XA Datasource Problem with ClientSession

Hello,
in my configuration i'm using a OracleXADatasource. When i call a sessionbean method where i only use a clientsession then i can see how toplink generates and executes the sql. But at the end of the execution i get there always an rollback.

I'm using as J2EE-Server the IBM Websphere 5.1, Database is a Oracle 9i and the configured Datasource uses the class oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource.
The session.xml contains the follwing lines:
<session-type>
<server-session/>
</session-type>
<login>
<datasource>jdbc/PolarDS</datasource>
<platform-class>oracle.toplink.oraclespecific.Oracle9Platform</platform-class>
<uses-native-sequencing>true</uses-native-sequencing>
<sequence-preallocation-size>1</sequence-preallocation-size>
<uses-external-connection-pool>true</uses-external-connection-pool>
<uses-external-transaction-controller>true</uses-external-transaction-controller>
</login>
<external-transaction-controller-class>oracle.toplink.jts.was.JTSExternalTransactionController_5_1</external-transaction-controller-class>
Is this a configuration issue or it is not possible to use a clientSession?
Gruss
Dirk

The issue is that the OracleXADatasource you have configured in Websphere cannot be used outside a JTA transaction, or at least will cause a rollback when released.
When using a UnitOfWork you are forcing TopLink to begin a JTA transaction, so this works with the data-source.
Does the rollback cause an exception, or only the log? If it just logs the rollback, it should not cause any issue as it is just a read operation.
You must either ensure that you always have an active JTA transaction, or configure a non-JTA data-source. In TopLink you can also configure the read connection pool to use a non-JTA data-source, and have the write connection pool use a JTA data-source.
You may also want to contact Websphere on this issue as DataSource connection accessed outside a JTA transaction should be set in auto-commit mode, so should not be causing a rollback.

  • Problems with ClientSession.getQuery()

    hi folks,
    i have a problem with TopLink 10.1.3/ Oracle db 9.2.0.5.0/ oracle oci client 9.2.0.1.0/ WebSphere 5.1/ IBM java SDK 1.4.2
    is there any reason why i am observing the following:
    I have created a named query in the mapping workbench...
    for any ClientSession cs.....
    cs.executeQuery("myNamedQuery", MyClass.class) works as expected. giving me a Vector of obejcts of my target class
    but...
    cs.getQuery("myNamedQuery") gives me null
    Using my debugger, I can see that the hashmap of queries that belongs to my ClientSession (and the owning ServerSession) are both empty. Am I missing something?
    I want to set some partial object parameters on the named query before I execute it so I can't just use the executeQuery(...) call.
    any help appreciated.
    cheers
    paul

    excellent...works great. thanks!!
    the only problem is that the solution uses deprecated methods.
    i am seeing lots of deprecation messages in this area, but not all deprecations have replacement instructions in the javadoc.
    Last time I used toplink was pre-oracle so maybe I just have 'the old way' stuck in my mind?? however.......
    DatabaseQuery query = relationalDescriptor.getQueryManager().getQuery(queryName);
    maybe the RelationalDescriptor.getQueryManager();
    shouldn't return the deprecated DescriptorQueryManager (the one in oracle.toplink.publicinterface) but the one in the new oracle.toplink.descriptors package instead?)

  • Datasources . problem with the new Source System

    Hi friends!
    The ECC client were copy and now I have a new source system for this.
    If I select source system / verify, the msg is: ok
    In can read some data from the new ECC (ie: exchange rates updated), but I can not read any records using the datasources.
    The replication in Bi were done, and the data in source system is ok.
    -> What is wrong?
    Thanks!

    Check the profile parameters in WE20,We21... and also check scc4

  • Problem with Matrix/Checkbox/Datasource

    Hi, i have a problem with a Matrix.
    There are 3 Columns on this Matrix, one of those is a Checkbox. I fill the Columns with data, the Checkboxes where just added (no Checkbox is selected), the user has to select the value (Checkbox)he want's to by hand.
    After i filled the Matrix i can see all the data on the Form, it's OK, but then i loose all entries after SBO is doing some work. There where shown only the empty rows and the checkboxes.
    I guess it has something to do with the databinding. My problem is that i don't have the Data for this form on a db-table. I fill in the matrix the result of some querys. It looks like i need at least a DB-Field for the checkboxes, otherwise there are not working (not selectable)
    Somebody knows a solution how i can keep the Data in the Matrix after SBO is doing some work? What could be the reason that i loose the data after filling it in the Matrix? Is there an easy way?
    Thanks Andreas

    Almost every item on a form need a datasource... If the item reprecents some data in a table the databinding must be a dbds... If the data does not reflect any data in a table (Calulated value, user-decision, ect.) a userdatasource need to be created...
    Add a userdatasource
    oForm.DataSources.UserDataSources.Add(UID,type,length);
    Databind to DBDS
    col.DataBind.SetBound(true,”TABLE”,”FIELD”);
    Databind to UDS
    col.DataBind.SetBound(true,””,UID);

  • Performance problems with 0EC_PCA_3 datasource

    Hi experts,
    We have recently upgraded the Business Content in our BW system, as well as the plug-in on R/3 side. Now we have BC3.3 and PI2004.1. Given the opportunity, we decided to apply the new 0EC_PCA_3 and 0EC_PCA_4 datasources that provide more detailed data from table GLPCA.
    The new datasources have been activated and transported to the QA system, where we experience serious performance problems while extracting data from R/3. All other data extractions work as before so there should not be any problem with the hardware.
    Do you use 0EC_PCA_3? Have you experienced any problem with the speed of data extraction/transfer? We already have applied the changes suggested in note 597909 (Performance of FI-SL line item extractors: Creating indexes) and created secondary indexes on GLPCA table but it did not help.
    thanks and regards,
    Csaba

    Seems the problem was caused by a custom development - quantity conversion in user exit. However, we tried loading earlier after removal of the exit, it did not help then (loading took even longer...). Now it did.

    I don't see any problem with your files, so unfortunately I can't help. Since this forum is about the J2EE SDK, people may not have that much experience with standalone Tomcat. You may want to try the Tomcat user mailing list for a question about Tomcat: http://jakarta.apache.org/site/mail2.html

  • Very urgent : Problem with field attributes in Datasource

    Hi
    I am getting a problem with field attributes in the datasource.
    The issue came up after i modified the extract structure-i modified one field and
    added one field to the structure.Now those two fields are not visible in BW.
    When i checked with transaction rsa2, i could find that for those two fields , the
    field attribute is <b>'A'</b> which is <b>'Field in OLTP and BW Hidden by SAP'</b>.
    I tried to modify the field attribute to make it visible.Now the issue is that it is not getting reflected after transport in the Q system.What can be the issue.In the Q system its still the old value 'A' ,which makes the fields invisible.
    Please let me know what can be the issue.
    Regards
    Leon

    Hi,
    did you change this attribute via RSA2?
    you need to change your datasource via postprocessing (RSA6); then transport your DS to your Q source system.
    Replicate your datasources in your BW.
    Finally modifiy your Transfer Structure by editing your TRules ( tab Datasource/Tran structure), move your new fields from the right frame to the left frame)
    Maintain your TRules
    Activate
    hope this helps...
    Olivier.

    1 - I did a deletion of setup table data in transaction LBWG for application 08 and checked Shipment document and Shipment Costs.
    2 - Transaction VTBW -> Execute this transaction with the fields "Shipment Number" and "Created on" empty.
    3 - Execute a infopackage with update - "Initialize Delta process - Initialization with Data Transfer".
    I don't have problem with this 03 tasks, the data come from ECC without problem.
    But when I execute a infopackage with "Delta Update"  the Monitor - Administrator Workbench show me 0 from 0 records "No data available, data selection ended ".
    What is wrong in my tasks? Why the delta don't work?
    Thanks.
    Paulo Sampaio

    Hi,
    Your Process is correct for initialization load. But when you are running the delta there should be a V3 run for this datasource in ECC system, then it captures the deltas.
    Till you have pulled all the full load data to BI, but there is no data available in the delta tables for this datasource, since you have not run any V3 run for this. That is why it is showing zero from zero recrods.
    There must be some positings in ECC to the database tables related to this datasource after your initialization run, then only after running the V3 to capture the new/changed records it updates to Delta Queue (RSA7), then we will get the records to the BI.
    Otherwise check the data source data in RSA7 tcode.
    Hope this helps.
    Veerendra.

  • Problem with XSU and DataSources with nested cursors?

    We are having a problem with the xsu libraries (OracleXMLQuery) using nested cursor syntax. The class returns nicely nested xml document when a database connection is established in the traditional/legacy manner of "class.forName(); DriverManager.registerDriver();" .
    However, when using a DataSouce object within a J2EE container, we get an xml document back that only represents the main level of the resultset with datatypes + memory addresses for the cursor fields (instead of the expected nested xml elements).
    Any thoughts?
    BTW, we are using the iPlanet Application Server with an Oracle 9i database.
    for instance:
    SELECT a, b, CURSOR(select m, n, o
    from table2
    where table1.x = table2.y),
    d, e, f
    FROM table1
    WHERE table1.name = 'Matt'

    Somebody please answer this question?

    I think the installation of planning on Vista is difficult. As some of the files doesn't support even i am tired of doing that.
    But tell me one thing have you installed all other products , I mean Essbase, (server, client) , AAS and Shared services.
    Are they working good .
    I have formatted my system to XP and installed everything , but the problem is when i install planning it prompts me that IIS 5 should be greater other wise EPM will not install...
    there are lot of things with planning 1) i can't datasource as it is not highlighting when we configure with Shared services
    2) It does not create product instance .
    If any one can fix this thing by giving me a suggestions.
    Advance Thanks

    I have set the context path to /tdm in the server.xml file. Should this be placed in context.xml?
    My first page in the project is called Homepage.html. To start my project I give http://localhost:5050/tdm/homepage.html
    in a browser. Here I accept a username and password from the user and then do the validation in
    a valid.jsp file, where I connect to the database and check and use jsp:forward to go to next pages
    accordingly. However when I enter the username and password and click Go in the homepage, nothing is
    displayed on the next page. The URL in the browser says valid.jsp but a blank screen appears.
    WHY DOES IT HAPPEN SO? DOES IT MEAN THAT TOMCAT IS NOT RECOGNIZING JAVA IN MY SYSTEM OR IS IT A PROBLEM
    WITH THE DATABASE CONNECTION OR SOMETHING ELSE? I FEEL THAT TOMCAT IS NOT EXECUTING JSP COMMANDS?
    IS IT POSSIBLE?WHY WILL THIS HAPPEN?
    I set the JAVA_HOME and CATALINA_HOME environment to the jdk and tomcat folders resp.
    Is there any other thing that I need to set in classpath? Should I have my project as a
    WAR file in the webapps of TOMCAT or just a folder i.e. directory structure will fine?

    I am using Tomcat 5.5 and Jdk 1.5.0_12 and Oracle 10g. I am using jdbc-odbc bridge connection
    to connect to the database. I have placed my project folder called
    tdm under the webapps folder in Tomcat. This 'tdm' folder consists of
    a collection of html pages,jsp pages and images of my project. Also I created a
    WEB-INF folderand in that I have lib folder which contains catalina-root.jar
    , classes12.jar and nls_charset.jar files. And also in the WEB-INF folder I have the web.xml
    file which looks like this
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>

  • Problem with SLD and Creation of JCo

    Hello everyone!
    I have a problem with the SLD and the Creation of JCo on the Portal, in trying to create the JCo always tells me that the name used there in the SLD, being that the facility is new.
    Who performs the installation, set in the SLD the ECC 6 PRD, delete it to see if I could create a JCo but still the error again when creating the ECC 6 PRD in the SLD I said that already exists and can not create it.
    I found a forum which recommended re-import the cimsap .... .... zip and zip CR_Content which would clean everything, I managed to import the zip cimsap ... but in trying to raise CR_Content gives me the following message "All incremental updates of the selected aggregate import for export SAP_CR line have already been loaded before. You require a newer import to update your current content SAP_CR version 4.11." .
    I recommend, do the installation again, reload the cimsap.zip and CR_Content.zip a copy homogeneous.
    from already thank you very much

    Hello!!
    The "SLD" with which I am working up to Portal, the "ECC" installs itself as "ABAP.
    Who did the installation and initial configuration, do not leave any documentation about it.
    Now I need to create the systems and "JCo" necessary to enable them to implement the "ESS", but errors are presented above.
    Some days ago I managed to update the CR_Content, which allowed me to create the "JCo" but at the time of the test, says' com.sap.mw.jco.JCO $ Exception: (103) RFC_ERROR_LOGON_FAILURE "name or password incorrect .
    I managed to also create the portal systems, "System Administration -> System Configuration -> Content Portal" and to test it fails on "Test Connection with Connector", which as noted is associated with the connectors "JCo".
    For the creation of the system, I think I should create something in the Visual Administrator ", but within the documentation that I do not see anything about it.
    thanks for your help!

  • Problem with unicode in MIME text/html

    Hi;
    I have a java program that sends email by sending it to our exchange server using SMTP. The email has both a To and a Bcc in the single email sent.
    The bcc addressee receives the email fine.
    The to address however has a problem with chars that are > 0x7f in the html. The html uses utf-8. But the displayed characters look as though the utf-8 part was ignored.
    Also weird, if I go to view, options in Outlook for the bcc email (which is good) it shows:
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: multipart/alternative;
    boundary="----=_Part_0_32437168.1135634913407"
    Return-Path: [email protected]
    X-OriginalArrivalTime: 26 Dec 2005 22:08:33.0366 (UTC) FILETIME=[E94D1F60:01C60A68]
    ------=_Part_0_32437168.1135634913407
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=Cp1252
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
    ------=_Part_0_32437168.1135634913407
    Content-Type: text/html; charset=Cp1252
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
    ------=_Part_0_32437168.1135634913407--
    But for the to email (which has the problem), it only shows:
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: multipart/alternative;
    boundary="----=_Part_0_32437168.1135634913407"
    Return-Path: [email protected]
    X-OriginalArrivalTime: 26 Dec 2005 22:08:33.0366 (UTC) FILETIME=[E94D1F60:01C60A68]
    Does javamail do anything weird when it gets an email with a to and a bcc and split it up wrong? I just download and installed the latest mail.jar and activation.jar.
    thanks - dave

    OK...this didnt quite cure it for me...but having done this AND then this...
    MimeBodyPart htmlText = new MimeBodyPart();
    final String htmlStuff = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?>"
    + "<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN\" \"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd\">"
    + "<html xmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml\" xml:lang=\"en\" lang=\"en\">"
    + "<head>"
    + "<title>Stuff.</title>"
    + "<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"application/xhtml+xml; charset=utf-8\"/>"
    + "</head><body>"
    + "<p>Currency Symbols: \u00A3\u00A2\u20A3\u20AC$<p>"
    + "</body></html>";
    DataSource htmlSource = new DataSource()
    private String stuff = htmlStuff;
    private Charset cset = Charset.forName("utf-8");
    public String getContentType() { return "text/html"; };
    public java.io.InputStream getInputStream() throws IOException
    return new ByteArrayInputStream(cset.encode(stuff).array());
    public String getName()
    return null;
    public OutputStream getOutputStream() throws IOException
    throw new IOException();
    htmlText.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(htmlSource));
    htmlText.addHeader("Content-Transfer-Encoding","base64");
    This works for me as shown by the Unicode chars in the html.
    If you intend to take this to production create a decent external DataHandler class and avoid the use of the anonymous class - which then avoids the need for the final String and the string can come from anywhere then.
    Hope this helps,
    Barry
