[XFCE4] Starting applications in workspace 2 with Xfwm

Question

I'd like to have any instance of urxvt start in workspace 2 on my system without using a third party app like devils pie 2 or wmctrl.  I have searched extensively but haven't found a working solution.  Advice is appreciated.

I doubt they're ever going to add that functionality.
According to the xfce faqs:
How do I programmatically switch workspaces, move windows, etc?
wmctrl is a commandline tool that can switch workspaces, move windows between workspaces, move window positions, maximize windows, etc.
libwnck is a library that does similar things.
But here's a snippet for opening mc in an xfce-terminal on a particular workspace using wmctrl (found on the web):
#!/bin/sh
window="mc"
xfce4-terminal --title "$window" -x mc
wmctrl -r "$window" -t 2
wmctrl -r "$window" -b toggle,fullscreen
