XI File Adapter: Sender and the use of wildcards in the directory name

Hi,
Quick question for you XI guru's. I have a requirement to <b>read</b> files from an ftp server that live in separate directories like:
/dir1/subdir1/in/
/dir1/subdir2/in/
/dir1/subdir3/in/
I want to setup the communication channel so that it does something like:
/dir1/*/in
Normally I would specify the other directories in the advanced tab however there could be potentially 1000's of subdir's so I want to use a wildcard. Is it possible to do this with a directory name?
I have read this link and it seems to only indicate using wildcards in the filename.

It is better to use OS script to read the said three directories.
bcz you know three directories. so you can use OS script file and that file can be configured in Ftp adapter.

Cannot process a Fixed Field Length file using the File Adapter (Sender)

Hi -
I have checked throughout these posts and blogs but I still have not been able to find a solution to my issue. When using the File Adapter (Sender) I get a Conversion initialization failed with "xml.keyfieldName", no value found. Why would I require a key field when I am using fixed field lenghts? The file is comprised of 2 structures - 1 header and multiple details (see below). There are no key fields in the flat file that I would be able to use. Any suggestions?

you can use the module from which u can convert your structure to

Please note the extra H,D in the struture added by the module.
You can then use them as your key fieldValues.. The module should be deployed in Visual Admin and then can be used in the Module tab of your adapter CC
While writing the content conversion after that please dont forget about the added new characters
Please note also that i can find that the word supplier kept repeating in all the Dtachkp records

Also if you feel that the field is of 13 characters and that would cause a problem dont worry... create a dummy field eg split tht 13 to two fields and use the common one as key field Value and identifier... as i see in ure case its like 500 Supplier , 502 Supplier . u can split the first 4 char and the remaing 9 char are key field value.

File Adapter - Reading 2 files from sender and one file to receiver

All - I am looking for a best solution for reading two files from sender and generating one file to the receiver.
Here is the scenario
Sender file s - A is a master file. B is a detail file; B will have a one to many records for each record of File A.. that is the relation ship between 2 files.. I am looking for a better solution to
Example
Input:
File A will have a record like "summary1 ABC 1234"
File B will have a record like "Detailfor Summary1 CDF 8679"
Output:
File C shall have a record "consolidatedofSummary&Detail ABC 1234 8679"
1) read records of master row and detail row from these 2 files
2) do the mapping to the receiver output format which it is creating for records with some harcoded values and based on the values from master and detail rows of sender file
if I can accomblish reading sender files and do the mapping to the receiver , assume that mapping to the receiver format would not be cumbersome.
please help me...

Hi Gopal,
Ur approach to the interface is perfect.... Go ahead.
For selecting multiple files in source use Advanced Selection for files.. and specify the directory paths and also the file name shema...
This will fetch the 2 files into the integration engine... then u map the 2 source files to one target file(2:1 mapping).
Specify accordingly the receiver side FCC and test it end to end...
If u face any prblm post here... some1 will help u out..

The value of the Channel Strip volume etc is not stored within the C Strip setting, as you have discovered.
If you really wanted, you could add a Gain plug to the strip, with it set to give the correct output level with the Fader set to 0
(Or just set the fader manually in MS)

File Error: The Specified file is open and in use by this or another app...

I have imported a string of pictures and dragged them into the FCP timeline. I render them and it renders a certain percentage then it stops and says "File Error: The Specified file is open and in use by this or another application."
After reading this, I quit out of FCP, restarted my computer, opened FCP, nothing other program, tried to render again and same thing happened. It renders part of it then the error message pops up, then I can render again and it will do another percent then it will pop again and so on.
Suggestions, or does anyone know why this happened? Thank you very much for your time.

okay - don't know where you've got your scratch disc set but hopefully it's to another drive other than your boot.
The same drive where your render files should be located, ie some drive other than your boot drive.
Can you copy the jpegs over to that drive into a folder.
Delete them from your tl, delete them from your proj. Save your project. Close fcp.
If they're on your boot drive - delete them.
Reopen fcp and Reimport them from the new location.
Sorry for all the steps - but we have no idea how you have configured fcp or your level of experience. Trying to cover all the bases ...

I get this error when I import a .MOV created by Live Type. All applications, except FCP, are closed. I can reboot the computer and get the same thing. It happens when I try and "render all". Thanks.

It's probably either spotlight looking at the files, or some anti-virus program thinking your render is a virus.

It sounds like you may have purchased a CreatePDF subscription through safari, using our web interface. If this is the case, the good news is that subscription will also work with the (free) Adobe Reader. Simply install the Reader from the App Store:

Once installed, you can then use "Open In" from another app like Mail to open the Word document in Adobe Reader. Reader will show the word doc, but it will also show you a message pointing to the "convert" button (A document with an arrow through it in the toolbar). Use the same account you used to purchase your subscription and Reader will upload the word document for conversion, placing it in the Acrobat.com and Outbox section of the Reader. Key Field Value for File Adapter Sender Wildcard

Hello everybody, is there a way to use a wildcard for the property of NamA.keyFieldValue in the cc for a Fils Sender????, here's an example why, I need to take some Files via PI 7.0 and my key filed can change according to the file an example is that in a file can be HF28 and in another file can be HF29, the only character that is going to be constant is the H, I would really appreciate any suggestions, thanks in advance.

File sender adapter will read the file using FCC
Key Field Value entry is mandatory if the key field name is set. Otherwise, the entry can be ignored

File Adapter - Sender/Receiver

We may have scenario where XI will be using File adapter to deliver messages to Application X in the landscape.
As part of Load balancing of Application X, there are multiple servers running. Say, If Iam delivering the file to one location, If that server is down I should send files to different location. How can I achive that ?

I guess your 10 receivers are physically different. So they will have different IPs.
I do not know if you can adress a receiver dynamic. As far as I know it is not possible.
Maybe one solution is to write your own adapter.
On the other hand, thinking about a webService that pings the receiver systems and gives a message back to XI, which servers are online.
Than first call the WebService. In BPM you receive a list/ a message which servers are online. In a fork you could decide with a condition, which branch to use.
Sorry, that I cant give you a better solution.

You can use RequestResponseBean in the sender file adapter module .
RequestResponseBean (SAP Library - SAP Exchange Infrastructure)
Request/Response Bean for IDOC_AAE adapter
Instead of IDOC_AAE adapter you can use FILE adapter.

Thank you for your question.
This error was caused by the incorrect site binding, I will give a reference of my test Lab. We add two A records in DNS which the FQDN of CAS and Mailbox could resolve IP address.;
Default Web Site:
Exchange Back End:
Then IIS must be restarted.
