XCode 4 package corruption?

I am trying to install XCode 4 from the Mac App Store (MAS?), and it seems to have downloaded fine. But when I go to install it, it says it can't install because there is a .pkg file that is not in the correct format. Any ideas?
There is 65gb free.

If you can find an MD5 hash of the correct install image and compare to the hash of your downloaded image, you could determine any errors, or just redownload?

if some body know this problem, please help me to resolve my problem :(

It is due to a connection manager being deleted.
Oftentimes fixable by introducing it back. Sometimes the package even runs successfully even w/o it.
But if you can create a new package anew.

  • [useless, SOLVED] Pacman shows package corrupted while upgrading

I pacman -Syu'ed my system after a week & there was these error of cyclic dependancy while installing gcc package. So, I issued this command:
    sudo pacman -S gcc gcc-libs gcc-ada gcc-fortran gcc-objc libtool
While instaling, it showed that gcc's package is corrupted.
But, later I tried installing it using
    sudo pacman -U gcc-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-libs-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-ada-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-fortran-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-objc-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz libtool-2.4
    and it installed correctly.
It seems like local repo had the wrong md5 of the gcc package. How come?

  • Random package corruption

    Hello,
I'm trying to install Arch x86_64 with the 2012/08 ISO, but every time I try to install the packages, pacman says some of them are "invalid or corrupt (PGP signature)". If I re-download them, some other random packages become corrupt! I have already tried 3 different mirrors, disabling signature check, even installing it to the live environment (instead of to the hard disk), restarting the modem/router, trying another day, and nothing works.
This is a very odd situation:
    The packages seem to download just fine;
    ifconfig shows no corrupt or lost packets;
    I have another machine with Arch Linux, and it always updates nicely;
    I have installed many times the "stress" package in the live environment, and it never became corrupt;
I had Linux installed in this very machine 2 years ago. Only difference is, now I have a fake RAID stripe of 2 disks and a Radeon HD 6970 card, which I'm 99% sure has nothing to do with anything. But then again, computers (also, users) don't really need a logical reason to fuck things up.
    So, any suggestions?
ALSO! In the phrase "I had Linux installed in this very machine 2 years ago", is it correct to use "had" or "have had"? Can someone explain me this, please?
Last edited by JohnTH (2012-08-09 16:18:32)

Have you checked the disks? (I was also going to mention RAM as I saw something similar a few months ago but if it isn't that, something else hardware?)
"I had a hat with three corners when I was a child." [I don't have that hat now.]
"I have had this bike for several years." [I still have it now.]
"I had no luck installing Arch." [And I've given up trying.]
"I've had no success installing Arch." [But I'm probably still trying or at least considering it.]
"I've had no luck getting the elves out of my laptop so far." makes sense (except for the elves).
"I had no luck getting the elves out of my laptop so far." doesn't really make sense though people would know what you meant (even if they thought you were a bit touched).
If you want a proper grammatical explanation, though, you'll have to ask somebody who learnt English as a second language (or teaches it). I can't tell you _why_!

  • Help w/ upgrade (corrupt) CS4 - CS 5.5 ; MSOffice 2007 - 2010

    Hello:
I recently conducted a LONG phone-based support incident, and I have reviewed the many KB articles on my topic(s) but I still have some questions.
    ISSUE:
I need help with uninstalling & cleaning up CS4 in order to cleanly install CS5.5, coincident with a planned upgrade from Office2007 to Office2010 on a Win7(x64) SP1 PC.  I use fully-licensed educational versions of Adobe CS & MS Office products.
In particular, I need to know if I should upgrade Office2007 to Office 2010 BEFORE uninstalling CS4 and installing CS5.5, or the other way around?
    Background:
    1) Several weeks ago, Adobe PDF Printer in Acrobat 9 of my long-standing, fully-patched CS4 install inexplicably disappeared from my system.
    2) TMAVLSS, After several long weeks of phone assistance with escalated Tech Support, including attempts to repair the PDF printer, reinstall it, uninstall drivers, reinstall it again, etc we were unsuccessful.  Failure was ultimately attributed to "core driver package" corruption.
    3) All other components of CS4 have continued to work just fine, including Acrobat, as well as scanning to pdf from my HP printer, "saving" Word docs as pdf.  But I have been getting by without Adobe PDF Printer.
    4) It was suggested that we completely uninstall CS4 and reinstall it.  Since I knew CS5.5 was soon to be released, I opted to wait.
    5) I now have a boxed educational version of CS5.5 and a licensed, educational DVD of MSOffice 2010 Pro.
    6) So I think I have everything to proceed, but I am a bit uncertain about the correct sequence to do this.
    7) One other wrinkle is that KIS2012 has just been released.  Upgrade will require that I first uninstall KIS2011.
    Questions:
    1. Should I perform the Office upgrade first, or should I upgrade Adobe CS first?
    2. I assume, given the unresolved issues with the Adobe PDF Printer in my Acrobat 9 component of CS4, that I should perform a complete uninstall of CS4 & perhaps all Adobe Products (Including Adobe AIR), then run the CS4-5 removal tool, and only then attempt to cleanly install CS5.5?
    3. Would it be advisable -- to avoid potential subtle AV or firewall issues -- to perform the Office and CS upgrades with KIS uninstalled (taking into account the requisite security considerations)?
If Adobe staff monitor this board, and if they would like the details/case number of my recent extended Tech Support incident, please let me know, and I will provide it via PM.
In the interim, I most certainly appreciate your assistance and advice!
    RM

    Hello, mylenium:
    Thanks for your reply.
Kindly indulge my concern about this.
I am not a computer geek, but I have been working with PCs long enough to know that it often helps to plan ahead.
I am just looking to get a clean, uncorrupted install of CS5.5 DS Educational, with minimal risk.
Adobe CS is a LARGE, complex package, deeply integrated into the OS and other programs, and installation of which has been troublesome from time to time over the years.
And it has certainly cost me countless hours of frustration recently, trying to resolve the PDF Printer mess, especially since TS ultimately left my system in worse shape than it was when I first called.
I am not looking for guarantees or assurances.
I am really just looking for answers to my original questions.
(As far as the security stuff is concerned, I have the info I need on that from another source.)
    So:
    1) You say, "you will have to run the Cleaner Tool eventually", but do not say at what point in the process. I assume I will need to follow the tutorial posted in the Help section of the CS web site.
    2) You say, "...None of that has anything to do with Microsoft's apps".  Could you please tell me, though, whether I should perform the Office upgrade FIRST, or the Adobe CS5.5 upgrade FIRST?
    3) I am confused by the "dumb file overwrite process" you mention.  If I will be UNinstalling CS4 and running a cleanup tool prior to cleanly installing CS5.5, what files would remain to be over-written? (I am not planning an in-place upgrade from CS4 to CS5.5.)
Thanks very much for your patience and consideration,
    daledoc1

  • [iPhone] XCode png-compression messes with alpha

When XCode bundles an iPhone application, it converts all .PNG resources into a non-standard format. This compression seems to be reduce precision of the alpha-channel of my .PNGs which causes artifacts in my application. Does anyone know if there is any way to get control over this behavior?

I have the exact same problem. XCode will convert PNG images so that the header chunk is CgBI (instead of IHDR), and that confuses 3rd party libs like libpng, since a character in Apple's header indicates that the data is in a private format. This operation only takes place for the target device - the simulator is unaffected. There are 4 ways to work around the issue (from easiest to hardest).
    1) Rename your images to something else (eg. .ppng), and the XCode packaging tool will ignore your file.
    2) According to the following link (http://www.imgtec.com/powervr/insider/sdk/KhronosOpenGLES1xMBX.asp), you need to add the following build settings defintion for each target. IPHONEOPTIMIZEOPTIONS=-skip-PNGs I'm embaressed to say that I still haven't figured out where in XCode project settings to add this.
    3) Teach your PNG decoder to handle Apple's CgBI format.
    4) Use the Cocoa UIImage classes or the Texture2D.m class.

  • Programming for the mac without using xcode

    Hi
I'm very new to programming for Apple platform. I wanted to clear some doubts which is currently standing as a barrier in getting started.
Can I use a text editor (preferably TextMate), Interface Builder, and the Terminal (without using xcode to write & compile) to develop software for the Mac. I have installed the xcode package (~900 mb image).
Can you point me to some resources on terminal commands for compile, debug codes for the mac. (Obj-C, Cocoa api)
    Thank You.

You can use anything you want to develop software for the Mac. In fact, I always encourage people to start out with tutorials and examples using standard UNIX command line tools like vi and gcc. There are plenty of such getting started tutorials for UNIX and Linux.
At some point, however, the command line is going to get cumbersome. You may want go start writing true Mac applications instead if command line tools. Then it will be time to start with Xcode.

Actually. I think the Xcode Installer Launcher.app really is just for GUI only.
I found the actual XcodeTools.mpkg file in /Packages/XcodeTools.mpkg on the disk image. Only problem is that fails too. This is the dump log from the installer. Individual installation of these packages fails as well.

  • [SOLVED]package integrity check fails

I recently ran a pacman -Syu so it downloaded all the files I wanted but when it went to install the packages, the integrity check failed at opera, the error I got was: http://pastebin.com/m447d9848
my questions are, what is the problem? how can I fix it? Is the package corrupted, if so how can I delete it? will deleting the package fix it? thank you for your help

Well,  it isn't the package integrety that is failing.  You just have file conflicts on your system.
Now to fixing them.  Most of these are to do with opera9.50.  Did you previously install opera 9.50 on your system without using pacman?  You should be safe doing a "pacman -Sf opera" to get rid of this.  I would do a "pacman -Qo <file>" on a few of those files to check nothing owns them first, just to be really safe.  You can do the same thing with shared-mime-info.
The /usr/local/share/man issue is a bit more compllicated.  Check what files you have in that directory.  I would move them all to a temporary directory, install the filesystem package, then move them back.  The filesystem package now symlinks /usr/local/man and /usr/local/share/man

  • Xcode not available

Iam trying to install the Xcode command line developer tool through the terminal by typing
    $ xcode-select --install
This prompts me if i want to install Xcode and I choose "Install". then the installation quits with the following error:
Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server
Why isn't the software available for me?

Lion 10.7 has no Install Disc, there is a Restore Partition you get to by holding CMD+r at bootup.
Which xcode 4 did you get?
    https://developer.apple.com/xcode/
    Download Xcode 4 for free.
    Xcode 4.4.1
Xcode in the Mac App Store has been repackaged, and is now distributed as a stand-alone application. This replaces the Install Xcode package, and adds support for delta updates. Xcode includes a new "Downloads" preference pane to install optional components such as command line tools, and previous iOS Simulators.
Note: To get the latest version of Xcode, you will need to click the "View in Mac App Store" button to the right and download from the new Xcode product page. The update from Xcode 4.2 will not show up in the Mac App Store "Updates" tab. Updates will work as normal for Xcode 4.3 and later.
