XI to XI scenario with attachments

Hi,
I have a XI to XI scenario, both the sender and receiver use the XI adapter to connect to the XI server, and I want to attachment some pdf documents in the message. I have searched the threads in the forum, and I found that most of them use mail, soap or idoc adapter, is that possible to use XI adapter? How to do that?
Thanks and regards,
Bean

Hey
as far as i know u might not be able to send a Pdf using XI adapter,u can do it using File adapter without doing anything  in IR,but as far as XI adapter is concerned i dont think its possible.
have a look at the folowing

  • SOAP Receiver adapter with attachments not working

    Hello,
I have a simple synchronous scenario like this; ABAP proxy with attachments to SOAP with attachments.
The SOAP receiver adapter has been configured with the parameters 'Do not Use SOAP envelope' and 'Keep attachments'. We create our own SOAP envelope with custom SOAP headers, so that's the reason for the 'Do not use SOAP envelope' setting.
When we test the scenario with an attachment then we get a timeout from PI. However, when we test the same scenario without any attachment then no errors occur.
The external webservice has also been tested with SOAP UI and it works fine.
Do you have any clues what the problem can be? What are we still missing in the configuration?
We did try with the adapter modules such as PayloadSwapBean and the Message TransformBean, so far without success...
    Many thanks.
    Roberto

    Hi Stefan,
The attachments are not really big, around 150KB.
According to the other party (Oracle Service Bus) no messages with attachments have been received. In fact it seems like those messages never leave the PI server. SOAP requests without attachments are processed successfully.
    Thanks
    Roberto

  • How to create Inbound SOAP With Attachments

    Hi All,
Does someone know how to create an Inbound SOAP Message (from SAP XI to a Business System) with attachments?
We get an Idoc from a SAP R/3 system and transform this Idoc to an other XML format messages, but we want this message as an attachment and not as the payload in the SOAP Envelope.
We tried the PayloadSwapBean module, but we don't have an attachment to swap with, but maybe we used the wrong paramaters.
    Thanks,
    Frank

    Hi Stefan,
Does this quick response mean I challenged you?
Our scenario is that we send an IDoc (ORDERS05) from our R/3-backend-system to XI (3.0/SP15). In an integration process (A/S-bridge) we transform this IDoc to an UBL-Order XML-message, and we want to send this XML-message as an attachment to a (synchronous) SOAP-call to a vendor. Like I said, despite the SAPHelp-content, we don't get this working. Whatever we try, the UBL-Ordermessage is contained in the SOAP-body.
What makes it even more strange, is that XI itself is based on the SOAP-with-attachments-standard...
So, any help is much appreciated!
    Regards, Fred

  • How to send SOAP Message with attachments?

    Hi All,
I am working on a SOAP to RFC Scenario With specific requirement of handling the attachment(Mainly Excel Attachments) at the Sender SOAP Adapter.
    Kindly Suggest.
I found lot of theoritical stuff but no practical scenario.
    Regards,
    Sachi

    Hi Sachi,
To handle attachment in SOAP sender adapter  first of all you will have to use the AXIS message protocol.
Then by using MessageTransformBean you can handle the attachment.
    1) Check this link for the module processing sequence used to get the attachment from SOAP
SOAP Axis sender with CSV file attachment
    2) Check this blog which will help you on the usage of MessageTransformBean
Solve Key Field Problem using StructPlain2XML in MessageTransformationBean!!
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/24/4cad3baabd4737bab64d0201bc0c6c/frameset.htm
using MessageTransformBean you can handle only the text file attachments like comma separated file, pipe separated, fixed lengths etc. But if you are looking to handle a excel file you will have to use a java mapping to get the data from excel attached file. for this have a look at this following blog by Shabarish:
Excel Files - How to handle them in SAP XI/PI (The Alternatives)
Do remember to use SOAP Axis adapter and to tick the keep attachment option.
    Hope this helps.

    Aravind

  • Collect mailmessages with attachments (xml)

I am getting some problems to collect a mail message with a XML attachment.
For this scenario I use the Sender Mail adapter and I would like to collect several mail messages with attachments for 10 minutes and put them together in one file with the File Adapter (NFS).
To make it not to complicated I started to read one mail message with attachment.
From the mail message I would like to use the message text in the mail. The attachment is an XML file with 3 fields (Name, Adress, ID).
The output file is based on :
    - Message  (input is the text in the mail message)
    - Name
    - Adress
    - ID
My CC Mail Sender settings are:
    Transport protocol: Pop3
    Message protocol: XIPayload
Mailattributes :  Use Mail Package = yes
                Keep Attachments  = yes
Based on several how to’s from this website, how to import mails with attachments.
When this message is send to XI  the substance tells me in the monitor that I use 2 Payloads:
        - Mail Message (text/xml;charset=utf-8)
        - MailAttachment-1 (text/xml;name=”testattachment.xml”)
Because I would like to combine those 2 messages into 1 file. I use a fork in BPM.
To create relation for BPM I added after the inbound receiving for each input message a field “relation”, which is needed for correlation in BPM.
But my problem is, because the payload exist of 2 messages and it is only possible to reach only on at the same time..
In my message mapping I have two inputs: Mail and Attachment and my output is one message.
Is their a solution how I can combine those 2 payloads into one, before it’s getting into the BPM scenario or where I can use more payloads at the same time?
I already tried looking for this at post  on SDN, but I could not find anything similar.

    Hi Venu,
When I try to use your suggestion, I get a problem with my message interface.
In my communication channel (CC) for the Mail Adapter (Sender) you need to set the Default XI parameters with a default interface name.
In my case I have the input of one interface of the mail message
and one interface of the attachment. But in CC you can only work only with one  message interface.
When I try to work with only one, only one message will be processed. So just the mail message not the attachment, or the other way around.
Is their another solution, to prevend this?

  • Binary Attachments - MTOM vs. SOAP with Attachments

    Hello everybody,
i am kind of stuck by implementing a soap to proxy scenario! I wanted to use MTOM to transfer the messages together with the attachments, but until now i couldn't find out if this is possible at all using the ws-adapter with backend proxy (version 701)!
    I have seen this already:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/de/48/d5a1fe5f317a4e8e35801ed2c88246/frameset.htm
unfortunately im not a abap coder, but i can see using attachments in proxys should work!
But how? Am i forced to used soap with attachments on sending webservice? If yes, have you got an example for me?
    I would appreciate any help!
    Thanks in advance,
    Markus

    Hi Amar,
thanks for your reply, i know the mtom theory, but i don't know how to do it with sap pi on proxy side!
(By the way, your link throws a 404!)
Using soap adapter with enabled "keep Attachments" option, the MTOM-Attachment is getting processed, but on proxy side, using soap adapter (keeping attachments) to call proxy, it crashes on the backend side (version 701).
I tried to make a webservice out of the proxy in soamanager, but i didn't get this working, as i have never done this. Also i didn't find an option for mtom in soamanager. I am also wondering why mtom is only supported in ws-adapter 7.10 but not in 7.11, why is this? And is it possible to use soap-adapter on OB-side and WS-Adapter on IB-side, or can i only use ws-adapter for direct communication?
    Lot's of questions i am facing ;-)...
    Kind regards,
    Markus

  • Work with attachments

    All,
Within the file adapter, it is possible to upload a message (e.g. XML) with attachment (e.g. binary PDF).
But how to work with these attachments in SAP XI?
    1. Can the Receiver file adapter convert a message with attachment into 2 files?
    2. How to send the main part to 1 destination and the other part to another destination?
    3. How to access the main part (xml) and additional parts (pdf) within a business process?
    4. Can I remove an attachment from a message in a mapping step?
    5. Can I replace the main part (XML) with the attachment (binary PDF) in a mapping step (or elsewhere)?
    Kind regards, Guy Crets

  • EBP-SUS - Purchase Order Response (POR) with attachments

    Hi,
I am working on EBP-SUS scenario with EBP in Extended classic scenario.
I have couple of questions regarding Purchase Order Response in SUS with attachments. I appreciate your response to these questions.
      1. From SUS, when the Supplier responds to a PO with attachment, does the attachment get copied over to SRM PO?
      2. If so, in case of extended classic scenario, does the attachment get sent to MM?
    Thanks,
    Surendra

    Khan,
      Thanks for your reply.
So, in case of EBP-SUS scenario, if the supplier sends attachment, the attachment gets copied over to PO when the POResponse is copied over? I tried this scenario and the attachment is appearing on PO Response record. However, does not seem to get copied over to PO when the "Copy" button was pressed. Am I missing any configuration?
    Thanks,
    Surendra

    Hi David,
The "covert byte[] to a base64 encoded string" solution, is probably your best
bet given the scenario you described.

    what

My EJB is currently receiving a byte[] and returning also a byte[]. The
    only solution

    Would you recommend that?

  • Cannot move mail with attachments

I was helping a friend prepare to eventually delete her hotmail account from Mail on her iPad. She did not want to lose any mails, so we were moving messages from her hotmail inbox to her gmail inbox. Moving the messages was uneventful until we came to messages with attachments. Any mails with attachments will not move. When trying to do so, we get an error message that simply says the mails cannot be moved...but gave no reason why (really helpful). They're simply stuck in the hotmail Inbox and cannot be moved out. Anybody have a clue what's happening here?
In a worse case scenario I told her we could forward those messages to her new account and then just delete them from her hotmail account. By doing so we'll save the messages, but the messages won't appear in the new inbox according to when they were originally sent, but rather by when they were forwarded. Being able to move them would be the proper solution, but it simply won't work.

Perhaps the mail server has a size limit that it allows. Might try a free web service and see if that will work for those attachments.

  • Encoding problem when forwarding mails with attachments using exchange account

    Hi,
I'm facing a special misbehaviour of mail. Scenario: With Apple Mail 7.2 I would like to forward an exchange mail with attachments. The mail is wirtten in german and uses german special characters like äüöÄÖÜ. During editing the mail everything is ok which means all characters are shown in thte correct way. When I send the mail, something magic must happen in the background.
When I look in the sent mail folder and open the mail, all special characters are show as "?". Must be an encoding problem, I gues but I don't know how to fix it.
When I send exactly the same mail with another Apple mail account (non exchange), there is no problem. So I assume it has something to do with handling exchange accounts under Apple mail.
Any idea to solve this issue? Thanks in advance.
    Br,
    Jakob

This is a know issue with Yahoo! Email on the iPhone. When sending email, sometimes it will say it has been sent, while it really has not (and it will not show up in the sent folder).
It has been discussed quite a bit in the forums, so a search will turn up a lot of discussion, but no solid solution. Some say Yahoo is working on a fix, other that Apple is.
The most common solution (which is usually temporary), is to either reboot your phone, and/or delete and reinstall your Yahoo! Mail account on your phone.

  • Can not view (some) emails with attachments

There has already been some discussion about individuals getting the "This message has not been downloaded from the server" error.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4983643
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I am using GMail and am having problems reading (some) emails with attachments. I can read the first several lines through the preview view, but can not open (some) emails without getting the "This message has not been downloaded from the server" error.
The problem appears to be completely random. The problem occurs sometimes after I open the email on my computer, and other times it occurs before I open the email on my computer. And sometimes opening the email on my computer does not cause any problem opening the email on my phone.
I have seen this problem on two different phones now and have re-created the email accounts on both phone several times. But the problems keeps (eventually) appearing--for some, but not all emails.

So, I think things are actually sending/downloading and it's just taking time and the iphone is defaulting to the error message.
I don't think that's the case. I have several week-old messages on my iPhone (each under 300k) that still say "The message has not been downloaded from the server."
I've been connected to wifi for over an hour now, so that's plenty of time to downloaded these few small emails. I can read the "preview" of the message from the Inbox screen, but when I click on the message itself, I get the error.
And, those messages with the attachments that I was able to open this morning? I can no longer open them now. Very, very frustrating.

  • Problem with attachments and antivirus.scanners

    Hi!
Problem is: Sending any attachment from Tiger (10.4.8) mail, all attachments are removed by a virus scanner at receiving end:
This message was modified by F-Secure Anti-Virus E-Mail Scanning.
Tried Windows friendly, text only, repair permissions, sending under other isp etc. no help.
If this same message with same attachment is send from next mac with Panther, it is received ok.
Receiving company is big and wont alter their virus-scanners and the problem clearly lies in Tiger.
    Any help welcome.
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The subject of your message should have been "Problems with attachments and F-Secure antivirus" since this is not a problem with all antivirus software, only with F-Secure.
Check this thread for a possible temporary solution when sending attachments to those who use F-Secure.

  • Why do I have trouble with attachments being stripped when sending email via Earthlink Webmail using Firefox?

I recently built a new computer running Win 8.1. However, I have had trouble sending and receiving attachments with Earthlink Webmail on Firefox. I sometimes cannot see attachments to emails I receive, although the size of the file indicates they are there. When I try to send an email with attachments, the browser contacts Earthlink, and then the message reappears, but the attachments have been stripped. If I hit Send again, the message goes, but without the attachments. If I re-attach the attachments and hit send, they are again stripped. I contacted Earthlink support, and they told me it is a problem with Firefox. I then tried IE and was able to send the attachments without a problem.
I would really appreciate any help as Firefox is my browser of choice.

    1. Not sure how to send an email in a private browsing window... I use Earthlink Web Mail and I cannot find anything on that site about private browsing window.
    2. Have not tried this yet, but will when I get a chance.
    3. Not sure. My old computer ran XP. Never had the problem with it. Right now, it is not connected to the internet, so can't check it.
    4. I neglected to mention... I did try IE and it worked fine.
I do have Norton 360 installed, but it was not a problem on the XP machine.
Thanks for your response. I have been so busy lately that I just now picked up your response. I have not had time t to try anything else.
As far as the file type, I was trying to send pdf files. Have not tried other file types.
Earthlink limits messages (and attachments) to 20 MB. The files were less than 3 MB.

    - Problem: I have 1400 e-mails with attachments that need to be converted into pdf and the attachments cannot be embeded.
System: PC Windows 7 using Acrobat X Prof. - Thank you!

    Hi ,
There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .
