Xbox 360 FiOS App issue

For the past couple of days the app has been stuck at the loading channels screen.  Microsoft says its an issue on Verizon's end.  Anyone else having this problem?

I have had similiar problems where certain apps work and others perform poorly, especially on wireless.  if you want a real test then hardwire your device, if you can't do that, then you should just change the channels and experiment.
channels 1, 6 and 11 are all you should use.
open a browser on any connected pc, and go to http://192.168.1.1
username is admin
password is the serial number found on your router
once you're in you click on change wireless settings in the first column and it takes you right to the channels. if you click on wireless at the top instead then you have to make one more selection which is basic security settings, and then you are at the channels.
change it to 1, and hit the checkmark for keep setting after router reboot.
save
test it.
the change would be immediate.  if you don't notice a difference or it's worse, then change it to 6, and test. and then finally to 11 and test.
I think you will find one will perform better than the other.
if it doesn't then come back and let us know.

Are there any plans about adding more channels to the xbox 360 app? or at least let me watch the channels I'm subscribed to. I'd be interested i seeing more sports channels added to the app, particularly both BeIn Sports Channels.

Unfortunately, I think those of us still using a 360, got pushed aside when the Xbox One came out. I'd be surprised if we saw any new updates to the 360 app.

  • Xbox 360 Trade-In Issue

I've rarely felt so insulted in my many years of retail work and patronage as I have felt today at Best Buy. As a former employee of the chain, both in retail and the Geek Squad, I am generally quite forgiving of any issues I have while shopping there.
The goal of my visit was to trade in my Xbox 360 to upgrade to the knew Xbox One. There was a promotion online to get some value out of my old system. The promotion was as follows:
"In store only. Trade in any working Xbox 360 or PS3 console and receive a $50 coupon toward an Xbox One. Trade in a working Xbox 360 250GB or Sony PlayStation 3 Slim and receive a minimum $100 gift card"
I had a mis-matched console, admittedly; it was a black elite with a 250 GB final Fantasy XIII hard drive. Since it didn't specify models, I thought I would still be eligible.
When I got to the line, there were two other people being helped. About 5-10 minutes go by and I still hadn't been recognized by staff, but they were busy so that's fine. The bag was fairly heavy and I kept having to shift around but I wasn't even asked if I would like to place it on the counter or anything. I thought that was lame, but maybe that's not their policy.
Eventually the girl at the counter finished helping her customer then said (either on her radio or to another coworker) that she couldn't help "this guy" (I'm guessing me) because she had to go on her lunch break. It was at this time someone did say someone would be with me shortly. I waited a bit until I was told to go around the counter to Geek Squad. Then we moved to another station because the first one didn't work. Then that one had a pad problem so I had to go back around to where I started. A little annoying, but nothing too bad.
We finally started examining the system. The lady pulled it all out and verified that it worked and had a 250 GB hard drive. Unfortunately, my console was not in their system at all. My console was refurbished by GameStop but still had the seals, but because it wasn't the color white (since the Final Fantasy version what white) I couldn't trade it in. Despite the fact it was still an Xbox 360 Elite. It was just the wrong color.
I politely asked if there was anything we could do. Any sort of trade. She said "nope" and shook her head. Feeling a little miffed I asked if I apologized for being a bother and asked if I could speak to the supervisor. She curtly informed me that she was the supervisor. Her tone agitated me but I was aware I was on the verge of being one of "those" customers, but I asked to speak to a manager nonetheless. I wanted to get something for this console because I really wanted to spend my money at Best Buy and not have to go elsewhere. So she goes to the manager and explains everything to him. He comes out and asks how he could help. I explain that I really wanted to trade in the system towards an Xbox One like it was advertised in the ad online. This is where I completely lose it in my head.
He looks me in the eye and asks if I would like to recycle it.
Really? Out of all of the possible things you could tell me, you offer to take my item and destroy it for me? I was so surprised, I bet my jaw dropped. I don't really remember because of the rage I was thrown into. No, I didn't yell at him or get too bent out of shape. I politely (as much as I could) say no thanks and ask for my console back. Astonished, I remarked that if this is the way they treat customers then I should return the Galaxy phones my wife and I just got four days prior. I don't know if it was his Commonwealth accent or what, but that way he said "You certainly have that choice" only seemed to enrage me further. I left and of course the girl gives me a sickly-sweet "have a nice day" which only made me more disgusted.
I really wanted that system and I will buy it next, but certainly not from Best Buy. We are even thinking about returning the phones we bought and going to Verizon direct (I already set some of that up), and we may close out our Best Buy Credit Cards. We were even planning on buying a laptop later this month because the Geek Squad protection ran out on our last one and its about to break. I won't be doing that again, I can assure you. I'm so upset that mere words cannot describe them. All I wanted was something for my old console so it wouldn't have to collect dust and all I received from their management staff was insults. Good job. Hope it works out for you. I doubt my words mean anything to you, but maybe some one will hear them and take heed. I hope so, at least, because I don't want anyone to go through what I had to today.

  • E2000 Xbox 360 wireless connection issues

My Xbox 360 will not connect to my Cisco E2000 wireless router. It can find the router, but when the Xbox tests the connection it can’t establish a connection with the router. Ironically when I try to use the guest account it can establish a connection with the router before I run in to trouble. Regardless I have looked in to the errors it gives me and they don’t help at all any suggestions will be appreciated.

What model is the xbox? 1st gen or Slim?
There are known issues with Slims WIFi adapter on this console.
Try setting single mode N, WPA2 only, Auto 20/40Mhz and manual channel 11 with Enable WMM turned ON.
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use http://www.metageek.net/support/metageek-software-archives/ to find out. Use v3. How many?

  • Time Capsule & Xbox 360 over ethernet issues

I have a Time Capsule connected to my modem, I can access the internet over WiFi on my mac without issues, however when I connect my Xbox 360 to the router via ethernet it will not allow me to connect to Xbox live. What's highly frustrating is that it passes all test apart from the ICMP one. According to some forums, if your receive this then your router is not compatible with xbox live. However this contradicts people being able to connect through their TC on other posts. I can connect to xbox live if I directly plug it into my modem, so it is not anything todo with that side of things.
Is there any reason why this might be on my TC and how might I go about sorting this problem out?
    Any help much appreciated
    Matt

Although I also haven't been able to get it working over Wi-Fi yet, I've got it working pretty happily over what is ostensibly ethernet (powerline networking ftw).
My guess is that the problem you're having is due to your Time Capsule ignoring stuff (as a security measure) that Xbox Live is sending the Xbox, so what I think you need to do is tell your Time Capsule to stop doing that for the Xbox. You do that by getting your Time Capsule to give the Xbox the same IP address every time it connects, and to not block anything sent to that IP address.
First we need to get the Xbox's MAC address, which you can find either on the back of the Xbox itself, or by going to the System blade on the Xbox Dashboard, selecting Network Settings, Edit Settings, Additional Settings (push the left thumbstick to the right), Advanced Settings, then the MAC address should be displayed.
Just to be clear, a MAC address has nothing to do with Apple's computers, standing for Media Access Control, and is a quasi-unique code that nearly every network adapter has. We're using it here so your Time Capsule can recognise the Xbox.
Now you've got the MAC address, open AirPort Utility, select your Time Capsule and click Manual Settings, the Internet toolbar icon, then the DHCP tab. Click the plus button under the DHCP Reservations box, type Xbox 360 (or whatever you want) as the description, and click Continue. Now type the Xbox's MAC address into the MAC Address box, then click the IPv4 box, change the last number from 2 to 35 (so it's something like 10.0.1.35), and click Done.
Now we have the Xbox getting the same IP from the Time Capsule, we need to tell the Time Capsule to stop filtering stuff that's sent to that IP, to do that, click the NAT tab (inside the Internet section), then "Enable default host at:" and enter 35 as the last two digits (so it matches up with the IP address we put in the IPv4 box earlier). Finally, click Update, and when your Time Capsule has finished restarting, try the connection test on the Xbox again.

  • XBox 360 - Homehub 2 issues (again)

I recently decided to give the Homehub 2 another go, my main reason for ditching it last time and reverting to the old hub was problems with my XBox 360, more specifically media sharing between my PC and the 360 (the PC is connected to the router via the Powerline adapters).
Previously I'd have to give everything a reboot, then the PC would show up on the 360, work for about 20 seconds and then disconnect. So this time (after reading some posts here) I decided I'd put the 360 into the DMZ, and now media sharing works fine whilst my 360 is on. However once I turn it off and back on it can no longer find the PC again, I reboot the router with the reset button and once it's back up I can connect to the PC again from the 360.
I find this quite odd that I have to reboot the router to establish the connection.
Odder still is my laptop which connects to my router wirelessly doesn't behave the same way, it remains connected to the 360 at all times. So something to do with the router and Powerline adapters? Any suggestions/ideas?

Yep I had a similar issue with that also. All computers and laptops are on windows 7 so the file sharing homegroup function didnt work.
On checking my router settings the DMZ had auto assigned to my PC's, so check your PC's/laptops are not in the application sharing and DMZ.
If they are remove the settings.
Now restart homehub, set the PC and laptops to always use this IP address and it should work.
It should lock them into that IP address and no application sharing and DMZ settings will affect those devices.
Let me know how it goes.

  • I recently installed the xbox 360 controller app so that I could play my rockband drums in logic and ableton live but I installed the wrong one and I was wondering if anyone knew how to uninstall it from the system preferences page and the whole program?

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it and if anyone knows how to use the drum pads for those programs I mentioned would be great? I found a couple sites for using it with garageband but nothing as for mainly live and Im running OSX 10.6 so if anyone out there knows please let me know!!! The main reason I think I installed the wrong one is when I plug in the rockband drum kit to my usb port it dosen't show up in the xbox controller program but it lights up and I've tried all my different usb ports to see if that might be whats wrong but I still show nothing and I've also installed junXion and nothing shows up there either. So if anyone has any ideas just let me say thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

  • WRT160n and Xbox 360 Internet connection issues

I just got this router and it is working fine in getting connection but me and my roommates are having issues with the NAT type when playing xbox. As far as i know, two are hooked into the LAN via ethernet cable and the other is using wireless. When playing we all experience different levels of NAT type, Strict, Moderate, and Open. Is there a way to set up the router so that the NAT will stay open for all of us at the same time. The only way to get that now is to unplug the router just as we want to get on and play.

  • Fios tv app xbox 360

Hope some verizon technincal folks can help. Was thrilled to find out that Verizon had launched a tv app for multiple devices and last year downloaded it to my XBOX 360.  Loved the layout and picture quality is quite good. The only problem was that in the evening it would start buffering making it unwatchable. Called Verizon techinical support and they did not know anything about any issues. Kept telling me to unistall and reinstall and clear cache. Those did nothing to help. They also told me to call back when I was having problems and they would check the network and they would check it out and of course they said the network was up and running. Checked out the forums and found many folks having the same issue. Now my XBOX was wired to my router with a speed of 75/35. My speed tests gave me 80's over 40's.  I finally received a response from a verizon rep via facebook stating that the problem was with the network servers during peak times. He stated that the developmental team that was contracted by Verizon had no fix and were basically baffled.  Of course, the Xfinity app is flawless. He also told me that he was not allowed to officially say anything and was told to keep things quiet. I finally got tired of the smoke and mirrors and gave up on the app. Last week I bought a new 65" Samsung smart tv and behold there was the Verizon Fios TV App. Well I tried it out and **bleep** if it did not start buffering around 2100 hours.  Went to my XBOX 360 and the same thing.  Called Verizon again and after one hour on the phone, I received the same dance and pony show. I went today to buy a new Droid and told the salesman the story. He said he has a 360 and gave up on the app because of the buffering. He stated according to his sources that Verizon is quite aware of the problem. Two other guys chimed in and stated they had the same problem. One with a Samsung tv and the other with a LG tv.  Can someone give us a straight answer or get in touch with the team tasked to work on this app to get the skinny. I have no problem with the app being broken but admit to it. Take it down and fix it. Beta test it !  Thanks

Unfortunately, I think those of us still using a 360, got pushed aside when the Xbox One came out. I'd be surprised if we saw any new updates to the 360 app.

  • FiOS App on Xbox

I subscribed to Verizon FiOS local televison service about a year ago as it reduced my monthly bill by about the same amount that Verizon was raising my internet service only price to. In doing so I happened to stumble accross the FiOS App for the Xbox and have enjoyed about 80 channels. This past week however, my Xbox app has stopped working and it appears that I will now need to elect for the channels that I want to view. Has anyone else had experienced this issue or anything similar?

Thanks for reaching out to the community Xboxxed. Could you perhaps take a screenshot of what message it gives you? Have you tried reinstalling the app?  Also, have there been any recent changes made to your account?
    Thanks,
    ~FCN

  • Can't watch Verizon FiOS TV on iPad or Xbox 360

    Hi,
I have been on hold with Verizon support for over an hour now with no success. I am currently subscribed to both FiOS TV and Internet service but am unable to wach live TV on any external app after logging in with my account. The iPad app says "You are not subscribed to this channel. Error code: 102" on every channel, even those which I can currently watch on my set top box. I have the same problem trying to watch live TV on my xbox 360 with a gold subscription.
It seems like no one on the customer service line even knows what I'm talking about. I was asked if I downloaded the iPad app from the verizon website. Good one.

    Hello,
A few things for the iPad app:
    1) Have you checked to make sure that on your iPad you are accessing your Verizon FiOS residential account's wifi network?
If you are using a cellular network (data plan) for wifi, and not the wifi for the Verizon FiOS account for your internet at home then you can't access Live TV for the 'FiOS Mobile' app.
    2) Are you signing in with a subaccount and not the primary ID when using the FiOS Mobile app for the iPad?
    3) Try logging into verizon.com with your userid and password and then going to My Services - TV plan -- does it show your current FiOS TV plan?
    4) Have you tried deleting the app and re-installing the 'FiOS Mobile' app for the iPad from the Appstore and see if you get the same message?

  • Time Capsule, hardwired to TWO xbox 360's, and NAT issues.

    Hello All,
I currently have an older Linksys WRT54G (version 1.0 LOL) which has been working fine for years. I recently bought my son an XBOX 360 for Christmas and we went through the issues of NAT and Call of Duty, and basically I have become quite knowledgeable on this topic. I recently added a SECOND XBOX 360, as it became apparent that one would not do with three boys in the house (Plus COD is a blast on line).
So I created a second Live Account and got the two xbox's running online stably with NAT wide open on both. This required abandoning the Linksys Firmware and installing "Tomato" on the WRT54G. That works GREAT. No modifications were required for the rest of the network including...
Macbook by Wifi, Minimac Hardwired (ya ya wifi works but hardwire is better), Airport Express (used only to stream music to stereo in family room - from ANY PC/MAC running Itunes...Itunes is VERY NICE), HP printer with network adapter, 5 other PC's including a mix of VISTA, XP, XP Pro, and multiple IPHONES, A Palm Tungsten C, WII, DS and of course the two hard wired XBOXs. NO Problems. The Tomato configuration only required the modifications for the XBOXs specifically as the rest of the network settings were not change after the firmware update.
What am I interested in? I'd like to upgrade to a Time Capsule for several reasons. One Newer wifi, faster, two frequencies, backup space for growing Mac branch of our network, and as the internet sharing router. AND to be able to access the TC from the internet for file access anywhere! LOVE THAT FEATURE. This requires the TC to be the first device after the cable modem as far as I can tell at this point. (any input on this specific feature would be great).
So I want to configure the TC with the input from the Cable modem as the main distribution of the internet. Then from the other NETWORK ports connect to my 20 port router for the rest of the house, as well as to the other items currently connected at the site of the current LinkSys Router (Mac Mini, Sony TV).
Also I need to maintain the current XBOX set up with (as well as Wii) with full open NAT on both XBOXs.
My question: Anyone here currently using the TC for hardwired connectivity for an XBOX with XBOX live running with open NAT for TWO XBOXs?
The issues with NAT and TWO XBOXs is that you cannot simply use PORT FORWARDing or PORT Triggering to make sure that the traffic goes to the correct xbox. The XBOX uses specific communication ports and the ROUTER needs to keep the traffic flowing properly or you get disconnected or never get open NAT (must have for XBOX live and internet gaming). There are many write ups on using Port Forwarding for one XBOX and setting the second one in the DMZ, but this does not work all the time.
The "Tomato" firmware on the LINKSYS allows fooling the router into giving a 'pseudo static' ip address to the XBOX's by doing MAC address based reservation of an IP number and then letting the DHCP give the xbox an IP address. The MAC address based reservation makes sure that the XBOX always gets the same IP address which for some GD reason must be in order for the traffic to be routed to the correct device. (you can of course use the same MAC address reservation for any device on the network).
Second Question: For those using the TC AND a second WiFi Router to do WIRELESS connection to the XBOX - which device do you have configured as the main INTERNET sharing router? I have read hear what appears to state that the TC is the main router and the other WiFi the secondary. Thus the ROUTING is still being done by the TC and the other wifi device is being used simply as a WiFi Access point/switch. If this is the case would the firmware on the TC allow the proper routing for TWO XBOXs on the network?
    Thank you,
    Mike

The ports are 53, 80, 88, and 3074. Since you are trying to make two Xbox consoles use those ports and you are trying to connect to a server, what you need to do is to use Port Range Triggering. You can't use Port Range Forwarding since it will only set those ports into listening mode to the IP address you set it. So if you use Port Range Forwarding it will only be open/available to one console(the one using the IP address).
You need to use PORT RANGE TRIGGERING. Disable Port Range Forwarding and DMZ. You need to enable UPnP as well if your Linksys router have this option (other model doesn't have this option but it is said to be enabled in default settings according to their tech support).
To solve the lag problem set your MTU size to 1364. This settings will work even if you have one or multiple consoles running behind the router.
