Xorg.conf warnings and errors (hotplugging)

Does my xorg.conf look ok?
Just wondering how to fix the warnings and errors in it.

Looks to me like you either need to disable hotplugging or comment out your devices. To disable hotplugging put
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"
EndSection
in there, otherwise, just comment out your devices in xorg.conf and read up on hotplugging.
Thanks josomebody, autoadddevices has already been disabled though.

  • Local client copy with warnings and errors

    Hi ,
I am doing a local client copy and is still running . There are a few large tables which have not been copied successfully and is shown under "Warnings and Error". The tables show "Program Cancel (See SM21)". In SM21 , I find the workprocess was disconnected from the database.
Now my questions is , once all the remaining tables complete , will I be given an option to repeat the copy for the failed tables only. The system is 6 TB and it is running for more than 15 days now.
    Please suggest.
    Regards
    Ratnajit

will I be given an option to repeat the copy for the failed tables only
No, it doesn't ask you to repeat copy only for failed tables.
The system is 6 TB and it is running for more than 15 days now
What is the requirement to do such BIG client copy?

  • Xcode problem,  how do I get rid of doubled up warnings and error messages?

One of my cocoa projects is always showing the compiler warnings and error messages twice. It is only happening in one project which indicates to me that it must be something in this particular project configuration.
I have looked high and low for setting to control this behaviour in Xcode.
There must be a way to correct this behaviour.
    I am using Xcode 3.1.4

You have to get rid of the triggers....and cleaning up the code is the only way to do that. As you've noted, it only happens in one project.

  • How to get Flash Builder problems tab (warnings and errors) in english

    Hi,
my Flash Builder installation is showing the warnings and errors in Finnish. I get the idea behind this and the reason is good, as I'm native speaker of the language. Nevertheless it has some drawbacks when trying to resolve the issue by googling the error because Finnish is pretty marginal language and almost every Finnish Flex developer writes his/her posts in English. So either I have to try to guess the problems correct translation in English, which can be hopeless, or try to google it in Finnish which, as said, returns about zero results.
That said, I'm wondering if it's possible to change the warnings and problems in English? Do I need to reinstall Flash Builder to accomplish this?
    Best regards,
    Jukka Hämäläinen

    Hi, thanks for fast reply.
Unfortunately I already tried that with no success. The strange thing is, that in my Flash Builder plugin directory in eclipse.ini the language was already declared as follows:
    -nl
    en_US
Didn't even touch that, it was there before and still my errors and warnings were (and still stay) in Finnish (everything else in Eclipse is in English).
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    Jukka

  • What does this mean and how do I fix it: "The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:  - There appears to be a broken asset in your project. Correct this problem before burning this project."

What does this mean and how do I fix it: "The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:  - There appears to be a broken asset in your project. Correct this problem before burning this project."

It means that iDVD has found a problem with one of the movies added to the project.  Did you edit the movie after it had been added to the project.
Create a new project and add your assets, movies, slides, etc. again and follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Updated today and got warnings and errors from haskell package.

Hello. I updated today and got errors and warnings form the haskell package.
Do I need to fix anything? Kind of worried. I can still successfully recompile my xmonad configuration.
    Thank you very much.

My update didn't fail though. When I run pacman -Rsc haskell-transformers it complains that the package is not found.

  • Gnome 2.24 warnings and errors

I've just about got everything sorted out now after the upgrade to gnome 2.24 but I'm still getting a few errors and warnings when I start/shutdown and wondered whether there are any easy fixes before I start posting bug reports.
    On startup:
Oct 25 09:53:23 bonobo-activation-server (david-6475): could not associate with desktop session: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-4DCzwZ4GTH: Connection refused
Oct 25 09:53:47 darkstar gnome-session[6510]: WARNING: Application 'libcanberra-login-sound.desktop' failed to register before timeout
Oct 25 09:59:26 bonobo-activation-server (david-7070): could not associate with desktop session: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-C1a5A6WFBC: Connection refused
Oct 25 09:59:51 darkstar gnome-session[7105]: WARNING: Application 'libcanberra-login-sound.desktop' failed to register before timeout
    On shutdown:
Oct 25 00:12:33 darkstar gnome-session[4241]: WARNING: Running '/usr/bin/gconftool-2 --shutdown' at logout returned an exit status of '15'
An exit status of '15' is GCONF_ERROR_NO_WRITABLE_DATABASE, i.e. nowhere to write a value.  Running /usr/bin/gconftool-2 --shutdown from the console stops gconfd-2 without any errors, so I guess that something is happening out of order at shutdown.

I looked and I already had:
    policykit:x:1005:
    in /etc/group and
    policykit:x:102:1005:PolicyKit:/:/sbin/nologin
in /etc/passwd.  These entries both seem to be consistent with the actions in the policykit package's install script.  There was nothing in /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf but the template structure before I started editing it.
If I wanted to have a whinge then I would say that, as a home user running Linux on his home PC, I have little or no need for something like PolicyKit and it's perhaps a bit worrying that I'm getting close to running Linux in administrator mode, much like I used to do when running Windows XP.
EDIT: After reading a little more of the PolicyKit documentation and also taking a peek at what Ubuntu includes in its policykit deb, I changed /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf to:
    <config version="0.1">
    <match user="root">
    <return result="yes"/>
    </match>
    <define_admin_auth group="wheel"/>
    </config>
and everything still seems to work.  Maybe this is a little more secure.

  • Removal of the warnings and error messages

    Hi,
I am using JAXB to read/write some objects. I wish to know how to disable(just prevent it from being displayed thats all) the warnings/errors that arise due to the non-compliance to the schema.
    Thanks in advance,
    Achyuth Krishna

For validation errors and warnings detected while unmarshalling XML data into Java objects, to disable it use method Unmarhaller.setValidating(false)

    Two points.
    1.       Vista is an unsupported operating system for CS6
    2.       It looks like the only issue here is the 64 bit applications not installing which would make sense since you’re using a 32 bit operating system.

Thanks for posting this wizzard. After an upgrade of xorg I have been struggling to make a conf file that worked. Adding to a minimal file is easier than pruning a full one. I used your minimal xorg.conf and added:
    Option "PreferredMode" "1280x1024"
in the monitor section and now all is well. (I think my monitor is non-standards-compliant. It causes problems so the option is needed)

  • Creation of Functional, Minimal, and Correct Xorg.conf [SOLVED]

Being fairly new to GNU/Linux in general, and totally green in doing things myself, I foolishly avoided the building of an xorg.conf. Following the beginner's guide in the wiki, I just did an "xorg --configure" which created a base xorg.conf for me. It worked, and I noticed no problems in the general use of my window manager (xmonad). I have an ATI Mobility Radeon X1300.
I discovered today that I was using the radeonhd driver which was giving me terrible performance in OpenGL applications, so edited xorg.conf to revert back to the plain radeon driver. Upon restarting X, my performance problems were gone, but my fonts in the Firefox interface devolved... I have taken this a wakeup call to actually write a good xorg.conf and to understand what everything in it is for.
I have done plenty of configuration, though I have never before looked into editing the dreaded xorg.conf, coming from Ubuntu, so I know very little. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Specifics:
    What parts are necessary?
How do I get the fonts I had before back?
Graphics is all that concerns me, I have no strange input devices, and my touchpad works fine (I configured the fdi files for that).
I will list my current xorg.conf below. Fonts worked before I changed the driver from radeonhd to radeon and enabled the option for EXA. Before these changes, all the text contained therein was created automagically by xorg. I have a feeling most of this is unnecessary.

X searches all of the directories that you had in your original xorg.conf file, and it will load whatever it needs automatically. I don't think your problem is specifically with xorg.conf (or lack of), I think what you're seeing is the DPI changing between drivers.
Try this with each driver loaded and see if they're different:
    xdpyinfo | grep resolution
    Ah, yes indeed!
    radeonhd: 96x96
    radeon: 129x127
How do I get X with the radeon driver to use 96x96?
EDIT: Adding a dpi argument of 96 to /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc fixed the problem. I didn't occur to me that the two drivers would use different dpis.
    Thank you so much!

  • Black screen instead of TTYs after Xorg once started and leaved

    Hi,
I've installed Arch on my laptop and experience following issue... I log in after boot and run "startx", then openbox starts properly. This is fine, but when I leave X, I can't see anything (TTY expected). I can switch to another TTY, login as root and type "reboot" or type "killall X", then log in as regular user and type "startx" to get openbox again. So there are TTYs obviously but I can't see anything but black screen.
By leaving X (above) I mean...
    - typing "sudo killal X" in xterm
    - using openbox "Log Out" menu option
    - switching to another TTY by hitting Alt+Fn
All of these lead to the same issue.
I assume it's not Xorg problem, but I may be wrong of course. Is that driver related? I have Nvidia card and use proprietary drivers installed via pacman. Can anybody give me an advice where to look? Thanks a lot. I also attach (maybe relevant) outputs. If there is anything else needed to know please tell me and I'll post it.

I was having this exact same problem, then it just stopped. I am using the nouveau driver and I have a tnt2 card.
IIRC, I was having an unrelated problem with xorg or udev or something was having problems detecting my monitor, it claimed I had two monitors connected, I wrote an xorg.conf file and that fixed the problem. IDK if its is related or not because I don't recall exactly when things started working when I would switch ttys.
Try using the nouveau driver and see if it does the same thing, it has a kernel module so it might make difference,

  • 5-screen (multi-monitor) nVidia xorg.conf -- my setup

Hi. I would like to share my xorg.conf, since it took forever to get right.
There isn't a lot of information out there for folks using > 2 monitors, or several graphics cards, or esoteric setups including rotation etc. I hope this will be useful; I wouldn't mind contributing to the wiki if anybody thinks it might be useful.
So first up: hardware. I have
nVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti connected to a 24" monitor (in the middle)
nVidia GeForce 210 connected to two 19" monitors, rotated into portrait (on either side of the 24")
nVidia GeForce GT 440 connected to two 15" monitors (above the 24")
here is a picture of the monitors, click for a bigger version
Drivers: I'm using the official nVidia drivers, I couldn't get nouveau to work. Since I am using Xinerama, the XRandR extension isn't loaded -- therefore my setup won't be suitable for people whose screen configuration changes dynamically. But I'd prefer not to use Xinerama, and even to use nouveau if possible; if anybody has a similar configuration working with nouveau, please share
Finally, the actual config itself. Here it is on pastebin.
    Rotation
The correct way to rotate monitors in xorg.conf is through the metamodes option of the Screen section. On my Screen 2 and 4 (the two 19" monitors), you can see that
    { Rotation = left }
has been added at the end of the metamodes option. Contrary to some other guides floating around, it is not necessary to specify these options:
    # Unnecessary
    Option "RandRRotate" "on"
    Option "Rotate" "right"
I believe these come from an earlier version of Xorg. They don't have any effect when I put them in my xorg.conf, using Xorg 1.12.4 and nVidia 304.43.
Even when I specified rotate in metamodes, my monitors didn't appear to rotate because I had originally written
    Option "metamodes" "CRT-1: nvidia-auto-select +0+0 { Rotation = left} "
    instead of
    Option "metamodes" "DFP-1: nvidia-auto-select +0+0 { Rotation = left} "
This just made rotation fail silently, with no error message. Make sure to specify DFP if you're using a digital output (DVI, HDMI, DP) and CRT only if you're using a VGA output on your graphics board.
    Tips
When you're testing out a new Xorg.conf, you can use
    startx -- :1
to start a new X server without killing the current one. See if your configuration works, then switch back to your original X server by pressing Cmd-Alt-F7.
You should also keep a log of different configurations you have tried. You can use a version control system like git to track changes to your Xorg.conf; make sure you document every change you have made, and why, it can prove invaluable later on.
Feel free to ask about this setup. I would like to know something: what is the function of the Screen option in the Device section? On the four Device entries for my nVidia 210 and 440 cards, there is an option called Screen; when I take it out, the setup breaks. Why are they there? And why do they not map to the screen numbers in the Screen section? (They are numbered 0, 0, 1, 1 rather than 1, 2, 3, 4)

Thank you for the reply. I read the wiki page, but unfortunately I am still struggling with my two nvidia gpu, three monitor setup.
The red arrows show the pointer progression through the monitors (moving mouse left to right). When the cursor is on the top monitor, it becomes an X, and the screen is black.
    Here is the matching xorg.conf

Based on this post on archlinux, I took a crack at matching the xorg.conf pattern above (monitor/device/screen sections) with my own. I took it as a victory that it actually didn't error (many xorg.conf experiments have in the last couple of days have). Here is my new xorg.conf with 3 screens/3 monitors/3 devices:

This what appears with the new xorg.conf:
"leftAcer" and "rightAcer" appear, but nothing appears on "topAcer" (it appears not to be getting a signal from the gpu). I can move the mouse pointer between "leftAcer" and "rightAcer".
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Here are a few details about the hardware setup:
GeForce 9600 GT is in the PCI:1 slot. It's DVI out is going to "acerLeft", it's VGA out is going to "acerRight".
GeForce GT 610 is in PCI:2 slot. It's VGA out is going to "acerTop".
    thanks!

  • Xorg.conf question

I am kind of embarassed to ask this question, but I have to. Where do I find xorg.conf? Do I even have such a file? It is not in /etc/X11.
When I installed Xorg, I also installed hal and then added it to module list in rc.conf. Does hal just detect my xorg settings everytime I run X, thus eliminating the need for xorg.conf?

The only solution was to boot from a live distro and edit the xorg.conf from there. I think the problem was the missing hal daemon - im not sure.
There's a much easier way - boot into single user mode (either add "single" or "init=3" to the kernel line in grub) and edit your xorg.conf using nano or any other text editor.
Now, hal is *required*  as long as you don't have Option "AutoAddDevices" "False" in your xorg.conf. If you try to start X without having hal running, you will not be able to use your mouse/keyboard (again, if this happens, boot into single user mode and edit your xorg.conf). If you disable hotplugging (AutoAddDevices false), hal is optional (correct me if i'm wrong), but many features of KDE/Gnome depend on hal and won't work without it.
Personally, I'd recommend going with hotplugging and hal. First, try starting X without an xorg.conf. If everything looks good, you're done (on my notebooks I don't have xorg.conf). You might need xorg.conf to set stuff like your screen resolution - generate it (if you have an nvidia gfx card, use nvidia-xconfig), but make sure there are no lines concerning your mouse/keyboard in xorg.conf.
And, like paulez posted, you will need xf86-input-evdev.

  • [SOLVED]XFCE requires xorg.conf

    Hi all,
I was using Zenwalk Linux since 4 years, and made my mind to install Arch Linux. I installed it using the help of Installation Guide. Thanks to the Arch Linux team for providing such a nice descriptive and useful forum through which any newbie can migrate to Arch Linux easily.
I thought of installing XFCE as my Desktop environment as I was using the same previously. I installed LXDM login manager, and the X session I edited to start up with XFCE.
With the login to init 5, I got the error as "Frequency Out of Range" and the screen went blank. Then somehow, I had the xorg.conf and xorg.conf-vesa file of my older Zenwalk System. I copied it to /etc/X11 directory and rebooted to solve the problem.
I dont know whether xorg.conf is needed or not. 'lspci' noted my video driver as
    01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. VT8375 [ProSavage8 KM266/KL266]
I have installed savage-dri and xf86-video-savage from Arch Repo.
I thought of sharing the same so that it might be helpful to someone (or else, if someone can give a better solution, it will be helpful for me too).
    Thanks in advance.
    With regards,

I'm not surprised that an old card would require an xorg.conf file to work correctly. Do you mean that another desktop environment from the Arch repos can work on your system without an xorg.conf? And only XFCE results in an error? Then that would be weird.
