XML file reverts to original file after save - Why?

Hi guys,
I'm working with a little bit of XML and have questions, first here are my steps:
1) Load XML
2) Append to XML
3) Save XML using PHP
pretty simple, right?
Well, why when I load the same XML file does it read the file without the appendend nodes I just added?
I can open the XML file in Dreamweaver and see the appended nodes, but once I load the XML back into the .SWF, it clears the appended nodes and only reads the original nodes again..... simplified version like this:
Original file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<people>
     <person>
          <name>Steve</name>
     </person>
</people>
Saved file, readable in Dreamweaver:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><people>     <person>          <name>Steve</name>     </person>     <person>          <name>Mary</name>     </person></people>
When .swf file is closed and reOpened to save another person it opens:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><people>     <person>          <name>Steve</name>     </person></people>
My .swf is local at this point and PHP and XML files are on a server running PHP5.
Apparently the PHP script is correct because it DOES save the file correctly. I can save as many <persons /> as I want. But when I close the Flash .swf the URLLoader reads the original XML data again. Not sure how that's possible?
When I change the location of the XML to load into the URLLoader it changes so I know it's reading the same file I saved to.... I'm so confused.
Hope this is enough detail for someone to help me,
Thanks,
Sky

Wish it was possible to handout additional answer points based on (time spent trying to figure it out) vs. (helpfulness of answer).
To bad we couldn't some how accrue points when learning and give to you guys that help us out.
Then Adobe could have a redeem points system where you guys get free stuff in lieu of helping us all learn their programs.
Thanks again,

  • Itunes can't play the file because the original file can not be found

    There is many things wrong with that message and I don't know why.
    I had around 30 songs off an album on my computer
    I put the album on Itunes
    I edited them and then they played fine
    I put them on my ipod and then deleted them off coz i wanted to put something else on
    but i found out I had more space to put the other 30 songs I had from before back on so I went to the album
    when I wanted to play a song it said "Itunes Can't play the file because the original file can not be found"
    1) The original file was on my computer, in the exact place where I left it last time when Itunes played it
    2) I did not change the file path name
    3) I did not change the folder path name
    4) The songs aren't corrupted
    5) They play fine on other programs
    I deleted them all off and took them on again and they played fine but whey did they keep stuffing up before?

    The "missing file" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
    Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then say no when asked to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. I can provide a step by step guide if you give me the two paths.
    In some cases iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps and locate the lost track. It may then offer to attempt to automatically fix other broken links. Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

  • Steps or path to revert to original file after Media Encoder has shortened video length by 15min

    I was trying to encode the video to decrease the upload time and instead reduced video length by 15 minutes.  I dont know how or what happened. after selecting encode.  It seemed to do what it was supposed to and then upon viewing the movie i realized much of the import video is not there...  I would appreciate any steps or measures i can try to rever to the original file.   i have the original on an sd card but, even when i right click and play its the 5 min video instead of 20

    What apps are you using to open the original file that you copies to your local drive (list all that you have tried?  QT, VLC, WMP, PPro)?
    You say original was 20 min and is now 5 min.  I don't see how AME or other Adobe apps would have done this to original file.
    I'm wondering if there was an issue with file before it came into AME and AME encoded what all the other media player are seeing which is only 5 minutes.
    In Windows, if you right click on the file and get properties, how long does windows think it is?

  • Changed File Name but reverts to original file name when exported or copied

    I created a folder of 150 photos for a video montage and numbered them all by editing the file name. When I export (or copy and paste) the images to a folder on my desktop, the files all revert back to their original file names. Any ideas?

    In iPhoto what you see originally is the file name as the title. Any changes to it remain in iPhoto unless you export out with the appropriate options to either same the title with the file and/or use the title as the file name.
    When you export the photos via the File->Export->File Export menu option there's a File Name drop down menu at the bottom from which you can select Use Title. That will give you the Titles you changed as the new file name.

  • Is there a way to restore missing lightroom files without the original files?

    I am currently trying to reedit some old work, unfortunately, I lost the memory card with all the original files, is there a way I can restore the files in LR without the originals? I figure since the program still has some of the data and can show us a preview of the images, there should be a way around this.

    I assume you copied the original memory card files to HDD during import into LR. Did you later move the files or the containing folder to another location from outside LR and now they are missing?

  • I bought a song to put on IDVD and the file says no original file what is going on?

    Hi
    To get as little problem with my audio I always do.
    • use only .aiff 48kHz 16-bit (from miniDV tape) or 44.1kHz (from Audio-CD) - NO .mp3, .avi, .wma etc - all converted to this - I use Audacity (free on internet) to do this.
    • If Audio is OK in iTunes - I do
    - collect needed audio into a New Play-List
    - Burn this as an Audio-CD (still .aiff - NO .mp3)
    - Use the files on this CD - in my Movie/DVD projects
    And this works very nice
    Still - One can not and shall not try to publish CopyRighted Meterial on You-Tube etc. As this is illegal.

  • Batch rename files preserving the original file name in metadata

    How can I batch rename files while preserving the original file name in metadata? (Don't want the old file name as part of the new file name)
    (Adobe CS Bridge can do this with some success, but I don't want to be dependant on this software. Results are inconsistent.)

    With a simple terminal script. More details needed, though.

  • Cannot save in illustrator file reverts back to an earlier save!

    I can't seem to save properly in Illustrator.  After I've saved the file when I close it it sometimes opens back up into a earlier saved version of the file.

    If on a server: try saving to your desktop, then do an information on the file (Command I on MAC, Right Click properties on PC) to check what time/date this  was saved. Keep an eye on this, as this should  help you troubleshoot what is going on. You may have a server problem that is putting the old file back on.
    Check to see if the control panel version Que is on, most people disable this including myself.
    If this is just a global color that is reverting, let us know, as that is caused by a different reason.

  • Application Folder Icon reverts to original Icon after Restart/Logout...

    My custom icon for the applications folder in the Finder window sidebar reverts back to the original icon (pencil, ruler, paintbrush) after I restart/logout. In the "Get Info" pane of the applcation folder it shows the custom icon, but the icon in the sidebar displays the original! I have changed all my other icons in the sidebar and they have retained their custom icons, but Applications is the only one being stubborn.
    I have searched the forums, and found an article where it says to log in as root user and then change it, but i did that and the icon still went bact to the original.
    If anyone knows how to change it for good please help me.
    Thanks.

    The icns file you want is here:
    "/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/ToolbarAppsFol derIcon.icns"
    You'll need to do a Show Package Contents on CoreTypes.bundle to get there. Drag the icns file to your desktop--it will copy rather than move. You'll discover that it is much smaller than normal icons: only 32x32 pixels.
    You'll need a program to allow you to create icns files. Iconographer is nice. I believe it has a free trial period.
    Create your own icns icon and save it with the same name as the original.
    Next you need to use Terminal. You'll rename the original with a mv command, then do a sudo copy of your version into the above Resources folder.
    Still want to try?

  • Hero Images Revert to Original Size After Being Resized

    Hi,
    I have read many forum questions about resizing hero images in slideshows, but I'm having a slightly different problem:
    In order to have larger images in my slideshow I have been resizing the hero images to 500px height one by one (as I can't seem to find a way to edit all hero images together).
    But now I am finding that images I have already made larger have reverted back to their original size. This is without exiting the program or even changing windows.
    This is already a time consuming process as I'm working on an artist's site and there are multiple slideshows with dozens of images each.
    Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
    Thanks!

  • I need to reinstall but I don't know how to put the file in the original files place. I am so confused!

    I am trying to reinstall cs3 But the download instructions say:  "Before you begin additional installations or reinstallations, please make sure the installer is in the same location or drive it was during the original installation."  But that program is not even in my computer anymore. so how am I supposted to do that?

    Many thanks diesel.  I cannot remember ever having an administrator password. Looks like I shall have to do a restore on my PC and not bother with the updates.  Or maybe I could find my password from somewhere ? When I went into control panel I found a box with administrator and my name and it said password protected so I must have had one at some time. Any ideas on how I could find it ? Many thanks anyway. I always use a password to sign on but obviously that is not it.  Eileen

  • How can I spot quickly dublicated and copies of my original files?

    Hi,
    I am running out of space and cant seem to see why the little number of files that I assume that I have takes so much space!
    I do suspect that I have dublicated files and several copies of original files (the file/s and folder/s names might be differing somehow, but most likely the content is the same or differ only slightly.
    Is there a very fast and smart way to locate such dublicated and copied files of my original files anywhere on my Macbook?
    I have applied some of the suggestions made in the forums on these topics, but non-was useful till now!

    Thank you for your support, and suggestions.
    On the side may I ask you, considering a good cloud services compared to your suggested kind of HDD, which one would you end up suggesting more decisively incl. value for money / security / reliability / usefulness / user-orienttion?
    As to my case, I have discovered many files, on my HDD that I "download" through opening the same emails with attachments several times - unknowingly! They were download each time without me being aware of this! I said without being aware as I didnt save them I just opened them to view as far as I am aware. The file names seem to change either at the beginning or end. Thats why I wasnt able to locate them quickly, and ended up with many dublicates, with small sized files its not an issues but if they are multimedia files and large ones they do take much space!
    Is there a way to avoid this, while opening email attachments to view, what the stuff is all about before either deciding to save or skip after viewing?

  • Custom File Name-Original File Number doesn't work. Why?

    I want to export and rename some files with the "Custom File Name-Original File Number" option. Yet this doesn't seem to work, and I wondered what I might be doing wrong. The filename will only rename as the custom text.
    The sample file name shown underneath has a dash after the custom text bit, but then the extension only eg Newname-.tif
    I am now using LR 4.2 but I seem to remember doing this renaming OK with an earlier version (though I can't remember which). This suggest that either there is a problem with this specific version or that I have something set differently to the way I had it initially. I am hoping the latter is the case. Any suggestions as to how to fix this would be welcome!

    I am sorry to report that i don't know how to create a screenshot. However, what I am getting, exact;ly is this:
    From Library grid view: F2 or Library>Rename Photo
    Then little screen appears with heading Rename Photo:
    File Naming> set to Custom Name - Original File Number
    Custom Text> NewFilenameHere
    Example: NewFilenameHere-.tif
    Clicking on OK changes the filename to just the custom text without the original file number. Original File name shows in metadata eg DSC01129-Edit.tif
    The only way i seem to be able to get the original file number with the custom text is to include it manually as part of the custom text.

  • "Show File" & "Show Original File" nonfunctional

    Hey all -
    When I right click any image in my library and click either "Show File" (or "Show Original File" for edited photos), a Finder window is always brought to the front, *showing the root directory* (/). Needless to say, that doesn't help much. =) I've tried restarting both the application and the computer, both to no avail. Repairing permissions doesn't help, but a Spotlight search of the photos' filenames does locate them. Other functionalities in iPhoto appear to be normal. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hey all. I think I solved my own mystery, so I'll share it with everyone here.
    Using the third party software +iPhoto Library Manager+ from +Fat Cat Software+, I routed iPhoto to a different library. There, the two said commands work fine. (Though it first opens the "John Smith's Computer" screen, then opens the correct location after a short delay.) From this, I knew that my library must have been corrupt somewhere.
    I tried rebuilding my iPhoto library following the instructions as detailed here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107947 . That didn't solve the issue, so I think I'm going to have to do a manual rebuild sometime in the future (also described on that page).
    Hope this helps someone out there, if they come across an issue like this in the future. Cheers!
