XP Oracle9 Developer2000 (Forms5) Listener ORA-03121
Whilst I appreciate this is de-supported...
I have Oracle9 installed on XP.
I have Forms5 and Forms6 installed too.
Forms6 connects to the database OK.
Forms5 errors with ORA-03121 no interface driver connected
Can anyone offer any guidance regarding this issue.
My email account is [email protected]
Mark,
I believe the problem may be XP related or with Forms 5 & 6 in the same Oracle Home. I am running Win2K Pro, Forms 4.5, Forms 6i, and Forms 9i. I am able to connect to Oracle DB 8i and 9i from all developer versions.
Again, I think your problem is with XP or as Frank stated earlier, with installing Forms 6 into the same oracle home as Forms 5.
I have all three products in their own Oracle Home. My Dev 2K products are in the Default_home and Dev 6i and 9i iDS products are in their own respective homes. This works for me (and everyone else in the shop) without any problems.
Oracle 9i Documentation states:
ORA-03121 no interface driver connected - function not performed
Cause: This message occurs usually because the Net8 driver is not loaded into memory or there is a mismatch of the version of the driver. A user program linked with an obsolete library may also cause this message. Only programs provided by Oracle Corporation should use this interface.
Action: If the message occurred during use of a program provided by Oracle Corporation, contact Oracle Support Services. If a user program caused the message, relink the program with current versions of the Oracle libraries.

After succesful installation of Oracle9i Enterprise Edition on windows2000 server. When we installed Forms5 on same machine it shows ora-03121 no interface driver connected.
Another message is ora-12203 TNS unable to connect to destination.Kindly suggest where things got wrong

vikasForms 5.0 expects to be installed into the "Default" oracle home - this generally means that you have to install it onto the box first and then install any multi-Oracle home products such as the database afterwards.
Forms 5.0 should certainly not be installed into the same oracle home as a 9i database -
ORA-03121: No interface driver connect
Hi there,
can anybody solve my problem? i have installed Personal Oracle8 and then i installed Developer 2000 forms 4.5.
Now i am trying to connect with Oracle 8 from developer but it is showing ORA-03121 error.
when i check the error detail, it says Net8 driver not load in memory or there is mismatch of version.
one thing noticible that i have SQL*PLUS 8 and SQL*PLUS 3.2 both installed .
i want to be able to connect with database from Developer so that i can run form.
Any kind of help or advice from you professionals will be extremely helpful.
Regards
Abid MalikTo start the listener from command line issue lsnrctl start.
To configure SQLNET use the SQLNET easy config utility that came with the Forms installation.

ORA-03121 After installing Gateway
Hello Experts,
i am trying to connec to MS Sql Server 2000 on remote win2003 machine by using my machine which is WinXP Oracle 10g 10.1.0.2. I installed and configure Gateway as well which is on diffrent home than the oracle in my machine.
when i issue command on SQL Prompt
connect imosadmin/imos@odbc:dsnimos
i got
ORA-03121: no interface driver connected - function not performed
where as dsnimos is a dsn to MS SQL Server2000
and imosadmin/imos is a username and password for the database.
After doing all this my other database services also stop working :(
Please check the configurations which i made as well may be i am wrong somewhere.....
For further info i am pasting my configuration files.

But checking your config you have...
To start with, activate an sqlnet trace on your database, add following lines to the sqlnet.ora in your C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\ path:
TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT=16
TRACE_FILE_CLIENT=client.trc
TRACE_FILE_DIRECTORY=C:\TEMP
and restart your SQL*Plus session and try the select again. This should generate a sqlnet client trace which hopefully will show why the database cannot resolve 'tg4msql' to the tnsnames.ora entry specified. For example are you using the TNS_ADMIN variable?

I installed Personal Oracle 8i, and Oracle Forms.
When I try to connect to a SQL*Server database using a DSN, I get the following:
ORA-03121 no interface driver connected - function not performed.
Do I need OCA installed?
Can I download this from somewhere (doesn't seem to be avialble from oracle.com)?
nullYou most certainly can connect to a personel oracle database
using sqlnet. If fact you can connect to an oracle database
running on a win95 platform from another pc running on a
network. All you need to do is insure that the database listener
is running on the platform where the personel oracle is
installed.

nullI assume that your database is V8. If so, developer V1&V2) and
designer (V1&V2) will only connect through V2 of sqlnet. You
need to have an entry in your tnsnames.ora file and have the
listener running. If you do not want to enter the alias portion
of the connect string then enter the registry variable LOCAL. Set
the LOCAL variable to the alias of your database entry in the
tnsnames.ora file.

AC-50480 error while generating listener.ora while running autoconfig
Hi,
I am trying my first clone on R1213. We have a split tier configuration. I am able clone the database server successfully.
Now when I run 'perl adcfgclone appsTier', during the autoconfig part, it fails with the error message AC-50480 : Error while generating listener.ora
I have followed note
AC-50480" Error Generating the "listener.ora" File. [ID 1089036.1]
During Autoconfig "adgentns.pl" fails: "AC-50480: Internal error occurred: java.lang.Exception: Error while generating listener.ora" [ID 453901.1]
derigistered bothe the servers
ran autoconfig on the DB
Verified the contents of FND_NODES table.
Everything looks fine, but it still errors during autoconfig.
There is no listener file under $TNS_ADMIN.
There is tnsnames.ora under $TNS_ADMIN
Any clue?

What's wrong with my listener.ora?
Hello.
I must say I've never understood how listener.ora works (it used to work but someone modified it), but by now it'd be enough to know what's wrong with this:

This is my entry in my local tnsnames.ora:
CSR2.world =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = zippo)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =

An this, the entry in the entntry at the server's tnsnames.ora:

ORA-03121 when trying to connect to Access
Hello all,
maybe somebody can help: while trying to establish ODBC connection from Discoverer 3.1 to MS Access database I get an error:
"Failed to connect to Database ORA-03121: no
interface driver connected - function not performed "
I was using DNS created for Access and connect string like:
username/password@ODBC:DNSname
Regards,

[email protected]Thanks for your reply.
But the funny thing on this compatibility issues is, that this configuration worked before. The only thing we did, was to setup the client-PC on a new hardware with also a new operating system (upgrading from Solaris 5.8 to 5.10). And from that time we encountered this problem.
Are there any OS-related problems known or better to say: is (was) ORACLE 7.1.3 supported on Solaris 5.10 ? Should we look for any patches which might help us ? -

(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL= IPC)(KEY = ORCL))
how can i do this .It is not recommended to change the name for an IP addressIt is not recommended by who? AFAIK there is no such sentence in documentation.
But there is other:
host Required. Specify the host name or IP address of the database server computer.
Instad of "It is not recommended..." better use "Consider this..."
, as if ever it changes in the future, you'll have to be back and change once again your ip.The same is truth when we are speaking about FQDN (fully qualified domain name).
How often your company changes the IP adresses on server platform?
My experience from past:
First case:
My company has rebranded and and domain name has been changed but IP has not. Unfortunatelly we were not using OID for resolving. If there were FQDN used then would have to make changes in many files. Fortunatelly we were using IP addresses.
Now we are using OID for resolving of tnsnames (as primary method).
What I want to say is both solutions (FQDN or IP) are fine. Each of them has some advantages and also disadvantages. -

I'm trying to set up my linux box so someone can telnet in and run a couple of queries in SQL*PLUS. I have th tnsnames.ora file setup correctly - I think. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with listener.ora. I know that this file is used by lsnrctl. Can someone give me some help with this? Thanks.
How did u know that your tnsnames.ora works, when you have not setup listener.ora?
Anyway, this might help:
