Xbox Live and Playstation Network keeps lagging/dr...

I am starting to get really annoyed now at the fact that since Sunday the 2nd of November I have had constant problems with my BT Infinity lagging and dropping connection with my Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Their are other devices connected to my HH3 and they don't lose connection ever, they have just recently received slow speeds.
I have tried the usual restart the router etc many times and still nothing, I have an Open NAT on both consoles. So I know this is not the issue. I have read the forums a lot lately and noticed that other people in the North East of England are experiencing the same gaming problems as me.
All the service checkers state that everything is fine with my connection when it clearly isn't. I have spoke to someone at BT in the online support chat and they said they aren't trained to deal with this problem and are expecting me to pay on top of the £40 a month I am paying for the BT Infinity service I am not getting, in order for someone else at BT to have  a look at my problem.
I have seen somewhere on the forums that people have been told it is a Routing issue that will be fixed in 24 hours, the post was yesterday and still no fix as of yet.
Will someone at BT be able to tell me what the problem is exactly and when they are going to fix it?

  • Can't run Xbox live and computer at the same time

    I purchased a E3000 router for Christmas so we can run our new laptop, desktop, son's ipod, and the xbox live. At first, the only problem we had was that if a video or large page was downloading on the internet, xbox live would glinch and run very slow. Now, if someone's on xbox live and someone else turns on a computer, it boots them off xbox live. I don't know what the problem is. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    Is the Xbox connected to the wireless network?
    Try changing some advanced wireless settings on the router.
    Open the setup page of the router and go to Wireless tab. Click on Advanced wireless settings sub tab. Change the Beacon Interval to 75, RTS and fragmentation threshold to 2304. Save the settings.
    Click on Setup tab and change the MTU size to 1365. Save the settings and power cycle the router.
    See if that helps you.

  • XBOX Live and Time Capsule Configurations

    I've been searching now for just about an hour online, and unfortunately my head is spinning just a bit trying to figure out how to configure my XBOX Live with Time Capsule.  In order to allow for Open access (versus Moderate), it seems as though some manual configurations need to be made so the XBOX and Time Capsule play well together.  But the thing I am unable to figure out is...HOW DO I DO THIS?!  Specifically, what are the steps I must take to configure Airport and/or XBOX?  What information do I need from the XBOX?  I've been reading about port forwarding, which seems to be the solution, but I really am not familiar with how this is done on Time Capsule.  So for those of you with the know-how and patience to write a play-by-play for dummies from the very beginning to the point where all should work, I'd appreciate it.
    Just a quick insight to my network...I have Time Capsule connected to my ISP modem.  Thank you!

    And isn't the "host device" and "base station" the same thing?
    No, host device is the box that is the server you are trying to map to.. base station is the Airport Extreme as he is writing more to that market.. TC is the same though.
    Just port forward the standard ports for xbox live.. I do not believe all of these are necessary.
    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live/connecting/network-ports-used-xbox-live
    Xbox LIVE requires the following ports to be open:
    Port 88 (UDP)
    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 80 (TCP)
    Make sure you lock the IP of the xbox .. using dhcp reservations in the TC is the best but on the xbox will also work.. the rest should be straight forward.
    Tell us a bit more.. What model TC do you have? A1xxx from the base please??
    What is the ISP modem? Is it also a router.. if so consider hard using the router in the modem.. if it is upnp so xbox can work automagically .. rather than killing yourself mapping ports.. the advantage of upnp is more than one xbox can work on the same LAN.. you can never do this manually forwarding ports.
    What Airport utility are you running? Do you have access to v5 utility? If not I can give instructions to load it on Mountain Lion.
    What firmware is the TC on? Lots of issues with 7.6.3 ie the latest one.. so 7.6.1 is better alternative. Always and in some earlier TC then 7.5.2 is much better again.

  • WRT54G Can't play on xbox live and connect wirelessly to router or internet from comp at same time

    Hi guys.
    I have a WRT54G and since I have had it I havent been able to connect wirelessly to see my router or get online form my comp while my xbox 360 is on xbox live. My other computer though, which is wired, can connect online anytime wether the xbox 360 is on line or not. Any help would be nice.

    I have a similar problem to this. I do some online gaming, and while my roommates are playing XBOX live (which is a lot now that halo 3 came out) I cant even connect, and if i do connect i get such a high latency it is unplayable. I would also greatly appreciate any help on this issue.

  • XBOX live and Verizon FIOS clearing things up a bit here

    Interested? Call now to add an Xbox to your current service. Or, if you’re a new customer, you can sign up online here and take advantage of a special offer that includes triple-play service with FiOS TV, FiOS 35/35 Mbps Internet service and Verizon voice service, starting at $89.99 a month. The offer also includes a 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold Membership and the “Xbox Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary” game. Order now – the special offer is only available through Jan. 21.
    The FiOS TV app will become available for download next month.  We’ll be launching the service with 26 channels and we plan to add more.
    ok they aren't adding your xbox to your current service....New customer's are going to be able to take advantage of that new promo "a special offer that includes triple-play service with FiOS TV, FiOS 35/35 Mbps Internet service and Verizon voice service, starting at $89.99 a month.The offer also includes a 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold Membership and the “Xbox Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary” game. I believe this is online ordering only try to order it online instead of calling in as that is where I personally have been advised
    FiOS TV customers will have access to an app on their Xbox consoles, which will become available for download next month. Once customers download the Verizon FiOS TV app on their console, they can begin watching live streaming FiOS TV channels - without the need to pay for another set-top box. Initially, 26 FiOS TV channels will be available, depending on the customer's TV package
    Customers who order FiOS TV and Internet service will receive the "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" game and Xbox LIVE Gold Membership token within 30 days
    I hope that breaks it down a little bit for everyone

    I am trying gettin additional information regarding how the app is going to work and how it applies to your TV service as to what channels you will have..I'm sure that information will be available a few days before the app is released.

  • WRT610N, Xbox Live, Moderen Warfare 2 and nothing but trouble !!

    I have been having problems over the last few months with constant drop outs on Xbox live and now specifically MW2. I have tried every option I can think of in the settings (Xbox and Linksys WRT610N) but no luck. I thought I would share my story in hope that either I might be able to help someone with what I have learned so far or get lucky that someone might offer up a solution that I have not been able to work out yet.
    Let the story begin ......
    Issue: Can connect to Xbox Live but will drop me out of the middle of games (Halo, Live Arcade, etc), and especially MW2 only to bring me back into the same game with my score set back to 0 each time. This happens on every game and every mode. If I am the host of a game then it will boot everyone else out half way through the game, bring up a message that enimies are about to forfeit and then finally rejoin everyone with their scores all set back to 0.
    Back Story:
    Have tried 3 different routers (this one being the latest) the other was a top of the line Belkin and older Linksys model
    Have power cycled and reset and restored factory defaults on all many times.
    Have changed out the actual ethanet cables as well.....No luck
    Have 2 Xbox's in the House and both produce the same results.
    My Current Settings:10N
    Product = WRT610N
    ISP = Bellsouth
    Xbox360 = Hardwired
    NAT = Open
    PPPoE
    IP and DNS are both Manual........
    Entered in matching DNS1 & DNS2 into Xbox settings
    IP = Manual and sits with DMZ enabled and assigned the Xbox a manual IP address outside Router IP range at .200
    Port Forwarding on for 88 & 53 Both (Tried UDP Only) ....53 & 3074 Both
    MTU = 1452
    Even added in specific Xbox Mac address into the Router page...no luck
    Upnp: = Disabled......Tried it enabled as well
    Went into QoS in the Application and Gaming section of the Router to try and priortize all the Xbox Live and MW2 advanced ports above and below.
    Read on a forum post to try unchecking Filter Anonymous Internet Requests in the Security tab settings....no luck
    Called Xbox Live support..............Went to 2nd level tech twice.
    They said IW/Activision had given them specific port settings for MW2 that I could try. My intial thought was Houston we might have lift off:....Tried opening additional Ports based of 2nd Level Support:
    3658 = UDP
    3478 = UDP
    3075 = UDP
    443 = TCP
    5223 =TCP
    Unfortunately no luck !
    Next I tried reading another million posts and forums to no avail.
    Help please, please please

    I finally got it to work 10 min ago !!!!!!!
    Here is the issue so if others incounter the same problem you will have some potential options to explore.
    Having 2 Xboxes going through the Linksys Router to Xbox live is the issue. This is what you need to do in your settings.
    Make both Xbox IP's Automatic
    DO NOT USE Port Forwarding.............You must enter these in Port Range Triggering:
    Xbox Live port settings 80, 88, 53 & 3074
    Same for Modern Warfare 2 ports = 3658, 3478, 3075 & 443
    On the setup page enable Keep Alive: Redial Period  = 180
    MTU = 1364
    Disable Home Network Defender
    Enable Upnp
    Disable DMZ
    QoS = Enable Internet Access Priority and Add in the ports above and set to High
    Add in the Mac addresses of the two Xboxes (you can find these in the advance network settings of you Xbox)
    Hope this helps as I have been researching this fix for 2 months and spent 20+hours playing with settings to finally get this to work

  • Airport Express as wifi card for Xbox Live, then connect to Extreme network

    My son just got xbox Live and we're trying to use Airport Express as wifi card for xbox (connected to xbox via ethernet). We use Airport Extreme as router for the house.
    We're having trouble setting up Xbox Live, keep getting stuck at getting the xbox to communicate/access the web. Error reads "can't obtain IP address from router... make sure DHCP is enabled and has a large enough address range for all devices on network.. also make sure MAC filtering allows your console's MAC address or is disabled... "
    We dont' know what else to do. I'm at wit's end before giving Gates $100... Anyone know how to get connected?
    Thank you!

    You can also perform a simple test to verify if you have an internet connection at the ethernet port on the AirPort Express.
    Move a laptop near the Express, turn off the wireless on the laptop, and connect to the Express using an ethernet cable. See if you can open your browser and get a good solid internet connection.
    If you can, the Express is setup correctly and you know that you have an internet connection reaching all the way to the Xbox.
    If you can't then there is a configuration error somewhere and it will need to be identified and corrected.

  • XBOX ONE. I have the xbox one and the airport time capsule and cant connect to most xbox live games and zero parties. I have 0 experience in all this but somehow was able to change NAT to open but still wont connect. HELLLPPPP

    Okay folks, I need your help out there.
    So the nerdy side of me went and picked up the XBOX ONE on release day. Its awesome by the way, BUT..... I cant seem to connect to most xbox live games and absolutely ZERO parties. At first I just thought it was something to do with the xbox itself and would eventually fix itself, but i was wrong. After looking into it on microsoft, i found out that it had to do with my NAT settings on the airport itself. I guess apple and xbox are not compatiable for xbox live and it makes it difficult to have an open NAT setting and is a huge PAIN.
    I was able to pinpoint one that the airport time capsule was blocking the IPV6 something or another. Anyways, I unblocked that, and reset the modem and time capsule and jumped on the xbox and now have open NAT settings but still cant connect to multi-player.
    Upon further searching, i was told to uncheck the UPNP on my time capsule as well, but have no idea how to find that.
    I know it seems confusing, but thats the best i can describe it.
    tthanks all

    Be a long long time before I see an Xbox One.. but whoever told you to uncheck the upnp in the TC.. tell them their dreamin' .. upnp is not support by Apple in any computer or router, never has been.. Apple deliberately wrote their own version called NAT-PMP to do the same thing.. dynamically open ports at the request of an application or client computer.
    So there is nothing like that to uncheck.. and as a matter of interest.. there no box to check or uncheck for NAT-PMP either.. since apple do not believe in end user adjustment of settings.. they simply do not exist.
    You will have to manually forward all ports required by the Xbox via the TC. For multi-player games you probably need to open more ports than the standard to allow just xbox live. You will need to check the ports required and open them.
    OR
    Buy a standard vista UPNP compatible router.. and use that.. and simply put the TC in bridge in the network.
    I have not seen posts yet about xbox one.. but there are plenty about xbox and ps3 and the fact that Apple really doesn't give a hoot about games consoles.
    This is a good basic post for older xbox.

  • Question regarding WRT54G and XBOX LIVE

    I'm having trouble with XBOX live and when I called support they told me I had to change the ports on my Linksys from moderate to open...does anyone know how to do this?

    Here is a LINK that may help you.  I have never set up a Xbox but a lot has been posted in here about it.

  • Unable to consistently keep XBOX Live party with multiple consoles from same location.

    I have FIOS (Actiontec MI424WR Rev E with firmware 20.10.7.5) and am having problems staying in a party when running two XBOX 360 consoles.  Both Xbox's are connected to the router wirelessly.   We often like to crreate our own party (of 2) and play the same game (usually COD Black Ops).  The problem is we can both log into XBOX Live without problems.  However, if we create our own party (of 2) and play the same game we run into trouble.  The party may be fine for a random amount of time (minutes or hours), but then one of two scenarios happen.  We either get kicked out of the party and cannot rejoin it.   Or, we remain in the party, but but cannot play together in the same multiplayer map of the same game.  Usually, when this happens I can reboot the router (via the on/off switch) or I have to unplug it for 10 seconds and plug it back in and things work fine for another random amount of time.
    I've enabled UPNP and deleted the port forwarding rules for XBOX Live that were already present on the router.  In fact there are numerous port forwarding rules defined (by Verizon?) for games and other applications that I know I did not create nor do we use.   Anyway, with UPNP enabled, one XBOX has an open NAT while the other always has moderate.
    What else can I do to get multiiple XBOX 360 consoles to be able to join XBOX Live and stay in the same party, playing the same game.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I found a couple of postings of users with the MI424WR Rev E (firmware not specified) who simply turned on UpNp and were able to get multiple xbox 360s online at the same time via the same router.
    That got me to thinking...  I have an older Xbox 360 (circa 2007) that does not have WiFi built in.  So, I am using a gaming adapter that has been assigned a static IP.  My understanding is that UpNp requires DHCP and not static IPs.  So, I am wondering if the  game adapter with its static IP is causing the problem, even though the Xbox it is connected to does NOT have a static IP.
    Will be testing this theory tonight when I connect the Xbox directly into the router (no WiFi).  If that works than I will put the Xbox back where it normally sits and re-configure the game adapter to DHCP and give it a go.

  • Xbox Live wont connect

    Hey Guys wondering if you could help me.
    So basically the problem is when I connect to xbox live or the black ops 2 server from my Xbox everything on my network just lags and is unusable, even the game itself.
    Normally my connection is fine but today I boot my Xbox and then started to browse on my pc loading a few web pages like I normally do, The web pages failed to load. If I managed to get into a game on black ops I would just lag all over the place.
    I'm connected by Ethernet by the way.
    Now I have a ps3 with black ops 2 as well and it worked 100% fine when I played it. So I'm kinda confused. I'm sat now with it on connected to Xbox live and just sitting there with the dashboard up, So I'm guessing the problem starts happening when I connect to the multi-player servers.
    I've reset the router change some cables around, still nothing seems to fix it.
    I'm hoping this is just a 1 day thing.
    Any in put is great ...
    Thanks in advance.

    If you are getting amber light on bb connection try disabling the internet phone number bt give you and set for use by default. I think it starts with 05******. This is done by entering the router homepage and disconnecting the number, you will then be using your normal tel number line. I had same issue some time ago and did this to solve it. Bt help were useless.
    Also how far are you from exchange? Fibre or copper/aluminium? All these factors can affect lag. Time of day is also an issue as during peak times when everybody on net will lower available bandwidth per household.

  • Port Forwarding - XBOX Live & PS3

    Hello BT Forums!
    I am having trouble with my BTHomeHub 3, XBOX 360 & PS3. In my household we have both consoles, and we play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on both.
    Now, with the BTHomeHub3 on the "port forwarding" menu I am only allowed to select one either "XBOX Live" OR "PlayStation 3" not both, it just brings up an error saying I can only select one and to change I have to remove the other.
    I have my PlayStation 3 set with "PlayStation 3" port forwarding on the admin settings, but this puts the NAT settings on the XBOX to "Strict". Then if I take the port forwarding off the PlayStation 3 and set port forwarding for the XBOX it puts my PlayStation 3 NAT on "Strict". There is no winning!
    Is there anyway I can select both, without having to resort to DMZ (makes my connection unstable).
    Thanks!

    Hi dlmatthews and welcome to the forum, i've had the same issue, you can't port forward to both, I just DMZ my PS3 and port forwarded to my another PS3 in the household.

  • Xbox live experience

    Hi,
    Can anyoneon BT Infinity  tell me what their experience is with xbox live and in particular 1st person shooters like MW2 or Black Ops. I am currently with Virgin and their P2P throttling has completely ruined online gaming. Its super laggy and if your host (which you often are with the 5MB u/l speed) the game lobby is often terminated as the other players have terrible connection to you and awful lag.
    Thanks,

    My son doesnt have any problems with with MW2 etc since joing infinity at all on his XBox

  • Xbox live Airport issues

    My xbox live can't fine my airport express ip address, my lap tops do fine but not my xbox live got any ideas.

    Try the following ...
    On the AX:
    o Use the AirPort Utility to check the following settings:
    AirPort Menu
    o Jot down the AirPort Network Name. (Note: The AirPort Network Name is the same as the SSID used by the Xbox.)
    o Note your Wireless Security settings.
    AirPort Menu - Wireless Options
    o Note, whether or not, you have "Create a closed network" checked.
    On the Xbox 360:
    o System tab > Network Settings > Edit Settings
    o IP Settings: Automatic
    o DNS Settings: Automatic
    o Wireless Mode > Select Wireless Network (Note: If you had "Create a closed network" enabled on the AX, then you will need to select "Specify Unlisted Network" otherwise you should see the AX's AirPort Network Name.
    o Edit Wireless Security Settings (Note: You will have an opportunity to select your wireless security settings. They must match those set in the AX.) If you're not using wireless security, then select "No Security" from the list.
    o Apply Settings
    o Test Xbox Live and/or Test Media (This will run a series of tests to verify that your wireless is setup properly.)
