Yamaha RX-V3800, it's fairly new and supports just about every thing except true THX.
Not sure what DDL means, it just seems to me I am having a lot harder time with Vista setting than with XP. I had a X-Fi XtremeGamer installed but because it didn't have any Digital out so I had to use my onboard sound which has digital out in conjunction with my XtremeGamer. At least with XP you can choose say all my wave, payback sounds, etc.... to go through one device or the other, in my case either through the Realtek HD or the CL X-Fi XtremeGamer.
Now that I have the Fatalty and Vista and onboard sound disabled, I have a hard time seeing any options and settings if any at all that Vista has. ? Oh yes also with my old setup with the two sound devies, the only problem I had was that if I di'vert all the sound to my Home Theatre I would lose the sound in my Headset which I didn't want and had to change back and forth the audio devices to what I wanted.
I hope this helps answer your questions a little, and maybe help me answer mine.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Intel BadAxe2 won't boot with X-Fi Titanium Pro P

Just bought the X-Fi Titanium Pro PCIE board. My machine refuses to finish booting with it - it goes through POST, shows info on both RAID arrays, then instead of screening the Windows (Vista 64) boot manager, it stops with?a single flashing cursor in the top left corner of the monitor.
Configuration is E6700, 4GB Ram, Sapphire X950 Pro Ultimate PCIE video card. Until I tried to install the SB card it was fine. If I remove the card it is fine. I've tried the two (6X) slots I have available - sakme result.
Any ideas? Or do I try to return the card (doubt if my supplier will take it back, I'll need an RMA from Creative) and look for someone else's? I'd prefer to find a solution for this one, but I've updated the BIOS and pretty much run out of ideas ....

Well, after doing almost everything I could think of, I was reading the Intel forums and found that users were seeing similar problems with LAN connections when the sound was disabled in the BIOS. The Creative installation instructions had said to turn the sound off. When I turned it back on, the boot continued through and I was able to complete the installation with no further problems at all. And the sound is awesome!
