Xbox live experience

Hi,
Can anyoneon BT Infinity  tell me what their experience is with xbox live and in particular 1st person shooters like MW2 or Black Ops. I am currently with Virgin and their P2P throttling has completely ruined online gaming. Its super laggy and if your host (which you often are with the 5MB u/l speed) the game lobby is often terminated as the other players have terrible connection to you and awful lag.
Thanks,

My son doesnt have any problems with with MW2 etc since joing infinity at all on his XBox

  • How can I create a better Xbox live experience?

Hello, I currently am using an airport extreme to run my wireless home network. I used to have a great Internet connection for Xbox live because my ISP gives me great speed. Now after aquiring many devices (10 to be exact...iPads, iPhones, I touches, laptops) I have noticed the connection isn't where it used to be. Just a couple of days ago the family was gone so there was none of these devices stealing bandwidth from the Xbox and I noticed the connection was back to where it should be so I am confident that this is the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions to help solve the problem without simply eliminating all these devices from the network ( which simply isn't possible). I was thinking about creating a guest network and placing the Xbox on that wireless connection? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Unfortunately, using the Guest Network feature won't solve the problem as it has to share the same total bandwidth of the router.
You basically have two options: 1) Decrease the number of active network clients, or 2) Increase the bandwidth on the local network (LAN). To achieve the best LAN bandwidth, use Gigabit Ethernet connections between devices whenever possible or 802.11n 5 GHz only wireless.
If the wireless network requires supporting non-"n" clients, use a simultaneous dual-band AirPort and create two separate Network Names. Then connect the non-"n" clients to the 2.4 GHz band network; all others to the 5 GHz band.

  • XBOX ONE. I have the xbox one and the airport time capsule and cant connect to most xbox live games and zero parties. I have 0 experience in all this but somehow was able to change NAT to open but still wont connect. HELLLPPPP

Okay folks, I need your help out there.
So the nerdy side of me went and picked up the XBOX ONE on release day. Its awesome by the way, BUT..... I cant seem to connect to most xbox live games and absolutely ZERO parties. At first I just thought it was something to do with the xbox itself and would eventually fix itself, but i was wrong. After looking into it on microsoft, i found out that it had to do with my NAT settings on the airport itself. I guess apple and xbox are not compatiable for xbox live and it makes it difficult to have an open NAT setting and is a huge PAIN.
I was able to pinpoint one that the airport time capsule was blocking the IPV6 something or another. Anyways, I unblocked that, and reset the modem and time capsule and jumped on the xbox and now have open NAT settings but still cant connect to multi-player.
Upon further searching, i was told to uncheck the UPNP on my time capsule as well, but have no idea how to find that.
I know it seems confusing, but thats the best i can describe it.
    tthanks all

Be a long long time before I see an Xbox One.. but whoever told you to uncheck the upnp in the TC.. tell them their dreamin' .. upnp is not support by Apple in any computer or router, never has been.. Apple deliberately wrote their own version called NAT-PMP to do the same thing.. dynamically open ports at the request of an application or client computer.
So there is nothing like that to uncheck.. and as a matter of interest.. there no box to check or uncheck for NAT-PMP either.. since apple do not believe in end user adjustment of settings.. they simply do not exist.
You will have to manually forward all ports required by the Xbox via the TC. For multi-player games you probably need to open more ports than the standard to allow just xbox live. You will need to check the ports required and open them.
    OR
Buy a standard vista UPNP compatible router.. and use that.. and simply put the TC in bridge in the network.
I have not seen posts yet about xbox one.. but there are plenty about xbox and ps3 and the fact that Apple really doesn't give a hoot about games consoles.
This is a good basic post for older xbox.

  • Upgraded to extreme and can no longer connect to xbox live

My old airport express died so yesterday I bought an airport extreme to replace it. I had no problems setting it up, my powerbook and powermac connect to the internet just fine. My ps3, wii, and apple tv all connect fine. However I lost the ability to connect to xbox live with my xbox360. Running the "Test Xbox Live Connection" test shows that it passes all the tests and is connected to the internet until it reaches the xbox live test where it fails. According to xbox support there are no current outages or problems with my account.
Since the only thing which has recently changed is the upgrade from airport express to an extreme it seems like that is likely the problem. I thought it might be a NAT or port thing but in the airport setup utility there are no options for changing either NAT or port settings.
Any ideas anyone? It looks like a year ago when the extreme came out there were problems between it and the xbox, but it also looks like they were resolved. Also they caused the xbox not to be able to connect to the network at all, which mine can do.
Thanks very much for any ideas or help. Otherwise the extreme is going to have to go back.

    That's a drag.
I wish I could be more help, but I can not think of what the problem would be. I have mine connected to a network that bridges two AEBS to allow for a large area WIFI. I have no problems with either of the 360's connected. I have no special port forwarding or any settings changed to get the connection.
I also know that since I just replaced my main base station for an unrelated problem, that it worked out of the box both times.
I would say try direct connecting it. (the xbox) Not necessarily to correct the problem, but to isolate the AEBS as the problem. I would also try shutting down anything else that may be connecting so you only have a connection with your xbox. Again, none of this will probably solve your issue.... but you can get in contact with customer care or visit a genius bar.
In my experience if you can give detailed results to test you have already performed to trouble shoot, they are very receptive to replacing your product. Isolating the AEBS and saying you know t will connect direct, and that even when it is the only device connected.... it fails. I would also try both wireless and wired if you have both options.
I know it is not the optimal answer.... probably a pain.... but sometimes things just work kinda goofy. I know the stuff works and works great when it does... but I have had my share of issues with apple hardware. The good news is they have never failed me when it comes to taking care of it.
    Good Luck !!!

  • Home Hub 3 (type A) compatibility with Xbox Live a...

Just got a new Bt Broadband activated a couple of days ago.
All set up nice, getitng a 8mb download speed which is good for our area.
2 laptops, 1 PC, and a wireless printer all set up using wifi. All good.
Even managed to get Xbox Live connected via wifi.
BUT - when updating any software or games on the XBOX, what used to take seconds is now taking hours!
I even tried my old Dlink router on the new BT Broadband, and it all works fine, but as soon as my Home Hub 3 (type A) is connected, the software updates to the xbox take an age.
    All other connections seem fine.
Is it true that Home Hub 3 type 'B' is the best one for using with Xbox Live?
If anyone's had this exact same issue, and managed to solve it - please tell me how.
    Thanks

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Seems to be the same.
The only thing worse (so far) is the BT customer services team. I spent over 3 hours on the phone with various people from BT yesterday. Only when I threatened to cancel the contract did anyone take me seriously.
I really wish I'd stayed with my previous broadband provider.
What I'd like to know is how to resolve this issue - preferably from someone who's had similar experience to mine. I'm not going to go through a troubleshooting process yet again. My HomeHub 3A is simply not compatible with connecting wirelessly with any significant speed to my xbox, nor to my android mobile phone.
I have run every possible check on our line and home network.
The only variable that causes this problem to re-emerge is the Home Hub 3 (type A) which I was sent 2 days ago.

  • Instablity on Xbox live

I have been on BT homehub for the last12 months witha 1.2mb connection, recently i havehad major issues with online gaming.I can connect to live fine and i have never had any NAT problems.I can play games for 2-3 hours fine then all of a sudden i experience MAJOR lag issues.
I have to reset the hub at least 2-3 times and turn on and off xbox live application sharing till i get a stable connection for playing games?
My question is can i set up the router settings in anyway to stop me constantly reseting? has anyone else experienced this?
At the moment i play Bc2 and Black ops,but i never really had this issue with MW2.
At all times my laptop/pc connections are fine and stable and rarely cause me any issues, and for gaming my upload/download is capped on each other device toensure i have the nessecary bandwidth available.
    any help welcomed

  • BT INFINITY lag spike on xbox live with WIRED conn...

    hey.
im looking for some advice/support with regards to my infinity service on xbox.
for the last 4 days, whilst playing online i experience constant disconnections, kicking from xbox live parties and ingame lag constantly.
now ive raised a fault with bt, and they claim all is fine on their end. now ive reset my router about 5 times.. the nat is open and i am on a wired connection. i even tried my home hub 3 to replace the 4 and same problem prevails
im at a loss as to what to do anymore, it is impossible to play on a connection, and paying for a service when it suddenly decides to turn this way has puzzled me completely.
i've tried to port forward etc, but that doesnt seem to work..
can anybody offer any advice as to what to do?
could it be a temporary problem, or what can i do to fix it.
if i get an engineer out, itll cost, but the fault isnt on my end.
i've problem solved everything to my knowledge so far, and no luck
    any help welcome.
    thanks.

at first i was told their was a fault, then i was told it was fixed, then there wasnt a fault?
i asked them about routing and they didnt understand my accent (geordie) so im on the chat now.
this needs to be sorted though, how am i supposed to get good on this new cod!

  • Xbox live on a mac

I tried to hook up my xbox with my mac. I use a verison dsl connection and I did all that the xbox requires to connect on its troubleshooter. It asks for my ip address which doesnt work but the automatic settings do. Then it asks me for my dns and I put in mine and that doesnt work along with the automatic settings. Does any1 know what I have done wrong? Can someone help me who has experience with hooking up xbox live to a mac?

You don't need boot camp or an emulator, just follow the guide on this website: http://www.slightlyremarkable.com/2006/04/xbox-live-via-mac

  • Why?  xbox live doesn't connect to Airport Extreme wireless network

Xbox live wireless adapter is not connecting to my wireless network. xBox live support said to change to WEP security (does not support WPA security). Tried this but it doesn't work either. I can't find any information on Apple support or xBox live support that confirms whether or not the router is even compatible with xbox live. Does anyone know or have experience with this?

Go to your computer and run the Airport Utility. Click on the Manual Setup button. In the tabs you'll see Summary, Base Station, Wireless, etc. Select Wireless. Look about 1/2 way down and you'll see Wireless Security. Click on the popup button and select None. At the bottom of the window click on Update. You'll go offline momentarily as the base station is updated. Now go back to your XBox and connect. Now download all the updates you can.
Once this is finished, go back to the base station and repeat the steps except set the security to WPA and see if your XBox will connect. If not, set the airport for WEP and see if that works.

  • New Fios G1100 and Multiple Xboxs Connected to xbox live issues.

I just upgraded my router from the Actiontec MI424WR to the G1100. Now I am into an issue with Fios keeping a connection to xbox live on selected xbox devices. I have 3 xbox 360 and 2 xbox one connecting to the network. Both Xbox One maintain solid connection to live, but the 360 experience I have a totally different experience. My set up has 1 Xbox One Wired, 1 wireless. I have 2 xbox 360 wireless and 1 wired. I am also experiencing problems with one of my desktops which is wired that randomly loses a connection to internet. I been using this TRENDnet 8-Port 10/100Mbps GREENnet Switch (TE100-S80G) to help with wired connections. Both Xbox Ones on the network remain connected at all times, or at least I haven't seen a drop. My experience with my xbox 360s are completely different from my Xbox One.They all drop connection randomly every 5 to 20 min. I can immediately sign back in , but this continuosly happens. I was able to get one xbox 360 to maintain a continuous connection by putting it IP address and enabling DMZ on it. I have tried port forwarding but that doesn't work. Anybody have any suggestions or solution? Or should I just shipped back the G1100 and go back to Actiontec MI424WR.

    Who is your ISP...?
Are you getting any error message...?
Try the following settings and check..
Open the router setup page,On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox
    IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox
Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...

  • Haven't received code for $25 Xbox Live credit towards Titanfall Season Pass

A few days ago at a Best Buy store, I pre ordered the Titanfall Season Pass for Xbox One by paying for $25 in Xbox Live credit that would eventually be emailed to me on release day, March 11 (today). I haven't recieved the code yet which is very odd, since last year I pre ordered the Bioshock Infinite Season Pass in store and the XBL credit code came 30 min. to an hour after midnight on launch day. I don't know if this is normal, hence my last experience, but if anyone could help it would be gladly appriciated. I still have the original store receipt which I'm pretty sure can help. Thanks!

    Hello ShadowJumper117,
Thank you for choosing Best Buy to pre-order the Titanfall Season Pass! I’m really sorry that this experience hasn’t been as smooth as your last one, but I should be able to get this code for you. I was able to locate your transaction by using the email address attached to your forum account. It looks like the code was sent today, but to ensure you get this I will send you a private message with some additional information as well. • Using a Mac laptop and Airport to get on to Xbox Live

There are numerous threads floating about on this though most didn’t seem to work for me however I have managed to get this working and thought it may be useful to share my technique.
FYI I am using an early 2008 MBP 2.4 running OS X 10.5.2
    1. Connect your laptop using an Ethernet cable to your Xbox 360.
    2. Open System Preferences -> Sharing and enable Internet Sharing; ensure that you select Share Your Connection from Airport using Ethernet.
    3. Now select System Preferences -> Network -> Airport and click on Advanced. Select DNS and copy down the two DNS Server numbers there. (Other guides suggest that when you enter the DNS number on your Xbox that you use your IP Address however this didn’t work for me.)
    4. Open Terminal and type in “ifconfig en0” Copy down your inet number.
    5. Switch on your Xbox and navigate to the Network settings menu -> Edit Settings.
    6. Manually enter the following data into the fields:
    a. Under the IP address enter your inet number but increase the final digit by one. I.E. if your inet number was 192.168.2.1 change this to 192.168.2.2
    b. Under Subnet Mask enter 255.255.255.0
    c. Under Router/Gateway enter the inet number as it was initially. I.E. 192.168.2.1
    d. Once you’ve entered these numbers select done, a window will pop up and ask if you want to test these settings. Select Test Xbox Live. A second window will require your permission to sign out, select Yes and run the test.
    e. Move onto the DNS settings and manually enter the Primary and Secondary DNS Server numbers which you got earlier.
    f. Follow the instructions as in step d.
    g. You should now be able to connect to Xbox live.
I hope you can follow my instructions and if used, I hope it works for you too.

Move or copy the iTunes library from the old computer to the new computer.
iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.

  • Question regarding WRT54G and XBOX LIVE

I'm having trouble with XBOX live and when I called support they told me I had to change the ports on my Linksys from moderate to open...does anyone know how to do this?

Here is a LINK that may help you.  I have never set up a Xbox but a lot has been posted in here about it.

  • Been complaining about lag on xbox live for a year and Verizon is now ignoring me.

For the past year and a half I have been complaining to verizon about the horrible xbox live service I am getting. They keep telling me there is nothing wrong. I have tried four different routers(verizon and non-verizon with updated firmwares), tried both coax and ethernet, switched every ethernet line twice, played on a 5 foot cable in my garage, had my ont switched, and my fiber re-spliced. Verizon claims nothing is wrong and have tried to get me to stop complaining by telling me "fios is too fast for xbox because games are designed for high latency connections and because fios has no latency slower connections can't keep up so it feels laggy." I posted that response on a xbox gaming forum and promptly had 10 people tell me FIOS runs great on their xbox.
So obviously the problem lies beyond my network and verizon is doing nothing to fix it. I have had a technician come out at least six times and all they run is a speed test. I am getting the speed I am provisioned at but ALL my xbox live games are unplayable online. I believe the problem lies in the first public hop outside because when I run a line quality test,(https://secure.dslreports.com/pingtest) I get an error that says  "50ms or more latency between your ip address and your first public internet hop could certainly be bettered with a quality connection"
Just to be sure it wasn't unique my house I walked around my neighborhood and found 2 open wifi networks that were on FIOS and ran the same test. Both of them came back with the same error as me and both had the same first hop as me. To make sure that error wasn't normal for FIOS users I asked those poeple on the xbox live forum to run the test and tell me the results. Every single one of them passed the first hop test and had nearly half the latency, (Here are a few of them) I supplied this information and now they are ignoring me.
Is there any mod or technician here that can provide me with contact information for someone who will look into and fix this problem for me? I believe I have provided significant proof that this problem is not in my network and calling an 800 number and opening a ticket does not help. I have been complaining for a year and a half and nothing has been done. I have lost practically all my xbox live friends because of this and would like to be able to play now that I have more free time. A phone number or email would be great. BTW I am in orange county, CA if that helps.
    Thx
