Xperia Z1 Compact touchscreen completely unresponsive!

If anyone could assist here, would be really appreciated.  My Xperia Z1 Compact touchscreen has become completely unresponsive for no rhyme or reason!  It had some sound output issues when upgraded to Lollipop which were resolved but today, I noticed that the SIM card slot cover was not closed properly so I opened and closed it.  Next thing I know the screen is totally unresponsive to touch or swipe. Displays fine.  Tried rebooting using power/volume +, removing SIM card, removing memory card, and then updating/repairing via Sony PC Companion (via USB).  Touchscreen is still completely unresponsive on booting up.  Please help if anyone has a potential solution.  I bought the phone just 6 months ago and was working perfect until Lollipop came along!!  Thanks much.

Hi Mutt, welcome to the community!
Rather than taking the phone to a Sony Centre, contact your local Sony Xperia Customer Care team to find out where their authorized repair agents are based and I am sure they will be able to organise for your phone to be sent in to be assessed under the terms of warranty. Am sorry to hear of the long wait you experienced last time.

  • Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Randomly Shut Down and Is completely Unresponsive

    HELP!
My phone has just randomly shut down. And is completely unresponsive.
I have put it on charge for a good 3/4 hours and the red light is not coming on, nothing happens when I try to turn on the phone either!!
    PLEASE HELP ME

Try performing a system repair as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
If that fails then you need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

  • Completely unresponsive touchscreen

I sent my Lumia 2520 in to troubleshoot the first instance of the completely unresponsive touchscreen in November 2014, just before the one year warranty expired. NOKIA took my device, labeled it "defective" after the inbound inspection. They then "repaired" it and returned it to me two weeks later.
Since then (and sadly, just days after the original one year warranty expired), on multiple occasions the touchscreen has become completely unresponsive. I'm now unable to turn it off or open the sleep screen to login. I've tried the home/power button reset option. Even that doesn't work.
Today when I tried to call their tech support at 888.665.4228, it rings once then times out in dead air.
If my device was identified as "defective," why did I not receive a NEW DEVICE as a replacement?
If the "defect" was repaired, at a minimum, the warranty for that repair should be extended to one year from date of repair, for the original owner.

Check the terms of the warranty which are usually provided as part of the documentation that you receive with the product, otherwise you can find it on the Microsoft web site for your country (warrsnty terms vary according to the laws of the country where the device is sold).
What you have received is normal service for virtually all major manufacturers: if a faulty device can be repaired, then it will be - you only get a replacement if repair proves impossible; and the original warranty does not extend after a repair.

  • Service Issue Of Xperia Z3 Compact

SONY MOBILE COMPLIANT - W115061501443 Hi, I purchased Sony Xperia Z3 Compact hardly 6 months back for 39000 INR. On 15 June 2015 my phone got dead suddenly. i have submitted my phone immediately to the service center on 15 june 2015. in 12 days my phone was not even picked by sony company from service center for repairing. every time i call or visit service center they said to me that your case is in pending status. they i send mail to     [email protected] on 18-june-2015  next day a person from sony company named Mr. Vijay Shukla Called Me And Said i will tell you and assist you completely on this matter kindly give me 1 day time to collect information about your device. now from next day to today i am calling that person and he is not even bothering to pick my call. i tried calling many times on toll free number of sony India 180030002800 they also tried contacting to service center and service head but till date i haven't got any clear response from company side. on 27-06-2015  i go to service center again coincidently Mr. Raman Senior Office of Sony india Is their .they also said to me that give me 2 more days i will give u response. even today(29-6-2015)  i didn't got any response from Mr. Raman. . what will i do Sony India . after pursuing a long while and communicate you over the phone and email at last you given me the above said handset stating that the problem of the handset is cure on 08/july/2015 after reciveing the handset i had faced the same problem in the handset that it is automaticly shut down today i have a word with Mr. Vijay Shukla on he told me to again drop the handset on service center. after this i personally met with Mr. Vijay Shukla on 10/07/2015 after discussing my problem they told me to go service center and asked them to talk with him. i go to service center after checking my device without opening they told me to replace simcard with a new one nano sim i even tried this i have purchased a new nano sim card and put it into the phone. then again after running 4-5 hr again it sis restating some time, shutdown automatically and even sometime not powering on. i tried calling again Mr.Vijay Shukla he said again go to service center and asked them to talk with him.  this is ridcullous that after almost a month you gave me the handset but their is no fruitfull result regarding the issue. When you buy a phone of 39000Rs , you atleast expect that you will be able to hear properly. Is Their Anyone Who Will listen my problem and solve my issue.

I'm sorry to hear that but this is a user based forum, you have to contact your local Xperia Care regarding this issue http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/contactUs/

  • Xperia z1 compact camera

i have heard that the camera on the z1 compact is a bit slow, is this true, and is the phone worth getting if the camera is my main reason for getting the phone. thanks

I bought the Sony Xperia Z1 compact for the camera as much as the phone and regret it. It could well be down to user error on my part but I can't find many of the options supposedly available in the marketing information. The  instructions in the user guide are incomplete if you are trying to resolve something - the manual mode is supposed to have an autofocus option whereby you touch the screen until the yellow box goes blue but on my phone you touch the screen and absolutely nothing happens whatsoever. Perhaps there are some other settings elsewhere that are required but personally I just don't know. I expected the camera to work like any normal digital SLr or camera phone that I have had in the past but it seems that this is not the case.
The camera is also locking up after one or two shots. If you contact Sony Support by email you wait two days and then get a reply suggesting you need to reset the phone and repair the software. They say that any user information may be lost and any such data should be backed up but there are no instructions on how to do this and what exectly will be lost is not specified. Again down to lack of understanding on my part but if you are in a similar position, don't bother with the phone. If you are an expert then you may fare better than me but that's for you to decide.
As part of the repair process, the instructions I received and that you have to perform yourself, add that any apps previously downloaded should not be re-downloaded for 48 hours and only one app should then be re-downloaded in each subsequent 24 hour period and tested against the camera just in case there is a conflict between the app and the camera. Since I have only downloaded 5 or 6 apps since getting the phone a couple of months ago this will not be too much of an issue BUT if you had downloaded 14 apps you would have to wait over two weeks to get the phone back to how it was.
I expected the phone to be sorted out for me by Sony. When you pay the best part of £400 for a phone with a camera that doesn't appear to work, I didn't expect to have to fix the problems with it out myself. Good luck is deciding what to - it seems to be a complete minefield out there.

  • IPhone 6 Plus completely unresponsive screen

I've had my iPhone 6+ since December, and the past few days for extended periods of time (3+ hours) my touchscreen is completely unresponsive. It's almost entirely random when it becomes usable again. I've tried the hard resets, and would do a plain shutdown if I had use of the screen, but alas, I do not. When it starts working again, it becomes completely functional and accurate. What can I do?

    Howdy bpowlison,

  • My sony xperia z1 compact won't turn on.

My sony xperia z1 compact won't turn on. If i plug it for charging the phone would light red and will vibrate and continuetp be like that. What will i do?

Guys, I am soon going to try this, and many said this worked.
    Equipment required:-
    - Sony Xperia Z/ZL/ZR/Z Ultra/Z1/Z1S/Z1f/Z1 Compact (Sorry, I am too detailed)
    - Magnetic Charger
    - Micro USB Charger (in basic terms, your normal charger)
    Reason:-
Sometimes, the device seems to 'forget' how to charge, thus this method shall work
    Instructions:-
    1. Leave your device to charge with the normal Micro USB charger for 2 hours, and try to do volume up + power on method
    2. If Step 1 doesn't work, connect the magnetic charger to the device and leave it to charge for about 30 - 45 minutes
    3. If your device seems to react by turning on, then leave it to charge for a bit longer
    4. If it seems to be working completely normally, then you can go back to using the Micro USB cable
    If:-
The device doesn't do anything differently after leaving it to charge on the magnetic charger, leave it for longer than what I stated previously (maybe 1 - 2 hours) and if nothing happens, then try and contact Sony, or take it to a local shop.
    So guys...
So guys, I hope this works for you guys, as this may/may not work for me. Alternatively, you can try and get a test or something done, so you can ensure it isn't a hardware problem (water damage, dislodged battery etc...)
    Kind Regards,

  • Blackberry Z10 to Xperia Z3 Compact connection issues

Hi all, Have replaced my Z10 with an Xperia Z3 Compact.Called into Optus and got them to set me up with a nano-sim and was told activation would be within 15 minutes to 4 hours. It's now three days later and no connection to network. Optus says the activation is all ok at their end. Phone is completely unlocked and was purchased new from JB Hi Fi outright. Any ideas?  I have tried to look at the APNs on the phone and it replied 'not available for this user'????  Is there a chance hat the APNs on the network are still set for a Blackberry?  Thanks,DJ

  • I'm running Windows 7 and occasionally, Firefox will become completely unresponsive and grey out, then none of my programs will open at all, including the Start menu, forcing me to use a hard restart and shut down. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not able to close and restart Firefox at all, since the computer becomes completely unresponsive, save for mouse input. Task Manager is also of no use.

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

  • Qosmio 870 completely unresponsive

I have been using my Qosmio 870 for about a year and a half now and have had it repaired once for issues with the fan (although to the best of my knowledge nothing was done to it except wiping my hard drive). Then out of nowhere, while I was not doing anything out of the ordinary, it shut down. It is completely unresponsive (no charging light or screen light when button is pressed). I have tried the "drain" or "reset" method with taking the battery out and whatnot and all of its given variations. I encountered a reddit post of someone with the EXACT same problem (although a slightly different computer model) , I'll link for clarification:

From what I gather this is relatively rare and a problem with either the AC adapter or mother board. I am out of warranty on the computer and these are pricey to fix so if you happen to have encountered this problem or have useful information it would be much appreciated, Thanks.

You are right . this might be a possible ac adapter or MOBO.. im gonna pm you then

  • Hi, I tried installing the new software update to my iPod touch this morning, got an error message that I could not finish installing it, and now my iPod is completely unresponsive, please help? It won't respond when I plug it into iTunes or anything.

Hi, thank you for helping me! Every time I plug it into the USB port of my computer, there is an image on my iPod touch that shows a USB cord and tells me to plug it into iTunes, but it is completely unresponsive. I have tried holding the home and power buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds, and that does not do anything either. Any ideas? Thank you so much!

Do you remeber the exact (or close to it) wording of the error message?

Sounds like the battery is shot and in need of a replacement.  You can have Apple replace the battery for a flat fee or you can send it into a third party repair center for a bit less.

  • Worth buying the Xperia Z3 Compact ? And a question about headphones.

Worth buying the Xperia Z3 Compact, compared to Xperia Z3?
And a doubt. I have had other Xperias, and headphones from other brands did not work well with him, this ''Z3 line'' is yet? It only works with Sony headphones?
    Thank You!

Well, the headphone jack is designed to be compatible with Noise Cancelling headphones from Sony, that uses 5 pins in the pole, however, a regular 3 segments headphones should work without issues... the problem is if you try to use incompatible Headsets (the ones with microphones) since the use an additional segment and it my be located in a different way than what Sony uses.
My advice is, if you are not the most hardcore audiophile, that you get a medium range Bluetooth Headphones. Those will be compatible with your phone...
I have had Altec Lansing BackBeat 906, 903... Plantronics BackBeat 903+, and currently use the BackBeat Go2.
Out of those the Go2 are the best sounding headphones for me (I do not care for tons of bass, so the amount of bass with those is very good)... but the battery is bad, around 3.5 hours. The fit is good, people complain when trying to use as advertised, but I actually found a better way to place them, making a loop around and front of my ears......  Price ~70$
All previous ones had a battery of 7 hours, but the rubber material of the piece around your ear hardens with time and breaks (after a couple of years of use)... the Go2 seems to be better built.
Finally I would recommend to you the Jaybirds Bluebuds X if you are willing to pay 140~160 $.... with excellent battery life, and sound quality.
If you want to go cheaper... Sony's SBH line has plenty of option with good reviews... SBH20 being the cheapest
And if you want to go crazy expensive, Parrot Zik are over 400$ but apparently they are the best all around. I tried them once.

  • I need to get into my phone, but the screen is completely unresponsive.

I have the iPhone 4 and a few months ago, I dropped my phone and the screen shattered. Now the screen is completely unresponsive and I would like to access my contacts, texts, calls, etc.. Is there anyway I could get into all of that through iTunes or at least my computer?
It's been this way for about a week and the texts and calls are flooding in and I can't even let these people know my phone doesn't work. Which *****.
*I don't have the money to replace/fix my phone at the moment, so I need to find an alternative.
    Thanks.
    -TMB

You cannot access the phone via the computer. You could try and backup the phone and try and access the backup via a 3rd party software, however most of them cost. Touchcopy is a good one to see the texts, but I'm not sure it will allow you to look at the call lists.
I suggest you find a dumbphone so you can at least handle texts and call since you cannot afford to fix the device right now.
