Xcode stuck installing/downloading "OS X 10.8 doc set"?

Xcode was downloading "OS X 10.8 doc set." It says "Installing OS X 10.8 doc set" but it gets stuck at around 90%. Every time I quit Xcode and restart, it starts "installing" again and gets stuck at the exact same place and my macbook pro fans are blowing as if the computer is working really hard. Even after quitting every application including XCode, the fans keep going.
How do I get it to finish installing it? I tried deleting the file in the DocSets folder in the Developer folder, but that did not help. And now after trying it again, the 10.8 docset file that I deleted will not appear again even after Xcode gets to 90% installed.
How do I fix this?

I can't tell you how to get the documentation install to finish. But anyone having problems installing documentation should go to Xcode's Downloads preferences and deselect the Check for and install updates automatically checkbox. Deselecting the checkbox will prevent the problem where you launch Xcode, it starts downloading and installing the documentation, and the fans on the laptop start blowing.

  • Purchased Mountain Lion, but it is stuck on download with no activity for about half an hour.  What next?

Purchased Mountain Lion via App store but it appears to be stuck in download with no activity for over half an hour and no error messages. The download bar shows the download at about 1/20th for about half an hour as well.  I had what appeared to be disk corruption.  I used OS CD to repair - indicated successful. When I rebooted again the system showed the spinning icon again.  I read that I should not install Mountain Lion if my disk still has errors.  I'm not sure what my next steps should be?

Sign out of the Mac App Store.
    Sign back in.
    Restart the Download.
Sounds like you repaired whatever disk issues there was, you should be fine. Its now a matter of obtaining the install.

I have an app that I started to download. It is stuck in "downloading" and I cannot get it off my iPad. The "x" won't appear when I hold down on the app icon.

Boot off your iPad and turn it back on.  Hold the button on the top until the "slide to power off" shows up. When you boot back up it will be gone and then you can re-install the app.

  • App Store says Xcode is installed but it isn't, so I can't install XCode

What can I say.  I tried to install XCode but it did not finish.  Now the App Store thinks XCode is installed.  I need XCode for MacPorts to work.  Does anyone know how I can tell the App Store XCode is not installed?

    "Me too"
Yet another individual in the same boat. ***, Apple?! Why must getting software be so obscure & complicated? What happened to: go to website, download thing, install thing?
I had Xcode 4.1 installed. Wanted to install (yet another) package with MacPorts, but got complaint that Xcode 4.1 is inadequate.
So I go to App Store & tell it to install current Xcode…This, BTW, left me with nearly zero feedback that something was going on. Only because I have a menubar widget showing network bandwidth did I know it was downloading.
while waiting (who knows how long it was to be), I had to sleep my computer to take it with me to work.
Upon waking my computer, App Store tells me Xcode is installed. Great!
Back to MacPorts to install that package: it tells me that Xcode 4.1 is too old. ***!?
Then things get messy & I end up clicking on the circle-X "button" next to XCode in the "Purchases" section of App Store, thinking that'll allow me to install it…that's a dead end
    I then try entirely removing "/Developer" & "/Applications/Install Xcode.app"another dead end
Trying all combinations of holding any/all keyboard modifiers (option/control/shift/command) while clicking on "Purchases" in App Store did nothing different than not holding any.
Now I'm left with no Xcode & no way to install it with App Storewhee! this is a fine pit I find myself in now.
What a lovely user experience! Please, may I have more?! <grumble> <fume>
In the end, I did resort to my "what happened to…" thought.
    Problem Solved:
Go to http://connect.apple.com/ & login with your (free) dev account.
Locate the current version of Xcode (4.3.2 for Lion) & download the dmg
Install like a normal person. (copy the Xcode.app from the mounted disk image to Applications)
After a bit of cleanup (things like "/usr/bin/xcodebuild -version" were trying to access things that used to exist), I've again got a working install of Xcode.

  • Running Xcode without install(from source control)

I am managing a build lab and have several products/branches to provide service to and I would like my build machines not to be specialized to any one product/branch.
The scenario I would like to have is that souce and all tools needed to build it are checked into source control and just sync and build with some prep/env setup before hand via script.
This is very doable with Visual Studio and many other tools. Is it possible with Xcode? Has anyone gotten a scenario like this to work?
Thanks in advance for any help/answers.

Does this snippet from the readme shed light...
    Installation
The Xcode and iOS SDK installer provides several options for configuring the installation from the “Customize...” button:
    •          Essentials: contains all required components of Xcode, installed by default in / Developer or another directory of your choice, including external volumes.
Xcode Toolset: installs the core Xcode IDE, the Mac OS X SDKs, and many other developer tools. This is a required package and cannot be un-selected.
iOS SDK: contains the iOS frameworks, tools, and iOS Simulator. If you do not agree to the iOS license agreement, this package will be unavailable. If un- selected, Xcode will install with only the Mac OS X SDKs.
    •          System Tools: installs system-level tools for performance analysis, and for system monitoring from within the Instruments application.
    •          UNIX Development: command-line tools such as compilers, linkers, and build tools. The components are always placed in /usr with only one version installed at a time.
    •          Documentation: checked by default, Xcode will download developer documentation in the background for offline reading, and automatically download documentation updates as well. If unchecked, the documentation will be read from the web instead of the local disk. The download setting can be changed after install via Preferences.
Throughout this document <Xcode> refers to the path in which the Developer Tools Essentials components are installed, which defaults to /Developer. You can have multiple
versions of the Xcode toolset installed. You can move or rename the <Xcode> directory, but must not alter its internal structure.
NOTE: Only one version of the System Tools and the UNIX Development components can be installed on a computer at a time. The last installed set of these components replaces any previously installed set.

  • SP1 Cumulative update 4 stuck on "Downloading information"

I have a server that is attempting to install the SP1 CU4 update for SCCM 2012 client but never succeeds. If you go into the Software Center on the machine, the status is continually stuck at "Downloading information".
I tried to force it by copying the installation package to the server and running the command line option specified in the package properties (msiexec.exe /p configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2922875-x64.msp /L*v %TEMP%\configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2922875-x64.msp.LOG /q REINSTALL=ALL
REINSTALLMODE=mous). The installation ran and appears to have been applied successfully (the version of the client shown in Control Panel --> Configuration Manager Properties went from 5.00.7804.1000 to 5.00.7804.1500) and the Software Center icon
    went away afterwards.
I was just finishing up congratulating myself when I received a notification from the Software Center again that software was being installed. I opened up Software Center, and there it was again - SP1 CU4 stuck at "Downloading information".
I've rebooted several times, but Software Center continues to pop up every time with same status.
One thing I should note, I recently migrated my SCCM server to new hardware and this "problem server" was installed after the migration. Prior to that, all of my other servers received the SP1 CU4 without issue. Both servers (SCCM and
problem server) are Windows Server 2012 R2.

    Thanks for the reply Anoop.
I checked the logs mentioned in the article, and everything looks fine as far as I can tell up until "Step 5: Tracking the Content Download."
In the "DataTransferService" log, there are numerous error messages:
    [CCMHTTP] ERROR: URL=http://server.domain.local:80/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/RIC00009, Port=80, Options=224, Code=0, Text=CCM_E_BAD_HTTP_STATUS_CODE
Error sending DAV request. HTTP code 404, status 'Not Found'
    GetDirectoryList_HTTP('http://server.domain.local:80/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/RIC00009') failed with code 0x87d0027e.
So looks like I have an IIS problem? I opened IIS Manager, and browsed to the directory on the DP server. In that directory, I see several other directories (DataLib, FileLib, PkgLib). I assume my package information should be in the "PkgLib" folder, but
inside that folder are just four .INI files (RIC00001.INI, RIC00002.INI, etc). There is no RIC00009.INI file, maybe that's my problem?
I also went into Config Mgr Console --> Administration --> Distribution Points, went to the properties of my Distribution Point, then to the "Content" tab, highlighted my package and clicked "Validate". Not sure though what this accomplishes.

  • SINGLE SCCM UPDATE STUCK AT DOWNLOADING 0% COMPLETE

I'm posting this because while there are multiple threads on the Internet about all patches on a client stuck at "downloading 0% complete", there's very little on when only one patch is stuck there network-wide. This was the "Windows Malicious
Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows Server 2013, 2012 R2 x64 Edition - September 2014  (KB890830)". On this network it would not download on any machine. Other versions of the Sept 2014 version of 890830 did install, so it was clearly
something specific to this version of that update. After awhile, I decided to try something that worked for me: Delete the deployment that applies to the machine in question, update distribution points from the package in question, run Machine Policy on the
box in question, wait til the update clears off the Software Center screen, and then run Machine Policy and Software Updates Deployment on the Actions tab. Then the patch installed fine. Hope this helps someone else!

I just figured this out while typing this. One of the suggested threads that appeared when I was typing lead me to the answer for my case. The IIS App Pool for DPs was using an account that did not have rights to particular folder. Some security setting
pushed by the security server changed something. I changed to App Pool to an account that had the needed rights, restarted IIS, and the downloads started working. Maybe this will fix my secondary DP problem too.

  • Package stuck at Downloading 0%

    Hi All,
Using SCCM 2012 SP1 CU5 to deploy applications/packages. All distribution points and boundary groups are configured and working correctly. What I've discovered is that some of the applications are stuck at downloading 0%, and software center eventually fails
with "The software change returned error code 0x87D00607(-2016410105).", which is saying that the content is not available. I checked the distribution point and the content is not available. I push out the application, but it seems like it doesn't
    distribute it to the DP.
All DP's are VMs and running Windows 7.

No secondary site. The logs don't show any errors.

i tried to update an app and it is now stuck "installing..." and i am unable to delete it ive tried restarting my phone, signing in and out, uninstalling/installing it on my computer, making sure there arent other downloads, and making sure there are no restrictions and nothing seems to work

Have you tried a reset to see if it resumes installing after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I also thought that it may be because of the WIndows firewall blocking the tranfer, so I shut it down. This is a fairly new install, with no added security or firewall or blocking type softwares added..
I found this setup guide: http://maximumpcguides.com/windows-vista/set-up-your-tv-signal-in-windows-media-center/
and their STEP 7 is where my setup stops... and never goes any further... even If I let it set all night lon and get up the next morning its still in the same place & the computer isnt locked up. I can open browsers, and manuever fine thoughout the system. I have tried 10 time in all sorts of ways and its always the same place where it stop or stalls... Ive checked for updates... nothing... no fix anywhere... any ideas?

  • Adobe Reader stuck installing

Have een trying to install Adobe Reader on my iPhone for over a week.  It says it is installing, but that is all that happens.  Can't abort or finish.

Some reviewers are reporting that their Reader for iOS install is stuck during download or install. We have not seen this, so if it is happening to you, we would like to get in touch to try to diagnose the issue. We believe the problem is with the Apple update process and would like to help them diagnose it. Below, I've pasted an email address that you can use to share this information with us as well as a set of steps that many users have followed to successfully restart their update.
Please provide us with the information and acknowledge that you consent to our sharing the information that you provide to us with Apple.
Please send an email to [email protected] if you are experiencing this issue with the following information:
    Device Type:
    OS Version:
    Wifi or 3g:
We find that the following steps nearly always resolve the problem:
Make sure wifi and/or cellular data are turned on
Test to be sure your internet connection is working by opening safari and browsing to a website (like www.adobe.com).
Single tap the app’s icon on the home screen and it will pause the download. Now go back to the iTunes Apps store, switch to the “Updates” screen and click “Update” to resume the download.
If this doesn't work,  go to Settings -> iTunes & App Stores and tap the Apple ID to sign-out. Restart the iPad, go back to Settings -> iTunes Apps Store and sign-in. Tap the waiting icon to update the app.
Most users are successful by step 3. Please let us know if this does or does not work by emailing [email protected] and thanks for your patience!

  • IOS 5 apps stuck installing

I traded up to an iPhone 4 and was reinstalling my apps.  I went back later to the App Store to update one, and it is now stuck "installing." The crazy part is that the app icon is *gone*.  When I go back to the App Store, the app shows "Installing" (grayed out).
I've power cycled my phone several times.  I have been able to install and delete additional apps.
    Ideas?

I've got the same issue. With my iPhone 4 on IOS 5.1
An app is stuck installing.  It has the loading queue under it with nothing loading, with the word installing. I try to 'download all' when updating in the app store.  The first one the list (of 7), the one thats stuck "soundhound"  wont update. Its preventing all the other apps, 7 of them from updating as well, tey are in waiting mode. I've tried hard reset several times. Turn the phone on and off.
What's weird is that the app store normal asks for reauthorization to continue any downloads. But since attempting to update these apps I haven't been asked for my password. I waiting an hour and no movment on apps whatso ever.  That is until I tried to download a new app in hopes of forcing the apps to begin downloading again, it didn't work and the new app doesn't download!
I went to the drastic step of deleting app from within the general settings, but the app still appears as installing even after more hard resets.  I reset network settings, though I don't see how that would have helped ( It was suggestion online. Ive looked at other resources online with little options, other than a full reset and sync with iTunes) My computer has bit the dust, and was hoping I'd never need it again with iCloud. I'm at a loss as to what to do, any suggestions??

  • Windows Update stuck on downloading on Server 2012

    Hi,
Using VMWare Workstation 9, I created new virtual machine where I installed Windows Server 2012 Standard edition from MDSN disk en_windows_server_2012_x64_dvd_915478.iso  In the Server 2012 virtual machine, when I go to check for updates it says
there are important updates available so I click on Install Updates.  It then just gets stuck on downloading updates for hours and nothing ever happens.  Stuck at 0 KB total, 0% complete.  I am able to access web pages using Internet Explorer
with no problem so the machine does appear to have connectivity to the Internet.  If I go to help, click on "What can I do if I'm having problems installing updates?" and click on "Tab or click to open the Windows Update troubleshooter"
it says "Windows Online Troubleshooting Service is not enabled for this version of Windows."  Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks,
    Greg

I had a similar problem with a guest Windows 2012 R2 running on a Hyper-V host. I went to the network adapter in device manager in the guest and I disabled the "Large Send Offload Version 2 (IPv4)" option. Why? Well, this was also an issue previously when
guesting Windows 2008 where the symptom was an error 80072ee2 when retrieving updates. See this post
http://blog.ronnypot.nl/?p=310 for details. Anyway, I tried this and it worked for me. Hung before the change, worked after.

  • Anyconnect Getting stuck at "Download"

    Hi All,
I have Anyconnect application installed on my laptop (OS : WinXP). I am trying to login SSL VPN (ASA5500) via IE8 and it is getting stuck at "download".
However it works, whenever I tried from Anyconnect application.
    Any help highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sri

I was asking if those images are actually present on the ASA flash - not just referenced in the configuration.
That aside, those are really old AnyConnect images and are actually past end-of-sales. Per the AnyConnect release notes, "support for Windows 8 32-bit and Windows 8 64-bit operating systems was added in 3.0.11042 and later versions (for 3.0.x versions) and 3.1.02026 and later (for 3.1.x versions)".
