  • Problem with OVM Server 3.2.6 - xend not running

    Hi, just now I upgraded my server to OVM Server 3.2.6 version and server boots up, cluster is up but I have message that Hypervisor is running in UNDETERMINED bit mode (WARNING: XEND IS PROBABLY NOT RUNNING). While boot I saw message that xend failed to start because "mount point /proc/xen does not exist". Also when it tries to start xend, there is message "xencommons should be started first". Reinstalling OVMS did not help. Does anyone have this problem?
    Thanks.

    For me, it looks like the same.

    Hi
    I am trying to compile AN HP/EMULEX driver using the ovm 2.2.2 SDK. The driver seems to be included in OVM 3.0 by default. Card is not recognised in 2.2.2. I need a 2.2.2 driver to connect our older VM servers to a new 10GbE network. The diver is found at

  • Change VPN port with Maverick server 3.2.2 ??

    Hi,
    on a new installed server I want to have access via VPN. Serversoftware is set up, VPN is running but connection is refused from outside.
    Did a port check and found out that only port 1723 is routed to the server on the Fritzbox router.
    Okay, now we also routed the 500 UDP and tried to switch the 1701, but as this is already occupied by some other hardware on the network (Synology NAS via upnp) we have only the port 1702 to choose - but I don´t know how to tell the server software to provide the connection via this port :-/ ...
    By the way : the firewall on the mac is switched on (OS X 10.9.5) - tried to find some settings for the ports to change there but didm`t succeed.
    If all of this info sound confusing I beg your pardon - I`m not too deep in this, just semi-professional ;-)
    Any help in this matter appreciated !!!
    Kind regards
    Roland

    Hello OTN,
    After converting/exporting machines from VMware and importing them into OVM i am receiving errors on some of the machines when powering on.

    Searching for this error turned up different solutions but none of them worked.
    One mentioned OVM not being able to handle spaces in vm names but this is not a working solution as most of the machines are just regular names without spaces or special characters.
    Also interesting, sometimes this error does not turn up when powering on BUT the machine just powers off again and returns to its turned off state. Next power on the error returns.
    OS types vary from S10, Win XP and RedHat so a possible connection to the error being the host OS is not there.
    Harddrive types are set to auto. The vm.cfg's of functioning machines do not differ from non functioning machines besides the actual vm name in the vm.cfg
    Any idea to this error or how to solve it ?
    Thanks
    -Stephan

  • Upgrade of xen guest to oes 11 sp 1 error

    I have been using the installation documentation to upgrade an existing oes2 sp2 server to oes 11 sp 1. I have established an NFS share on the xen host server and have tested that i can mount the nfs share to another server. That is done correctly.
    I shutdown the vm and select create new virtual machine in the virt mngr. I then select the oes 11 type and then select that i want to upgrade an existing vm. I enter the path as nfs:\\ipaddress\nds directory\ . When I select to upgrade I receive an error that says the source is unusable. the source is an iso file on the nfs share.
    Any suggestions.

    This is the document?

    What media are you using? If you are using
    OES11-SP1-addon_with_SLES11-SP2-x86_64-DVD.iso you should be able to
    supply the .iso image when you create your new virtual machine. This is
    probably the easiest approach.
    If you are using SLES-11-SP2-DVD-x86_64-GM-DVD1.iso and the separate
    OES11-SP1-addon-x86_64-CD1.iso, you start with the SLES DVD and specify
    that you also want to install OES as an addon. The OES media has to be
    accessible on the network. I prefer to create an Installation Server on
    my Dom0 and advertise it using SLP. Each to his own...

    The first thing that comes to mind is that your DomU needs an IP
    address to access the media. If you don't have a DHCP server to provide
    one, that could be your problem although there are workarounds.

  • Can not boot into Xen: Error 15 File not found

    Hi,
    When i boot Arch then there is no problem but selecting Xen will result in Error 15: file not found. I checked /boot and all the files are there. There is also no typo. Why is that ?
    This is my /boot/grub/menu.lst
    timeout 5
    default 0
    color light-blue/black light-cyan/blue
    # (0) Arch Linux
    title Arch Linux
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda3 ro
    initrd /kernel26.img
    # (1) Xen dom0
    title Xen 3.4.1
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /xen.gz dom0_mem=1024000
    module /vmlinuz-2.6.18.8-xen0 root=/dev/sda3 ro
    module /xen0.img
    lamnk:~% ls /boot
    System.map-2.6.18.8-xen0 config-2.6.18.8-xen0 kernel26-fallback.img vmlinuz-2.6.18.8-xenU xen-3.4.gz@ xen.gz@ xenU-fallback.img
    System.map-2.6.18.8-xenU config-2.6.18.8-xenU kernel26.img vmlinuz26 xen-3.gz@ xen0-fallback.img xenU.img
    System.map26 grub/ vmlinuz-2.6.18.8-xen0 xen-3.4.1.gz xen-syms-3.4.1 xen0.img

    Uhm, because all the files reside in /boot so it should have the same root, no ? The boot partion for Xen is also for Linux so i think it's pretty much bootable ...
    PS: and this is not a multiple disks setup. I'm running Arch on my laptop.

    any ideas? I've called IBM support but their options are reseat the hardware or replace it. this happens on more than one blade so we're assuming it has something to do with oracle VM. Thanks!

  • Xen Kernel randomly fails to load and goes out of range

    Been having an on/off issue lately that requires a hard reset of my system.  Essentially what happens is the system begins to load when my monitor reports an error that the signal is out of range.  I try to pretend login and reboot, but it does not work.  Instead, I am forced to simply reset the system and once reset it appears to boot OK without any issues.  In fact I can go a few reboots before once again it decides to break.  Below is what should be one of the logs from a failed boot, in fact, the system is in this same failed state right now as well.

  • PowerOn Failed Error: Domain Does Not Exist

    [Simon Thorpe's blog |http://blogs.oracle.com/simonthorpe/2009/07/migrating_a_vmware_server_2_wi.html] I'm new to OracleVM. The wizard through OVM Manager successfully converted a windows VMWare vm to ovm. I was able to start up the VM once and get the driver updates loaded. I was following Simon Thorpe's blog and other documents to complete this.
    Upon reboot, I get the following error:
    Start - /OVS/running_pool/ECM_Xmonth_2010_vm
    PowerOn Failed : Result - failed:<Exception: return=>failed:<Exception: ['xm', 'create', '/var/ovs/mount/69D37D3828A040A08A7E01E5DE43C1D8/running_pool/ECM_Xmonth_2010_vm/vm.cfg'] => Error: Domain 'ECM_Xmonth_2010_vm' does not exist.

    If this is a linux guest, try running xm create -c vm.cfg from the ECM_Xmonth_2010_vm directory to start the guest with the console immediately attached. You may be able to see a boot/GRUB related error. If this is a Windows guest, you could start it paused with xm create -p vm.cfg and then attach a VNC console. Once you have a VNC session, you can resume the guest and it will begin booting.

  • How to configure Oracle VM(Xen) bridge networking?

    Hi,
    I have installed Oracle VM (Xen) and within it 2 VM Templates: One for Oracle 11g DB and the other with Siebel App. RHEL5.3 x86
    The problem is that I cannot get the xen network bridge to work properly and get no ping to the gateway or any other ip from the VM's.
    arping to and from the vm's to the hosting xen works ok.
    i have configured the vm.cfg to have : vif = ['type=netfront,bridge=xenbr0',] is this correct?
    Can you please help?
    Thanks,
    Liron
    On the VM(Siebel App) for example:
    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/*ifcfg-eth0* seem ok.
    I had eth1 in my ifconfig right after I added ['bridge=xenb0'] but somehow I am now getting 'Device not present'
    though I am not sure this is the issue.

    Alternativ way to correct the gateway problem.:
    Show the device that actually bears your IP
    [root@bdk-esb-ovs11 ~]# ip route show dev 0a004300
    default via 10.0.67.10
    10.0.67.0/24  proto kernel  scope link  src 10.0.67.32
    [root@bdk-esb-ovs11 ~]# cat /etc/resolv.conf
    nameserver 10.0.67.10
    [root@bdk-esb-ovs11 ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network
    NETWORKING=yes
    NETWORKING_IPV6=no
    HOSTNAME=bdk-esb-ovs11
    GATEWAY=10.0.67.10
    Now correct the GATEWAY:
    [root@bdk-esb-ovs11 ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network
    NETWORKING=yes
    NETWORKING_IPV6=no
    HOSTNAME=bdk-esb-ovs11
    GATEWAY=10.0.67.1
    The network needs restart now, to get the right gateway.
    BEWARE , Do get downtime to restart the network on OVS.
    Alternatively migrate your machine to another OVS .
    # service network restart
    My VM on the OVS server survived a service network restart on its host OVS, but missed 18 pings..
    Regards Martin Rønde Andersen

You can check on the console and ensure the console says that Hardware Virtualization is enabled. If not, check in your BIOS that the processor hardware virtualization is enabled. If you don't have an option, your PC may not have the Intel VT-x or AMD-v extensions required to support hardware virtualization.
    You can check to see if your processor supports this extension by using:
    Intel processor:
    # cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep vmxAMD processor:
    # cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep svmIf you see a result, it means the processor has that support. You still need to ensure that it is enabled in the BIOS.

    ** Error during execution, error code = 134.
    Please help me how to solve this issue.

    I suggest trying to install a different version to confirm the error. Do you have SELinux enabled? It can cause weird errors. You can check the syslog /var/adm/messages to see if there were any SELinux errors.
    The following is known to work:
    Oracle Linux with jrockit
    Oracle Linux with jrockit

    This is the error:
    [ 103.265] (EE) open /dev/fb0: Permission denied
    Possibly no one tested the new systemd method with the fbdev driver. Does it work if you use xf86-video-modesetting instead of xf86-video-fbdev? If not, you'll likely need to configure X to start the old way (as root) as described in the news.
