XCELSIUS-Comoponent Spreadsheet-table: formatting cells

Hi,
I don't see how to format Cells in a spreadsheet-table. For instance right right-justified. I would expect in the table the same format as defined in the excel-sheet. But spreadsheet-table doesn't care at all about these definitions in the EXCEL-Sheet. I used the template "Income sheet", and didn't succeed here either. What is the trick?
Best regards,
Alfred

Hey Alfred, you are right there is an issue with this component ..you need to re-align the component every time you make changes in the back end excel table. To get more info on this you can go through this article...

  • Currency format in Spreadsheet tables uses period's instead of comma's

Xcelsius 2008 SP3.  I have inserted a spreadsheet table into my model, the columns are formatted in a currency format with $ and the thousand's separator that is displaying in the table is a period instead of a comma.  Has anybody else seen this problem?

    Hi,
yes, I`ve had the same behavior. As a workaround, you have to change the format of the cells.
Go into the properties of the cells:
    -> Right mouse click
    -> format cells
    -> category
    -> number
-> change something, e.g. the number of decimal places to show
Then you will have to map the component again to the same cells under "Display Data".
And now, the currency information will be shown correctly.

  • 'Spreadsheet Table' component formatting

    Hi,
I have an excel "block" of data that is formatted to the client's expectation. Is it possible to capture those specific formats using the Spreadsheet Table Component (or some other)? It appears that most of my formats are lost, especially the "Wrap Text".
Is there a way to wrap text using the Grid, List View, or Spreadsheet Table modules on Xcelsius 2008 SP3?
    Thanks in advance!
    -Phil

I dont think you can do this with any other component except Spreadsheet one. Try playing more with the spreadsheet table component
the only way i can think of is if you can delete all the text in that block of data and map the spreadsheet table on that - by doing  this you will have the basic structure of that block of data and then you can use lables to do the formatting
    hope it helps

  • Wrong format for spreadsheet table, list view, label component

I have a movie which is connected to a web service.  The web service feeds into cells that are linked to a spreadsheet table component.  The cells are properly formatted in excel and the fields show up fine when using static data.  However, once I pull in data in preview mode or with a published movie the cells lose the desired format.  I tested this with other components such as list view and label and get the same result.  I do not see the same results with the mouse over values in a chart though.  Anyone know what might be the problem?
    Thanks for the help

    Thanks for the response Andy.
The fields I use have the same uniform format so there is no dynamic formatting going on.  I have read up on the rebind fix and have tried it but it doesn't seem to change things.
Here are the specifics of my situation.  I paste some sample data returned from a query into the excel sheet.  One of the fields is a percentage so I format those cells appropriately and the excel sheet reflects the change.  I then bind the spreadsheet component to the cells containing the sample data.  The percentage field is properly displayed on the canvas as well as when I go into preview mode.  I now feed the cells with the sample data with a web service that uses the same query I used to generate the sample data.  In preview mode the percentage cell now is unformatted and shows up looking like a decimal number.  The same situation occurs for a label component bound to a single percentage cell.  I even configure the label component to format the text as a percentage.

  • Table Problems (Cell Shading and Default Format from EDD and Template)

I have two problems related to tables using Structured FrameMaker (Version 10), whilst in-processing XML.
I've designed two different table formats in my Template; Format A with black shading - 30% for THead and 3% for row, and Format B with blue shading - 30% for THead and 3% for row.
If I create a structured document from scratch and insert a table, I get the required Black (30%) and Black (3%) shading.   If I then insert an informaltable, I get the required Blue (30%) and Blue (3%) shading.
Although I've given the two table types different default formats in the EDD - Format A for table and Format B for informaltable - when I open the XML file (normally) from within FrameMaker I notice that all the tables default to Format A (black shading).   When I then import my EDD table should stay as Format A and informaltable should change to Format I.   This doesn't happen; they all stay at Format A.
I can change informaltable by manually applying Format I, this worksI.  Obviously, with long documents which might have hundreds of tables we can't afford the time and manpower to do such things one at a time by hand.
Do any of the Structure gurus have a fix for this, or can someone give me a hint of what I might be doing wrong?
The second, but related question was a general one.   I see that Adobe says
    "Tables
FrameMaker table formats are only partially integrated with the structure model. The content of
a FrameMaker table is always fully structured, but the control over cell border ruling is limited and
there is no structure format control over cell shading."
I believe it could be useful to apply cell shading on an individual cell basis (although I'm not sure whether this is possible at the XML level - where someboddy might give an element an attribute of, say, shading (with options, such as, green, red, blue, yellow all at, say, 30%, with a default of red, for example.
I've seen that there has been mention of plugins to achieve cell shading in structure; does anyone have an experience with such things, more to the point, can anyone point me in the right direction?   I don't mind paying fo a solution which I can implement myself.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Regards
    Chris

    Hi,
could you please provide some details on the EDD, RWR and some example XML?
My wild guess goes into the direction of the RWR not containing enough information that get written out into XML.
We're using table formatting with shaders too (using an attribute to control the specific formatting of each table) and it works like a charm in FM9 and FM11 when roundtripping.
The context rules are used in the table group (i.e. tgroup element). This might already solve the issue .

  • How to straddled cells in a table format

    Hello,
I've created a table format where the header straddles two columns and I've saved it every way I can think of(Update All, Global Update Options, etc.) but when I insert a new table using the format, it comes in with the header split into two cells.
How can I have a table format that inserts a table with a header that straddles two cells?
I'm running FrameMaker 8 on Windows XP Professional.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Straddled cells are not stored as part of the table formats.
If you need to use the same custom table, you can set up a sample table that you copy/paste from another document, from the same document (reference page), or use the AutoText plug-in (http://www.siliconprairiesoftware.com).

  • Spreadsheet tables not displaying properly

Ok.  So I have finally managed to get my dashboard working.  I have one issue that has cropped up.  Before preview, my spreadsheet tables are displaying the ranges I am asking them to do, along with hiding unused cells.  When preview runs, Xcelsius throws out the formats I specifically set the components up to do.  I get a partial result of one piece of data, and a whole lot of "N/A"
Is there some setting I am missing?  I am scratching my head as to why it works before preview, but not after?  I can send over my work, if someone wants to see what I am seeing.
    Thanks!

Ok.  So I switched up to the List View Component.  Again, before preview, the model is doing exactly what I am asking it to do.  When the selector in the Accordion menu changes to a new investment, the other components that have to change are doing so.  However, when the preview is run, the List View components are STILL breaking formatting and retuning a "#N/A" in all cells but the first row.
Why is Xcelsius doing this?  I have checked my excel functions.  They work.  I have checked my links to the components.  They work.  I have checked the spreadsheet tabs with the related data tables.  They work.  There is NOTHING to explain why this damned program is deciding to give the finger to my components and not work on preview.
Please.  I need help with this.  I really am at a loss to understand why this is happening, and I am getting pretty angry about the decision to utilize this software.

  • Copy table formatting

I am converting old PageMaker files to InDesign files. It appears to copy the data over properly, just that the tables are really wacky when it comes to formatting. It makes huge gaps between the cells, and i have to go resize each cell.
My question is, is there a way to copy a tables formatting to another table? Mainly font, font size, and cell size?
Table and Cell styles appear to do nothing.

Thanks Wayne - I've been working on my AppleWorks to Numbers comversion  using the Apple key - D method to duplicate tables.
I do have to retype column headers (these change for each table)
If I could paste formatting, I could copy the entire table from imported spreadsheet, paste formatting, and Wah-Lah.
Oh, Well the Apple Key - D method (re-entering column heads - type once and then Ctrl-C & a bunch of Ctrl-Vs) is WAY easier than reformatting each table manually.
Only slightly painful to have to re-enter all the cell references for the summed-column totals in the sub-tables into the main table
I've been using the same spreadsheet (w/ minor tweaks from year to year) for the past 12 years... it ain't broke & I'm grumpy about fixing what Apple broke - computers are such timesavers... sigh

  • Cfspreadsheet breaks Excel's "Format Cells..." functionality?

    Hi everyone,
I am working on moving a CF7MX project to CF10 and one of the changes involve updating some code used for generating csv files so that it makes use of the CF spreadsheet functions.  One thing I noticed was that I can no longer use the "Format Cells..." functionality with xls files generated with the CF spreadsheet functions.
If I try it with any other file it works like a charm, but with these CF generated files clicking on the button shown above does nothing.  Is this a already bug known by Adobe? Is there a way to make this work?
    Regards,
    Miguel Arvelo

    Hi Riddhi,
When you preview the dashboard in Xcelsius, Flash is used and SWF file gets created; however, snapshot shows you the excel data.
The issue could be specific to Excel version or the data coming from web service need to be checked.
Can you simply hardcode some date values in Excel (without taking them from web service) and try to change their format? Does it work fine. It help to understand on exactly the problem exist.
I would also suggest you to check the format coming from the Web - service. In order to do so, you can use some third party tools like Fiddler or Charles Debugger.
    Hope it will help.

  • How can I convert my css code into table format?

Wasn't sure how to word the title, but what I am trying to do is post my html code generated with Dreamweaver CS4 into craigslist for an advertisement I designed. Craigslist seems to only accept "TABLE FORMAT".  I just learned enough to design this AD using css, now do I have to go back and learn table cell coding? Is there something I am not aware of like a conversion or something that will work?
Thank you very much for any help, I am very anxious to get my ad placed.

    Example of the accepted code:
    <table border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" width="100%" id="table4" align="center">
    <tr><td width="125"><b><font size="2" face="Verdana">Contact Name:</font></b></td><td><font face="Verdana" size="2">Patrick</font></td></tr>
You must have an old HTML editor because that isn't INLINE CSS CODE.  It's deprecated HTML code.  It might work OK on Craig's List... but <font> tags won't pass W3C validation in XHTML doc types.
To express what you have above using inline CSS styles without tables would like this:
    <p style="font:16px Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif; text-align:center"><strong>Contact Name:</strong> Patrick</p>

I have tables in an Adobe Reader 9.2 file that need to be placed in a word document.
When I copy the table and paste it into the word document I loose all table formating and am left w/just text--and, not in the right places, I might add.

The only thing that comes close is to use the Snapshot tool (from the Tools Menu) and copy the entire table and paste it, but it treats it as a graphic (picture) and you can no longer edit cells.

  • Get-rid of the format we get using Get-ADuser in a CSV. Send CSV data in an email in table format

    Hi,
I am using get-ADuser in order to extract a few AD attributes of some users. I export the users and their respective attributes to a CSV. However, the output in CSV i get has the following format in each cell for its AD attribute.
    @{description=<Value>} or @ { info=<Value>}
I have tried to use Expandproperty switch in order to get rid of it but it does not accept null values and hence if a user has no value for a said attribute, the previous value is copied for that user too. However, without expand property it gives me the
    above format in the output.
    $Desc = Get-ADUser $Username -Properties description | select description
I would like the cells to contain only values and not this format along.
Also, once I have the CSV with values I would also like to copy the values from CSV in an email in the form of a TABLE. I have been able to copy the content in an email using the following however, this in not in a table format.
    $mail = Import-Csv $newlogonfile | Out-String

  • Mif template problem with table formatting

I am trying to create a database driven Framemaker document via MIF. I have a problem trying to get my table formatting to work. The table tags and paragraph tags appear correctly in their respective designers but the values shown for font, shading, etc. are Frame defaults and not from my template unless I click on the tag drop down, reselect the same exact tag name and click apply. Any ideas on where I'm going wrong?
Here is a snippet of the MIF for the main file:

Actually that does make sense to me (and I hate to say it, I remember now that I ran across this issue a million moons ago when first doing MIF export from a database).
In looking at the MIF includes order, in your first example:
    include (AFrames.mif)
    include (Tbls.mif)
    include (template.mif)
all of the tables are being instantiated before FM has a chance to "analyze" the template section -- so there's no way it can say "aha, this is the FormatA that I already know" so that's why it puts the "star" on the format, indicating that it's an override to the table catalog format (and in fact there's no table format catalog yet, no table format names at all, so it's an "override to nothing" table.
In your successful document, the template includes the format for "FormatA", so when the tbls section comes along FM says "ah, ok, this is an instance of "FormatA" that I know already exists in the table catalog" so assuming there aren't any formatting changes in the instance of the table, it doesn't mark each table instance as a override to the named table format.
    "include (aframes.mif)"
    "Include (template.mif)"
    "include (tbls.mmif)"
