XML Forms - Cannot append a text to a document node.

Hi,
I just created a new xml form as a copy of another working    form.
I changed a bit in it and tried to run both i preview an real. Edit worked and renderlistitem worked. On the Show I got the error in the bottom.
I tried to remove all the elements again, down to the displayname. But still I get the same error.
I'm on NW04s SP9

Hi Rasmus,
Quite probable your XSL is broken.
> tried to remove all the elements again
So two possibilities:
(a) You tried to - but failed
(b) You are the victim of a cache
Wait for at most 30 minutes and/or recheck your changes.
Hope it helps

  • XML forms - how to assign KM folder for documents?

    Hi guys!
I have created an XML forms application and iViews for authoring and display.. But one of the Iviews' property (KM navigation iView) is the name of the folder for the XML documents...
My question is - how to set, where to save the documents form XML forms application? In which KM folder?
I created the application, but in KM was no new folder for my documents.. Is it needed to set-up explicitly?
    Thanx for answer!
    Peter

    Hi Peter
The location has to be specified if you are creating a KM Navigation iview. You can specify the location to an already existing folder. It is better to create separate folder in KM for storing the documents.
The folder path has to be specified in the "Path to Initially Displayed Folder" property of the KM Navigation iview. The default value is
    Path to Initially Displayed Folder:/documents/News
In this case all the documents created is stored in the "News" folder.
The documents can also be created by using the menu options  in KM. (Folder->New->Forms->your form)

    Hi Ramalakshmi,
it is hard to help you by just reading your error message - but:
It seems that you mapped an XML node to some text control in your form.
Could you remove all mappings and try again? If it works, please add your mappings step by step and see when the error occurs.

  • XML Forms Behaviour

    Hi all!
I've finished a XML Forms Application which will be very similar to Announcements: a Date field and a Text field, simple as that. However, i am trying now to simulate with this application the behaviour that Collaboration Banner iView has: In one iView, i want to show the "Edit" form only, as there will be one and only one item of this XML type at all times. In other iView, i want to show the "Show" form to display this edited item.
I can't show the ListItems to the user as there will be only one of these structures at any given time. So, i expect it to work like the Banner: a view for Editing (shows the Edit form) and a view for displaying the single item (shows the Show form).
Anyone has any idea of how to implement this? I've tried creating some layout sets but it always show the List view like the NewsBrowser.
    Thanks in Advance!
    Thiago

    Hi Detlev,
Another nice tip here... sure was helpful, i've created the XML Forms Editor iView from par and supplied the XML Form ID for the iView parameter. It shows the edit form, just as i designed in XML Forms builder. However, it throws an error like this when i save:
    XML - Forms
    Cannot read item b01cf85d-3264-2810-0cb2-b1fc2133b48a.xml
And it says it was an InvalidURIException. The only thing i didn't do was specify the query string as you did in your post, so it has no reference to the URI. How can i supply this URI to the iView? I have to do it by Navigation API concatenating programatically, or is there any iView Parameter where i can inform this?
    Thank you!
    Thiago Souza
PS: I've been looking into the Proxy solution you pointed, thanks for the hint!

  • How can i convert the HTML information in XML form to a PDF?

Hi does any body know how can i convert the content of an HTML field in a XML Form in a regular text to include in a PDF in a Java program?

    Hi ,
On the tool bar you have an option "Browser" which is next to "HTML Editor" .
You know that for using these elements wo have to map them with Data Schema.
    Step by step
    1. In data Model Under Data Schema Add a child and name it Read_More.
    2. In the left hand corner ,click on tab Type and from the drop down select "rid"
3.Click on the "Browser" from the toolbar (as told earlier) and drag and drop it on the form.
    4. Drag the Data schema which u have made(Read_more) and drop it on the browser on form. On right hand side u will se the mapping done.
5.Click on the "Browser" which is there in the form and on the right hand side of the form u will see the property window.
6.In property window change the value of action property to "Item Entry point"
    7. Repeat step 3 and 4 in Render and show form but using "label" nad not browser.
Do not forget to add Save button in Edit Form.
    This will solve your problem.
    PS:Rewards Point Please.

  • Help needed - XML forms not displaying in my repository

    Hi all
I could really do with some help here.  I have a custom XML form for news articles.  It works fine in the standard documents repository, but I have my iView pointing to a folder in my own CM repository.
When a user tries to directly access the "show" form, instead of the form it displays the XML code.  Any ideas why this is?
My CM repository is running the following services:
    layout, properties, svc_acl, tbp
    EP6SP14
    Thanks!  Chris

    Hello,
I have the same problem. When I'm trying to create an XML file using XML form in the repository /etc, I get the following error:
    XML - Forms
Cannot create item e0977870-cf29-2d10-bb89-d00b5761268c.xml in collection /etc/public/; operation is not supported.
When I do the same in repository /documents, it works fine.
I think, I've made the neccesary settings for the repository (Form Based Publishing, ...).
Any clues will be highly appreciated.

  • Get Room Categories in XML Form

    Dear all
I am creating an XML form. In one Text Area i want to get the available room Categories. How can i get that done?
    Regards
    Aparnna

    Hi,
If u want to create your own property do the following:
Create a property group and a document property with the permitted values(ie. you want to display in the dropdown list box in XFB).
    <b>To create a Group:</b>
For that, goto System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> Property Metadata -> Groups -> New -> Give Name for the Group -> Ok
    <b>To Create a property Values:</b>
System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> Property Metadata -> Properties -> New -> Give values to Unique ID, Description, Data type, Group (What u have created in the Group, select that from the dropdown list box), select maintainable check box, Default Value and Allowed Values.
To reload the properties from the configuration in the XML forms Builder, use the secondary mouse button to click on Properties on the tab page Data Model, and then choose Reload Properties or just close and open the XML Form Builder once. The property appears under the name of the group.  Create a combobox control with a reference to the property on the Edit form.
Finally, your own properties will displayed in XML Form Builder.
If u have still more doubts, i will help you.

  • How to display system property in XML forms

    Hi
We are using XML forms template for publishing news in KM. In the show form we got author field (a label in the form) which is mapped to system property createdby (PropertyReference = /Properties/default:createdby).But while displaying the form author is not getting populated. When I try to edit the form in XML forms builder in data model tab under properties node no property is visible. Nothing is shown up in properties even after reload option is selected from context menu of properties node.
I cheked by manually editing PropertyReference to some other property (e.g. modifiedby) but nothing is showing up.
Can you please suggest how the createdby system property can be shown in the xml form?
    Thanks & Regards
    Sudip

    Hi Sudeep,
Please try to open the formbuilder in another machine and try to see the properties xml form design view.
You can even directly can create a lable in show form and add the property name along with the nama space name.
For default properties namspace is default.Create a lable UI element in show form and select the datasource property and add the property value in that.
With we can show file related system generated properties in show form.

  • Link in xml form article text to open another portal page?

Like in all websites our intranet have pages with articles (xml forms) where it's logical for the text to include links to other articles in other areas of the portal.
Since all iviews (km navigation in this case) are displayed as iframes, links within the text only lead to the target page being displayed within the iview/iframe. I need the complete portal page to change to also show where in the page hierachy/navigation structure the user has landed.
I am aware of the related links iview, but this doesn't do the trick. I want the article text itself to include the links.
A logical solution would be to find the page's navigation URL and use this as a text link, but then I would need to add a target=_top to change the whole page around. This is not possible within a xml form. (<a href="/irj/portal?NavigationTarget= navurl://cf1c773631c70d216fe3434ca4dc3a0e" target="_top")
    Ideas?
    Henning

    Thanks for answer. Points awarded.
BUT: Still, a link to http://server/irj/portal/link added in the html editor window of an xml form only give the options of opening the link in new browser, or in the active window. The first option results in a massive amount of opened browsers, the second results in the target page being opened in the iframe (not nice!)
Of course I could edit the xml directly adding a target=_top, but every new editing of this file would overwrite these changes.
The best way would be to add a new option in the html editor allowing an option of "fill entire window" when adding a text link that adds target=_top in the xml.
    Ideas?

I really have no idea what kind of file that is and how is the structure, but if it´s valid XML, I guess you could use InDesigns Tags to Styles mapping engine to format incoming stuff....

  • XML forms: Appending new news with previous ones

    Hi all
I have created XML form for displaying news. I have created views for creating and viewing the news.
What I need is that whenever the user creates a news , it should append the previous ones rather than generating a new xml form for it so that the reader can access it in one place.
    Can anybody help in this?
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi,
try if the ListView fits your needs. Normally you would generate a detailled view for a single news and an abstract view for the list. But you are free to reuse the detailled view for the lists. That way, complete news items will appear in one big List (look for NewsExplorer) and can be scrolled there.
You should alos check whether using listviews and explorer solves your problem without redundant displays. I prefer the Title/Abstract list and the details-popup.
    hope that helps

  • XML Form-Text

    Hi friendz
In xml ,in edit form we specify address of image ,and in show form we can see the image for which we had passed address.
in the same way i need to pass address of text file in edit form and in show form i need to display the text file.
    Pls help
    Thanks

    Hi,
I can think of two options:
    1. You implement your own ResourceRenderer and render text from links. In your ResourceRenderer you should extend the rendering logic of XMLResourceRenderer.
    2. The other way which is may be more complex is to implement your own XML Forms Repository Filter, where during transformation of XML to HTML you convert links into text.

Both the approches need custom coding.

  • Lifetime in xml forms - final users cannot see available docs

Hi, I have a News xml forms project integrated with Approval process, and I want to integrate lifetime too.
    1) How do I to enable Lifetime??
What I did is the following: I`ve enabled Lifetime in the folder containing the docs, and I setup manually the validto and validfrom properties (Details->Settings->Properties->Lifetime) of every doc, and the only people who can see the docs are those that have write permission on the folder (and myself too).
I´ve read a lots of forums and I did everything that they say but successless.
    Could anybody help me??
    Well, Thanks in advance!!
    Marcelo
ps: I didnt forget to publish every doc after I modified the valid to/from properties.   ideas?

    Hola Juan
In my case, i had no CM System selected on Task Scheduler.
So check System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> Scheduler Tasks -> Check valid from -> TimeBasePublishingPublish
(idem for Check valid until -> TimeBasePublishingUnpublish)
At that point, you must check if you have selected any CM System, if not, select one. Help Sap says that that field is optional...but, well, as you can see, I had no cm system selected, and after I selected one, the lifetime began working very well.
    check <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/d1/5b6635f5e0ef428fb513336881679b/frameset.htm">Scheduler Tasks for Time-Dependent Publishing</a>
    Hope it helps!!
