Xdg-menu package needs testing

It seems xdg-menu is in final stage.
Now I tested icewm, ion3 and fluxbox, and write wrapper.
See http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/XdgMenu page
Please test it and give me more feedback. All you need - just install
xdg-menu from AUR.
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … 1&ID=10286
What we have now:
- common XDG stuff that describes menu layout
- xdg_menu script to generate WM menu
- update-menus wrapper can update menus automatically with config
- supported WMs:
    twm
    WindowMaker
    fvwm2
    icewm
    ion3
    blackbox
    fluxbox
    openbox
    openbox3
xfce4 (seems not needed because recent version XDG compatible)
Menu autogeneration is optional feature. You may include it into your WM
menu as a submenu or may not.
PS: I took xdg_menu script from suse and add twm and ion3 support into
it. This is main difference. Also I add update-menus wrapper and XDG
stuff.
PPS: I simplify menu hierarchy by removing 2+ menu levels. You may add your
suggestions into http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Tal … _hierarchy
and of course edit http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/WM_Menu_hierarchy

seems very nice
i dont like gdm/kdm/xdm either, and it comes handy when we want to change desktop, without editing anything

  • Need package from testing, How can I install?[solved]

    Hi
I must install the i81 Driver from testing, but what must I edit in the pacman.conf?
    I have try it with
    Incoming = /etc/packman.d/testing
    this don't work.

Remove that line from pacman.conf - it's completely incorrect. "Incoming=" means nothing to pacman, and if you look in /etc/pacman.d, there is no file called testing.
Here's the right way. Uncomment these two lines in pacman.conf:
    #[testing]
    #Server = ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/testing/os/i686
    Then do
    pacman -Sy testing/xf86-video-i810
If you don't need any other packages from testing, re-comment the lines in pacman.conf - if you want to be able to get selected packages from testing, move the lines to the end of pacman.conf, after all other repos.

  • [solved] XDG menu: possible to hide items?

When installing applications, .desktop files can be added to /usr/share/applications resulting in new items in my XDG menu (in XFCE's panel). I know I can add items by adding .desktop files of my own in ~/.local/share/applications, but what I'd like to do is remove some items.
For example, having QT installed I got a bunch of items in my "Development" menu, from files /usr/share/applications/{assistant,designer,linguist}.desktop
I'd like to remove them, the menu items I mean, and was wondering if that is somehow possible without modifying/removing those files (so that they don't come back after every update) ?

    Alright, I got it. Thanks.
Actually I had seen that key (NoDisplay), also tried with Hidden, but I just realized why it didn't work : the files need to have the exact same name! (I had tried using the same values for Name/Exec, or same everything, but somehow always used a different file name it seems...)
In fact, it works even with files with only the following, as long as the filename matches:
    [Desktop Entry]
    NoDisplay=true

  • Test Package in Test Management tab of Change Document

    Hi Expert,
When we test on CHARM, we realized that the test package in test management tab can only be
attach before the developer change the status to "Pass normal change to

test package be attach during "Test for Preliminary Input" status?

    You're very welcome!
I meant holding the "option" (or "alt") key on your keyboard as you click the Outlook icon on the Dock, and continuing to hold it until you see the Microsoft Database Utility come up. Alternatively, you can open the utility by navigating to Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Office and then double-clicking the Microsoft Database Utility app.
When you rebuild your database using that program, a backup copy of your original database (containing your account info, contacts, mail, calendars, etc) will be created. As a security precaution, you should also ensure you have a backup of your database (which you can find by going to Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/ and copying the contents of that folder onto an external drive).

The update is for few bug fixes and will show 2014.2 in CC as the update includes hotfix : Release notes | Adobe Muse CC
For exact version details you can check about muse from Muse menu options.

There are completely valid scenarii where you can use only few packages from testing (see above, the linux kernel for example). Also, using different libs versions is not a heresy (simlinking is) so there are very few comments in this thread that would have been much more constructive without the condescending tone. Or should we, from now on, consider our fellow users as all dumb in opposition to competent linux users [1] as it has always been ?

It is NOT safe to assume that ALL readers are competent. Just browse through the forums every once in a while. Hence care should be taken in giving advise.
This is not a private club, things posted here are read by many competent Arch users and some incompetent as well. Results show up in a Google search. • Install single package from testing

I just switched to Arch from Gentoo, and so far it's been mostly great. What I want to do right now is install 1 package from testing, and only that one. Is there an easy way to do this, besides uncommenting the testing repo, installing xorg-server, and commenting testing again? Basically (if you're familiar with Gentoo and emerge), I want to know what pacman's equivalent to /etc/portage/package.keywords is. Alternatively, if there's a way to make kde4 not absurdly slow with a relatively new ultra-low-end nvidia card (9300m), then I'm up for that as well. Additional background for this question is that I was hoping the newest (beta) drivers might alleviate this issue, but they depend on an xorg-server version that only exists in testing. I don't want to run testing, but if the new drivers help, then I'd be willing to run them (along with any reasonable, if unstable, dependencies). Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the forums.
If you upgrade only xorg-server, you're going to have problems. There are other packages designed to be used with it.
With that being said, you can always put testing as the last repo in /etc/pacman.conf. Then if you want to upgrade one package, you explicitly call it with pacman -S testing/<package_name>.

  • Package needed for network manager install

Trying to configure and install the latest network manager from source and I get an error:
configure: error: couldn't find pppd.h. pppd development headers are required.
    The network manager help page:
    http://live.gnome.org/JhbuildIssues/Net … 8ee2cd8383
states if this error occurs then install the 'ppp-dev' package in Debian.
Anyone know what package I should install on Arch Linux?

JGC wrote:Why would you compile it from source if there's a package in testing?
I'm using the ppc port of arch linux, and unfortunately network manager hasn't been included in testing yet. Though I did flag the packages as out of date a couple of days ago. Hopefully, it will be updated soon because compiling the latest network manager didn't work.
If things in ArchlinuxPPC aren't working, you can simply assign to us a bug, that you can insert in Bugs section from www.archlinuxppc.org page.
